Basil To Be Brought Back To SL

Police announced today that Rajapaksa sibling, Basil is to be brought to Sri Lanka to obtain a statement over the corruption/financial misappropriation charges that have been leveled against him with concern to the Divi Neguma project.

The Police spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said the newly established Financial Fraud Investigation Unit has sought the advice of the Attorney General in order to facilitate this process and added that Basil Rajapaksa would be questioned over the finances of the Divi Neguma project being deployed at the recently concluded Presidential election.

Basil Rajapaksa left to Los Angeles just two days following his brother’s defeat at the Presidential election.

This is discrimination, perhaps on age. Why has MR not been questiond? After all he is the biggest brother and the biggest robber baron that Sri Lanka has seen for the last thousand of years or so.

Tarunayata Hettak ? I think Thaunayata Hillak would have been a better term for this ill-gotten and nefarious project

Edwin, instead of wasting the space of this valued journal, why do not you go and give the current authorities “all what you know about looting of country’s wealth by MR”? If not, your allegations will be turned out as another ‘coup attempt at the down of Jan 9th’. So hurry.

It might be difficult for people like Edwin to gather the evidence that MR and his cohorts robbed us blind but we seek answers to a simple question. “How did they accumulate their vast fortune running into US$Billions with which they bought mansions in USA and Sri Lanka?” The Kerala loudmouth Jayalalitha was convicted as she could not explain away how she accumulated her wealth, so whay can’t we?

      Absolutely.

      Double Standards.

The two biggest criminals, Mahinda Rajapaksa and Gotabaya Rajapaksa are at large. Thee are other multitudes of CRCs, Crooks, Robbers and Criminals, still at large, and Still doing the same corruption they did before.

Basil handled MR’s deals from the backdoors which caused Sri Lanka with burden debts by selling half of Galle face lands to China-Government controlled companies such as CCCC.

I hereby vow that Rajapaksas will be arrested once the UNP receives the majority in the Parliament which will regain more power to the Prime Minister (Ranil Wickremesinghe) through the 19th Amendment. Thus, the power will result in imprisonment of the Rajapaksas and the companions who were involved in the mass scale financial fraud, As the Prime Minister is intelligent leader who has a vision in helping the country’s growth and rebuilding the lives of people who are suffering from burden debts and loss of properties.

Enriching the country will help the economy and among of other things will be perfectly aligned as example from Singapore which is currently the richest country in the Asia.

In reply to your accusations of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa, what substantiated proof do you have to call the former President of Sri Lanka, a robber baron? You cannot let accusations like that fly without any supporting documented proof. That is called character assassination!

Moreover, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa was the immediate past President of Sri Lanka, you need to respect him irrespective of what you think of him or what he may have presumably done.

      Thank you.

That bugger does not deserve any respect. He was a total embarrassment for the country. He was never a statesman. Only an uneducated, uncultured thug.

Not only him, his entire family robbed the country. Bloody rogues.

Natural justice is catching up. You will have the proof very soon !

Edwin, most importantly, the buck should stop with the man in charge.

If the allegations are proved ( and by the look of things they wont be!) MR should be questioned NOT because he was the biggest brother or any of the other “attributes” you have mentioned, but because he was the Head of State and Basil was a Minister in his cabinet.

The buck stops with the man in charge, and therefore for that reason and that reason alone, the former Head of State should be held answerable. Age has nothing to do with it, but first, the allegations must be proved……

No , i mean Basil R , wasn’t he in-charge of the countrie’s economy ? as for Punchi Banda , i guess he is some where in Kurunegala .

By the way have you ever thought about a guy who dropped out from school can run a country’s economy, that is indeed a miracle !

Does it matter even if the state knows the whereabouts of this guy? They won’t do anything.

I am still awaiting them to arrest that terrorist mastermind KP living a good life in Killinochi with a INTERPOL arrest warrant out for him….its not happening ….neither will this.

My 90 year old father said lately, nethi ekata athiunahama puthe, winsasyak.. when social scum would rise up – there is no place int he society for anyone that respect dignity way of life. ALl what we got to see under Rajaapkshe was that. He is the most abusive person in lanken society. Even today to laugh at anything being asked him is just to ignore the issues for their favor. Unfortuantley, this nation has got significant masses to cough for those criminals. That is may be the nature of any society that bear IQ as lower as 70 as Amarasiri made it clear recently.

    What a picturesque site.

Leaving in a hurry, as if the house is on fire. Where is the Satakaya which was the hallmark of hoodwinking the village folks ?

Bring him on, will ruffle a few feathers here. I am sure the other two most patriotic citizens must be feeling a chill down their spine.

One bolted at the height of LTTE insurgency for fear of life and the other bolted knowing all too well what’s in store. The number one started off with a big bang….TSUNAMI.

No wonder Billions of Dollars are stashed away in Foreign countries. Did someone say, it is somewhat closer to our Foreign reserves ?

    Welcome home buddy.

“Where is the Satakaya which was the hallmark of hoodwinking the village folks ? “
Believe me; I was also thinking the same when I saw the picture. Now, clean cut, decently attired instead of kurakkan satakaya round his neck all the time. Better have the hangmans noose round his neck instead of the satakaya to fool people.

Most importantly, why do people mention only of the other two brothers when mentioning Basil, and not of the third?

      The third being Chamal Rajapakse.

The answer is simple, and I have no doubt that despite the façade, MR will be secretly regretting a lot of his actions, most of all not following in the footsteps of his elder brother.

  • 14
    3

Basil should be brought back from where ever he is even using Interpol. On his arrival he should be questioned charged and produced in courts and the case fast tracked and if found guilty should be taken to Galle Face Green and ask the people to punish by stoning like in Saudi Arabia.

If the country is to recover and to prohibit politicians robbing the country using the powers vested on them similar severe punishments have to be legalised with retrospective effect from at least 2009. This is the only way the country can curb this menace. If you do not bring this kind of legislations the stealing by politicians and their families would continue even for many generations to come. This will also eliminate third grade persons entering politics and make way for real professionals/technocrats to join politics and lead the country.

Without delay Basil will have to be questioned, based on the Statements so far recorded
from Officials involved, who with the absence of this Minister may have blamed Basil
more easily as he is not immediately available for clarification. Merely for any
Statement, cannot this can be sooner established via Skype, but we are more concerned of the charges he should face and should be issued with summons on evidence already with the AG.? The new Minister should have the AGs Dept. functioning non-lethargic as under the
    MR Regime

This must be so with MR and GR too – will the Officers in the AG Dept. dare to? One
can guage the situation of Judges who were in the AGs Dept. not wanting to hear the
case against their former collegue Mohan Peiris – despite the absence of a White-van!

  • 5

Ranil gave gurantees to MR and GR only. Basil did not receive Ranil’s Protection Agreement. That is why he vanished. The important point here is MR, GR, BR and NR are all still patriotic sinhala buddist in SL.

Avan Guard , white vanning , Prison Massacre , War crimes etc are all haunting the evil man , he can’t escape from the justice , no way Ranil can save this monster, his fate is sealed the moment MR was thrown out , so my friend not just you , there are millions of Sri lankans patiently waiting to see justice is done for the sake of a better Sri lankan future .

best thing is to hang them by their balls. Then any other lankens would learn it at least now. Basil s properties should be confiscated and the funds getting back should be used for the upliftment of the poor of the poor in the country. That is the best thing to do right at this moment, not forgetting Ghanasara should be derobed and rehablitites by sending him long term Jail with heavy tasks assigned on him. His aggressive potential can only be tamed in that way healing this multi ethnic nation.

You have to hook small fish like prawns to catch Shark. So the aim is to catch Gotha and MR and ——- .So the new Government is moving at the right direction, well done US and India. The final aim is towards China which was trying to run before crawl or walk. How Srilanka can compete with Dubai and dream for a new island in the sea, there is a limit for everything. Now we have nearly lost our Country, full of drug dealers – savarin is only a talk for election.

Is this another cruel joke on the people of Sri Lanka as well as the Tamils.

Basil R is rumored to have left my hometown Los Angeles USA and runaway to Vietnam. He is hiding in Vietnam for good reason. I heard that Vietnam has no extradition treaty with USA. So US would not be able to serve him for any DOJ purposes. US Courts has no jurisdiction in Vietnam.

Basil could also have investments in Vietnam through other front men of Sri Lankan origin. Basil had so many partners in Business who had investments in Vietnam. May be the FFID and the Police should start investigating those Sri Lankans.

GOSL and the Rajapakses had close relationships with semi rogue countries and leaders like in Libya, Syria, Egypt, Iran, North Korea, Zimbababwe, Seychelles, Burkina Faso, Sudan, and also Vietnam. May be these countries helped the Rajapakses in money laundering like a close bonds trader of Cabraal had in Dubai. He has now become notorious.

The Police and FFID are looking at the wrong place and the Tamils are not looking at all. They are busy with their own internal power struggle and ego fighting over assets.

Good Luck to the GOSL and FFID/Police. The hunters have become the hunted. lol.
    Enjoy.

Singaporeans cannot hide in Vietnam. Like Gotha they have the safest place for them. Sri Lanka. This is a joke.

    Donald Gnanakone.

YES IT IS A BIG JOKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE .
POLITICIANS THINK PEOPLE ARE STUPID …SL PEOPLE ARE VERY SMART .
THANKS TO RANIL W DRUG DEALERS , MONEY LAUNDERERS AND CROOKS ( BELONG TO BOTH PARTIES ) WILL NOT BE CHARGED.

THE ONLY TIME POLITICIANS DONT LIE IS WHEN THEIR MOUTH IS SHUT OR WHEN THEY ARE AT SLEEP . ONE NEW MINISTER TRIED TO UNDRESS A FEMALE POLITICIAN IN PUBLIC ? WHAT A DISGUSTING CHARACTER ??

US STILL CAN GET HIM ON TAX EVASION OR SL GOVT OR SL POLICE CAN SUMMON HIM TO APPEAR SINCE HE HAS A DUAL CITIZENSHIP ?

IF THE JVP IS SMART THEY BETTER PREPARE FOR CAMPAIGNING FOR THE NEXT ELECTION . GOD WILL ALWAYS PROTECT OUR COUNTRY AT THE END .

THERE IS A REASON WHY ALL SORTS OF PEOPLE FLOCK TO KOCHCHIKADE ST ANTHONY’S CHURCH COLOMBO ON EVERY TUESDAY .

I wonder whether the Police is aware that to bring down a chap from foreign lands require an extradition arrangement. In most cases it requires that the wanted party must be served with a charge sheet. Has Basil R. been charged in any Court? If the answer is Yes then why is not that fact been published. If not are we to assume that Police too is putting out some news for the psycho satisfaction of Yahapalana voters. I can safely say that though I too voted for Yahapalanaya I would not be taken for a ride so blatantly.

that which you speak of is normal procedure.
But in the US they have fast track . The same way Passa was not prosecuted in the US because he was head of state by order of secretary of state overriding the district court of Columbia- this was history in the making by Obama; the judge commented never before was the judiciary was advised by state dept.
Basil civil status is at present no better than raj rajaratnam was in the US- just a pot of gold with no recipts- the tax man in the US can plug him- US citizens have to pay for all earnings outside the country too.
With no government funds to pay lawyers he can get bowled for millions as legal fees- calls for value judgement before planning evading request.

    Donald Gnanakone.

    You have Gnanam no doubt!

Basil Rajapakse has learnt a few tricks from the Great Train Robbery of 1963.

The Royal Mail running between Glasgow and London was robbed in that year. A sensational robbery. Ronald Biggs the chief crook moved from country to country where Britain did not have an EXTRADITION TREATY!

As I opined earlier this is going to end up as a Wild Goose chase!
