Court documents obtained by the Colombo Telegraph show that Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary and vociferous hardline monk, Galabodaaththe Gnanasara pleaded guilty to hit-and-run charges filed against him by Grandpass police in 2000.
On September 20, 2000, the monk was fined Rs. 12,000 by Traffic Courts, Colombo 12. The accident occurred on April 14, the same year, causing injuries to two others named Mohamed Rifai and Ravindra Kumar. Gnanasara Thera was driving lorry number 6 Shri 5444. Among the charges against him were drunk driving, speeding, driving without a valid licence and failing to report the accident.
The monk pleaded guilty to all 9 charges.

All this racial and religious fanaticism could have been moderated and avoided had the MR government taken the stance to do so. Instead he has turned a blind eye and now havoc is on the loose.
Is this s scheme created by the government to divert the populations’ attention from all other economic dysfunctions and crisis’s?
Is this another distraction for the people so that the focus is taken away from the human rights violations and the rampant disregard for justice in this country?

what a foolish comment ! If it is in Saudi , then go and protest , why take it out on srilankan muslims who dont take to saudi idealogy ? Extremist groups amongst minority is a myth, How come you never thought of it or heard of it until the BBS planted in your head. If any clergy from any religous group has this track record and speaks in this manner then he doesnt qualify to be advocating his religion and must be stripped regardless if he is an imam or monk or bishop. instead of walking around the bush call a spade and spade and condemn this fake monk. All his speeches and tone is hate mongering , i doubt he has quoted even 2 lines from scripture during his talks !
