    It would have been very apt if the title had been ‘The President stands on his head when making decisions’ or ‘The president views the world standing on his head’.

    Incidentally, I stopped listening to the president’s independence day speech in disgust after hearing the manner in which he referred to the Buddha statue issue. The provocative intent behind the installation of this statue near a stinking fish market, had the potencial to set alight not only Trincomalee, but the rest of the country, at that point in time. Rather than the statue being imprisoned, the whole country was held hostage by this act of mischief.
