A mob, lead by a group of Buddhist monks has attacked the Head office and Stores Complex of Mssrs Fashion Bug situated at Pepiliyana Junction, a short while ago, at around 8 pm SL time (Thursday 28th March).The excuse used to attack this complex was that a 15 year old girl had been raped inside the building.
“The accusation that a rape had taken place is a baseless one as can be proved by the close circuit cameras which were installed as well as the inquiry carried out by the Police.The camera tells the real story on how these mob of fanatics had entered the building. The Special Task Force had to intervene to bring this attack under control.” said sources close to the owners.
“There was a false allegation of a rape occurring inside the Fashion Bug Complex in Pepiliyana. A rape did take place in the neighbourhood, where the accused has been remanded and the situation has been handled in the correct manner. The mob went out of control after intervening in that incident and turned on Fashion Bug.” the owners told the Colombo Telegraph.
This is another, in a series of attacks against Muslims as Fashion Bug owns by a family of Sri Lankan Muslims. The mob had gone on a rampage setting clothes that were in the store on fire and shouting obscenities at the girls who worked in this complex, saying that they should be ashamed to work in an enterprise owned by Muslims and to never come back. The mob had also manhandled some of the girls.

Many of the Muslim readers are upset over this isolated incident, and rightly so. But before we condemn intolerance, let me ask this simple question: can any non-Muslim visit Mecca? Does that not represent intolerance? I can go to Dalada Maligawa, or the Sistine Chapel, or the Taj Mahal, but not Mecca, even though there is evidence to suggest that Kaba is actually a Hindu shrine. Why these double standards?

Only Muslims can go to Mecca because Muhammad had decreed (Koran 9:28); “O you who believe (Muslims) the Mushrikun (polytheists and unbelievers in Allah and the Message of Muhammad) are Najasum (impure, defiled). So let them not come near Al-Masjd Al Haram (the Kaaba in Mecca) after this year”.
Accordingly, Muhammad renounced Jews and Christians as polytheists, therefore impure and defiled and commanded that they never come near the Kaaba in Mecca. To this day, leave alone Buddhists, Hindus and etc, no Jew or Christian can enter the Mecca, or come near Al-Kaaba, the Holy shrine in Saudi Arabia.
It all started after Ibn Abd al-Wahhab started to propagate salafism or monotheism or ‘One God’ following in 18th century. House of Saud backed his fundermentalist teaching of the Koran and following of Muhammad’s life example called Sunna in true sense. This is what is now called ‘Wahabism’.
Wahhabis claim that moderate Sri Lankan Muslims do not know anything of Islam and only themselves are the scholars of real Islam. Wahhabis use Saudi oil money to brainwash Sufi Muslims into Wahhabism. Wahhabis even use Sri Lankan Government Cultural and Religious Affairs Departments to continue their nefarious activities.
A recent article in CT on Wahhabi violence faced by a Sufi named Abdullah or ‘Rah’ explained internal feud, mosque burning and what has happened to moderate Muslim society in general in the recent past in Sri Lanka.
Muhammad had destroyed idols in 624 AD. There had been tombs of the wives and companions of Prophet Muhammad in Saudi Arabia. As true followers of Muhammed Wahhabis considered tombs are idols. So Wahhabis have destroyed the tombs and turned them in to parking lots. Some historical places of Islam from the Prophet’s house in Mecca and companion Ayoob Ansari’s house in Medina were also turned into apartment blocks.

Good explanation, Leela. As I have pointed out many times on this forum, Saudi Arabia is the main center of Islamic fundamentalism. Billions of dollars a year are given from the “House of Saud” to Sunni Muslim causes worldwide, whether it is to build a mosque or fight the Americans in Afghanistan. The West does nothing because if they go after Saudi, oil prices will increase exponentially. After Iraq invaded Kuwait, the Americans got scared Saudi would be next, hence the Gulf War. The second Bush took it one step further – to eliminate Iraq altogether.
Saudi Arabia is backwards in every sense. Public beheadings, females unable to own property or drive, women forced to cover up in public. Meanwhile, behind closed gates, the Saudi Royalty is enjoying liquor, foreign women, and luxury cars. One must ask how a place like Mecca can be within such close proximity of this kind of hypocrisy. Unless one takes Islam for what it really is – just another patriarchal Abrahamic philosophy designed to keep women in perpetual slavery using the excuse of a non-existant moon good.
By the way, Muhammed did not just destroy idols. He took captives and executed many of them. He added captured women to his harem. One must question the level of brutality here.

MR, in most of his public addresses, reiterated that the future Srilanka will not have majority/minority divide and there will be only “Srilankan” without any ethnic divide. This major policy change has some deficiency while phrasing the terminology. It should have been a Srilanka only with “Srilankan Budhist” instead of “Srilankan” and MR has entrusted his brother to implement this by first using his military forces to crush the LTTE and after 4 years by using hid Buddist Biukku based outfits to crush the innocent muslims by grabbing their right to exist and next his target will be Christians.

“Apr 10, Colombo: Chief Government Whip Minister Dinesh Gunawardena told Sri Lanka parliament that children have been recorded as the most victimized where sexual abuse and rape were concerned.
The Sri Lankan government says that a total of 3,859 cases of rape and sexual abuse have been reported in the country in 2012.
The number of child rapes had been the highest at 1,759 as opposed to rape of women which was recorded at 330.
Gunawardena has made this statement in repose to a question raised by JVP parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti.
A total of 1,194 cases of child abuse had also been recorded in 2012 while 547 children and 29 women had been sexually harassed during the year.
Right activists say the actual numbers could be higher as some incidents go unreported due to fear of reprisal from the perpetrators and social stigma.”
