  1. Sergie copied the statistics from the Magazine CADET.Those who volunteered to join the British Army went on their own and not only the 4 schools, many from other cadeting schools like Wesley and Richmond joined. The cenotaph, plaque at the Kanaththa, mentioned the Cylonese who died in the WW1.The Englishmen who were planting and joined the war effort and died are mentioned in the CPRC plaque at SLAVFTS, Diyatalawa,Methodist Church Nagoda. During the WW1 Methodist Church asked all their schools to disband the Cadet Platoons. That is why Wesley College does not have a Cadet platoon.
Some of the volunteers who went to WW1 were drowned while at sea. The Colonial Government at that time did not allow any local battalions to join the war; that is why many went on their own.

    • Dear Anton,

As a Burgher myself, I have taken a keen interest in the Ceylon Cadet Battalion as many of my relatives served in the CCB. However, in the CCB magazine collection I have, I cannot find any reference to your claim that those statistics were reproduced from the magazine “The Cadet”. I have every edition of the magazine…

Would you care to kindly cite the specific edition and page number of “The Cadet” edition in question so I can cross verify.

      Yours sincerely,
