Picture: When Salley Met Rajapaksa To Strengthen His Hand

In December 05, 2009, former UNP Mayor Azath Salley said that he vehemently opposed Sarath Fonseka’s candidacy because he could not work with a person who had been critical of the rights of minorities. Within couple of days Salley met President Mahinda Rajapaksa to strengthen his hand.

Old memories. All weakness of Ranil & UNP working committee. UNP lost good leaders because of his poor leadership qualities. Gamini families,MH,Imthiyas,Kehaliya,Nanda Mathew, Ganeshanayagam, Ampara Leader, Still UNP not having professional leader. Mahinda is very weak leader. UNP easily overcome.
At least recall Kaduwela MDH Jayawardena family, Imthiyas. Give the correct place to Mangala, he can do lot.

      @Yehiya

Mahinda is a crook, and he bought (with cash, ministries and perks) all the other crooks including Keheliya from the UNP to his government. Those who left were mere opportunists. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Everybody blames Ranil when they actually should be blaming Mahinda, and those who crossed over to MRs side. They should also blame people who voted for Mahinda and the voters who continue to support those who crossed over.

Most of the people in this country are so gullible. They should have learnt by now, never to give any party or president more than a six year term. Soon as they get 2 terms they go crazy. Now MR has bought in an 18th amendment doing away with presidential term limits, and only if an overwhelming majority votes against him will he not try any computer jilmarts. Thankfully the cost of living is sky high and the
IMF is helping to restructure loss making institutions like CEB, CPC, SriLankan and Mihin. People understand fast only when they get hit in the stomach. The middle classes living in towns seem to have figured out what kind of a liar MR is. The most important thing is, will the village idiots also realise by the time the next elections come along?

One could only guess the standard and the class by looking at the faces of the Jokers and their Behaviour.

You could see many of those faces and behaviour near Kotahena toddy tavern.

The Butler looking face cut joker is world famous.

Nowhere in the world you could see these types of puppet looking jokers governing a country.

As long as Ranil hangs on to power as the most unpopular Leader the UNP ever had, the corrupt Regime has nothing to worry. Even the strong UNP supporters do not vote Ranil and they stay away from voting and the corrupt Regime steal the votes.

What you and all the other people who keep repeating this accusation against Ranil do not seem to realize is that your definition of a strong leader will be a mirror image of Rajapakshe. The last time we had such a person look what happened to him. He ended up in jail on trumped up charges. Now he is released but with no civic rights. Is this what you want to happen to your so called strong leader? In order to survive in this country as a politician you have to either join the devil or remain low key and non threatening until the morons who vote come to their senses.

Freedom of expression comes with a cost of life… Freedom has to be fought not gained
Freedom should have a great value that will be remembered until humanity vanishes.

How do you expect a Muslim, or for that matter any minority politician, to support the “national hero” Sarath Fonseka who openly declared that Sri Lanka belongs to the Sinhalese?

So Mr Azath Sally joined Rajpkasa to protect the minorities from the ex General.

Didn’t the self claimed Leader of the other minority Mr Sambandan join ex Genral at the same time?.

Soon after Mr Sally not only joined Mr Sambandan to ptotect minorities, but he adopted the TNA as well withan a M in front.

Now What is the record of the TNA when it comes to protecting the rights of Mr Sally’s people

Has Mr Sambandan apologized to the Muslim minority on behalf of his one time associates the LTTE, for eliminating or should we say up rooting one hundred thousand of them from their ancestral lands?.

Has Mr Sambandan apologized and said sorry for killing three hundred Muslim worshippers in the East?.

And of course not forgetting the other killings on the Banks of Mahaweli?.

Was Mr Sally that naive to use the “TNA”bit to identify his human rights outfit even with a M infront?

How come only Diaspora Backers Canada has come to Sally’s aid?.

Why hasn’t Mr Sambandan mobilized his resources and got his whizz kid to issue a fundamental rights thing in the SC, when the same whizz kid appeared pro bono for some high profile individauls in the very recent past?.

Wouldn’t it be a cake walk for such a legal luminary, to shred the PTA into pieces, if Mr Azathh Sally has been only protecting human rights of the minorities?.

The path to power is strewn with the corpses of friends and confidantes. Ruthless are the mighty when they have to defend their power.

A good lesson to our people, not to leap frog and make deals with such corrupt leaders. Stick to principles and lead an honourable existance.

I say Azad. In my religion there is a phenomena called “Ditta Damma Vedaniya Kamma”. In other religions, the same is referred to as “Retribution”. At lease now, learn not to let down the people who placed trust in you to do well by them under a different political view. Retribution may be slow in coming, but it is like your shadow or the wheel behind the cart. You cannot shake it off.

      Dear Ambettaya
I like if retribution can come in this birth, it hardly happens. At least people would be scared to commit these horrible crimes.
In my life I have found sinners die good deaths, the good person die after suffering with incurable disease.

Sally was one who organized Muslims to participate in a huge demonstration along with Alavi Maulana a Serbian origin Muslim Governor against the HR violation resolution against Sri Lankan Government which was brought by US Government in 2011. Mahinda as usual implemented the policy of “USE and THROW,thrown him out and even took hash action. Sally has lost his credibility to invite international support for his release by doing so.Sally never voiced for the rights of minority Tamils who were/are subjected to oppression and suppression by respective Sinhalese majority Governments from so called independence.

This action of MARA is to send a message to Rauf’s team that they also will be subjected to the same treatment if they leave the Govt.Mara may have more “files” of the SLMC Ministers to use against them if they leave. Most of my friends say that Rauf never leave the Govt. even if the party broken in to pieces.

We as HR defenders strongly condemn the arrest of Mr.Sally under PTA which is a draconian law from the day it was introduced.
