Activist Vishaka Tillekaratne and Dr Sujatha Gamage wrote eye-witness accounts into the Colombo Telegraph saying that the pole-wielding pro-impeachment protestors brandished implements and used abusive language to try and prevent them from reaching the Lawyers’ Collective protest. Their reports said that the police had stood nearby while the crowd to threaten and intimidate them but did not attempt to intervene.

No. It did not, because it was a brutal war fought by two sides. There were hence two sides to the story and only one side of the story was being peddled. The likes of you were also determined to ‘ Hear and talk’ of only one side of the story. I met and heard from the best witnesses- the war victims on the battle ground- directly and believe them more. I also have seen enough of LTTE I photographs and videos concocted by the LTTE, not to believe anything that is purported to come out from the war scene.
Trying to connect different stories and circumstances to make your case and calling others names, will not change realities.

Sri Lanka Police work only if they are given Kappan (Bribes) and hora Kasippu bottles.
I saw to my eyes how in Moratuwa Police station….Police constables all drinking and smelling Kasippu and also behaving fully drunk…three of them while on duty around 6.30 PM.
That’s why they prefer to work as TRAFFIC COPS AS THEY CAN EASILY EARN RUPEES 20,000 IN A DAY.
THE MOST HIGHEST CORRUPTION AND BRIBES ARE TAKING PLAE IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
I TELL YOU THE TRUTH …..ON ONE POYA DAY MY FRIEND AND I WENT TO POLICE HEADQUARTERS (Havellock park) AND GOT A BOTTLE OF KASIPPU FROM HIS POLICE FRIEND WHO GAVE IT FROM THE BOX IN HIS ROOM.
So that’s why they are inactive……as without Bribes and Kappan…..they don’t work.

For the tamils in the north and east of Sri Lanka this type of government sponsored assault on anyone who opposes the regime is a daily occurrence. The perpetrators are the military and government paramilitaries. People in the south have been simply ignoring it. Now the same treatment is being meted out to them by the regime.

Late 80’s and early 90’s the Nepali public beheaded several police officers and paraded the heads on vegetable carts all across the country and the King relinquished his powers.
I won’t be too surprised if some of these policemen are in fact monks.

This is what I meant when I recently wrote the regime is unlikely to hand over and leave without bloodshed. That is the culture of W. Dahanayaka and to a lesser extent Ranil W. The image of the country is in shambles. The system of law and order is the last line of defence in our wobbling democratic order. What we see here is the re-emergence of July 1983 pogrom against innocent and wealthy Tamils in the main towns in the South – hordes of drunk, drugged, menacing-looking two-legged savages with wooden poles, iron rods. The same scenario where the Police appears blissfully unconcerned. The controllers of these mobs, like in 7/83, are well entrenched in the higher portals of the regime. This is law of the jungle.
The Govt responds by hinting their “good work” is sabotaged by the “enemies of the State” The usual suspects are invoked – 2 foreign Govts, the NGOs, the diaspora and what not. It is curious the Govt does not mention Ranil and the UNP here.

All was lost when the 18th amendment was approved by this same CJ and her court,in 24 hours.
In other countries,far reaching changes to the constitution are debated for weeks & months before being taken up in parliament.
She could have asked for more time.
Most of the MPs & even the speaker were not aware of the details.
When TNA’s Sumanthiran tried to show this in parliament,he was drowned in a chorus of “kottiya”.
Enlightenment dawned on CJ & her court only when the Divineguma came up.
Does the CJ deserve this treatment she brought upon herself by her hurried appoval of the 18th amendment?
The southerners are now getting a taste of what the notherners have endured upto now.

These photographs prove that there is no independent judiciary in this country, intimidation nd interference makes it impossible to for the judges to give an impartial judgment in the future. Lawlessness makes it impossible for the lawyers to act independently. At the end there will be no judiciary, not worth going to Courts when the judiciary is controlled by government goons. No point our Courts hearing any cases in the future. Nobody will go to courts, lawyers will be left without any Court Cases.
