The Persecution Of Muslims In Sri Lanka And The Indifference Of Muslim MPs

The Persecution of Muslims in Sri Lanka and the indifference of Muslim MPs and Ministers

The LTTE was fiercely decimated purely because they forcefully expelled the Muslims from the Northern province at gunpoint, and abruptly put an end to the call for prayers ( Athan), thereby closing the mosques in the province.  As such, let those who attempt to close mosques currently in Southern Sri Lanka be decimated in the same way and I am sure that they will also face the consequences sooner or later. I deliver this speech today in this parliament, while fasting, during our sacred month of Ramazan in the strong hope that my plea will be answered by the Almighty Allah. The world knows what is happening to minority Muslims in this country and to their places of worship. I fervently request our brothers living here in Sri Lanka and abroad to pray (Duas) to Allah in this holy month of Ramazan against those who draw up a cunning plan to suppress and oppress Muslims and their mosques in this country. (The Speech delivered by MP. Hunaiz Farook in Parliament yesterday-26/07/2013)

This speech is a genuine reflection of the emotions and grief in the minds of any Muslim in the country, against the backdrop of them continuously being targeted by the ethno-religious fascist Buddhist forces like BBS and SR, obviously stirred by the government. The recent months have seen that a large number of Muslim MPs and local government members, both government and opposition, choose to remain silent in the parliament or local government bodies against the stridently venomous persecution of Muslims across the country. The rapidly growing aggression against Muslims in the country requires our representatives in the government to raise their concern in parliaments and other forums. I began to worry that they are more concerned with protecting their own perks and privileges, rather than protecting the legitimate concerns of the people who elect these representatives. I was eagerly yearning for a day to witness someone in parliament representing the Muslims, standing up for the rights of the Muslim community, but my expectation resulted in utter vain and was really sickening. No representative in the parliament or local government bodies vehemently criticized the continuous persecution of Muslims or at least attempted to cross over to the opposition to show his or her condemnation against the unfair practices of the ruling government, if they had an iota of self-respect and prestige.

However, I was deeply touched by the speech of MP Hunaiz Farook yesterday which has begun to change my impression that there is hope. With courage, at least one has stepped forward now to fight against the plight of Muslims at the hands of ethno-religious fascist Buddhist forces in Sri Lanka. Some people view this speech positively, while others attribute this to being a mere political investment for the upcoming Northern Province Council election. Those who regard this speech as a political gamut have some valid points to draw such a conclusion. The Muslim government ministers and MPs have spoken about issues previously at a far too convenient time to ensure their political clout in their electorates. For instance, it is no secret that Minister of Justice, Mr Rauf Hakeem, the leader of the SLMC, had stirred the emotions of the Eastern populace by cunningly articulating the government’s hand in the persecution of the Muslims during the last Eastern Provincial Council Election and ensured the victory of his party in the election to form the council with the government, whom he was severely critical of, with ever more concessions. Moreover, he is popularly known as a tongue twister because of his nature of saying something in the North and East and something entirely different in the South.

One of the objectives of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, which is a minority political party founded in 1980s, was to raise the legitimate aspirations and concerns of Muslims in Sri Lanka, especially those who are living in the North East. This objective of the SLMC has apparently been put to rest with its members presently in the pursuit of perks and privileges and a strong focus on development drives that involve with massive material benefits. They are good at emotionalizing the people with a ban on halal issue, mosque attacks, BBS saga and other issues pertaining to the Muslims in the country during elections and other events at their electorates, but bad at raising or convincing the rulers that BBS saga would eventually drive the country to another civil war.

In addition, we have recently learned that Muslim ministers and MPs have a difficult time seeking an appointment with the president to discuss the matter pertaining to the mosque in Mahiyangana which has apparently been closed following its desecration by unknown groups or to discuss solutions to other anti-Muslim issues getting from bad to worse with every passing day. It clearly underlines how vulnerable and insignificant these politicians are in the government, although they claim to be part of the coalition. We came across news recently of the president appraising some of the SLFP stalwarts including Matale Mayor, Hilmy Careem, Kurunagala District SLFP Coordinator Mr Abdul Sathar that Muslims should take a desecration saga the likes of Mahiyangana Mosque for granted, citing the example of the Buddhists who are able to tolerate the recent incident in Balangoda where a Muslim businessman abused a young Buddhist monk and another incident in Belimada where a Muslim businessman molested a young Buddhist girl. This is their basis for saying there is no need for Muslims to make a mountain out of a molehill. It should be noted here that the law applies to all, regardless of ethnicity, class or caste. In such circumstances, had the law been applied at that time and the culprit would have been severely punished based on the penal code section of the land, with no regard to his ethnicity either in Balangoda and Belimada, it could have, in fact, been a lesson for others on simply getting away from such crimes. Alternatively, the explanation given for the desecration of the mosque, which is a place for thousands of worshippers, followed by its closure does not paint an optimistic picture for the Muslims in this country. Furthermore, it goes to say that the Muslims, in general, are blamed and taken revenge for what one miscreant member of the community does. This does not bode well for the long term reconciliation between ethnic groups in Sri Lanka. Employing symbols and other brands of ethnicity to ensure the stable clout in the electorate or politicizing the ethnicity will take us nowhere, but winning the election at the expense of losing the peace and reconciliation. It is very explicit now that the war that lasted for three decades has taught us nothing, but the mentality to suppress the minorities further by establishing the majoritarian hegemony in the country.

Therefore, it is high time for the government to take some measures immediately to contain these ethno-religious fascist movements mushrooming in the post-war scenario, and to restore the religious rights of the Muslims historically enjoyed by them throughout the country. It is also important for the Muslim MPs and ministers to show genuine commitment regarding the issues plaguing the community at large, adopting a view that looks beyond the next election. They should also raise this issue in parliament and cabinets. This issue should also be drawn, with the intervention of the Muslim politicians, to the attention of the international community, especially the Muslim countries that support Sri Lanka financially and diplomatically in international forums like Geneva. The continuous persecution of Muslims in the country is a serious issue that must be dealt with immediately by those in power, lest it lead to another national catastrophe.

The Sinhalese of the country were gradually getting more and more disillusioned by the present government. The attack on Muslims in the country is less an attack of their religion and more a means of consolidating the Sinhalese vote with the government. Quite easy to do given the history of galloping idiocy on the part of the Sinhalese majority over the last 5 decades.

As pointed out by the writer Muslim MP’s too are helpless due to the attitude of the VVIP’s. The Mahiyangana Mosque incident is a glaring example of discrimination against the muslims. The denial of the right to have a place of worship and to follow one of the fundamental pillars of the faith is an act directed at all Muslims and Islam in general. Then too the involvement of a Minister of the Govt. Perhaps the only recourse will be to take these matters up with the OIC.

The need for Myanmar like mechanism to deal with Islam.
Islam however, whoever says what, Is a barbaric religion. The religion asks to kill those who do not believe in Islam. The justification is, “it is better to kill them than let them live with no faith on Allah” so killing infidels is this justified as “for the betterment of infidels”
    E.g : Quran
2:191 And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.

2:193 And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah.

2:216 Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not.

2:244 Fight in the way of Allah, and know that Allah is Hearer, Knower.

5:33 The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom.

In Islam, everything is governed under Quran. Children are taught only Islam, but not even a word about other religions. They are taught and trained to act as killing machines and spread Islam. This is the reason why Islam is very aggressive and Islam itself is terrorism.
When the majority of a country is Islam, they impose Sharia. They justify it as the “divine law of God”. Non-Muslims also need to adhere to sharia, or be punished under sharia. Non-Muslims are not given jobs/education or other opportunities. There will be taxes on non-Muslims, just because they are non-Muslims. E.g. Indonesia, Malaysia
    See “Jizya” : e.g : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jizya
    Why non-Muslims should pay Jizya : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6g9ohG-784
Muslims migrate to Non-Muslim country and slowly (yet steadily) grow their numbers. They act very innocent and get all the benefits under the majority. Most of the other civilised religions do not depress other religions. And Islam grows with no threat from the existing principle religion ( Buddhism or Christianity) once they grow the numbers, then ask for sharia and special laws. And when they can, they take the power of the country and make it a Muslim country. No democracy , no mercy for minorities there onwards. Non-Muslims are depressed and killed.
See why terrorism is allowed in Islam: http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Why_Terrorism_is_Allowed_in_Islam
It is rather apparent the reference to “satin” in Christianity and reference to “mara” in Buddhism must be referred to the same, that is Islam and its God Allah. According to Christianity and to Buddhism, there is a dooms day; where e the world destroys, when people are sinners. It must be referred to a situation where Islam conquers the world. Or rather “satin” or “mara” conquer the world. Then the glory of the world is gone. And world get destroyed itself.

So via democracy, kindness the world simply cannot deal with Islam. Islam is such that It is like a cancer. By loving the cancer or by been nice to cancer, you can’t get rid from that. You need to treat the cancer in such a way to get rid from that.

The mechanism in Myanmar, is thus rather justified. Since they understood that Islam is growing and soon, they will be slaves under Islam hypocrisy and depression. A problem which cannot be addressed democratically or with a human feelings. Look, what happened in all Buddhist countries, in all peaceful countries. Islam enters and they simply destroy it. E.g. Sri Lankan, India, Maldives, Bangladesh etc etc.

The American Approach is better, but is in macro level. Mass scale Muslim depression. While America treats the would cancer like that, small nations like Myanmar or Sri Lanka need to act in a grass root level to get rid form the world cancer.
Sri Lankans, if they need to be safe, have to think about Something like in Myanmar, before it is too late. I think Sri Lankan Buddhist are ( or they used to be ) too good and too innocent. Bodu Bala Sena is doing a marvellous duty by making it clear to Sinhalese. Let’s hope the Glory of the world will remain longer, with No Islam Hypocrisy.

      @ Jasica David,

You need some education to understand the world and religions. Here some examples for your foolishness.

INDIA AND BANGLADESH NEVER BEING A BUDDHIST COUNTRY. BANGLADESH WAS SEPARATED FROM PAKISTAN IN 1972.

Buddhism is a dying Philosophy in the world it’s not a religion. And today what you practice is not the Buddhism which Load Buddha preached. So, what you are following is a barbaric religion not suitable for the world.

Before Buddhism Sri Lanka was peaceful. And that the reason Buddhism was vanished out from India. Buddha is Hindu.
You should take some exercises in Buddhism so easily you will understand the rest unless being a fool always like your enders.

Today you are not following the Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Your BBS is NGO and Political agents who work for money. The not real Buddhists.

Most of the Muslim MP’s may be there for the perks, benefits and privileges as pointed out by the writer.

There is strong suspicion that the anti-Muslim saga is a well-planned and orchestrated scheme by the regime to consolidate the Sinhala-Buddhist constituency.

Perhaps those Muslim MP’s (within the government and otherwise) are most probably tackling these serious issues with the regime behind closed doors. The Muslim MPs may have been assured that the apparent anti-Muslim crusade is no more than a temporary exercise till the next presidential/parliamentary elections, and in the interim the regime will not let matters to get out of hand. Hence their apparent inaction.

Meanwhile, does general Civil Society indulge in the wait and watch game….or do the right thing by taking urgent organised initiatives to nip in the bud the newly-emerged menace of bigoted extremists, who seemingly have the blessings of the powers that be?

The danger is that if these rabid extremists are not curbed soon, there is a grave risk that they will be emboldened to target other minority groups sooner or later.

    That would indeed be tragic.

This is how they kill – ALWAYS GOD-WILLING.

“Egypt’s ministry of interior blamed the Muslim Brotherhood for deadly Cairo clashes on Saturday and denied officers fired live rounds.

Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said in a press conference on Saturday that pro-Mursi sit-ins will be “dealt with soon.”

Ibrahim said the procedure will be taken based on a decision by the prosecutor, who has been examining legal complaints by citizens about the protests that have blocked major Cairo thoroughfares.

“God willing, it will be broken up in a way that does not cause losses,” Ibrahim said referring to sit-ins that have lasted about a month. “But, God permitting, it must end. We hope that they come to their senses … and join their political process.”

“With regards to the timing … to disperse the protesters, there is complete coordination between us and the armed forces,” the minister told a news conference.

“There are still meetings going on to set the appropriate time to implement that plan according to the complaints submitted to the prosecutor on transgressions of the law by the protesters. “

        NABIL:

        As you don’t understand this;

BUDDHISTs are Atheists and strictly speaking Agnostics.

Buddhists don’t believe in a AlMIGHTY or a CREATOR god. buddhists believe that you are responsible for your life whether it is spiritual or not. We don’t believe that a A creator is their mark us good or bad and it is us who determines whether we are good or bad.

All those that you are talking are similar to Angles of Christians and ALL THEM THOSE GODS KNELT IN FRONT OF LORD BUDDHA. Only by comprehensive reading of buddhism you can understand it. Buddhism is not just one book like quran which explain the whole religion.

This is how Muslims Treat buddhism

“Buddhists are Jews in Disguise” – Ayatollah Ruhollah Qarehi, head of the Imam Mahdi seminary in Tehran

“In an August 8, 2012 interview with the Rasa news agency titled “The Cruel Genocide Against The Muslim People In Myanmar,” Ayatollah Ruhollah Qarehi, head of the Imam Mahdi seminary in Tehran, said: “The genocide of the Muslims in Myanmar is ostensibly being carried out by the Buddhists, but we are certain that Judaism and Global Zionism are [behind] the massacre and the genocide against the Muslims… The tenets of Buddhism are derived from Judaism. The Buddhists are a tool [in the hands] of the Jews, and ‘Buddhism’ is a name behind which [hides] the hand of Judaism and Global Zionism.

“The Jews also run America. Has there ever been an American president, either a Democrat or a Republican, who wanted to get elected and did not put on the Jewish hat or skullcap, and did not explain his ties with the Jews to the Jewish [U.S.] Congress?! Naturally, the hands of the Jews are behind all these events. But, since the Jew knows that he is an [object of] derision throughout the world, he hides behind a pseudonym like ‘Buddhism.’ Lecturers at seminaries and universities, as well as the media, must [speak up] in various languages and in eloquent terms… and explain to the people and to our dear youth that behind [the term] ‘Buddhism’ there [hides] the Jew.”

It is no secret to anyone with eyes and ears that Islamic extremism is spreading in the island of Sri Lanka like wildfire. Over the past 10 years the number of mosques and other Islamic religious places has more than doubled. When Islamic extremists forced ‘Halal’ on the entire population, the nation succumbed to it helplessly. Only 9.2% of Sri Lanka’s population is Muslims and the Malay population just about 1%. In 2009 a violent mosque attack in Beruwala occurred. It is a stark reminder of the fate that awaits those who don’t comply with Islamic fundamentalism in this island. These are classic cases of extremism taking an upper hand over a civilised democratic society. This pattern is all too common in other countries.

The following are independent accounts of the growing Islamic extremist threat from various sources. Although new to the external espionage agencies concerned, this information hardly surprises any Sri Lankan. It is everybody’s knowledge. For instance the information in the US Embassy cable is all too well known to almost all Sri Lankans, paragraph to paragraph. Proof of this information and the probability of specifics will also be analysed here.

A word of caution is needed in any similar analysis. Since it deals with the most widespread terrorist operation in the world, extreme care must be taken not to arouse, instigate or indirectly support these violent movements. A carefully drawn out mostly peaceful strategy is needed to counter this threat. Military action must be well coordinated at a global and regional scale.

    What the US Embassy Unearthed

The US Embassy has unearthed what is commonly known to all Sri Lankans. Please read Annexure-1 below. Alternatively readers can read the original by going to http://wikileaks.org/cable/2003/10/03COLOMBO1810.html.

However, it indicates a shocking development or a number of them. The US Embassy has been and possibly still is conducting espionage operations in Sri Lanka on many matters using its “contacts” and “sources”. On this matter USA and Sri Lankan interests match. There are many other instances where divergent interests are at play. Another shocking indication is that the Islamic threat has reached such a highpoint in Sri Lanka that USA dedicated considerable amount of resources to identify and tackle it.

    Who Feels the Threat First?

First receptors of the rise of Islamic extremist violence are the moderate Muslims. They become the first victims of extremists. This can be seen in Sri Lanka very well in political, economic, cultural, religious and security aspects. In 1987, Muslims’ political conduct changed for the worse. In the lines of Tamil mono-ethnic and racist political parties, a group of Muslims funded by wealthy Middle Eastern Wahabis, formed in to SLMC. Their excuse was LTTE violence against Muslims in the north and the east. However, it is not true. By 1987, the LTTE honeymoon with Palestinian terrorists was not over. LTTE fell out with Muslims only in 1990 Black August when all Muslims were chased out of Jaffna and attacks were launched against Muslims in the East. Another development was taking place in the east during this time. Islamic extremist terrorists were pumping millions if not billions of dollars to the East. Cases in point are at least two whole new Muslim only villages by the names Saddam Hussein Town and Muammar Gadhafi Town constructed with the money of these two notorious terrorists. Therefore the excuse for the formation of the SLMC is not valid. Their real intention is to expand Islamic fundamentalism.

Economically, moderate Muslims have become mere vagrants compared to the billions radicals have at their disposal. Two radical Muslim groups build mosques in competition while moderate Muslims have no other option than join them. While moderate Muslims for hundreds of years thrived in Sri Lanka without any Sharia law, ‘halal’ foods and loudspeakers, radicals have stumped them calling them betrayals of the original teaching. Since resistance is highly dangerous (as can be seen from the Beruwala attack) and considered treacherous, moderates have now joined the radicals. This explains the motivation of the Muslim source of information to the US embassy.

After the ceasefire agreement (CFA) with the LTTE, Muslims were thrown into the hands of Tamil brutality. It is true Tamil nationalists killed and displaced Muslims from 2002 to 2009. It is also true Muslims organised into ‘Jihad’ groups during this time. But the two developments had nothing to do with each other. There is not a single instance of any Islamic group attacking the LTTE or resisting any LTTE move. The real reason is connected to the global war on terror launched in 2001. Islamic terrorists actively looked for safe havens when the war started. Sri Lanka was at war till 2001 but following the ceasefire agreement (CFA) with the LTTE relative peace returned. It was a perfect oasis for Islamic radicals in the midst of a global war on them. They were safe in peaceful Sri Lanka where people were disgruntled of war by then.

    http://archives.dawn.com/archives/129650

The Passport Operation for Terror Activities

There is enough reason to believe information on this. It is a well-known criminal act done in the country by both Tamil and Muslim terrorists. However, the “source” revealed another interesting fact. Muslims are given false passports with Sinhalese names. Following 9/11, persons with Muslims names were thoroughly checked at international ports and airports around the world. By changing their names, they could easily pass through. A similar trick was used by 9/11 attackers and many other terrorists around the world. The fact that the false passport operation was carried by a former Muslim minister’s son does not surprise anyone especially in the light of another revelation – (C/NF) “the Source also identified Muslim Minister Rauf Hakeem as a supporter of this [Jihad] camp”.

    Radical Muslim Students in Universities

Although the “source” claims he knows close to one hundred radical Muslims students at the Jayawardanapura University, the number cannot be true given the total number of Muslim students in that university. However, this number is well within the possible number of radicals in all the universities, especially in the Eastern and South Eastern Universities. It is very likely they are actually developing chemical agents and other weaponry using the knowledge and resources gained at the universities. However, at that time it was unlikely they were attempting to develop anthrax. Interestingly, it was the SLMC when it was a partner of the PA government (1994-2001) that built the South Eastern University for Muslims. Many Middle Eastern Islamic groups financially assisted its construction. What is more interesting is the repetition of the events and connections of the actors. After 10 years later, same SLMC actors are involved in wrongfully and dramatically increasing the number and percentage of Muslim students at the Sri Lanka Law College in an attempt to impose Sharia Law in the long run. This corroboratory evidence support what Mohamed Ilyars Mohamed HUNU revealed 10 years ago.

In addition, a large number of Islamic education centres, government schools and international schools have come up in the last decade. Islamic fundamentalists have many openings for the propagation of radical Islam and knowledge on ancient Arabic warfare and weaponry through these. Those who perform well are given scholarships to study advanced techniques of indoctrination and violence in Saudi Arabia.

There is a reason why most Muslim schools in outskirts of major towns have their medium of instruction in Tamil. This way the Sinhala majority will not be able to understand them. It is also essential for growing connections they have with former Tamil terrorists in South India. A Tamil speaking Muslim was arrested with plans to attack the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in South India. He was attempting to escape to Colombo where the Indian RAW thinks the ISI South Asian coordination unit is. However, there is nothing to prove these Indian allegations.

Jihad Camp Supported by Sections of Police and SLMC Leader?

The “source” mentioned Jihad operations are supported by some Muslim police officers and the SLMC leader. He has also claimed their main source of weapons at that time was the police. This claim is true. Following Black August attacks by Tamil terrorists in 1990, under the instructions of the then government, the police provided Muslims in the east with assault rifles. More than 250 were provided in 1990 but when they were requested to be handed over by Minister Hisbullah in 2010, only a mere 20 were handed over. Others still remain at large.

Rauf Hakim’s involvement in anti-national activities and Islamic fundamentalism is very well known. He has a history of supporting Islamic extremism and terrorism. He was sacked from his minister post in 2001 after he declared two separate Islamic states within Sri Lanka.

    http://www.priu.gov.lk/news_update/EditorialReviews/erev200106/20010623editorialreview.html

During the same year he publicly blamed the Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) unit for plotting to eliminate Tamil terrorist leaders. After a Tamil terror attack that killed a dozen Muslims in the east in 2007, Hakim instigated Muslims to attack Special Task Force camps and convoys in the east. He played a crucial role in creating a rift between the former army commander Fonseka and the government in an attempt to dilute the May 2009 military victory. In 2012 he called Buddhist monks “terrorists”. He was forced to apologise or lose his ministry and he obviously chose the former. He manipulated the government to provide various unfair concessions to Muslims at the expense of others.

Disturbing Population Growth Rate of Muslims

The rate of population growth of Muslims has been astronomical from 1946 to 2012. It has disturbed the peaceful ethnic balance. At the time of independence, Muslim population percentage was just 5.1% which has almost doubled in 2012 to 9.2%. Undoubtedly this is the largest growth in population of any ethnicity. Since 1981 to 2012, Muslim population shows astronomical growth from 7% to 9.2% – the largest percentage increase.

Measures must be taken to curtail this astronomical Muslim population growth to maintain peace and the harmonious ethnic balance. With indoctrination in full swing, a larger group of radicals pose a graver national security threat.

(Since identifying the emergence of radical Islam in eastern Sri Lanka and Colombo, USAID has redoubled its projects and microfinance in the east in an attempt to quell it. However, it is unlikely to achieve anything as it is pittance compared to the billions coming from the Middle East accompanied with radical teachings.)

    Annexure-1

SUBJECT: WALK-IN DESCRIBES MUSLIM EXTREMIST ACTIVITIES IN SRI LANKA

Classified By: RSO Alex Moore – Exempt from Declassification. Reason: 1.6 (X1)

    1. (C/NF) Summary – On 10/14/03 and again on 10/15/03, RSO interviewed an unknown walk-in Source of undetermined reliability who claimed to have information on several aspects of Muslim radicalism in Sri Lanka. The information included the name of a passport vendor in Colombo who provides false passports to Muslim terrorists, some of whom are allegedly now in the U.S., information on a group of radical Muslim students at a local university in Colombo, information on Muslim police connections to Muslim terrorist groups in the Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka, and information on a Muslim terrorist training camp in the Eastern Provinces. End Summary.

    2. (C/NF) On 10/14/2003, an unknown Source phoned Embassy Colombo and spoke with the RSO regarding radical Muslim activities in Sri Lanka. An appointment was made for the Source to come to the North Gate of the Embassy to be interviewed at 1630 hours. The Source came at the appointed time and identified himself as Mohamed Ilyars Mohamed HUNU (father’s name NOONU), DPOB 12/15/1972 – Sri Lanka, National Identity Number 723501008V, SL PPT# L0130138. Source provided two phone numbers: 034-2277851 and 94-1-222-2787. Source claimed to be a police bodyguard for the Sri Lankan Minister of State for Housing in the Eastern Provinces 1991-94, but was currently unemployed and a father of three children. He also produced documentation as a former worker in private security in the U.A.E.

    3. (C/NF) Source indicated that he had information on operations and activities of radical Muslims in Sri Lanka, to include the name of a passport vendor in Colombo who provides false passports to terrorists, the existence of a group of radical Muslim students at a local university, links between Muslim Police and extremist Muslim groups in the Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka, and information on the existence of a Muslim terrorist training camp in the Eastern Provinces.

    4. (C/NF) RSO pressed the Source for details on the passport vendor in Colombo, and the Source advised that the name of the vendor was Ilyars Hajy Faleel HAJY. HAJY was the son of a former Muslim Minister in the government and, in addition to the fraudulent passport operation, is a gem dealer. Source claimed that HAJY takes Sri Lankan passports with Muslim names and changes them to Sinhalese names. The Source also alleged that HAJY has forged passports for terrorists from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, some of whom are already in the U.S. Source could not provide additional details on this last claim, but Source offered to provide a sample of HAJY’s forgeries the following day. (On 10/15/03, Source returned to the Embassy and provided a second passport #M1091886 containing his photo in the name of Mohamed Imtiyaz Mohamed FULAIL, with a DOB 03/02/1973. He said the passport cost him 30,000 Rupees or $300. Source also produced a second National Identity Card #730624786V using that name. Both appeared authentic. He also produced a copy of a visa to the U.A.E. in the name Mohamed Fulail Mohamed. In addition, Source provided an address for the document vendor as an apartment building owned by his father named the SATHOSA BUILDING on Galle Road near a 3-Star gas station.)

    5. (C/NF) Source then stated that he knew of a group of about 100 radical Muslim students at Jayawardana Pura University in Colombo who were associated with the extremist group “Jihad.” After some thought, he identified one member of the group as Mohamed Ansar MINSAR, whose father may be Mohamed Farook FAHIM or Fahim FAROOK. Source provided cell phone numbers for MINSAR as 0777-405-805 and 0777-405-186. Source claimed this “Jihad” group is connected to terrorist training operations in the Eastern Provinces, and some of the students have been under contract with the “Jihad” leadership to develop anthrax.

    6. (C/NF) Finally, Source indicated that Muslims, increasingly frustrated at armed attacks by the LTTE in the East, have formed a militant training camp near Batticaloa for the purpose of defending against the LTTE and to strike against Western interests, including the U.S. Source stated that Iraqis were in the camp, which is supported partially by Sri Lankan Muslims working in Kuwait and sending money to “Jihad.” The camp gets some of its weapons from supportive Muslim police in the region. Source provided the name of one of the Police Chiefs as “Majeed.” The Source also identified Muslim Minister Rauf Hakeem as a supporter of this camp.

    7. (C/NF) When asked why he was providing this information, Source indicated he was unemployed and had a family to support. Source offered to “work” for the embassy and suggested he be allowed to travel to the East to get more details on the camp. RSO replied that the details of his information would be checked and the Embassy would contact him if further information was needed.

    8. (C/NF) RSO action/comment: RSO will attempt to use local contacts to verify information regarding the passport vendor and the existence of a “Jihad” group of students at the university. Information regarding terrorist training in the East will be forwarded to local contacts for further investigation. Results will be forwarded as received. This is the second walk-in in two weeks with information regarding extremist Muslim activity in Sri Lanka. We will continue to monitor increasing Muslim frustration with LTTE attacks against Muslims in the East as one possible indicator of growing radicalism on the part of Muslims in Sri Lanka.

Other terror attacks – over 100
    Dead bodies – 934
    Injured – 1850

Thank g~d most casualties are within their own community. :)

Blame the Jews and now Buddhists (earlier the Crusaders and Shiv Sena) for it!

Doesn’t matter who they blame as long as most casualties are themselves!

Stories of Sri Lankan muslims mistreating buddhists are numerous. Muslims first started mistreating buddhists, as long as I know, first in 1915 in Mahanuwara when they objected to the Mahanuwara – Temple Tooth Procession drum beating.

Most recently, I heard, One colombo muslim businessman did not give the Statutory holiday leave on a buddhist Festival day form one buddhist working for him and his excuse was that businesses could not what every thing the govt says. In contrast to that, soon after than Muslims business man had left for a Mecca Trip in Saudi Arabia.

that is how Sri Lankan muslims persecute Sinhala buddhists in their own country.

Jim, you said that Stories of Sri Lankan muslims mistreating buddhists are “NUMEROUS”. I thought you are going to say hundreds of stories of this nature started from 1915 to 2013. You have disappointed us.

By the way, has the Drum beating of Mahanuwara temple stopped since 1915? And could you name in this public forum the business where the Buddhist person was denied his religious festival day? Let us have an investigation.

        KAYAL:

I don’t think Muslims can stop religious festival days, in Sri Lanka, as those are coming since the ancient time and we are still a majority – buddhist community. So, you cannot do that yet. But, as muslims, even though you live in a majority buddhist country, you don’t respect others, or in this case ours, religious practices. That is why I gave JUST ONE INSTANCE that a muslim businessman went to MECCA but he did not allow his buddhist employee the statutory holiday leave because he was from another religion.

But, see how afghans destroyed Two ancient buddha statues, See how maldive island Muslims destroyed their heritage – ancient buddha statues – in their museum, see how bangladeshi muslims destroyed buddhist, 10 or more, temples of bangladesh buddhists.

Understand the persecution and harassment of other religions, mostly christians, by muslims. So, we would get that in Sri Lanka if we allow Muslims to get their way.

Besides, Kayal, you muslims do, even in Sri Lanka, to your own muslims from other sects. There are so many news reports from Puththalama and Batticaloa areas, such as, how one majority muslim sect did not allow a dead person of a minority muslim to be buried in their village and how muslims from a minority sect were not allowed to conduct their preaching in a majority sect mosque.

Jimsofty, you have not answered to my question? By admittance, you have agreed that an incident happened (as you said) in 1915 was an isolated one and not repeated in Sri Lanka. Buddhists will not allow such thing to happen. Then why you trying create hate myth that is not existing ?

Again, for an isolated incident of a businessman (as you said) why you are trying to mislead people with wrong information. You say “muslims, even though you live in a majority buddhist country, you don’t respect others, or in this case ours, religious practices” Where did SRI LANKAN muslims not respect others.

Jim, we are only discussing about Sri Lankan muslims and injustice done to them by the majority so called Sinhala Buddhists. Don’t you think it is incorrect to compare the situations in Afghanistan, Maldives, Bangladesh etc. If you give an incident about Muslims attack Buddhist religious places, then we have an issue. Please correct your self and show respect to minorities and their freedom to practice their religions.

You don’t need to worry about internal fighting within the minority religions as far as there is no effect or harm to majority Buddhism. You cannot correct them. As a true practicing Buddhist, you should guide the wrong doers in your religion (Philosophy)to correct path. You cannot teach Hindu about his religion and criticize for several castes in their system. Same as for Christians and Muslims.

You people are not attacking others because you are a minority now ,the day you become majority you will show true colors.

Jim “Softy”, Dilantha …whoever you are…erection I do not think .. If your data was right, Gnanasara and his band of thugs marching towards a nasty mission..would have got disrobed and sodomized…after all, general explosion of a population would mean the meat store types, the mudukku types as well…so take your data to some place that would gullibly bite it!

Sick racist! Has not what thousands of Buddhists did in the Black July of 1983 taught you to refocus on the real teaching of Buddhism? The rise and fall of nations is a process that nature seems to orchestrate…we can but change our condition! What we Buddhists did in ’83 …we had to pay though our niss, with our lives…today we are an abandoned nation…even our passport does not fetch a guarantee!

    What an outpouring of hate!
This is what 2500 years of Sinhala Buddhism has brought us?

EVERY community and faith group appears to have been taken over by fraudulent stooges of the MARA government, beginning with the Buddhist priests who are bought and paid for with Mercedes and Cardinals for whom other favours are granted.

Muslims are no exception and politicians, from the Rauf Hakeems to the local Muslim “community leaders” think that their futures are bright if they tag along behind the MARA government.

It is up to the “followers” to wake up to the fact that their “leaders” are insincere, selfish frauds only feathering their own nests. Only when they get rid of these parasitic “enemies within” can they even start to get justice for themselves and others of their own and other faiths.

YOU TALK ABOUT MUSLIM PERSECUTION BY SINHALA – BUDDHISTS IN SRI LANKA.

READ how Muslims persecute other religions – mostly muslims and christians – in other parts of the world.

“Before Egypt’s President Muhammad Morsi was ousted, April was one of the worst months for Christian Copts there. On April 5 near Cairo, when a longstanding feud between a Christian family and a Muslim family—based on male Muslims sexually harassing Christian girls—culminated in the violent deaths of six Christians, including two of the participants, a Christian and a Muslim, being set on fire, local Muslims went on another “collective punishment” spree. It resulted in the injury of at least 20 other Copts, an Evangelical church being set on fire, and an attack on a Coptic church, Two days later, after Copts had mourned their dead in the St. Mark Cathedral—Coptic Christianity’s holiest site and home to the Coptic pope—Muslim mobs, who had waited outside, launched yet another attack—aided by state security forces. Eyewitnesses said as many as 40-50 tear gas canisters targeted the mourners, many of whom were women and children hiding in the cathedral. Two more Copts were killed and many dozens wounded as other officers stood by while the Muslim mob tried to destroy the cathedral.

On one Friday after prayers, the Bilal Ibn Rabah Mosque in Cairo was turned into a “torture chamber” for Egyptians, many of whom were Christians, protesting the Muslim Brotherhood. One of the victims, Amir Ayad, a Christian, said he was severely beaten before being left for dead at the side of the road. He suffered a fractured skull, a broken arm, bleeding in his right eye and pellet wounds. Coptic Christian children, mostly boys, were targeted for kidnapping and held for ransom; one 6-year-old, after his family had paid the Muslim kidnapper, was killed. And a video appeared on Arabic-language websites showing a crowd of Muslims in Egypt assaulting and raping two Christian women on a crowded street and in broad daylight. Throughout, the women scream in terror as the men shout Islamic slogans such as “Allahu Akbar” “[Allah is Greater.] None of the many passersby intervenes in any way.

Also in April, during Easter week in Nigeria, Muslim herdsmen launched a series of raids, killing at least 80 Christians, on Christian villages. Most of those slain were either children or the elderly. Over 200 Christian homes were destroyed, eight churches burned, and 4,500 Christians displaced. According to a pastor present at the time, “It was a helpless situation, as no Christians had any weapon to fight back. Women, children, and the elderly who were not able to escape were shot and killed. Luckily, all my children are in school, so this made it easier for our escape from the Muslim attackers. We sneaked away in the midst of the confusion and trekked for more than 20 kilometers [12 miles] to find a place to stay.”

Categorized by theme, the rest of April’s Muslim persecution of Christians around the world includes (but is not limited to) the following accounts, listed by theme and in country alphabetical order, not necessarily according to severity:

    Church Attacks

Central African Republic: A number of church buildings were attacked and the homes of Christians looted in the aftermath of a bloody coup by Sharia-adherent Muslim rebels. During the chaos, as in a standard jihad, Christian property was targeted for plundering, while Muslim property was spared. The leader of the Muslim rebels, Michel Djotodia, “assumed the presidency from the ousted François Bozizé, becoming the predominantly Christian nation’s first Muslim president.” According to one Christian, “We are no longer at home. They pillage our goods which are then sold by the Muslims, who export them.”

Indonesia: Local officials, at the behest of Islamist forces, demolished the Batak Protestant Church building in West Java and threatened to close others, causing hundreds of Christians to protest in the streets. Once again, as happens with increasing regularity in Indonesia, congregation members then held services in the street, near the site of the destroyed church. As the Morning Star News added: Indonesian officials routinely delay or deny church building permits… thus providing Islamic extremists a pretext for protests and attacks.” Newspapers covering the event posted photos of “church members in tears—singing hymns, crying and begging local officials not to demolish their facility. Hundreds of police and army officers guarded the area while Muslim militants, shouting Koranic verses, cheered the excavator.”

Saudi Arabia: Apparently once again “The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia—the top Islamic official in the country of Saudi Arabia—has [again] declared that it is ‘necessary to destroy all the churches of the region.” ( First reported here over a year ago.)

Sudan: In the latest of a series of moves that have put pressure on Christians, a Muslim government minister announced that no new licenses will be granted for church buildings; he claimed that the existing churches are sufficient for the number of worshippers. Building churches has, in fact, been disallowed since South Sudan seceded in July 2011; the Islamist government of Khartoum responded by making the lives of Christians in Sudan even more difficult than usual. Days before this latest measure, the government deported a senior church leader and two expatriate missionaries who had been working with children in Khartoum. No reason was given. The government has also demolished countless church buildings on the pretext of paperwork irregularities.

Turkey: A 13th century church building, the Hagia Sophia of Trabizon (not to be confused with Constantinople’s famous Hagia Sophia) is set to become a mosque again.

After the Ottoman conquest it had been turned from a church into a mosque, but later, under Turkey’s secularist President, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and apparently due to its “great historical and cultural significance” for Christians, it had been turned into a museum. Local authorities decreed that its Christian frescoes must again be covered in preparation for its reopening as a mosque. [Update: As of July, the Hagia Sophia of Trabizon has become a functioning mosque.]

    Apostasy, Blasphemy, Proselytism

India Kashmir: In Srinagar, a Muslim mob attacked two men, five women and two children, all of British origin, on the accusation that they were preaching Christianity. The mob also threw stones at their vehicles and tried to destroy their home. The police, however, when they arrived, arrested the two men on, according to Asia News, “false charges of forced conversions.” The local imam told police that, “if they try to convert anyone, I will prevent it at all costs.” According to a Christian close to the case, “The false and defamatory accusations of the imam and the complicity of the police in arresting these Christians are a serious threat to religious freedom, a right guaranteed by the Constitution of India.” Also in Srinagar, another Muslim mob attacked a Christian-children’s home, beat the staff and visitors, tried to kill the pastor and kidnap the children, destroyed property, and killed the home’s pet dog—again on the accusation that the group running the home was converting Muslim children to Christianity.

Somalia: Muslims from the Islamic organization Al Shabaab (“The Youth”) shot to death 42-year-old Fartun Omar, a widow and mother of five, for converting to Christianity. Months earlier, they had killed her husband for the same “crime,” and had been hunting for the wife, who, after abandoning Islam, had gone in hiding. She leaves behind five orphaned children. Separately, Al Shabaab Muslims also seized Hassan Gulled, 25, for leaving Islam and converting to Christianity, and imprisoned him, and tortured him. According to local sources, “Al Shabaab have been torturing him to see whether he would deny his Christian faith. Since last week, no information has surfaced concerning Gulled. There is a possibility that he could have been killed.”

Tanzania: After a visit by an evangelist, Lukia Khalid, a Muslim mother of three and nearly seven months pregnant, converted to Christianity; she later said: “My husband asked me whether I had left Islam, to which I said ‘Yes.’ He threatened to kill me if I was to stay with him. I then decided to escape that night with my three children to a neighbor’s house…. We left only with the clothes that we were wearing. The command was so urgent that we could not wait any longer. We had to leave immediately.” Unable to pay school fees and supplies without her husband, the children have stopped attending school.

    Dhimmitude

[General Abuse of Non-Muslims as Third-Class “Citizens,” or Dhimmis]

Iran: A new report, based on interviews with 31 Christians and produced by the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, has found “that the authorities consistently treat standard Christian practices, such as being a member of a house church or attending a Christian conference, as criminal acts. Although the Iranian government claims to respect the rights of its recognised religious minorities, it does not do so in practice. The report found that Christian converts and members of unregistered churches are denied the right freely to practise their faith, and that they face violations of their right to life through extrajudicial killings and even execution for apostasy (though only one Christian convert is known to have been executed since the 1979 Islamic Revolution).”

Pakistan: According to the Morning Star News, “Incited by calls from mosque loudspeakers after a dispute between Muslim and Christian youths, which started when Muslims told Christians not to play music [ forbidden in Islam] a Muslim mob attacked a Christian neighborhood in Gujranwala today, injuring at least five Christians and damaging a church and dozens of shops and vehicles…. A resident of Francis Colony, where 2,000 Christian families have settled in the overwhelmingly Muslim-majority country, said police bias was evident in today’s attack. ‘The police was doing what it does best – nothing!’ said Asif Barkat, who received minor injuries as he and other Christians tried to defend themselves. ‘Their bias towards Christians is quite evident, because when the Muslims were raiding our church and property, they just watched, but when we confronted them, they started hitting us with batons and used live ammunition to deter us.’” Separately, two unidentified men tried by force to stop the car of the president of All Pakistan Minorities, Saleem Khursheed Khobar, a Christian, and when that failed, opened fire on him. As with other Christian human rights activists who have been assassinated in Pakistan, Khobar is being hounded for vocally representing the nation’s downtrodden religious minorities: “I am being threatened and have gone into hiding to protect myself,” he said from an undisclosed location. “Law enforcement agencies know that I am being followed. My whole family is under threat but the government doesn’t care.”

Syria: Christians continued to be targeted by Islamic rebels, especially for kidnapping. Among those abducted were two bishops, Bishop Yohanna Ibrahim and Bishop Paul Yazigi. An armed group of Chechen jihadis stopped their car, killed the driver, and took the two bishops hostage. Meanwhile, thousands of Christians continued to flee Syria. In in one instance, 500 crossed the border into Turkey, where church officials are considering building a “tent city” to house the refugees. Adds AINA: “Assyrians and other Christians in Syria have been disproportionately affected by the war, and have been targeted by the Muslims rebels. The Muslim Jihadists have kidnapped Assyrians for ransom, attacked places of worship and created a climate of fear, forcing many Assyrians to abandon their homes and villages and seek safety in Turkey.”

Turkey: Erdal Dogan, a human rights defender, who played an important role in the trial of the 2007 Malatya massacre, against those Muslims who tortured and slaughtered three Christian men working in a Bible publishing house, “remained in life danger Friday, April 12, after receiving death threats,” including from the defendants, one of whom threatened him during a hearing.

    About this Series

Because the persecution of Christians in the Islamic world is on its way to reaching pandemic proportions, “Muslim Persecution of Christians” was developed to collate some—by no means all—of the instances of persecution that surface each month. It serves two purposes:

    1) To document that which the mainstream media does not: the habitual, if not chronic, Muslim persecution of Christians.

    2) To show that such persecution is not “random,” but systematic and interrelated—that it is rooted in a worldview inspired by Sharia.

Accordingly, whatever the anecdote of persecution, it typically fits under a specific theme, including hatred for churches and other Christian symbols; sexual abuse of Christian women; forced conversions to Islam; apostasy and blasphemy laws that criminalize and punish with death those who “offend” Islam; theft and plunder in lieu of jizya (financial tribute expected from non-Muslims); overall expectations for Christians to behave like dhimmis, or second-class, “tolerated” citizens; and simple violence and murder. Sometimes it is a combination.

Because these accounts of persecution span different ethnicities, languages, and locales—from Morocco in the West, to India in the East, and throughout the West wherever there are Muslims—it should be clear that one thing alone binds them: Islam—whether the strict application of Islamic Sharia law, or the supremacist culture born of it. “

Anyway, some thing good for Muslims.

Muslims believe in making children in large numbers so that they have a bigger muslim community.

Sri Lankan – Buddhists are entrapped in the greedy society and make only one or mostly two children. In order to a society exist, it should make more than two children by every family. Sinhala buddhists are not producing children mean sinhala -buddhists will be in extinct mostly in two generations. So, that means, in another 100 years, Sri Lanka will be mostly a Muslim country. Because, Christians are also more for money and not for children. Oil countries are rich only because of oil.

      @ Jim softly,

The 70% of family life are unsuccessful in Sri Lanka, the medical research says. That is the reason you have problem in your Buddhist community. Nothing to blame Muslims for your internal problems. try to educate your people for the good family life.

It is so shocking to read the muslims defending what is there to see everyday to know what Islam is. Every single war over the last 50 years is involved by the Muslims. That is how peaceful it is. I am not surprised as they are following the criminal leader MuhaMaD. Now they are killing each other and I personally believe Allah wants to see blood or else why he/she allows innocent Muslim women and children being killed by other Muslims? Sunnis and Shiates kill each other even during the Ramadhan their suppose to be the holiest month and Allah can’t even protect his/her muslims during this month and this same Allah is suppose to have created everything but can’t protect the innocent babies and children. Anyone who has an iaota of a brain can think clearly except who are blinded by Islam and it is like many millions followed blindly Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot. Otherwise how come Allah selected a man who can’t read or write as the prophet? I think it is because he can be easily mislead and get the dirty work done. The same man raped a young girl Aisha at the age of 6 years and killed many Jews including women having 32 wives. How come MuhaMAD died of poisioning by a woman and suffered? How come Allah gives 72 virgins to criminals who will other and kill themselves in the name of Allah? Isn’t common sense to realise what a load of rubbish created by a PSYCHOPATH killer MuhaMAD.

So you argument is absolute garbage. Don’t accuse just because you are sick inside and out, hope someday the god will purify you and make you a better person.

Umesh, I hope your so called imagined Allah will help you to answer these simple questions.
    1. Do you know the first sign of Schizophrenia?
    2. Do you know how many mad people who claimed to talk and hear GOD’s voice are in Mental hospitals around the world including Saudi Arabia?
    3. Do you know MuhaMaD can’t read or write?
    4. Do you know how many humans MuhaMAD killed? (if you don’t I will quote from Koran)
    5. Do you know how old Aisha when MuhaMAD took her for his pleasure using her legs until she attended puberty at the age of 9?
    6. DO you know who poisioned MuhaMAD?
    7. Do you know how much MuhaMAD suffer before he died from poisioning?
    8. Do you his Allah didn’t help him even in his dying bed?
    9. Do you know how many Virgins Allaj will give you if you sacrifise your life in the name of Allah even by killing other innocent babies and children?
    10. Why Allah the Almighty allowing Sunni Muslims kill Shiette Muslims and vise versa in the Mosques in this holy month while praying for Allah?
I think this will be enough for the small brain you have, but I will get the difficult ones later if you can honestly and correctly answer these.
Good luck and hope Allah will help you to find answers.
