The architect of the Presidential and the preference voting system, JRJ is the biggest traitor Sri Lanka had and will ever have. His objective was to have the UNP winning all elections and never cared for the future of the country. It has created so much corruption in our political system and created monsters such as Chandrika, Rajapakse and even the present president. Everyone is talking about a change but after coming to power they conveniently forget about it. I feel it is only the JVP which has a genuine interest in scrapping this corrupt system. Preferential voting system too has ensured that only rich businessmen, thugs and other dealmakers who can spend a lot of money over the entire district can win an election. No decent, educated person with limited funds can aspire to be a parliamentarian.

If they abolish executive presidency, the PM should be elected island wide and not one just elected from an electrical district. If not it is going from fradulent Parliamentary system more in to FRaud. Ranil and his govt does not have anything to show so he is using thee executive presidency which he never will get and only way he gets is buy pushing away the PResident who appointed him to be the PM. For a decent group of TRUE Leaders, whether it is president or PM or not, does not matter. In Sri lanka, present situation without the President is important then NGOs and their funding agencies can have their way. But, the international community has lot of experience all over the world by ruining many countries and even continents.In a country in which the all parliamentarians are Professional corrupts,. It’s a big YES for abolishing the Presidential style for SL.
Provincial Councils limited to 5 with enough powers to bring real developments is needed as well.
Abolish Governors for the Provinces as well ASAP.
We do not want the Provincial Councils as is to have elections at the present time as well as Presidential Election for this year. We should cease the Post of the President as and when it finishes in November this year.
The Parliament takes control from then on till the next Parliamentary election.
What we need is a MEGA Referendum on how to bring constitutional changes so that Judiciary will have more power and above the corrupt dictators.
