Ali Baba Ranil & 40+ Rogues

By Vishwamithra

“It shouldn’t take extreme courage and a willingness to go to prison for decades or even life to blow the whistle on bad government acts done in secret. But it does. And that is an immense problem for democracy, one that all journalists should be united in fighting.” ~ Glenn Greenwald

Thirty seven (38) Ministers of State have just been appointed. They included, among others, the latest to be sworn in as State Minister of Ports and Aviation, the convicted killer in Ratnapura district- Premalal Jayasekara. Amongst the Cabinet of Ministers are included the usual suspects, ranging from Nimal Siripala de Silva to Prsanna Ranatunga, the alleged bribe takers. They would enjoy the same perks as they used to during the corrupt Rajapaksa-regimes. Ranil Wickremesinghe has not shown any departure from the crooked and immoral conduct of his predecessors. When the main battle cry was for a fundamental change in the system in which all our post-independent political leaders were rooted, a mere substitution with the same old personalities and further entrenchment in the same old muddy and murky Sri Lankan politics has become the order of the day.

Ranil Wickremesinghe has once again shown how not to govern a country and how not to do politics. No wonder he had been defeated time after time in the local electoral politics. This recurrent habit of almost all our political leaders that they could be assured of comfort only within their own cocoons surrounded by their own cohorts has cost the country dearly. Such pitiful conduct of our leaders may have reinforced their own safety, their own grandeur and their own inheritance, but the fate and destination of a country at large and her people in particular is left entirely in the hands of some crooked politicians elected to seats of power at election after election.

Against such a tragic backdrop and insufferably tortuous context, analysis of the prevailing conditions is not as hard as one would expect. Nonetheless, the question of succession, the question of the smooth process of power-change remains as bothersome as ever for all citizenry. Sacrifices made by her soldiers as well as ordinary men and women during the thirty-year war with Tamil militants should not be forgotten; at the same time, the unspoken atrocities committed by some of our soldiers on orders of their military commanders against innocent Tamil people, if proven guilty, should not go unpunished.

All the ill-effects of majoritarian rule are being felt, experienced and suffered, not by those leaders who decree orders but by the ordinary man and woman who day in and day out sweat and bleed, to use a much hacked cliché, to put food on the table. For Ranil Wickremesinghe and his ill-prepared men who crowd the corridors of power at present, these realities are not existent. For them, whether they hail from the Pohottuwa group or that graveyard of politics called the United National Party (UNP), the current situation is another opportunity for merry-making stage of self-enrichment.

The Aragalaya that developed into an almost frenzy-style uprising during the period between April/2022 to June/2022 failed in that, fleeing of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa from the seat of Presidency is no victory. The system-change that the youth of today demanded and dreamed about is not anywhere near now; in fact, it seems to have receded beyond one’s horizon of visibility. Inclusion of youth representing the middleclass and upper middleclass amongst the Aragalakaruwos was an indication that their demands were merely limited to the availability of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. For them the concept of system change is as alien as torrential rain to a thirsty and parched earth.

The youth led by the Inter University Student Federation (IUSF), especially the educated young men and women and the activist groups of arts and literature whose vocal powers are recognizably more powerful than others are being subjected to unceasing harassment and state-led intimidation. These are not good signs of good governance. Alibaba Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to unleash some powers he never experienced in his failed leadership in the olden days.

On the other hand, Alibaba Ranil, as shown in his latest appointments of the Cabinet and State Ministers, has surrounded himself with the same old thieves and rogues who don’t deserve even a class- monitorship when they were in school, if they ever attended any educational institutions. Such is the brutal fate of our country today. It’s a henhouse run by a cabal of cunning and deranged foxes. Salivating with greed and potentiality of premature climax, these charlatans have come together again, now under different but fundamentally constituted in the same mindset; they do not seem to understand the nuanced flow of political currents. Nor do they make any attempt at engineering a new path for the troubled present of the country and would invariably lead to a dangerous and ominous future which they know they would not live to experience.

Making the country’s woes their pliable tool and hiding behind a fake screen of international threat, our current set of rulers is willingly taking their subject people for an immense ride. At the end of this run, what awaits the arrivals is as vague and imprecise as the morning mist that evaporates with the slightest of sunshine.

What the people would never ever forgive them is their total lack of empathy. They, the current cabal of rulers and their cacophonic policy declarations, would eventually lead us all into an abyss of political and economic catastrophe; if it has not already happened, it’s certainly emerging in the not-so-distant skyline.

What an ordinary and mediocre ruler does in the circumstances of impending doom, as has been written and displayed in the pages of history, is to gather a set of closest friends and relatives whose vested interests are akin to the ruler’s, and listen, if he or she chooses to listen at all, to them and them alone. Those who surround the leader at moments of crisis too would find themselves in the same shoes, so to speak. Their primary purpose is to safeguard and protect and advance, even at the cost of the country, their vested interests. The people’s wellbeing and their wishes, their dreams and their ambitions are all submerged in this moment and a new set of aims, purposes and ambitions will emerge: the narrow and parochial ambitions of the leader and his friends and relatives. It is indeed a tragic reality of the so-called ‘spirit of man’.

In that cruel context, Ali Baba Ranil and his 40+ rogues are no different. This is the time for those who dream about a system change or a new reality, a reality that is related more to the wellbeing of the majority and social justice, to act decisively. It could be extremely unrealistic to envision such a dreamy beginning; a more acceptable actuality.

Elie Wiesel, Romanian-born American writer, professor, political activist, Nobel laureate and prisoner in the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps, says thus: “there may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” Therefore, we Sri Lankans must realize that, in the grueling circumstances of economic hardship and social injustice, protest and demonstration of our collective anger and rage against injustice, corruption and nepotism is not a privilege in the hands of the so-called middleclass and the upper middleclass but an essential tool in the paws of the proletariat, the working men and women whose struggle is one unending function in the architecture of social justice. The irony of that architecture is not predesigned style or nuanced lines of fine art and craft, but a developing and ever renewing design; an upending machine whose turning will stop only when the whole un-designed patterns are in place at the right time and right place.

Such inscrutable intentions will not manifest themselves in mediocre men; nor would they materialize in incurious minds of the ordinary. Richness of mind and abundance of creativity is not the exclusive right of the materially rich and superficially glorious, it is the cutting and pressing plier in the rough and coarse hands of the working man, whether they are ordinary men and women, commonplace craftsman, plumber, mason or a three-wheel driver or an educated engineer, a doctor or an accountant.

A streaming mass of people marching more towards a mythical dream-like purpose than tangible goals and aims must be more ready to identify the lines between myth and reality. Those leaders, from whichever layer of society they  emerge, should make it a point to apply more realistic and tangible methods of finishing a struggle; an end-oriented journey instead of a leaderless, rudderless boat meandering on unsettling waters of social upheaval.

Abstract as well as realistic goals must be set and ruthlessly pursued with realistic timelines and rigorous discipline. Are we ready for such a campaign of social change? Frugal living for the majority of Sri Lankans and austerity as was evident during the Sirimavo Bandaranaike-era, will begin dominating the living conditions and turn every household into a battle zone for survival; whilst such conditions would make upper-class living more adventurous, the average men and women would find their conditions worsen on a daily basis and even end up in sporadic suicides and rampant looting of the rich. Yet, Alibaba Ranil and his 40+ rogues will rejoice in the misery of the public and that is a real calamity.

Vishwa, you may be right. Appears they are deeply immersed in thoughts of which funds to loot next ?? Vajira seems to be the best stand up comedian in town. He told media ” other countries are afraid of Ranil” .

Pohottuwa Economic Hitman Basil Jarapassa is a US citizen and Ranil Rajapakse a US puppet.
This regime of knaves and crooks was brought in so the the Washington CONsensus and Colonial Club of Paris can re-colonize Lanka, with the CIA choreographed Aragalaya players and actors…!
What Lanka needs is a ban on borrowing from Private Caital markets, Vulture funds like BlackRock and Hamilton Reserve Bank, Allianz, Amundi, UBS etc. and the unless the names of the Bond Holders are reveals outright debt cancellation of ALL ISB Debt.
US is using Debt Trap diplomacy and the UNHRC Human Rights Hipocrisy to erode Lanka’s sovereignty and policy autonomy and colonize it.

I believe Ranil appointed 37 ministers to rescue/resurrect the bankrupt country.

Unlike other Lankans …….. Ranil is wisdom and virtue personified.

I also believe in many other things ………………..

Nimal, Ranil is not done yet, There is more appointments to come, including Namal. This is system change Lanka style. Rajapaksas are desperate to revamp party to get back to power. So their plan is to have mega party conference with new catchy slogan ” Make Sri Lanka great again”.??? or may be “lock them up” (Aragalaya) ?? Rumor is to invite BJP Supremo Amit Shah as special guest. If not Stupid Swamy will show up .

As in last time, if Return of the Rajapaksas gets repeated, no one can blame Ranil anymore because his allegiance is to SLPP which he currently represent. They not only made him PM and later President, he is solely dependent on their support to continue as President. One strategy may be to sideline senile Rajapaksas but Mahinda remaining as puppet / ring master in the background, as Mentor / honorary chairmen of party, get all the Rajapaksa off springs in, giving them power and see that the family kleptocracy continues unabated. Namal already claimed credit for SL winning Asia Cup so that next slogan can be “if Namal can bring back Asia cup “???, just like “if Gotha can end war”???? Who knows, 6.9 can become 9.6 million.

Machiavelli Ranil is tasked with or taken it upon himself to create a Monarch, well starting with Prince Namal baby, King Rajapaksa, …… abdicated king Gota, …. What qualification/right do they, you may ask.
All kingdoms and kings/queens have been known to steal from their people, other countries, ……

              Native,
The biggest thief in the country is NOT Ranil, or the Rajapaksas, or their acolytes.
No this guy is the very clever one who started from jackpot machines, relieving kids of their pocket money, then progressed to disguised brothels and gambling dens to relieve the rich of THEIR billions, then used such proceeds to pump the Stock Market and buy up hitherto respected companies. All perfectly legal and tax-free of course. Now he has cornered everything from ceramics to hotels. He got the Rajapakses to ban ceramic imports, and was briefly even appointed a Minister by them.
Y’all know who I’m taking about, right?

I am aware of Ceramic story.
At the same time I lost track of gambling/brothel business.
Gambling was connected to Triad, and linked to General Ranjan’s assassination.

It seems ……. somewhere along the line …….. Lankans are all the same.

Hope Old Codger won’t be reading this! :))

Diehard Ranil critic EE is arrested …….. Ranil is secretly daily watching him being tortured while talking to his friend MBS on the phone comparing notes: if there was no shortage of acid, he would be done ……….. when I saw his twisted face talking to that foreign journo ……. I saw all the way to Batalanda ……

All Lankan pols are so sick ……… most of all Ranil …….

I can see in this forum some readers are satisfied that Aragalaya failed (their perception not mine) because they predicted so.

“You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.” – Abraham Lincoln ?

In order to have balanced approach to my comments I quote from Mao’s speech, his favourite fable ” The Foolish Old Man Removes the Mountains “.
              https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/mao/selected-works/volume-3/mswv3_26.htm

The story is all bout perseverance.
The reactionary Deng Xiaoping once said:
“It doesn’t matter whether a cat is white or black, as long as it catches mice?”

This quote aptly fits Aragalaya, whether it is Maoist or Stalinists, socialists or liberals, left or right, perseverance must make them realise right from wrong. Therefore the hardcore, capitalists, communists, fascists, socialists, …….. Maoist should now find place to shove their ideology and chose what is best for the people.

              Aragalaya is not dead yet.
SJ and his fellow naysayers should wipe their smug.

Native, the way people keep flip flopping about Aragalaya is just unbelievable. If bankruptcy, failures, lack of food/medicine ,crisis cannot convince people, what else can ?? Opinions keep varying , from time to time, according to individual’s needs. Wide allegations to questioning who is Aragalaya, their purpose, NGO backed, international conspiracy, anti democratic, anti govt, anti democratic, unconstitutional, fascism, JVP sponsored, diaspora financed, anti Buddhist / christian ( Jesus would have not agreed) , failures . . . . to LJ calling them immoral. Never showed this much concerns against Rajapaksas, govt, politicians, who are the real causes.

        Dinuk

Do you remember what happened to Dr Segu Shihabdeen Mohamed Shafi in 2019. Many Saffron thugs including Gnanasara, Athuraliye, Kottawagama, and highly EDUCATED Wimal Weerawansa, professor Channa, Dr A.M.S. Weerabandara, accused Dr Shafi in a carefully orchestrated character assassination campaign of being involved in misconduct of sterlising Sinhala/Buddhist women as part of Wahabi terrorism.

Now Dr Shafi has been found innocent, have the authorities done something to punish the mudslinging bigoted racists, who endangered Dr’s life.

Hope Sinhala Man, nimal fernando, old codger, Nathan and others will agree with me if those saffron thugs and other racists are being thrown in prison for a minimum period of rigorous imprisonment.

          Dear NV,
          .
Time to publicly praise Dr Safi and publicly apologize to Dr. Safi. Impact of that would be much higher than ever believed.

Mahinda Rajapakse is obliged to take the lead in that grand event. If nothing would work in that nature, as if Dr. Safi and his family were not harmed, their psychological wounds would not end up healing.
Shame on us as a ” nation”, for not announcing anything yet. Not a single religious leader offered a public apology.
It was none other than Mahinda and his minions who created lies leading to a fake public perception. Otherwise, his coffin will suffer the same fate as his parents’ memorials on May 9, 2022.
          .
It is said that during those 3 brutal years, the Safi family faced all the untold stories. The Rajapaksas should come forward to make a gesture. This country belongs to all citizens. period.

This time around gullible people didn’t buy what the racist were selling free of charge. Shameless Channa Jeyasumana the self appointed guardian of Sinhala/Buddhists was immediately rewarded by Gota/Mahinda. He was appointed a minister.

The saffron thugs were/are free of any sanctions.

However the people still respect and in some cases fear Mahanayakes although they fail in their duties. What can we do when the religious authorities encourage their monks by ignoring Vinaya rules and procedures?

The day anyone gets justice, pig will be flying.

Honest people are banged up for doing their job or for expressing their views while convicted murderers are set free. Human rights abuses, racism & blatant corruption are acceptable & those responsible walk free, & are even pillars of society. I have lost hope in a country where murderers, thugs, drug lords & even petty criminals & bum suckers govern, professionals, even judiciary are happy to prostitute their integrity & cronies of all sorts, from peons to civil servants, eagerly await whatever scraps that may drop from the head table. Is it surprising?

My patriotic friends in SL tell me that I am living as a third class citizen, which maybe true, & there may be inherent racism in UK but I can still expect justice here than in SL.

“Sacrifices made by her soldiers as well as ordinary men and women during the thirty-year war with Tamil militants should not be forgotten; at the same time, the unspoken atrocities committed by some of our soldiers on orders of their military commanders against innocent Tamil people, if proven guilty,”
And who, dear Vishwamitra, is going to prove them guilty? The judiciary is stuffed full of people who cannot think beyond “sacrifices made by our soldiers”, and there are many powerful people and clergy, who think that the military should be on a non-accountable pedestal. Is there any guarantee that convicted murderers won’t be released again? It seems the recent actions of the military against the Aragalaya have shaken the faith of many including the author. Does this “system change ” include installing unbiased judiciary (that means foreigners) and cutting the Maha Sangha down to size? If not, why?
Already powerful monks are demanding free electricity. Some have got bills in hundreds of thousands, showing how much energy they have wasted on pointless fripperies.
“Yet, Alibaba Ranil and his 40+ rogues will rejoice in the misery of the public and that is a real calamity.”
Well, isn’t it ironic that Alibaba is the only one who locked up war criminals?

      OC
After hearing the Alibaba analogy for months, thought occurred that Alibaba was no crook and that he was eternally in conflict with the thieves.
He was crafty and seized the loot hidden in a cave, but his wife was craftier, and killed all but the chieftain of the thieves in one go.
And finally stabbed the big thief at a party in his honour.
Can we recast our equivalents based on the original narrative.
I am sure that plenty will love to be called Alibaba then.

I do not think that the struggle for freedom from oppression is lost, simply because there is no one at Galle Face Green anymore. While the ever-hopeful idiots who vote at each election will settle for available petrol and gas, slightly lowered prices of major essentials and a slight easing of their misery (by the crooks secretly selling off who knows what in national assets) the educated and frustrated youth will organize, unite and empower their colleagues to make that sacrifice of potential prison or injury and death to fight for a free and secure future for their children. They must all emerge with the backing of the population at large and make governance impossible by staging Satyagraha like the Mahatma Gandhi did against the oppressive British Raj. Elections will never deliver any reassurance that can ever be relied on. This system must be changed by the will of the people, now.

Vishwamithra writes with one goal, i,e disheartening the Protesters and forcing them to abandon the protest, finally. He keeps writing some nincompoop things. Protest was not a crazy start as he portrays. It was a well-disciplined uprising without any political association. But the double game players and Koolukkum Paadi Kanchikkum Paadi Vishwamithra like writers promoted the “Anarchy” theory and promoted Ranil (If Evil Ranil was not there, those men and women might have brought someone of similar caliber.) The most important thing about Protesters is they, for the first time in Langkang history, have convinced the lower end that UNP & SLFP factions are the same wine, but one is in a round barrel bottle and other one is in square barrel bottle. Now Ranil has dodged the election. But reality is, in the next election, not just he, even Rowdy Royals will be getting their wages handsomely. In one movie the comedian Nagesh, when the king offered a prize for his poem was denied by the Royal Court Chief poet, said: “Some poets write poems and get rewards, but some find faults in those poems and get prizes. I guess you know which category you are in those two”. Like Nagesh, Vishwamithra is in the writing category, but again, he too writes only to claim his prize, but not to bring out the truth.

    • 6
      2

While Vishwamithra was fast asleep, protesters decided draw energy from middle class and educated mass because the 6.9 M voted to Royals were thought by all as hardcore Sinhala Buddhists. This time, Sinhala Buddhists too supported the protesters but very quickly succumbed to the Old Rowdy’ technique at the Temple Tree and they went and set fire to Ministers’ houses. That action gave justification for Evil Ranil arresting under PTA many genuine leaders to suppress protest. Anyway, not much harm is done because the universe knows what happened. The American “Foreign Relation Committee” report is complete proof for that.

Now the protestors are on a break. The ball is in the court of UNHRC & IC. Countries at UNHRC must clearly understand something: “Without ICC investigation of war crime/genocide Tamils cannot get back their life; without Protesters’ victory, Sinhalese will not be able to get back their life back.” A change in the ruling party, or the list of ministers or few more MPs or even the whole 225 Afghani donkeys in the parliament, will not bring the change protesters are asking for. It is a bottom-up job, it must come from the mass! So, UNHRC has to pick up the ball and throw it to the abled player. UNHRC may not let this chance too to slip and thus force the whole in Ceylon to lose the game.

The PUBLIC OPINION unquestionably is to kick out “225” MPs from the Legislature. But unfortunately, they continue to DOMINATE the STATE Administration unconcerned.

In the circumstances, there is no need to talk so much of these “VAGABONDS” anymore and consider any proposed “PACKAGES” of Political, Economic, and Social changes.

Just get rid of the entire GANG of CRIMINALS. The PUBLIC must NOW get ready for it.

Dear Simon Mahatmaya (not mahaththya)/ I thought you must have been disturbingly ill for the past few days, where your Siamese twin BROTHER reacted like crazy (sinhala_man). Anyway, good to see you back in the field.
Were you not alive before November 2019? Were the same voters misled by the middlemen and re-elected the same MLAs? Isn’t it?
–
All will become clear to anyone outside of Sri Lanka reading the facts about Sri Lanka, however, by 2015 the Rajapaksas were clearly marginalized as world thieves, not only by us, but also world powerful communitie (UK, Germany, Canada and several other nations, they had only swaziland, Belarus and China on their side by 2015).
None of them were accepted by a common wealthy nation. GON Mahinda was not recognized by the UK, remember? It was thanks to the late Mangala that many of the wrecks deliberately created by Mahinda Balla could be ironed out for the benefit of the public. That’s how good governance reclaimed GSP Plus. Our people are ungrateful animals looking back. How well they achieved in the first two years of good governance…Medanumala animals were beyond all record as leaders.

I think that not only some members of parliament, but also people should be punished by civic rights. Most of those who voted for the Rajapaksas and their henchmen in November 2019 should be banned from voting.
:
Even though they clearly say that the Rajapaksas are our deadliest cancer in this nation, even now your beloved Janata Vimukthi Peramuna is not making every effort to attack the Rajapaksas.
Why are JVPs attacking UNP and SJB instead?
.. The JVP does not attack the Rajapaksas much, and still – to this day – does not reveal much about them.

In a civilized world, the Rajapaksas would have been killed one after another to appease the nation.
That is why I still respect Libyans for their brave action against Gaddafi and his families in October 2011. They should be placed above the people because they did their work for the betterment of the people of that country destroyed by Gaddafi. his family
:
Then how do you ask to expel 225 MPs? The biggest failure is that the voters who support Rajapakse rascals are still in the front. That is why I believe that even if your beloved Janata Vimukthi Peramuna leaves prematurely, there will be no change in the upcoming elections. This nation and their politicians are equally responsible for this mess, no one else.

My Dear LM: I am much alive and well. The above comments made by you completely illuminate your continued desire to ignore the TRUTH and FACTS (Reality) of the “Failures” (committed willingly) by the Yahapalanaya Good Governance since coming into being in 2015 January 9th to the end of 2019 and the role played by the JVP since March 2015 (Revealing the Bond Scam) to the FILING of 134 cases against Rajapakses with the Bribery Commission and still continuing to INFORM the Public through countrywide District Level meetings with NPP participation.

Listen, all they have destroyed in 2.5 years from 2019 is nothing compared to what they have lost under good governance. And no government has destroyed the country so much before. The bond scam was introduced not by the GG administration but by the Cabral-Mara duo under the MR administration as early as 2008.

I have met two Chartered Accountants in London. We discussed it again and again. It is very clear that it was a conspiracy by the Rajapaksa gang to trap Ranil. There they were successful and the UNP was marginalized. At the same time, the JVP dropped from 5 to 3 in Parliament. Isn’t it?
I wished that more Janatha Vimukthi Peramunas would be formed in the Parliament, but my wish was lost like never before. I believe, JVPs are not yet mature enough to govern, but they need to gather more experience in Sri Lankan politics. Both people and politicians are extremely corrupt in Sri Lanka which is now known to the entire nation.
In retrospect, they succeeded the SLPPs twice in one fell swoop. Isn’t that the aim of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna by November 2019? However, it was based on false foundation, false perception and false everything. That is why by July 2022 almost everything was lost by Mara-Gotha-Nara and their evil men

To my surprise, I have never heard JVP so worried about the bond scam and its origins.
Why is it so and what is hidden behind it?

JVP Nalin Hewage ( like a teenager politician) exaggerated that no government has done this nation for 74 years and attacked everyone except his own party members in televised conversations. And nothing was achieved, but not knowing how they fought for all citizens to get “free education”. If they said, we have achieved something, but nothing to be proud of… it is understandable.

Still JVP activists are behaving in the same manner but no progress has been made in any way. How so ? Either people are wrong or JVP is wrong ?Or both are wrong ? They are also not new to Sri Lankan politics, but have been in powerful politics for the last 30 years or so.

They have been around for the past 30 years. I don’t see any improvement in them. They are born to attack their rival parties. Peace and harmony cannot be their basis, that may be the reason, even today people do not support them. First their stories should be like shooting and then they should be compared with people’s expectations. Either those public speeches are complicated or they are not in a plain sinhala…… I don’t see any progress in getting close to the people….. I hope that this country will be prosperous under a new young leader. However, that will remain a dream only…

Also, JVP always makes every effort to hang the BOND hook on RW. Mahinda Rajapaksa, the godfather of all major crimes, is not attacked separately, why is that ?
Also, why are the JVP supporters including you attacking all 225 MPs?

Gotabhaya came to power claiming to hang Arjuna Mahendran but did not even talk about it after taking power. Even though Udayanga Weeratunga was branded as a wanted criminal by the International Police, Mara-Gotha brought Udayanga into the country as soon as Gota became president.. Why was the same intervention not done in bringing AM from Singapore? Is it because Singapore law will never conform to the “play script”?

What is the reason behind it? JVP can play a neutral role but only if they are impartial. At the same time, the srilnaken paparazzo run by SIRASA under SORYSENA had painted the picture that the BOND scam was solely the work of the RW-MS government. However, if Arjun Mahendran is charged under Singaporean law, he will not be released as a Singaporean citizen. As far as I know, law and order systems in Singapore are a thousand times stronger than any powerful European country. How can Singapore be silent on this issue??

.May you all gain wisdom to discuss and clear doubts accordingly.

It is extremely difficult to eradicate/disempower the corrupt cabal who have been ruining Sri Lanka from soon after independence. They have funds and supporters who can/will confuse the issue.
    38 additional rogues !!!!
The armed forces/police support them as they enjoy perks which public servants never will have. Ranil is helpless.
Gota may come back to the top post. That will be the end.
Sri Lanka will self-destruct. Those who sent ‘printed matter’ abroad will survive.

      Justice,
Do you seriously mean that, Uganda would prosper to the extent (due to the looted funds shipped and invested in Uganda) that they (Uganda – Idi Amin Fame) would be advanced economically to an invincible position vis-a-vis Sri Lanka!!?
Uganda may then takeover SL in one clean Sweep??!! Sri Lankans become mere ‘SERFS’ of Ugandans???!!! What a ‘Whammy’ or “Bolt out of the blues” as an Englishman, with a stiff upper lip may attribute???!!
What happens to Buddhism, its supreme position in this Resplendent Isle?? Would become sublime/subjugated to religion of Uganda land that benefitted from shipment of printed material, purported to be part of the loot – proceeds of crime?? Sheer Monkeying around the 22 million people!!!?? We have plenty “MONKEYING” now, by the ‘Primus Uno’ of Politicians or equally cunning Religious Theologists??!!
Interestingly, then ‘de facto’ rulers of SL would be the Ugandan Government and “The Clan of Robbers” masquerading as ‘Patriots and WAR WINNING HEROES’, remote controlling by proxy??!!
“Uroo age Mus Uroo age thell ole Baddinawa wage”??!!
Ironically, preparation of ‘Dhadda Mus’ ‘caught in ‘TRAPS’ in the Deep South, mainly – ‘Wal Uroo’!!!
Never mind, Sri Lankans are treated much worse than ‘Wal Uroo’ by ‘Monkeying’ Politicians?!!?

“No wonder he had been defeated time after time in the local electoral politics.”
This has become too worn out even to be a cliche.
    *
The UNP had become un-electable on its own after 17 years of misrule. Ranil was on the verge of victory and denied it by the LTTE gang that nearly killed CBK.
He was again cheated of victory by the LTTE in 2005 in the two presidential elections he contested
He led electoral alliances to victory in 2001 and 2015. His government was brought down in a despicable way be CBK the first time and later by an alliance of forces who had no good intentions.
To lose an election in the post war years 2009 to 2015 against MR can be no disqualification.
Did RW really lose the way his eternal critics like others to think?
He lost more because of undemocratic intervention and conspiracy by the biggest unregistered political party in the country.
One needs to be objective and honest to call some a loser without even looking at the facts.
The UNP is a lost cause and rebuilding it is extremely hard.
Did any of the rival bidders for leadership demonstrate winning potential?
    *
There are good reasons for a progressive democrat or a socialist to dislike RW. But their arguments need to be political if they want to overcome the repressive regime to come.
Childish name calling gets us nowhere.

Dumb repetition of the phrase ‘Alibaba and the forty thieves’ with no clue about how Alibaba relates to the thieves to imply that someone is a master crook and the thieves his partners does not speak much of the wit of thoughtless repeaters of such borrowed phrases.

      THEY HAVE OPENED LOTUS TOWER

Paragon, no use in pretending that you got enlightened. Anyway, if you did so, the enlightenment is not good enough for anything. It is not “they” decided to open, it was the Chinese Ambassador who decided to tell the Chinese company to open it to the public. Some angry UNPyers, to annoy the Chinese Ambassador, printed a fake ticket, trying to show Langkang owns the Pahaddu Tower. Ambassador shot himself to the moon with anger, but Ranil Evil, who is hiding under PTA to arrest protestors, did nothing about it. Thank Mr. Evil that you showed that much respect to the Chinese Ambassador. Like Air Lanka, Pahaddu tower may bring some cute beauties to the immoral, shameless rulers’ feasts, but it is going to suck the Ceylon’s peasants’ left out souls by Air Lanka to the shell. I have written in CT, when Ganapathi Pillai informed Parliament that 5 Villages land and one million Visas were given to China to open its own industrial zone in Hangbangtota, then what is going to happen to electricity and water for the Langkang villages. Like Protesters standing in Galle Face, why do not you go and protest in front of the Chinese Industrial zone shouting to release the electricity for you? Is that you do not have time because you must wash the dead Royals?

Democratically elected representatives, Usurp the trust placed in them and mistakenly decided that that they have supreme power – President, PM, Ministers, MPs think are rulers and kings and not exercising the sovereign right of the people on their behalf after they are elected and installed!!??
No difference does it make??? Human Life expendable, mere function of wealth/social status

This is the reason one has to have enlightened, emancipated visionaries as holders of power in trust and NOT RULERS, without succumbing to self-interest to muddy the landscape and become rogues and thugs, but serve the people only in the interest of the people at large!!??
