Better Have Even A Tamil President? What’s Wrong With That Abayatissa Hamuduruwo?

By Shyamon Jayasinghe

Shyamon Jayasinghe

Today’s demographic reality is such that the Sinhala people, despite their majority status, cannot sustain themselves without the free cooperation of the Tamil and Muslim people. Either we go it together or we go bust. On the contrary, what leaders like Abayatissa Thero and other Sinhala right wing extremists seem to be telling the minorities are: “you join us, but remember we are in charge.”

A Tamil?

A report appeared in the Island (25/10) that Revd Dr Medagoda Abayatissa of the Sunethradevi Pirivena has declared, “it is better for the country to have even a Tamil as President than to be divided.” He said this addressing the media at the National Library and Documentation Centre.

Yes, Revd Dr Abayatissa. What ever could be wrong about having a Tamil as President? The term,”even,” in your assertion suggests that to pick a Tamil is not quite right and, maybe, only an unfortunate last resort. Why?

Dr Medagoda Abayatissa

Hasn’t anyone told you about the pivotal role played by our Tamil and Muslim brethren in the struggle for independence from the colonial masters? Ponnambalam Ramanathan, Ponnambalam Arunachalam, TB Jayah, M.C Siddi Lebbe and others who fought along with Sinhala leaders to convince the British that our island can be governed as one entity. For hundreds of years these people have been living together with us sharing, caring, and contributing toward our island. Contrary to your prejudice, isn’t it a wonderful thing to have a Tamil as our President? A great and wise move that heals? Remember how Pandit Nehru went up to Ali Jinnah and beckoned the latter to be India’s first Prime Minister? Nehru made this gesture  when Jinnah was planning a break-away Pakistan. Is this kind of move not in your  political vocabulary?

Or is it that you really think our minorities are inferior specimens? In the name of Buddhism-leave alone common sense-  please educate us? Buddhist teachings are unfaltering about man’s equal biology and equal human rights. Have you heard of the four Brahma Viharas that the Buddha urged his followers to practice; not merely to practice, but to build into their lives? Metta (sincere friendliness) is the primary of them and Karuna (compassion) follows Metta. You don’t seem to follow either. Second, your historical memory of how our country got independence obliterates the pivotal role of Tamil and Muslim leaders in that struggle.

Phobia Creation

The ‘Bring Back Rajapaksa Campaign,’ commenced on the feet of the defeat of Mahinda Rajapaksa. The Rajapaksa family and cohorts of various ranks and levels who enjoyed a decade of financial benefits from the franchising of corruption throughout the island banded together as they had to smell the impending danger. Evidently and surprisingly, government has been in no hurry to make them meet their ditta dhamma vedaneeya karma. These Rajapaksians, on the other hand, had more politically savvy than the government and they thought it best to keep the heat up. A new device of serially constructing phobias followed.

Monster bogeys were created but they have all flopped with the passing of time when events belied the false charges. Came the security question first: “Our country’s security is in serious danger,’ was the slogan. We now know it is not. Then, came the ‘selling the country bogey.’ That could not be sustained as people have been made to realise that no selling, really, has taken place-certainly not up to the level the previous regime sold. Government managed to get the upper hand in countering the move. A rare toughness was demonstrated there. Next, came the bogey about the protection clauses for Buddhism being taken away from the proposed constitution. That, too, hissed out-although not like soda. Now, it is the heightened campaign that the island is to be divided, devolved, and delivered to the Tamils and Muslims on a platter!

déjà vu?

This last bogey harks back in a sinister way to the pre-LTTE Sinhala communal campaigns. It gives me a déjà vu feeling that I am, sometimes, frightened about because if that communal fire is re-ignited and recycled what we have gained after a thirty-year long war would go down the drain and Sri Lanka will be doomed forever as though a kind of Noah’s flood has drowned it into history. In that event one can be sure India and the global powers will back a secession.

Campaign isn’t Penetrating

My fear is awakened as the campaign could have a visceral and gut-penetrating impact for those among the public- at -large who maybe drawn to it. The question is will the masses be drawn to it this time? Will mass emotion hijack mass commonsense? Strangely, certain middle class elements have joined the bandwagon. These are segments of the population who are typically educated. Observing the Diaspora emails I get, it is not hard to find professional persons and educated persons lining up to fan the smouldering coal; to keep the fires on. I get foul-smelling emails from these guys.

The positive signs are that the campaign isn’t penetrating the broad masses like last time. It is more articulated and more organised; it employs the devices of digital media and it is active in social media; it is all these because moneyed and skilled professionals are behind the campaign, yet it is failing to spread. This is evident and this is the fault line that government must exploit. The absence of a charismatic leader is also a weak spot in their armoury. MR looks tired more than inspired and he doesn’t convince. People are listening less and less to him. The daily exposures of his and his clan’s misdemeanours while in office  are eroding the once mythical popular faith in the Rajapaksa’s. For a brief moment people asked, ”how about Gota?’ But the latter’s future is in the balance as one needs to know whether that future will be (Athule) “inside,” or “outside.”

New Jaathyalaya

Be that as it may, we see before us the new version of the “nation saving campaign.” Here, “ nation,” of course means the Sinhalas- with the manaapaya for Sinhala Buddhists. Monks of Mahinda are out as the monks of SWRD came out in 1956. Bodu Bala Sena Commander-in-Chief  did his job trying to stir anti-Muslim feeling and he is in low key now; the law-enforcers are behind him. It was real drama watching this man behave raucously. The Buddha would have identified him as part of the Maara Senawa. So were many of the younger yellow-robes he had got together. Two holy blokes were arrested for invading the safe house where Rohingya refugees were kept. What Buddhist compassion they displayed toward a most vulnerable  and helpless lot of people! Well, that is the Buddhism of racism or jaathyaalaya. One man in robes was found to be a paid layperson!

Now, we have a new monk -star emerging. He is Revd Dr. Medagoda Abayatissa. Like Revd. Uduwe, who is charged for illegally keeping elephants, this guy is handsome. Wonder if he goes for facials as Revd Uduwe is supposed to have done?  Abayatissa Thero has, luckily for us, identified himself already and we know on which side of narrative he is. He is a founding member of Gota’s Viyathmaga. Later, he added to his pro-Gota portfolio another organisation called “Eliya.” All evidence Abayatissa Thero runs behind Gota or the other way about or both are running behind each other. With Gota not yet cleared of charges of major fraud and of having  Gestapo-style hit-squads under him during his mighty days, this association raises eyebrows. For our purposes, however, this information is welcome as we are able to identify the monk’s agenda.

No Factual Basis

The official line adopted by these elements is that the proposed devolution would be on an ethnic basis. I haven’t seen the proposals yet for the simple reason they are not yet finalised. However, these protagonists of Rajapaksa have telepathic powers and they know before hand. If devolution is proposed it is impossible to do that on ethnic lines. How could you? Tamils and Muslims are scattered all over the island. I don’t think the government will be willing to pick them up from where they are and place them in separate territories. What about devolution of powers to the North and East, one may ask. That does not constitute ethnic devolution by any stretch of imagination. There maybe predominantly Tamil populations in the North and the East maybe dominantly Muslim. On the other hand, there are Sinhalese and Muslims in both territories and there is no proposal to restrict the devolved territories to specific ethnic groups; it isn’t practical to do mad things like that. The demographic inflow and outflow will continue naturally. Sinhalese who are the majority islandwide will be temporary minorities in these devolved regions. However, Island-wide they are an overwhelming majority. So what?

Besides, the key questions relate to the depth of devolved powers and not the territory. This has not been discussed yet; nor does Abayatissa Thero able to forecast that. Another moot point is that the devolved territories will have to depend on central government for funds. This has happened to the prevailing devolved territories. Dependence on the centre means control by the centre and surveillance by the centre. Doesn’t the learned Dr monk not know that simple practicality?

They are in Business

These considerations demonstrate that there is no factual or rational reason for this orchestrated push against Constitution reforms. The government had received a mandate from over 62 lakhs of voters to change the constitution. It must carry out its promise in the name of democracy. This is peoples’ sovereignty. This is what we want. The sovereignty that rests with the people cannot be grabbed by the Mahanayakes, Revd Dr Abayatissa, the Bellanwila Chief priest, or any others.

The monks know all this. They know the facts. Yet, they are in the campaign. It is just that they have another script for a game of their own. Knowingly, they sing another song. The naked reality of the campaign is clear. It is a resumption of the ‘Bring Back Rajapaksa,” movement. Viyathmaga, Eliya, or whatever follows in that vein are all the same. Big wigs under threat of soon facing court are hell-bent on sabotaging the trials and returning to their perks. Officials who once hanged around them for handsome remuneration are working. Many of them are to face court. As we know out of past experience, there is a lot of money in this Jaathyalaya business. When in power, they feathered their nest in incredible manner. They squandered state money, stole, and murdered.Where there is money, backers gather. Sri Lanka has  a new political class derived out of  commercial patriotism. A patriotism that exchanges and is bought and sold in the marketplace of evil-minded men.

I don’t understand why devolution is a problem. By devolving reasonable amount of power to the provinces will help this country in the long run. It will give the people in the provinces more opportunities and responsibilities to improve their provinces. It will give opportunities for more individuals to gain leadership training, The provinces will be able to serve the people better and faster which will benefit the people in these provinces.

The provinces will be able to identify their strengths and weaknesses, make use of their resources better or improve them according to the provincial and national targets.

If done right the nation can be rejuvenated economically, politically and socially for the betterment of all Sri Lankans.

        Dear Shenal,

“We have been using Palath Sabha for close to 30 years. What gains have we made regarding these PSs. They have become white elephants while providing no returns for the society.”

We have had independence for close to 38 years. What gains have we made regarding the independence? We have had multiple racial and ethic riots, inter-Para riots, an inter-Para-civil war, and the Para Problem is still resolved, despite Pradeshiya Sabhas, and the Paras have become white elephants while providing no returns to the Land of Native Veddah Aethho.

Now 95% of the Para State income is used pay loans taken from Paras from overseas, including Para-Chinese.

Deiyoo Sakki, God is a witness!

            You are mistaken.
What we have here is the Sinhala/Buddhist fascist state without a civilisation. We will have to build a civilisation which would reflect unity in diversity.
I suggest you and your fellow Sinhala/Buddhist fascists feel free to opt out from this human centered progressive civilisation.

The gains have not been made because the central government is not devolving power to the provincial councils. They have become white elephants because of this.

Central government has devolved more than 80% of the power that has been proposed. Only Police and Land powers have not been provided. Are You suggesting that because there are no Land and Police powers the Provinces cannot function? Is that because they couldn’t deliver what they promised? Furthermore, there are no Provincial councils now. But, can we feel any difference while they were gone? So, what you are they?

It is news to me that 80% of the power has been devolved. And there are no provincial councils now. Are we talking about Sri Lanka or some other country?

Could you list all those powers you believe to have been devolved to provincial councils.

What powers does a Province enjoy?

There are about 35 “subject to” conditional rights.
There are lists namely “Reserved list”, “Concurrent List”, …………… Could you let us know how these lists and “subject to” conditions provides more than 80% of the power to Provincial Councils.

Nice try man. It will be the camel all over again. You know the one that asked for a little space to put his head in to shelter from the rain and then gradually pushed out the owner of the house.

“It will give the people in the provinces more opportunities and responsibilities to improve their provinces”. WE have heard that over and over again.

I will tell you, first we can try it out in Canada. Anyway Canada has a lot of territory much in excess of its population not withstanding the fact thousands upon thousands of refugees have fled there. Northern Territories would be fine. The population density is about 0.5 per sq km. (Don’t panic. It does not mean cutting you in half to fit 1 sq km). It is very very cold. Nice Arctic weather.

The North in it rhymes nicely with North in SL. Then we wait for 20 years for the results. There is no need to be hasty in these experiments. Patience is the name of the game. If it is successful then may be, just may be, we can try it in SL.

The Camel is the Sinhala people.A race with religion and language rooted in Tamil/Indian culture took sanctuary in Ceylon and now want to take over the country. Any visitor to the country can see it like a sore thumb, Sinhala thugs roaming the streets in saffron robes and inciting racial hatred and leading the violence against the minority and Buddha statue in every street corner for the crow to shit. Lord Buddha must be turning in his grave

The Problem: The problem, Rajash, is that the Sinhalayas are the numerical majority (75%) and Muslims 9.7% . Despite all the Olympic style lomg distance swimming that the Kallathonis have done across the Palk Strait in the past century or more, you are only 12.6% and deceasing. Why decreasing? Because people like you and the Nazi Hydra monster have fled to the rich Western countries many years ago leaving the young boys and girls to fight a hopeless war at home. You breed there like rabbits while they die here like flies. The best and the brave are dead while the cowards like you are still up and breathing and worse, breeding. The final result is a decrease in quantity and quality while Kavun Kana Moda ,Sinhalayas are increasing in both Q & Q. That is the problem.

So what can you do about it? I have a humble suggestion. Leave your jobs and come back voluntarily before you are kicked out. I can arrange jobs for you and others like you here in ME. I have already done so for a few Thalayas. The jobs will be much better than the menial ones you do there. The only time you go to a toilet will be when you want to – not the whole day like now.

          What say you?

Vasala Sutta: Rajash, you say, “not only you are cleaning toilets ……”. I am not sure whether you are trying to insult me, but if you are, then you fail miserably. It is public knowledge that Muniyandi the Jaffna Sakkili Tamil was my boyhood hero. Without those Sakkili Tamils who came down from Jaffna to clean up the messes we make, where would we be today? Probably 6 ft under due to a cholera epidemic or something.

I would have been proud to be a Sakkiliya in ME earning a near 5 figure salary in US$. But it was not to be. All such noble jobs in ME are taken by your kind from Tamil Nadu and a few from Jaffna. You are so lucky to work as a Toilet Cleaner for Suddas. Though people may consider it menial, I don’t. I am a good Sinhala Buddhist. I firmly believe in what Buddha said in the Vasala Sutta. “Najatta Vasalo Hoti – Najatta Hoti Brahmano – Kammana Vasalo Hoti – Kammana Hoti Brahmano”. (One does not become a Sakkiiya or Brahmin by birth. What one becomes is decided by one’s actions good or bad).

P.S. I have launched the Raja Shit Corp named after you. If you cannot join me here, maybe you can join me in TN as an expert in the field. (By field I do not mean those fields where TN guys and gals defecate in open air, but the field of knowledge.)

Oh My Brahman, LittlePenisfromBerlin, you were looking for some meaningful things in my cesspit. I was wondering whether one of those German pigs was practicing diving there. No wonder you smell up to high heaven.

Anyway LittlePenis, no wonder you did not find any meaningful patterns in my cesspit. The Japanese look for such patterns in their tea cups. But tea is one thing and cesspits, even great Edwin’s cesspit, are something altogether different. Cesspits do not have any patterns. The same way BerlinToileteriens have no penises to speak of. Now go and take a running jump in to the Rhine and get a clean up.

So that you cant be away from toilett stuff.

I am travelling across europe and know only know that africans work as toilet cleaners but not lanken tamils. So, just to attack tamils this way is curseful. Not even refugee sinahalese would not work as toilet attendents.
But we have noticed that indians and you guys are the labourers to arabs in various means.
Big talks but I hate to take my transit back home each time travelling via Dubai, Doha. Most of you guys have spoiled those countries not knowing how to behave properly. Thanks god even low educated tamil refugess would not have to behave so in Europe. Besides, always to attack your minotiry fellows for your lack knowledge is so pathetic. Howold you Edwin ?

Organs of the Nazi Hydra: Sama, I am a bit worried about you. Doha airport is in Qatar and Dubai airport is in Dubai. Please don’t get confused, especially in these times when Qatar and Dubai are enemies.

Again you say I am attacking when I mention toilets. How many times have I declared that my boyhood hero was Muniyandi the Tamil toilet cleaner. I also said that I will be proud to be a toilet cleaner – someone who cleans up the messes others make. I consider it as a noble profession. It is difficult at my age. But if someone had offered me US$ salary higher than what I am getting, I would have certainly accepted it.

Not only that, I will apply my technical knowledge to improve the work. For example, I will use my expertise in Project management to analyze the tasks involved and work out the critical path of cleaning a toilet. I would then concentrate on the critical activities to make it quicker, better and easier. I may even present a paper on toilet cleaning. Ask Prof David, he will tell you how brilliant I am.

Sorry, I cannot tell you my age. You may use it against me. Remember how Samson asked me how to make text bold and when I told him, without any hesitation, in the next comment itself, he attacked me and emphasized his insults using bold text. How can I trust any head, anus or any other organ of the Nazi Hydra after that? And you happen to be an organ too – though, I admit, a very nice one – I should say the nicest. But how can I trust you?

Let me feed you with facts.

Come to Germany, Switzerland and any other europeans countries please.. there you will see, each and every corners, there are sinhalese and tamils in higher positions. I have met few dozens that have been in white collar jobs. Specially in German, French and Scandinavian hospitals, you will find at least few medical doctors each.
This is a good thing for our nation. The numbers are no comparable to those in UK but still the numbers are on a rise. Unlike turkish people south asian parents encourage their offsprings to become goode educated and find better jobs.
So Edwin, please dont spread lies about migrant communties in Europe.
Besides, those who have come to EUrope for their University education end up with becoming citizens easily. Most of these countries have no enough medical professionals.
So please without studying the facts put all of lankens in one bucket calling them as toilet cleaners should be that stupid.
At the time, TSUNAMI hit the country, most germans , swiss and french doctors did their best together with their srilanken born colleagues. Why you guys forget all these easily ?
Edwin, please name of the god, dont spread lies.
There should be a limit. Thanks.

Edwin Rodrgo is talking about his own experience, what he has seen in the Mid-East, how the Sinhalese women (his women folk) are used in cleaning toilets in the public institutions such as Airports, Schools, Hospitals, Malls and Hypermarkets the whole day.

“Airports, Schools, Hospitals, Malls and Hypermarkets?” We don’t have any of those in the ME. All we have are those dirt strips in the desert, where Sopwith Camels land and take off, when camels are not around. Hospitals? O Ho! You mean spittoons. Housemaids hang around Malls and the Mallis hang around the housemaids. Hypermarkets? You mean big Souqs.

It is not people but machines are used for cleaning toilets.” I thought that the fake Lanken refugees have already cleaned up the people there. Of course machines can handle the waste load because people only ‘do little’ defecating.

The Camel are ALL SRI LANKANS not one race. Get smart; be modern in your thinking. Leave the shades of 5 centuries ago firmly in the past.

No amount of modernizing of infrastructure is of any use, unless you are modern in your thinking. You aren’t!

Read or research a bit before responding. Canada already has a federal system. So no need to test it in Canada.

Wait for 20 years. Yes lets wait. We have waited for almost 70 years since independence why not wait some more.

We are just stuck in 1948 still trying to figure out which way to go.

Any Pinguththarayas of this SO CALLED REV. Abeythissa nature, would make public statements of his nature, should be condemned by anyone with peaceful mind.
I really dont what goes throug the shit filled heads of these men. We fought 30 long years of war. And finally the collectivity succeeded to defeat rebells that way. However Rajapakshe harvested the situation as if he himself together with his estranged brother with much of aggression against any human beings, were solely instrumental in the elemination of the terror within the country. Those error media men for their own selfish reasons, joined hand with Rajapakshes as is the case even today, to paint the picture in favour of Rajapkashe family kith and kin.
Now even after Rajapakshe has been defeated by the nation, not allowing him to reelected as the leader of the nation, even today, he has been the lead to rabblerouse Sangayas and any othe rfolks to regain power. Power was that family was giving them drug like effect.
However, Sangayas and poor folks have been fooled by Rajaakshes by their continous efforts being made to show them as real buddhists.
Buddhists in general would not go after the buddhism being practised by Wirathu or th elike men in Myanmar. But Rajapakshes have allowed even world hated Wirathu to enter the country and rewrite it as ” lanken buddhists are with Myan Mar”: There, Mahanayakes continued their sloth life style, not having added any resistence to Wirathus visit. You guys would wonder, the racisms and the extremism being practised by the lead of Wriathu is beyond all ethics and morals. I know this very well, since i had some people I met with in Europe shared me how former Burma s buddhistic practices have been.

Sam, if you “really dont what goes through the shit filled heads of these men” then it is because you are a stupid shit head, which makes you somewhat lower than pure shit heads. To give an example. I am Govigama and you are a Karawa, which makes you somewhat lower than me in caste. The same thing applies to shit heads and stupid shit heads.

The shit head has shit in his head. The stupid shit head on the other hand has shit in his head but there is a difference. In his case the shit is stupid shit. That is why he is saying “really dont what goes through the shit filled heads”. to help you, the answer is shit.

Isn’t that interesting. You ask a question and the answer is already there. But you are so stupid that you don’t realize that. OK. Run along and laugh 3 times.

          Let s talk something valuable:

Rumours are there that Quatar Airways will work with SLanken soon. Is that true ? Gowigama Rodrigo ?
You ve been living and let arabs abuse you for such a long time in that part of the world. Can you please tell us the latest with the news ?
Even if your mouths drop down only about toiletting or how toiletts are cleaned in that and Europe, but these news about lanken airline would be of my higher interest.
Now with SL dont fly to some destinations in EUrope, we have some problems to behonest.
Edwin, btw when would you be back in SL again ? I plan to travel there for a week or 10 days in December. This time, I will not offer dana to Pinguththarayas, instead I will donate more to homes for the aged and children.
This much is for this day Mr. Please be somewhat decent. That can help us all CT readers to maintain PEACE on this platform.

I have nothing to say about S.Lanken Air lines because there is no such airline. We hope the Fake Refugee Tamils will start something like that so that all the TT’s will be restricted to that. Why not name it TT Airlines (Tamil Tiger Air Lines). Here are some slogans for you:

1- Fly with TT smell in TT Airlines.

2- TT airlines. The Safest in the World – (Why? because it is run by Tamil Terrorists)

3- Tamil Terrorists the best in the World. TT Air lines is the safest in the world.

4- Are you an armed terrorists? Then you are welcome to fly with TT Air Lines.

5- Explode more bombs and Join our Frequent Flyer Program with bonus points.

5- TT the only Airline that offers Thala Thel massage on the fly.

More Slogans for Thal Thel Air Lines:
1- Try our Frequent Bomber Program.
2- Another World’s First: Return Tickets with no return air fare for Suicide Bombers.

4- Want to go while going? You can do that only in TT aircraft. Every seat is equipped with a Nano toilet made by Raja Shit Corp of India

6- Our fleet consists of TS 50/50 medium range aircraft.
7- By 2020 Our fleet will consist of TS 100/0 long range aircraft.
8- Members of our cabin crew speak Tamil and Broken English.

Why not you yourself try to learn good English ?

There is one saying in lanken vernacular: “ova denu parahata thamaa sammathee sitaඔවා දෙනු පරහට තමා සම්මතයේ සිට. first you correct yourself and then the others ” … What you have been uttering is far from comphrehension to many. That may be one of the reasons, them often to stand against you.

I don’t want to correct the English of anyone. I find your English cute and enjoy reading it and deciphering it. The more you distort English, the better I feel. Serves those Colonial Bastards right. Go right ahead Sam.

But do be careful, when you fly through Doha. Our President made a secret pact with Qatar to filter and off load TT’s in Doha. What will happen to them, we have no idea and don’t care. But it is rumoured they will be used as forced labour in Cleaning companies.

Yes Sumansekera these political monks must be thrown out physically. The fellow who organised the hora pindapaatha for Lalith Weeratunge is the same Abeytissa. Bloody rogue. They say he has massive real estate and women. A big mudalali. Why do you want to support him?

Most successful countries in the world have Federalism. Examples are America,Canada,Swizerland and so on. India is another example where unity and economy are both strengthened by federalism. If you think you can rule minorities by thuggery and army intimidation you will drag the country into hell.

Several US states are threatning to seccede in the light of Trump’s inaugaration. Only thing preventing that is US constituion. Canada faced a serious breakup when Quebec threatned to seccede and join with France. Only after much negotiation that the disaster was awerted. Indian state of Kasmir is in open reballian to break away from Indian union and so are the Eastern states of India. Strict miliatry rule is the thread that hold the fragile balance. Tamilnadu was in serious phase to break away back in 1960s and India has to ammened it’s constitution to prevent break up of the state

So, my dear friend. Federalism does not granrt immiunity from seccation.

        Shenal,

“So, my dear friend. Federalism does not granrt immiunity from seccation.”

It is Federalism that is holding together the USA and India. Had Sri Lanka, the Land of Native Veddah Aethho, been a Federal Unitary State from the begging, there would not have been a separatist war, there would have been no need.

        • 0
          0

I have shown earlier that neither US or India is immune from break up. In fact both are in the brink of breaking away. What binds the states of both countries from breaking away is a specific clause in their constitutions. Otherwise, they would have broke up already.

Sri Lanka would have been a federal country if there were several independent kingdoms from the early on. But, there wasn’t. So there is no need to grant federalism to any tom, dick and harry.

“What binds the states of both countries from breaking away is a specific clause in their constitutions.”

Does specific clause in the constitution prevent countries from breaking up? I take it that the former soviet union, Czechoslovakia and Pakistan forgot to include such clause in their constitutions hence the break up.

“Sri Lanka would have been a federal country if there were several independent kingdoms from the early on.”.

There had been several kingdom in this island. Full stop.

        Shenal:
Don’t write crap. One this common in USA is they are happy to be Americans. No one is threatening to break away.
Canada did not threaten or send the military. Allowed Quebec to vote democratically and make the choice. They voted and the majority decided to stay with Canada. Is Sri Lanka ready to give this choice to North and East? And the vote was not to join with France but to be a independent country. Canada allowed them to vote twice on this issue. Don’t write crap that you know nothing of. You sound stupid.

Some argue that Sri Lanka is too small for federalism. I have been arguing that we should amalgamate with India and then we can of federalism.

Shaymon’s Metta: Shame On You Jayasinghe, don’t write about things that you know nothing about, especially when it involves the religion or the life philosophy that many consider as the best and noblest. You translate ‘Metta’ as sincere friendliness. May be that is applicable to the Mattress (Mettaya) where you are probably playing very sincere games with your Royalist friends. Your translation of Maithreeya (Metta) is a complete distortion of its true morning. So leave the Buddhist Metta and go and get an Arpico mattress to play your games.

Shame on You, Shame On (Shaymon).

      Edwin,

Please try to be little bit more civilized. You dont need to teach him Mr Jayasinghe about the definitions of Metta this way.

How come you know Metta while being part of monkies that have been making efforts to grab power in order to ruin the country again ?

I dont think he shoudl be ashamed, but you guys, the way you behave is beyond all ethics and morals.

Good luck and see any psychologists that can help you get it right at least in the future.

I am tough on Authors. You commentators, I treat more leniently. How can you talk about civility when you (Nazi Hydra) call another author Ballige Putha? Why are you insulting his mother. Is that civilized talk? Don’t involve mothers and fathers in the fray.

Dan, I could have listened to you and be bit more civilized. But I am Govigama and you a Bathgama. How can I listen to a low caste Bathgama and face my clan? It is not going to work.

Send in a monkey with the same advice and I may listen to him but no to a Bathgamaya. You seem to know a lot of monkeys anyway.

Ramanathan, Arunachalam , Jaya , Siddi Lebbe and DS all in unison lied
to the British for freedom ! Else , they were not far sighted leaders to
see the behaviour of their future generations , future regional political
designs or the changing cultures and civilizations that could turn their
dreams (if they had one )upside down in a very short time like one or two
decades ! But the British knew our horoscopes . They wrote it and they
knew it . They didn’t give us the freedom because of whatever we uttered !
We were trained to live on DEMOCRATIC VALUES , a product brand new
to us . We gave them guarantees that we will follow it but there we find
enough loopholes to break some of them and find a way to fight with
each other ! Freedom of speech for example , if abused by either party ,
for any reason , could be detrimental to national unity ! In democracy
within split of a second you can set ablaze the whole nation ! No need
of a bomb ! It is this freedom to speech that set Aluthgama on fire .
In the hands of right people , it is a treasure and it is poison in wrong
hands . It could serve both worlds , the heaven and the hell ! We opened
the door to hell three times in the past and the tendency to try the life
in hell again and again has not diminished .

What is wrong with a Tamil President asks Jeyesinga? Nothing wrong, in fact we would have hon Lakshman Kadirgamar as the President if your hero Prabakaran did not eliminate him. At least even now shed a tear for Lakshman before you kneel before Prabakarans photo.

Was VP so clever, who managed to penetrate high security area, find the target, bumped off, and vanished into thin air?
Are you a secret admirer of VP?

Why wasn’t Lakshman Kadirgamar appointed the Prime Minister of this island?

Day by day you are becoming a pathetic excuse for a human being.
