The questions that everyone should be asking is: “Why now? Why in New York? Why in the context of the UN General Assembly? Why during the Human Rights Council session in Geneva? Who benefits from the crime? What is the mission of Sri Lanka’s diplomacy?”
Sajin Vass Gunawardena, the man who runs the Foreign Ministry, and Kshenuka Senewiratne, his number two, are two sides of the same coin.
The assault of High Commissioner Chris Nonis is only one in a series of Acts in a Tragedy that opened in Geneva in 2009 with the same cast of villains, followed by other Acts also in Geneva in 2011 and 2012, and still others played out in Rome and Paris.
The method they used then to disarm Sri Lanka’s representatives was mobbing, now they have advanced to physical thuggery, and these top “diplomats” continue their devastation not only with total impunity, but enjoying high patronage, promotions, and financial advantages.

Their modus operandi may have changed, but their objective hasn’t . Their actions have always put Sri Lanka on the defensive in the position of the Accused. There is a striking coincidence between the defeat of the West along with the LTTE in 2009 and the beginnings of this Tragedy.
At a crucial juncture in the history of our country when unity and cohesion are national priorities, and credibility and allies international priorities, such hooliganism on the part of Sri Lanka’s top “diplomats” raises questions about the very nature of the Sri Lankan State and its state of decay,
It is urgent that the parliament, the parties that represent the people, and the people themselves put an end to this public humiliation of the nation if the country’s sovereignty, independence, and dignity is to be defended.

Hasn’t the development since 2009 proved the ancient wisdom “a stitch in time saves nine?” Had we encouraged rather than obstruct the investigation, the remedies would have been prompt and we could have risen rather than steadily stumble downwards ever since. Aren’t you three wholly responsible for the nightmare that you three jointly set in motion in 2009?

I think you have mixed up Educated, qualified, well respected and well versed with the subject matter with public relation qualities of Diplomatic officers to mere uneducated, unqualified, not well versed bunch of unqualified, political thugs, cronies, jokers and clowns. If you see the officers that represented Sri Lanka in 2009/ 2010 compared with the “Nades” in 2011,2012,2013 and 2014 at the UNHRC you can see the difference.
It was not the real qualified Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry staff, but a bunch of no nothing, Swollen Head, False pride political jokers who know nothing of the subject matter or Public Relations or Diplomacy who represented Sri Lanka and due to this we lost all the UNHRC resolutions since 2009.
In India it takes 15 years of Diplomatic Experience and Knowledge at their local Foreign Ministry, before been posted to a foreign country. Where Sri Lanka Stands today. Even Tea salesmen, uneducated political jokers and clowns are been posted as Diplomats to leading Western countries and this is wrong. This happens only in Banana Republics.
That’s why we need to overhaul of our Diplomatic staff before it’s too late.

My question is “what exactly did Dayan trio save us from in blocking the vote in 2009”. What is the worst that would have happened if Dayan had not succeeded in blocking the vote 2009? Perhaps you want to volunteer to answer that.
That question has nothing to do with the concern you are trying to focus on – “why Sri Lanka failed to impress (or was it hoodwink) the internationals in the resolutions that came after 2009.” Two different issues.
For one thing, if Sri Lanka had not blocked that initiative in 2009, we will not be having all the repugnant embarrassments since 2009 through the current sessions, and we would not have witnessed the growth and establishment of an arrogant diabolic regime as Dayan himself chooses to describe the current regime that he revered until about half a year ago.
