Dilith’s Speech Incurs Buddhist Monk Wrath

In an interesting turn of the tables, Derana CEO and Gota loyalist Dilith Jayaweera has been charged with violating the ICCPR Act. It appears the ‘radical’ speech he made during the launch of Dilshan Pathirathna’s book Dadabbaraya has incurred the wrath of some Buddhist monks.

Pathirathne was summoned before the Organized Crime unit yesterday to provide a statement in relation to a court case filed before the Colombo Magistrate Court and was caught by surprise when he was informed that he was summoned to provide a statement on the speech made by Jayaweera at the launch event of his book.

In a Facebook post, Pathirathne says he was informed that the complaint was lodged by Buddhist Information Center Executive Director Athulugalle Sri Jinananda.

Pathirathna goes on to say in his post that while he is glad the charges have been brought against a figure with enough resources and influence to fight the case, the tendency to view dissenting viewpoints as organized crime is a dangerous trend.

In Jayaweera’s speech that irked the wrath of a bhikku, he addresses the quest of humans to seek happiness and says the true answer lies in Buddhism that embodies ‘Aathal’ concepts.

Jayaweera goes on to say in this regard, it is important to understand what type of a person Siddhartha was.

“What type of a ‘pora’ (Sinhala slang for dude) is Siddhartha? …Was he a servant?… Was he someone who couldn’t even be with his wife?” questions Jayaweera in his speech where he also admits his favourite relaxation method is smoking marijuana.

Meanwhile the Free Media Movement wrote to Justice Minister Thalatha Athukorale questioning motive of bringing fresh revisions to the Penal Code to criminalize distribution of fake news and hate speech. They pointed out its puzzling given available legal frameworks are adequate to prosecute wrongdoers and criticized the arbitrary application of present laws to further personal agendas.

    Jayaweera

“favourite relaxation method is smoking marijuana.”

You are my kind of pora (dude) who knows how to relax (although I don’t enjoy smoking marijuana). Jayaweera must teach the noisy Sinhala/Buddhist members of the ghetto to relax, live and let others live..

I am simply unable to comprehend why these worthies are unable to relax and chill despite all the “cigar” smoking and mutual abuse going on in these establishments.

Presently we witness a new trend of the ICCPR being invoked against people who have incurred the wrath of Buddhist monks. Is this because the local laws are inadequate to deal with persons against whom complaints have been made by monks?

It is ironic that the ICCPR acts are invoked to harass people in view of the fact that Buddhist monks and the police are among the worst violators of the provisions of the ICCPR. It is like the devil quoting from the scriptures.

    Jayaweera,

Try to get the So-called Sinhala Buddhist monks to smoke marijuana or some other pot, and they will certainly attain Nirvana or Nibbana, in this life, without being reborn it after life.

They can certainly mediate being stoned.

This will also stop the monks going berserk and or trying to throw stones, which Buddha did not teach.

Surely we have far better things to discuss and addresss than these petty issues!!

This is one of the reasons that we simply doesn’t progress as a nation.

Belated action. I remember writing a comment against his speech in which he compared his habit of smoking weed for pleasure with Lord Buddha’s attainment of Buddhahood.
The same law should be applied to Abdul Razick too.
Abudl Razick should be arrested for hate speech against Lord Buddha.
In his “sermons” he has said that Lord Buddha had consumed human flesh, along with many other fabricated malicious stories against Lord Buddha and Buddhism.
Similarly, a Special Court comprised of Maha Sangha should be established to hear cases against saffron robed men who pose as Buddhist priests while preaching and writing completely distorted facts about Lord Buddha and Buddhism.
It is high time these saffron robed men who are a disgrace to Sambuddha Sasana be relieved from monkhood.
Moreover, a Review Board on Buddhist Affairs with adequate powers should also be established to review all spoken and written material about Buddhism, ban such publications where necessary and take action to sue authors.

What is your religion? Islam? Then first check Allah’s origin in Africa.
If you are a Christian, then check the history of Jesus who was of middle eastern origin with a brown skin, who was later painted by westerners as a man with a fair skin.
If you are a Hindu, then try to find out who is the founder of Hinduism. As far as I know, there is no founder. Hinduism originated in present-day Pakistan.

            Oi Moda Hindian Vedda
            .
I told you before not to talk about things that you know nothing.
The origin of Buddhism did not start with Gauthama Buddha!!!!
There had been 27 Buddhas before him (according to Atavisi Piritha).
            .
This is the list of Buddhas (according to “The Buddhawamsa” published by Pali Text Society, London – Editor: R. Morris)
            .
            1. Thanhankara Buddha 2. Medhankara Buddha 3. Saraṇaṅkara Buddha 4. Deepankara Buddha 5. Kondagngna Buddha 6. Maṅgala Buddha 7. Sumana Buddha 8. Revata Buddha 9. Sobhita Buddha 10. Anomadassi Buddha 11. Paduma Buddha 12. Narada Buddha 13. Padumuttara Buddha 14. Sumedha Buddha 15. Sujatha Buddha 16. Piyadassi Buddha 17. Atthadassi Buddha 18. Dhammadassi Buddha 19. Siddhattha Buddha 20. Tissa Buddha 21. Phussa Buddha 22. Vipassi Buddha 23. Sikhi Buddha 24. Vessabhu Buddha 25. Kakusandha Buddha 26. Koṇagamana Buddha 27. Kashyapa Buddha 28. Gauthama (Sakyamuni) Buddha (current) 29. Maithriya Buddha (next)
            .
According to Buddhist cosmology, the time period (world) where Buddhas are born is called Kalpa (aeons)
A Buddha is born in every 5000 years.
However, there are some Kalpas where a Buddha is not born which is called Sunya Kalpa. The Kalpas where a Buddha is born is called Asunya Kalpa.
In one Kalpa, one Buddha is born while in other Kalpas more than one Buddha is born.
Now we are in Bhadra Kalpa where 5 Buddhas are born. In this Kalpa 4 Buddhas were already born i.e. Kakusanda, Konagama, Kashyapa and Gauthama). The last Buddha in this Kalpa is the next Buddha, Maithriya.
Over the Asankheya Kalpa period, the human life span which was believed to be started from 100,000 years, is now reduced to current 100 years.

      Champa,

      Abdul Razick impressed me!!!
He was very fluent in Sinhala and had a file full of documents and recorded sermons speeches and other material he produced readily to the PSC panel.
He admitted his sermon was wrong. He met the chief monks and apologized for is erroneous ways and even got them to accept his apology.

He at times left the panel members speechless with his responses.
This guy is smart, educated and is a lay Muslim preacher – who speaks of Islam as it was in the Holy Quran – not the radical and fundamentalist twisted version the Zahrans of this world spread.

He gave a classic response to the question of Wahabism from the panel. People throw out the term Wahabism and Salafism with no clue what they are talking about!

It is people like him we need – not the fire breathing Moulavis, hot air blowing Muslim Politicians.u

No he is not smart. He distorted Buddhism with malicious intentions. He hurt Buddhists with his remark that Lord Buddha ate human flesh!!!!
An apology is not enough. He should be arrested.
He does not speak about Islam. If so, there is no need for him to writing distorted facts about Lord Buddha.
I don’t care about his opinion of Wahabism or the other one.
My concern is only about his malicious intentions to discredit Lord Buddha. How dare is he to do that in our own country. He should be arrested.
If Sinhalese Buddhists read my comment, it is imperative for us to be united and elect a Sinhalese Buddhist President from our own votes, without giving into bargain Muslim and Tamil politics.

He couldn’t distort Buddhism worse than by any Sinhala/Buddhist standards.

“My concern is only about his malicious intentions to discredit Lord Buddha.”

Buddha said, ‘Somebody can throw a burning torch into the river. It will remain alight till it reaches the river. The moment it falls into the river, all fire is gone; the river cools it. I have become a river. You throw abuses at me. They are fire when you throw them, but the moment they reach me, in my coolness, their fire is lost. They no longer hurt. You throw thorns, falling in my silence they become flowers. I act out of my own intrinsic nature.’

This is no Akrosha. This is a sinister attempt to destroy Buddhism in Sri Lanka by spreading untruths about Lord Buddha.
If someone do Akrosha to me I know how to handle it.
But if someone do Akrosha to Buddhism, there is no way Buddhists be silent.

            NV,

The Sinhala Buddhists of Sri Lanka – who bitch and moan about attempts to destroy Buddhism – don’t practice Buddhism in the first place!
The Champa’s and the Buddhists with the same mindset- are simply ill informed about Buddhism – they so jealously safeguard.

As I always say – if only the Sinhala Buddhists would follow the teachings of Lord Buddha – this world would be a better place.

To be ill informed about Buddhism, I should have a teacher. I didn’t learn Buddhism from an outsider. I am a self-learner. Therefore, there is no way for anyone to mislead me. To understand Buddhism, self-education is essential.

        Ugly American,

Quran is not an original book. Muhammed claims to have been visited by the angel Gabriel. In fact, most of the Quran is based on stories and legends picked up by Muhammed during his time as a caravan driver, when he interacted with Jews and Christians. Muhammed’s claim to being a prophet rests entirely on his encounters with Gabriel. Unlike normal “holy men”, Muhammed never renounced normal life. He had many wives and owned slaves. He was an excellent warrior, who united the Arab tribes. At the end of the day, one has to ask whether someone can be a “holy man” or ascetic without renouncing the excesses of normal life.

If a person under freedom of speech makes comments, its the duty of those who do not agree with those comments to make alternative factual comments. If they cannot then they have to keep quite and its not the duty of the law enforcing authorities to go and file cases against those who make statements under freedom of speech. Today the Buddhist monks are so illiterate, they do not even know the difference between a ship wheel and the Dharma Chakra. If a Buddhist monk thinks that the statement “SL is not a Buddhist country” has to be attacked, then a Hindu, Christian and Muslim also has the right to think that calling “SL is a Buddhist country” should also be attacked.

Using drugs such as Ganja, mushroom, etc are very ancient habit, especially among Hindu, Buddhist and other non Indian religions. It induces hallucination, the so called vision and various experiences and also ward off fatigue. God experiences are part of these drug effects. Magic mushroom, gods flesh etc (mescaline, peyote) are well known hallucinogenic substances used in native Indians religious rituals even today. Though a restricted substnace yet US government allow its usage within religious practices. It is well known that Hindu yogis, god men, all used Ganja freely and they do even today. In Varanasi Ganja is a used openly by the so called yogis along the Ganges. God is an experience and hallucinogenic drugs too give these experiences. Schizophrenia a major mental disorder too induce hallucination. This is why god has not done anything good to mankind except sufferings, a form of drug side effect.

Banned drug addict is the owner of one of the main Private media networks and advertising agency. He may be not only taking ganja but heroin n cocoaine too.

Then elder brother of drug dealer n convicted criminal silva is the owner of another popular media network.

Time to investigate these channels and time to introduce laws preventing such individuals owning media networks that can ruin the country.

my experience is that only in budhdhist countries all sorts of odd characters attack the Buddha and Buddhism simply because budhists do not have a powerful organisation like Muslim brotherhood and one like hinduthvaa in India where no nonsense is tolerated attacking islam / Hinduism and such centuries old faiths. during my stay in Egypt I realised that publicly critical of islam or Prophet Muhammed is like committing HARAKIRI FAMOUS SELF PUNISHMENT IN JAPAN it is timesinhala budhdhists create similar organisation to neutralise such criminals unfortunately I am 76 years old if not i would have established a FULLY Armed Buddhist Brotherhood forceto deal with such foreign funded bastards when two christian priests and were burnt to death for attempting to convert some hindu poor families to chritiyanity I asked a senior diploma in Indian mission that officer told me those buggers should have known it is against the law and who the hell have asked those buggers to come to India to buy poor Indians to christiyanity. any person changinh faith on his own is very well accepted I dot mind using mysavings for such an organisation theses bastards mustbe pushed back infrom the same hole they came out
