Economic Stability With SOE Reforms Need System Change

By Ameer Ali

Dr. Ameer Ali

The Head of Emerging Market Economies Johanna Chua, when commenting recently on Sri Lanka’s emerging economic stability under IMF direction made a crucial point that “people” should “feel” the stability after paying a heavy price for it. But she failed to identify those people she was referring to. IMF being an institution created by and for the affluent never cared for the poor and downtrodden. It is a class biased institution predominantly interested in maintaining the stability of the capitalist system with it financial structure.  Therefore, when IMF recommends stabilization measures for a bankrupt economy it obviously starts with an agenda to stabilize the financial sector of that economy.  One branch of that state is public finance as revealed through annual government budgets. The sick economy of Sri Lanka was carrying budget deficits for decades and the obvious remedy is to increase public revenue and cut unnecessary expenses. Revenue has to be increased through tax collection and profits from State Owned Enterprises (SOEs). Regarding the first, IMF never aims at taxing the have lots through direct taxes, because that class, according to IMF, is the one laying golden eggs to hatch economic growth. Therefore, tax axe falls heavily on the have nots in an indirect manner, which market economists define more neutrally as broadening the tax base. Sri Lanka’s VAT is an example of that broadening. As a result, on the advice of IMF, Ranil Wickremesinghe’s two budgets raised indirect taxes and avoided raising direct tax rates to collect revenue from high income earners. Thus, it was the poor who paid the most for the so-called stability Chua was referring to. Should one ask this group or the ones benefited from the stability about how they each feel. The answer would certainly not be unanimous.

Another item in IMF’s reparation agenda is the call for structural changes highlighted by the need to make SOEs more profitable. In adding to this need the Chairman of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce remarked recently that, “Historically inefficiencies and a lack of accountability in SOEs have led to significant financial burdens on the government, contributing to economic crisis and misallocation of … resources”. The question is what made these white elephants to survive all these years? Reforming them now need not necessarily mean privatization wholesale as IMF would prefer. But President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his government are moving along that direction despite opposition from trade unions and RW’s political partners. Is there a more fundamental reason that permitted SOEs to operate without accountability, burden public finance, contribute to economic crisis and misallocation of resources? The cure for Sri Lanka’s SOE travails lies in answering this question.

But the economy is still not out of the woods, and there is a long way to travel. There is a $58 billion debt to be serviced and settled once restructuring negotiations are over. It would take many years if not many decades. But, IMF itself is a money lender. Its $2.9 billion EFF loan has to be paid with interest, which, according to one calculation amounts to another $2 billion. There was a saying among Malaysians of yore that if one were to see a snake and an Indian one should kill the Indian first, because of the hardship kampong Malays endured at the hands of rapacious Indian money lenders. Elderly Sri Lankans too would not have forgotten similar fear among local villagers about Afghan money lenders. IMF is the institutionalized version of those pre-modern lending behaviour. In short, RW has virtually mortgaged the country’s economy in the name of economic recovery to a loan of $2.9 billion. How many poor economies that sought help from IMF have prospered as a result? Before reforming the emerging market economies IMF itself needs reforms to become more benevolent towards those economies. That is a subject for separate discussion.

In the meantime, RW, acclaimed by vested interests as the architect of a transient stability, has produced a list of evidence to prove his success. A replenished treasury with nearly $5 billion, low inflation, rupee appreciation, booming tourist trade, inflow of foreign remittances, and ending of long queues for fuel and cooking gas fill that list. He now appeals to the masses to bear whatever hardship they face for a while longer before enjoying the comforts of his economic paradise in 2048. But the listed positives were achieved with tight capital and import controls, and when those controls are loosened, when economic transactions become normalized and debt negotiations completed there is no guarantee that the hardships would disappear. Ordinary consumers who visit the market daily do not see RW’s evidence translated into lower prices for their daily necessities. Artificial reduction of prices for consumer goods on the eve of an election is an old trick to buy votes.

In general, and on international level also the prevailing economic constraints caused by conflicts and climatic disasters make even rich countries like Australia for instance, a country with successive surplus budgets difficult to cope with rising cost of living. The Reserve Bank is fighting a losing battle in balancing inflation, interest rate and unemployment. But at least Australian democracy is not bedeviled with corruption as in Sri Lanka. The underlying socio-political foundation upon which all IMF reforms are experimented at present remain as rotten as they were for many decades. What IMF casually mentioned in its check list as the need for better governance is not possible without a tectonic shift in the ruling ethnocentric and corrupt socio-political order. That demands a system change. Without that change IMF’s 17th visit would not be its last.

Sri Lankan voters, unless deprived by saboteurs, are about to be presented with an opportunity to make that change possible. Frantic attempts are afoot with tit-for-tat tactics to form opportunistic coalitions just to win political power to protect the old order. But, thanks to the Aragalaya a new generation of voters has appeared on the scene demanding a tectonic shift. The only coalition that lends support to the voice of this generation is the National Peoples’ Power (NPP). However, NPP is yet to outline the shape and content of the system that it wants to replace with, while not divulging too many details for its opponents to knit pick. This delicate balancing between political expediency and practical difficulty must be understood by NPP’s armchair critics. The forthcoming election, whether Presidential or General, is going to be an intergenerational battle between NPP and the rest or between those who want to retain the old order and those wishing to replace it. Sri Lanka’s real economic stability with clean government and secular democracy hinge on the outcome of this election. All other parties and coalitions except NPP have nothing new or original to offer except to reiterate the economic mantra of IMF. NPP wants to go beyond that and is willing to tackle the root causes of the economic crisis. Shouldn’t it be given a chance? As said by Mao, “even a one thousand miles journey has to start with the first step”.

May everyone be truly blessed on this day!
According to scholars, Sri Lanka is still hanging on by a single hair. The danger before us is great and incalculable. If you fall back, it will be a dangerous journey down a path of no return. Our worries are growing faster day by day. The second GOTA DRAMA is also being made.
    :
Some form of stability is essential to move towards tangible reforms. Do we have that stability today?
If the stability sinks, the ISS or other terrorists will target it again to abuse the weak mentality of the nation and carry out their activities easily.
    .
Economic or other reforms can only be achieved by coming together. Unity rather than division. All the religious LEADERS should demand a common platform and convince the nation of the critical situation of the nation.

At this very critical stage of the Sri Lankan state, all political parties should be put aside and united for national level reforms.

AKD may preach like a God on the platform but he is no political genius when it comes to working with different opinion. SJB can scream on stage but that doesn’t do much to lift us out of the pit we’re in.

“If the stability sinks, the ISS or other terrorists will target it again to abuse the weak mentality of the nation and carry out their activities easily.”

We should stop the fear mongering politics of ISS or other terrorists of Buddhist Sinhala Fundamentalism. Sri lanka never had an ISS terrorism or any other terrorism other than Buddhist Sinhala Fundamental terrorism practiced by both UNP (SJB) and SLFP (SLPP). Of Course AKD/NPP fallen into the politics of Politics of Buddhist Sinhala Fundamentalism, they never had the opportunity to Govern this country but the country has to recover from the traditional masters who are still playing a fear mongering politics. We should remember Ranil Wickremasingha is no different to Rajapaksa. Ranil was brought by Rajapaksas and other thieves. Ranil did not come from the moon. He had similar experience to Rajapaksas. He has the same Buddhist Fundamentalist policy of Rajapaksa. He was the nephew of JRJ.
Today, the IMF gave 3 billion dollars loan. IMF is backed by USA, UK and other Western Nation. China is another nation and a Super power equivalent to USA. USAhas spent over 100 Billion dollars to Ukraine? Why Can’t they give 10 Billion dollar to Sri lanka? Why Can’t China give 10 Billion dollar to Sri Lanka? They will never do that? They knew well Ranil is greedy of power and the MPs are greedy of Power and Money and you can buy them easily.

I heard of not only LTTE, PLOTE, EPDP, EPRLF, TELO, EROS, TMVP, JVP etc.etc. But they all are liberation groups from Buddhist Sinhala Fundamentalism. Other than LTTE, all other groups are worked along with Buddhist Sinhala Fundamentalism. It is only LTTE that fought against Indian Military invasion. Not Buddhist Sinhala Fundamentalism. I hope you may have known that the Saharan was trained by Buddhist Sinhala Fundamentalism and paid by them which carried out Easter Bomb. That is why you people chased away your Buddhist Sinhala Fundamentalist President.

Ajith, hmm its a strange liberation group that feels it needs to do this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aranthalawa_massacre No doubt you are aware of many other acts liberating Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamils. Its stupid comments like yours that undermine the genuine grievances of the Tamil people and give publicity to Sinhalese racists.

Clearly, the foolish Easter bombers blew themselves up thinking that it was the wish of Allah. It is inconceivable that a suicide bomber acts because his relatives can get rich in this life.
            .
However, they would have been egged on by the manipulative Rajapaksas
, who would have paid some guys who were of Muslim ancestry. Those guys wanted the pleasures of this life.
            .
Remember that this article has been written by a practicing Muslim who values Islam, but realises that true Islamic faith doesn’t mean wreaking vengeance on those seeking Truth in other ways.

            And here we have
, in “leelagemalli”, a man who cannot think dispassionately about anything. He insists on barging in where he is not wanted, driven by an inability to reason.
            .
He now cannot see that his hero, Ranil, is now relying on the support of the foolish Rajapaksa-supporters who cannot reason either.
            .
What is Ranil’s motivation? He doesn’t seem to be taken in by any vision nobler than wielding power to the maximum extent possible; these childless frustrated men are unsure of what they want. They are intelligent enough to see that no single religion has a monopoly of “ultimate good”. But they allow themselves to be controlled by their hatreds.
            .
And me? I’m not absolutely sure of anything, but I know that I can be happy in any deep sense only if my conscience doesn’t prick me all the time that I’m being cruel to other living things. Ultimately, there has to be reverence for life. What follows death? Nothingness is what I feel, but I’m content to find out when death comes. I affirm the value of life, but know that it must end, and the best portion of it is over.

            Paul all other rational thinkers,

Unfortunately, he never sees it right. Very sad.
Bandarawela S. Thomas College would be worried to see the levels he has fallen to today. My problem is, his peers don’t seem to help him open his eyes. This man will die someday without being able to understand the basic things of this society. Very sad to see that.

The fact that JVP committed mass crimes (89-92 arbitrary killings) is of little importance to him. His incoherent but sensible ideas bring nothing to anyone.

Isn’t that enough to get a clear understanding of the former teacher?

He has been kept in his mental asylum for so long. The same person recently dared to praise a dog. No doubt he would share the same about Treudeu.

By the way, it is only one in about fifty mistakes of his that I correct.
              .
For this pedantic fool the former President (now guardian of the current masquerading President) is Mahendra Rajapaksa (LM frequently spells the surname wrong) while the whole world know him as Mahinda Rajapaksa:

            .
Just before going to the NPP meeting on Monday, the 27th, I had visited a former teacher-colleague whose degree was Maths Special, and he had (having been a Zonal Director of Education) presided at Presidential Election counting centres.
            .
We discussed the procedure; what’s important is: how many people mark Preferences? Fewer than one percent! Mahinda Deshapriya speaking before the 2019 Election also said as much. He said that it had been only in 1982 and 1988 that there had been some Preferential Vote marking.
            .
I have always cast three Preferences.

In a comment on 15/04/2024, I have linked readers to this video in which AKD apologises for the 1988-1990 violence, soon after he was appointed leader of the JVP. Anura had done nothing; he was apologising as the leader of the Party. And I myself have referred to wrongs done by the JVP during the reign of terror.

          .
Yet, even after that, he’s been repeating that the JVP has not apologised, and also that I don’t know Sinhala. Plus that I pretend that I don’t know wrongs done by the JVP.

LM: “AKD may preach like a God….. he is no political genius….”

In saying that you want “…all the political parties…. to get together”.

Any use, in your analysis of AKD (quoted above) to get together to put “national reforms”?

Isn’t it better (as said by you) to leave him and his party aside?

I think, UNP; SLPP, and SJB have taken your advice and they are moving in the direction of a “Coalition” leaving AKD and NPP aside. Good advice and timely.

        Dear Douglas,
        .
Believe it or not I want my country to get a good leader and move forward. Unfortunately, that leader is definitely not AKD. AKD can only be compared to Gotabha, not a leader who was able to connect with various and diverse thinkers within and outside the country.
Politics cannot go ahead if the leaders are not tolerant, they have to have some kind of patience in the practical world. Unfortunately, AKD does not come with such virtues. So how can we hope for him?

          .
Dr Harsha De Silva has become the easy target of CYBER pranksters of AKD today saying that he is a liar regarding VW-Company and investment to Sri Lanka in 2020, but their inability to invest in Sri Lanka was trully connected with some internal issues of VW companies. Truths were known to Germany and Europe but not to radicalized Sri Lanka where BLATANT lies guide their daily routines. No matter TRUTHS aside, they just amuse the moments attacking their political rivals. JVPrs do it most right at the moment. People are stupidier than appeared to be, so they dont understand the contrast.

            .
RW’s political history may be true to some extent but as an executive president he proved it in the last 24 months. He established law and order in an anarchy country. He restored it in a few days. He can somehow connect with the protesters by balancing the economy for the people. He overvalued the dollar by overtaxing the people, not through debt. If the South Koreans did it for their rise, why can’t we?
Now people are ready to breathe and all good indicators are monitored by world experts. World leaders and experts praise it while the Sri Lankan media distorts it as usual. Although the MLECHCHA Sri Lankan media did not acknowledge the news, EU and other leaders praised the Sri Lankan host government. Blatant lies keep you in the dark and suck your blood. The Sri Lankan media must be suppressed to see it correctly.

Needless to say, Wimal Weerawansa led the country astray. AKD and his men can argue on the public platform but that is not a solution for people to get rid of hunger.
In the present context we need more funds from outside than our own revenues. We should not immediately feel that our own things can easily revive us. It took 13 years for Greece having sunken to that depth. So we will need at least a few more years. After that any political party can work on their own political agendas. But until then, we must come together as one. This is not easy, so for a while, stubborn JVP people break any harmony.

Only a leader who can relate to demons and good people can do much in our hell, full of people with more criminal and corrupted minds than ordinary good. The only leader who can do that is the current president. Everyone else is just a jerk who doesn’t help much

Dear LM: Thank you for your input. So let us forget AKD and NPP who have no heart to listen to others’ views, according to you. My opinion is different. I am for the establishment of those “District Councils”; “Kottasa Sbas”, “Women Fronts”; “Professionals’ Fronts”; and now the latest – the Association of Retirees. You who live far away from us. yet to know what these organizations are doing and how they contribute from grassroots levels upward to frame the policy directives to be followed by those elected representatives. One of the major such policy initiatives is the power to RECALL the elected representatives, if they, including AKD, do not adhere to the policy directives.

In preference to the above, you need the present leader who lives with demons. You can have him and if needed we can export him to your country.

Who is Nalin Jayatissa? Is he a special person who too though lives at the expense of others
                    but another parasite?
                    .
If he dares to deny it, SJB colleagues also have the right to argue that the JVP is avoiding the debate on “economic revival and how they will do magic if they seize power today”:

Like other unemployed graduates, MBBS graduate Nalin has taken advantage of the opportunity to ruin a student’s chance to become a medical professional.

The purpose of poor country taxpayers is to serve the nation by financing the free degrees offered by local universities. But even though the JVPs graduated, many of them did not work for their careers. So it was clearly a colossal waste of taxpayer funds.

                ” Madhuca longifolia ” , when there’s no cane sugar available ,
the flower of M Longifolia can be substituted . This is in Tamil
” Aalai illa oorukku iluppaip poo charkkarai .” This is exactly
what Ranil is . Search Madhuca longifolia on Wikipedia . And

I really dont know why you took that example ” Madhuca Longifolia”, to compare it with that of Ranil: However, whatever being said and done, he is the only and last horse before us today to continue for this country where all other leaders with even more capacities were killed by long held CIVIL war. I have the feeling that SAJITH as an immature person did a big mistake to have grounded SJB in 2019. That was the root cause of everything. Had not he done so, the number of elected parliamentarians woudld not have been 2/3 for Gotabaya led pohottuwa.
In such a situation could have avoided Gota’s stubborn activities to some extent. 2/3 majority along with constitutional leverage made inexperienced Gota as president even more pompous.
It is similar to the mad soldier was given most sophisticated weapons. Besides, today we become clear of the stupdities of Sajith Premadasa.

My message is simple . Ranil is a leader If There’s No One

many Fruits and Vegetables and Coconut . But the

Premadasa’s incompetence causes AKD to overtake and show them being the next force.

Dear LM: After writing my reply comment, in retrospect, I wondered why I went to explain all the nitty-gritty, having read your statement: “Only a leader who can relate demons……”. Yes, you are correct. Only Ranil W and I am so certain that Sajith P too will relate to “Rajapakse Demons” whom you describe as “BPs” from Madamulana. Instead of writing all that, I should have simply said the following quote from Gutthila Kaviya:

                “ANE DEVDATT NODUTU MOKPURA”.

You are more or less like the Sri Lankan amateur youtubers who are abusing their broadcasting rights.

See that female police officer has been misinterpreted by the video released two days ago. That went viral in GOBBA srilanka.
The truth was that the female PC did her job to the best of her ability. It was edited and the video went viral.:

In the name of God Douglas, please don’t try to mislead the nation. I did not say that a leader who can only be with the devil can do the job.
But the leader should be “a leader who is good at coming together with different thinkers”. Is that nature of AKD…. he is like PORAKUKULA….. in sinhala terms. That is why he was rejected repeatedly.
                  :
Besides, you really know that the majority of our people in the country, like your KADAMANDIYA, are just wandering around without knowing the right things. Most of them are not human beings, but “human beasts”.

Not even MBBS holders of JAYASUMANA nature trusted the medical ethics and facts. Remember ? Paddeniya knew all as any European doctors would do, but he let it go and destroy that most inncient MUSLIM Dr Safi…… what more talks you would need to see it right ?

                  Dear Douglas,
                  First things first.
Economic revival to some extent is a must to keep the head above the water. We are a begging nation and being branded as ” default bankrupted country”, even if our overestimated head doesnt seem to welcome it yet.
                  .
After some economic recovery only can we think of any other developments for the benefit of the masses. I challenge you, if not for the last 24 months, would our nation have ever survived ?

I know what my greek colleagues constantly said to me. I WORK with them in Germany and UK, but they are well connected with their circles in their home country. It took them 13 long years to raise their head to some extent from their deep fall in economy.
                  .
You know this for sure, if you are serious with true fall of srilanken economy. You would not act like those LADs idle on ” village culverts”.

Dear LM: If NPP takes over the baton stick, that would lead to a turning point for this country. That’s certain to me.

Those countries you mentioned – that breakaways initiated their policies and strategies to stand on their feet, getting free from the shackles of Russia. That is the beauty of being FREE.

In like manner, we need to CHANGE and develop ourselves with our available resources, invest efforts, and partner in developed countries. This is the CHANGE I stand for, which cannot be expected from the present leadership of Ranil W; MR; and Sajith P. who have had ample opportunities (for decades) to do that turnover. That is why I rely on NPP as the best choice.

My Elders tell me AKD, JVP, The Old Guards, NPP, DJVP, and their supporters are yet to explain the death of their comrade late Sarath Wijesinghe in 1971. Sarath Wijesinghe was a very clever person for a JVP supporter who was in charge of Kegalle district.

    Dr Ali
”All other parties and coalitions except NPP have nothing new or original to offer except to reiterate the economic mantra of IMF. NPP wants to go beyond that and is willing to tackle the root causes of the economic crisis”
Would you care to elaborate on that please? . As for giving a chance, we have done that before with all mainstream parties & having burnt our fingers, shouldn’t we at least question ‘how’ from the NPP? NPP were against IMF intervention but now going along with the same but anticipating a better deal with ‘renegotiations’. What if IMF don’t play ball?

OK, RW ”…. mortgaged the country’s economy in the name of economic recovery”, so, how would the NPP have done differently? Given the devil its due, I can’t remember anybody stepping in when GR fled the country. It’s always the poor who are effected badly with the tax burden, so, what will the NPP do differently? GR abolished PAYE tax but didn’t think how the deficit would be recovered. Economics is beyond my comprehension, therefore, I would like to know in simple terms, the sources of funding for the NPP to give the average citizen relief from high cost of living.

All our political establishments were founded almost with no vision for the
country and motivated only by selfish ends . This is a curse nobody did
nothing to reverse and instead used it a Blessed Ladder to gain social respect
and recognition to build family trees which were then venerated by gullible
general public . So , it is the same public that has the keys to any change but
is it walk in a park ? No citizen , not a single citizen wants to travel on a hard
road and the prosperity is not within anyone’s easy reach . You should not
borrow simply because there are Money lenders , unless you have the means
to honour your borrowing with gratitude . There’s no point trying to pick on
why and how any system that is not for us , work in other parts of the world .
Who chest beat 2500 yr old history ? Why not walk the talk ?

The scenario of the untaxed rich laying the golden eggs works only on first-world countries like America and England that have golden-egg potential from previous and modern-day global colonization and control. Our country never had this leverage, and so trying to keep up with the first-world scenario is beyond ridiculous.

Yes, we can work with the IMF, but it should first involve releasing global Lankan money tied up in foreign accounts, of which Lankan law-firms interlace with foreign ones, to secure.
    https://www.sundaytimes.lk/221204/business-times/billions-of-dollars-in-foreign-income-stashed-overseas-503742.html

Places like US finds it impossible to give up its foreign clandestine capitalistic operations that adds to its otherwise robust and legalized local capitalistic economy – Janet Yelling, Sec. Of Treasury that the other day…..they can only work around that anomaly, for it is over a 100 years in the making.

For Sri Lanka, over a 100% of Lanka’s wealth is caught up in overseas accounts – both mainstream US, and alternate Russian. It is too much of a pain for the US to start delving into these accounts, for it might just topple their own. They rely on each county to do the honorable needful for their own people.

I am surprised why Dr. Ameer Ali didn’t write an article on ICC’s historic arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister for war crimes committed in Gaza and also ICJ’s historic ruling for Israel to halt Rafah genocidal operation immediately. I had a 17 minute chat with Dr Ameer Ali (my father, who died in 1963, would have said, although he knew all about Alexander Graham Bell, that one can’t speak to a man who lives in Perth, Australia – just like that! This was on WhatsApp in the year 2024) and obtained his permission to place my comments below this article.
    .
Further typing, and all that, – the time is now 09:30 as I submit this.
    .
Other comments will follow (with the “wrong time”) because they had been finalised.
    .

I know that this is all pretty confusing. Sorry!

Dear Ruchira, & All Other Readers,
      .
      I’m trying to answer
all the questions that arise, but how can I, when something else is always cropping up?
      .
There seemed to be such a mess at the top of this page, that I decided that I’d better start answering the question, “how does one vote?” And I had wanted to provide a complete to the question, with as many of the bits in one place.
      .
And so, peace-loving fellow that I am, I got up from my sleep about an hour ago, (the Time now is 8:40/9:58) and began to look think how to answer the question, but then I find that good Ruchira has submitted about a score of comments (counting them is as difficult as counting the stars – you think you’ve counted them, but when you look up, there seem to be countless others that have come in).
      .
In one place, Ruchira tells me that I now know his real name. No, I emphatically don’t! unless that name is Ruchira. You don’t want that known, but except that real name, you’ve told the whole world almost everything about yourself.

You’re are a Medical Doctor, who’d done your studies in Colombo University (you’ve not said that it is on Kynsey Road, but I know, although I was at Peradeniya University ages ago, a dozen years after I should have been there!)
      .
And you have asked somewhere, “Who the hell is Siritunga Jayasuriya” – because he is getting my SECOND PREFERENCE on the 12th of October. Well, I don’t know him, unless this amounts to knowing him.

If you know Sinhalese, that (in 12 minutes) is what he is. I will have to explain, later, in English for those who don’t know Sinhala.
      .
Apart from what he says, I just don’t know! Never met him.
      .
But I did meet Chathuranga Abeysinghe and Sunil Handunnetti last night, and I told them that there is this “unknown” guy who wants to impart secrets (now known to all who want to know). And at 6.07 pm last evening (I’ve checked WhatsApp – the call came at 6.08), I didn’t know that I would be meeting them at 6.17 for a 190 minute meeting in Malindee Hotel, Bandarawela. I actually shook hands with them!

Dear Panini – I am not in the mood to read your comments. I will read them later. I have been somewhat wrong about the maid I fired. It looks like she has been plotting with those who were advising her to kill my father, by poisoning him. Take good care of yourself. TY.

Dear Panini – The document that Dr. Sapumal Kanchana Haggalla of Sri Lanka Police has in his possession contains in addition to the records of various crimes and scandals involving politicians and others; a set of business initiatives and plans of mine which are worthy of a considerable amount, and could attract potential foreign investments. This is why I have become a prime target of them. They want thos plans to be theirs or the investment to come through their channels so that they could benefit from them.
    .
One such initiative was the importation of Pfizer/BioNtech mRNA based Covid19 vaccine to Sri Lanka, firstly to market it to the private sector, and then to re-export to other countries in the region, South Asian as well as Asia-Pacific including to Australia and NZ.

I had made a detailed planned as with whom else I was going to partner with for this initiative – especially in re-exporting to regional countries.
      .
They first hacked into my laptop through a link provided by NUS – National University of Singapore. Stole all my plans, and approached the people I have earmarked to partner with and got them on their side.
      .
      How did they do it?
      .
They showed them the recordings of Leila they have secretly obtained using hidden cameras, and told them, that they could have sex with her if they stop supporting me and start supporting them.
      .
They wanted to have the opportunity for themselves.

Secondly they illegally obtained certain medical records of mine from Karapitiya Teaching Hospital (KTH), where I once took treatment for an episode of psychosis. Then showed those records to certain parties including then secretary to the President, P. B. Jayasundara, and BOI Director, Pasan Wanigasekara, telling them I am a mad man, and therefore should not be given these opportunities.
        .
True that I have a psychiatric history but they were episodic and limited to two episodes in the past. Those who planning on letting me import the Pfizer vaccine knows all about them.
        .
But the locals used that information to sabotage me and get the opportunity for themselves.

Stealing my medical records was done by three medical doctors:
          .
          (1) Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa – of JVP https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nalinda_Jayatissa
          .

If people like Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa didn’t sabotage my work Pfizer was interested in establishing a manufacturing plant here in Sri Lanka to manufacture their products to the regional market, including the mRNA Covid vaccine.
            .
In addition I also had a plan to form the first ever Sri Lanka based Multinational Pharmaceutical Co. with our own products.

Because of this Oxford Astra Zeneca who also had a vaccine for Covid19 and a manufacturing facility in India (Serum Institute) didn’t like me succeeding either.
              .
So with the help of Indian Intelligence worked to sabotage this initiative.
              .
Not only that they stole an idea of mine I have articulated in a communication I once had with Sri Jayawardenapura University Medical Faculty, and gave it to some Indian researcher and got it funded also. The idea was stolen by Professor Neelika Malavige of Sri Jayawardenapura University by going through university records. Oxford University and Astra Zeneca both guilty of intellectual property theft.

Please contact Dr. Pabasara Kalansuriya (PhD) with whom I have discussed some of these ideas I had on drug development over a video conference, and asking her to apply for a mentorship with British Neuroscience Association.
                .
Ask her who and how it was sabotaged. Below is Pabasara’s LinkedIn profile

                .
Pabasara didn’t apply then I gave the opportunity to Dr. Dineshani Hettiarachchi Sirisena (MBBS, PhD), of University of Colombo. You could ask her what happened?
                .
I was willing to find Dineshani a post-doc opportunity in Kennedy Medical School of Harvard University but her own mother and father in law sabotaged our efforts. So we had to ditch her from our core team.
                .
She is married to a Sirisena, from Maithreepala Sirisena family I believe. So her FIL somehow got hold of the video Daham sirisena has recorded of Leila having a shower at the place we spend the 2nd night in Sigiriya during our trip.
                .
He was planning on leaking it to some group of Sri Lankan origin Britishes in London. Otherwise Dineshani was interested in our work. We could have given a career break that no one could have given her.

Ruchira, this is my sincere / professional opinion. PLEASE get appropriate help that you need. ( most probably I may not repeat this again.). Hope you consider this as an advise from a colleague in the same medical profession. Also, keep in mind there are people, like the one ( scum ) here in CT, trying to take advantage of your vulnerability. Now a days, there are enough and more help available for such conditions.
I also request sensible others to keep this in mind when responding to certain comments. ( I’m sure some would have realized the problem by now ).
I also can’t help wondering , what can be more worse, the Lankan parliament sessions or some of the recent discussions taking place in C.T. Gone are those days of healthy and meaningful interactions.

            Chiv,
Very decent of you, given what you were subjected to not long ago. These attitudes very often have a mental problem at the root, and that applies to the other “scum” as well.
You have turned out as the true doctor here.

      Dear Panini-
      .
The Design and Concept of “The New Peace Sign”, is unique. I had earlier submitted it to register with National Intellectual Property Office (NIPO) of Sri Lanka, but never followed it up and completed the registration process. I told Illangatillake and co. this. They wrote back to check whether I have the relevant documents with me, which I did, and replied indicating so, giving reference numbers. If I didn’t have the documentations with me I’m sure they would have destroyed the copies at the NIPO and registered the sign as their’s. Below are the details from my previous submission:

        Ruchira,
        .
This is an extraordinary amount of stuff for you to be unloading to me in public. Yes, I could work on it, conveying it to the NPP leadership.
        .
As I’ve told you, on Monday, the 27th, night, I was at an NPP meeting to which I was suddenly invited by Chathuranga Abeysinghe. His father, Dr Nihal Abeysinghe, who is the Secretary to the NPP is a man who had been the Chief Epidemiologist, in the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health, and has done some work for United Nations. I could the links to these articles where these comments appear.
        .
However, this could hardly be done in the glare of publicity of a public forum of this sort. It complicates matters that you now say that you have had problems with Dr Nalindra Jayatissa, who belongs to the top tier of NPP leaders. And I can hardly be the link person, with very little knowledge of Medicine.
        .
Another useful person is the author of this:

Dear Panini- Tell the NPP to conduct a disciplinary inquiry against Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa before we initiate legal proceedings against him, and other two scumbags from THK. I think Udara Sampath too is a JVP member?

Dear Panini – Tell the NPP to clean their own house first. If they want to show that they are serious about punishing the corrupt. Or we will get somebody else to do it for us. Tell them they are not irreplaceable…
