A suspect in the Prageeth Ekneligoda disappearance case, was granted bail by the Homagama Magistrate on Thursday. Lieutenant Colonel Prabodha Siriwardena, identified as the second suspect in the case was released on a cash bail of Rs. 2 million along with two sureties of Rs. 6 million.

Despite being released on bail, the Magistrate has issued a travel ban on Siriwardena.
He was released on bail after evidence was submitted that Siriwardena was at the Army Training Institute in Kukuleganga undergoing a training programme from 23 to 27 January 2010.
In March this year, Ekneligoda’s wife, Sandya said that if the army personnel who were in remand custody over her husband’s disappearance was released, her life could be under threat.
“If these army personnel get bail, my life will be in danger, as well as even the lives of those from the Attorney General’s office who appeared on behalf of the case. I am requesting the President, Prime Minister, the UN and the Diplomatic Community to take responsibility and ensure no harm will come to me from the culprits, in the event they are bailed out,” she told a news conference.

When Prageeth Eknaligoda went missing MR supporters ridiculed that he probably migrated for greener pastures. They pretended that they were unaware what happened to him and even speculated that he had been seen in France. When questioned further they took up position that only ‘God Knows’. Thereafter with the defeat of MR when it surfaced that Prageeth Eknaligoda had in fact being kidnapped by the Army intelligence sleuths an attempt was made to justify that he had connections with the LTTE as the reason. In other words they knew from the beginning what happened to Prageeth Eknaligoda because they were the Murderers. These War Criminals of the Forces deserve to be put on a firing line as they are no better than the Terrorists.
