Errant Brigadier Recalled, Family To Remain In The UK

Brigadier Priyanka Fernando was removed as Minister Counselor (Defence) at the Sri Lankan mission in the UK and recalled to Sri Lanka following complaints over a threatening gesture he made at demonstrators outside the mission a few weeks ago.

Colombo Telegraph learns that the government had assured that this move will not affect the education of Fernando’s children in the UK.

Fernando’s gesture resulted in complaints to British authorities by protestors as well as many expatriate Tamil groups. It was reported that he was immediately recalled, but President Sirisena threw the entire episode into a circus by claiming he had revoked this decision.

The govt will pay. If you don’t like then picket the schools for accepting his kids. It is not mean as it sounds as these guys slaughtered women and children of suspected rebels.

You think the military knew or cared what was in the constitution?
Was it white van gota that said these guys marched with the human rights manual in one hand the gun on the other. In his defense he never said that they read the manual nor were they literate enough to understand it.

Wife and children are in UK on a dependant visa and not on their own merit. Thus their stay in UK legally is terminated when this Horiya was expelled. But due to sympathetic consideration, children will be allowed to remain in UK until they complete the school year. After that if anyone gets admission to a university he will be allowed to remain, but if not they will have to get back with their mother. According to this news from government source, they decided to keep the family back in UK, when the decision on how long a foreigner remains in a country solely depends on the host nation. I am sure that SL government would have begged UK government to allow the family to stay at least for sometime to save face.

What can SL government do about those who trampled SL flag. In UK it is not an offence for a British citizen to trample a SL flag, but threatening of a British citizen by a diplomat is a crime for which the punishment is kicking him out.

Excellent question! If this guy fits into the category of “war hero” – as defined by our ex-JVP President – he will have complete immunity from investigation for crimes against humanity and war crimes and his children will be educated in that bastion of Imperialism, Great Britain, at our expense! So what else is new???

All these guys curse and scream at the west and Christianity but the first chance they get they want there children to study their and be molded.

Take their duty free cars away, let the f-ers use public transport like MP-s in the UK and other countries…. if they have to visit their electorates, let them be taken in a vehicle from a government pool.

For a moment I thought you would say things like ‘facilitating businessmen to be able to take in short-supply items to the north in order to make windfall profits’ or even ‘profiting from selling ordnance in the open market’. Our officers would never ever do such ungentlemanly things. Would they? The upasaka amma next door tells me that the overnight wealth of our ‘oppicers’ came from the unlimited overtime. And, I would never ever dream of pricking her balloon.

How about cash and gold looted from VP’s Fort Knox?

You are worried only about the school fees. Who is going to pay for the exorbitant rent, food, utility bills, clothing, transport, ……. other sundry expenses including make up stuff for the wife unless of course he owns a comfortably large house in the UK, and extra income coming from his investment?

It is unreasonable to bring the family back to Sri Lanka as the wife may not like the hot weather, dirty roads, unhygienic cafes, sweaty and smelly people, …..

Bloody terrorists have put the family in terrible situation. Was it because of the terrorists or the stupidity of this arrogant dimwit Brigadier?

The wife and family can and should claim asylum in the UK on the basis of mental cruelty, and no need to divorce him.

      Luis Appuhamy,
LTTE DIE-ASS-PORA and its’ letter-writing British parliamentary LAPDOGS should pay those school fees. NOT SL Tax-Payers. After all, this Brigadier’s “gesture” helped PEALAM GOONS in London immensely. It was the biggest storm in a glass of water ever. It re-ignited the bankrupt PEALAM UTOPIA project. The Brigadier, by giving into his raw emotions, handed over a massive propaganda victory to FAT PIG’s religious fans in the UK. SHOW YOUR RESPECT FELLAS! Paying his kids’ school fees is value for money for the Overseas LTTE. Rather than paying greedy PR agencies. Cheers!

“LTTE DIE-ASS-PORA and its’ letter-writing British parliamentary LAPDOGS should pay those school fees. “

        Why?
Oh well, has your liberal pretension gone with British winter and wind?
I understand why the country is dire conditions.
Of course you want to reward him with all expenses paid for his family’s stay in the UK.

Most of the time you find it difficult to control your own little Sinhala Lion in your tummy or your fat belly. It is understandable. It seems your pretension for good governance is really sham isn’t it?

You don’t have to be a closet Sinhala/Buddhist fascist anymore. Go the whole hog we don’t mind.

“The Brigadier, by giving into his raw emotions, handed over a massive propaganda victory to FAT PIG’s religious fans in the UK.”

Raw emotions? As a diplomat he was representing this island in the UK and he was not an MP representing his kind of people in the Sri Lankan parliament. Do you really know what is expected of a diplomat?

Diplomats are supposed to be professional, trained diplomats who represent Sri Lankan interests abroad , look after the citizen of this island abroad, ….? The smart ass patriot seems out there out of control, letting his raw emotions with his neck slicing fattwa out in the open, yet you are sympathetic to him.

The Brigadier needs counselling or be confined to a high security hospital, needs treatment for his raw emotions, need to under go anger management sessions, not payment for his children’s education.

Imagine as an trained and armed killer how he would have behaved under his uncontrollable raw emotions?

A word of advice, make sure you don’t share a fence with him.
        Double cheers.

          WHOA Native,
Calm down a notch or two mate. I have never supported Brigadier’s unprofessional behaviour. He should be duly disciplined by GOSL. However, two parties gained massive political milage from this PR blunder by the Brigadier. Defeated King (former LTTE financier in exchange for votes) and the LTTE Die-Ass-Pora. Those two factions seem to be in a secretive alliance. It was a GOD GiIVEN BONANZA for Mahinda Raja, just before the LG election. Not least, for those desperate LTTE stray-dogs in the UK.
          Cheers!
PS: BTW Native, We are still waiting for your categorical condemnation of LTTE flag-waving and FAT PIG chanting. Opposite our Embassy. On our national day. By those who strangled our country nearly to death for 30 years from London. You show puzzling understanding towards those LTTE stray-dogs in the UK, while you are fully unloading on the cornered Brigadier. WHY?

            Ben Hurling

“I have never supported Brigadier’s unprofessional behaviour.”
However you justified earlier by your own quote “The Brigadier, by giving into his raw emotions, “. By the way I have reproduced your above quote elsewhere, and made sure it is attributed to you under 2012 Welikada Prison Massacre.

I have condemned LTTE and VP for what it did in this island and to the people and will continue to do so unreservedly. However I do not see the need to condemn “We are still waiting for your categorical condemnation of LTTE flag-waving and FAT PIG chanting.” as long as they abide by the UK laws and peaceful.

You give me one reason as to why I should bother myself with symbols of SLFP, Hela Urumaya, Cobra Head flags of Gnanasara, UNP, JVP, SLPP, LTTE tiger flag, Sri Lankan national lion flag, Provincial flags, ……………………..
However I do continue to question the wisdom and design of VP and whoever approved the lion flag of this island for there is no evidence to suggest these two horrible beasts ever existed in this island.

            Double cheers.

“Calm down a notch or two mate. “

I am good, cool and keep my calm all the time especially when commending in this forum. Thanks for your concern.

Hell burning what are Sinhalese die-ass-pora and their gutter speaking British parliamentary lapdogs doing without a whimper of protest on this matter to defend their so called hero, who has been disgraced and summarily despatched back home. I am sure that the jokers of the all parliamentary group for Sri Lanka will not openly contribute to meet the cost of education of the children of Horiya. It is the view of UK government that he committed a crime while enjoying their hospitality, breaching the etiquette of a diplomat and therefore was expelled. Please note that UK government did not consider neither waving of LTTE flag nor chanting of name of Prabakaran an offence under their law.

National Flag denotes tribalism the primordial instinct of the ancient man. Looks like some of us have not grown out of that narrow mentality even after thousands of years of “evolution”. Perhaps the Mahawamsa doctrine will not permit them to evolve. Have our lumpen politicos sporting national flags in their duty free cars done any better than the protesters in London?

“………..any Sinhala officer will get provoked.”
Interestingly you have openly come out with the correct definition of the Srilankan army.

“In my thinking any Sinhala officer will get provoked.”

Since you are Sri Lankan your thinking is not always right, mostly wrong.
The army man was not only an officer but expected to behave like a gentleman.

If the ass (a trained killer) is easily provoked by the lion boru flag then tell us how do you think this ass would have behaved under battle condition and afterwards?
There is no evidence that lions existed in this island, therefore it is a flag of big cat and big lie.

    • 1
      0

There is no doubt a Sinhalese will get provoked on seeing their national flag being trampled. But they cannot commit any offence to counter it, especially a person who is holding a diplomatic position and enjoying the hospitality of a law enforcing nation. What they could do is to buy a LTTE flag and trample it. This you can do it in Sri Lanka, but I will take a safe bet that none of these card board weeerayas living in UK will dare do it, as they are all living in mortal fear of LTTE supporters even they be unarmed.

In Srilanka’ Ranaviruwa’ can do anything and get out. The only one punished was General Sarath Fonseka the worlds best General in MRs and GRs words. Political colours matters lot. British justice is slow but decisive. The Govt.has succumbed to diplomatic pressure. We got a lot of egg on face due to executive action of withdrawing the suspension. Almost for a month the world’s most foolish government is dragging this and making headlines on Newspapers. If it had happen in any other embassy, unceremoniously the Ambassador might have sent back the officer.

But this has been done by a worthless country’s War Crime Heroic Rapist Army man. So Country’s president has taken the control of this matter and managing this stupidity instead of taking care of the political matters of the country. Further their Ambassador Amari Wijewardene is said to be leaving.

Whether he is a Hero or not is not the issue we have to look at, how much the Modayac Sinhalese are ready to suspend and sacrifice their lives for this ostentation created by the political leadership to ensure their power is preserved, is not the issue, but to what extent the country’s idiotic leader’s moronic action can go is the issue. I don’t think even his closest associates or advisors may know what this foolish president’s object is as the future of the country.

I don’t think he is recalled.
The President and the government dare not do that. They know that if they do that, the entire country will rise against the government. In two days we will see the truth.
    .
If he is recalled as per media reports, let us get to the streets in support of Brigadier Fernando.
Let’s have spontaneous protests in towns, villages, workplaces, fields everywhere.
Let’s come forward to protect our Brigadier who is an icon of brave Sinhalese nation.

“I don’t think he is recalled”. No he has been expelled. Government is saying recalled to cover up the disgrace of a diplomat being branded a criminal. Look at the answer given by the minister, to a question by an MP in British parliament. The decision to allow a diplomat to remain or not depends solely depends on the host nation and Sri Lanka government could do nothing about it. “If he is recalled as per media reports, let us get to the streets in support of Brigadier Fernando”. What nonsense coming from one who ran for miles with the drop of word that LTTE is around. Even if you stand on your head, this person who has been declared unwanted will be allowed into UK.

      • 2
        3

        Dr. Gnana Sankaralingam
Man, it was you and your TNA godfathers who ran to India to save your lives. We stayed back and faced LTTE’s daily bomb blasts. As I said, if the Brigadier is recalled, people will protest. Wait and see.
Sri Lanka should publish photographs, all details and possible whereabouts of exiled LTTE cadre overseas, in newspapers. Then you will see who will be expelled from UK or receive jail terms.
The historic verdict of the Swiss Court declaring LTTE as a criminal organization that attacked civilians and recruited child soldiers is the biggest blow to LTTE after Prabhakaran’s death as they considered Switzerland as their motherland.

        • 2
          1

Champa I did not run to India, but stayed back till May 1990 and witnessed not only LTTE bomb blasts but also murders of Tamils by Sinhala security forces and gangs. There is news that your Horiya ran away to evade arrest as his diplomatic status was removed. Countries which value human rights have decided not to allow any of these murderers to enter their territory even on a visit visa. Please ask government to publish names and photographs of exiled cadres overseas in news papers. Do you know why this has been done as most of LTTE cadres who surrendered have been killed by government. If they publish names and if those named are not found in any of these countries, then it is a proof of their murder. Switzerland has convicted only those who raised money for LTTE. Even other countries like UK and USA have convicted LTTE members for the same offence. Those who were convicted after serving their sentence are continuing to be good citizens of those countries. There will be know blow to LTTE due to this, as long as they make demands for the rights of Tamils for independence in peaceful ways.

The noble lady has indeed terminated her sojourn in London on her own terms as she will not stand for any nonsense – not by anyone and not by anyone who will pull political rank on her. File her action under ‘dignified exit’.

You are right. She resigned over principles. She is angry about action taken by that Aappa man to reinstate the criminal Horiya when she quite rightly suspended him from his duties. Further to my previous post, Amari Wijewardena was appointed on 08/02/16, but did not arrive in UK immediately, and presented her credentials to HRH Queen only on 15/11/16. Even if you consider the first date, she finishes her three year term only in February 2019. But correctly when considering the date of assuming the post, her tenure is till November 2019. How can one say that she completed her contract and is returning home. Whom are they trying to fool.

Brigadier Priyankara Fernando must copyright his method of fighting terrorism.
The copyright income may pay for his children’s education in the UK.
Only GoSL will use this method and so the cost of educating the kids will be borne by the Lankan tax payer!

The Brigadier without his armoury is the best weapon against Yahalapana at the next election. Let him be in Sri Lanka and that will appease both the Tiger Lobby and Yahalapana supporters. When the next election comes around all the opposition have to do is to parade the hero. He is worth his weight in gold. The opposition will be foolish to have the decision reversed now. The better political option is to capitalise on it,come the next election. He will be a draw card. Yahalapana can keep on pulling out Thajudeen from his grave and displaying him.!

Why is this man a hero? Cannot the Sinhala Buddhists see that his children are kept in schools in England while he and his political kind feed hatred and ignorance to the common people so that they could remain poor while his class profits through corruption.

The truth of the matter is that he is recalled for consultations and not the assignment being terminated. If there is no termination then recalling the family does not arise. In fact everyone in the High Commission must be called for consultations. I really wonder what is the role of defense attaches, both in High Commission of Sri Lanka in the UK and the High Commission of UK in Sri Lanka.

      Good Sense

The defense attaches are the best sales reps for selling unwanted/unnecessary weapon system to you. The manufacturers/agents (merchants of death) approach your defense attache abroad and convince him the need to buy a particular type of killing machines/tools, mostly with some sweetener attach to the deal.

Apart from this they also collect intelligence, …………..

Between 1987 – 1989, the British Defense attache in Colombo was supposed to have coordinated the Sri Lankan military’s brutal counter insurgency attack on home grown JVP terrorists. It is one reason as to why those operations didn’t attract wide international attention.

Ranil apparently has asked that the Brigadier be sacked but did not want to make it public. Why? Why? It is his aunt who was High Com and she wanted the Brgdr sacked too, but was overruled by Sirisena. If Ranils written order is leaked he might as well give up politics as that will cause his immediate downfall. The party room won’t like it either, as their political fortunes already on a downward trajectory, will go down like a lead balloon. All Mahinda has to do is smack his lips and wait, as political power will just fall into his lap soon.

Now we know that A supine Yahapalana has abdicated it’s Rights over its own citizens by knuckling down to pressure from the Tamil diaspora. I suggest that Ranil take some desperate steps to give franchise to the Tamils in London to vote for him. It is quite clear that no self respecting Sinhalese will ever vote for the U NP

A credible non-military investigation should be held as this officer was in UK not as a military person but on a diplomatic appointment. Hence its important an independent credible inquiry should be held by a person or persons who are neutral and fair. After the investigation if this person is found not to have committed any wrong doing he should return back to his old position in UK.

“Hence its important an independent credible inquiry should be held by a person or persons who are neutral and fair. After the investigation if this person is found not to have committed any wrong doing he should return back to his old position in UK”.

What a Balanced, marvelous, middle oath traveler Park is!

We have been writing here the middle path for a Park like Sinhala Buddhist is “if a thief has stolen and it is proved with a Sinhala Only Jury, the verdict is the victim will have to share the 50 percent of the theft with the thief.” The how can you find a middle path punishment for rape criminal? How he claims his 50% back? The supernatural head of Sinhala Buddhism has solution for that too. Just marry her by the order of Sinhala Jury! This is how the reparation solution the Sinhala Buddhist Old Royal was working out for hundreds of thousands of war victim women.

Shameless guy this Park. Where is Park going find an independent investigation when the Army General has already declared that there is no crime and no need for investigation? Where is Park going to find out an independent investigation when the head of the country ordered that suspension was wrong and he had to be reinstated? When any Sinhala Only Jury did went against President or Army General when case was involved of Tamils.

If the Sinhalese and Tamils could not make a middle path, will Park resent this goon to be investigated in London, where the crime took place? Everybody knows this goon is a persona non grata in UK, so he has to investigate as per the UK laws. As he is persona non grata in UK he should be returned back UK to face their trial.

Here’s a point or two to ponder. The hypocrisy of UK and the MPs who protested to send back this fool is evident in if you look as UK’s sales record.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/blood-money-uk-s-123bn-arms-sales-to-repressive-states-8711794.html

Everyone is in it for their own piece of cake. We the public be it Tamil, Sinhalese, Muslim or the average Britisher ultimately pays for it by life, limb and ‘blood’ money. Who are the losers now ?

How about childrens security.lts good for the Army to say sorry and admit the terribe mistake and court martial the officer and close the episode. In this case both present and past presidents displayed their inàbiity fathom a minor storm. Present one by withdrawimg the recall oder and the past by failing to undertand a deadly gesture. This is the calibre of the people looking after our security.We. might have borrow from Americans and include in our Presidential oath “So help me God”
