Exclusive: Sajith Premadsa Only Has Sick Degrees From UK And US, London Uni Carrying Out Further Investigations

Former UNP deputy leader and Hambantota District MP Sajith Premadasa does not have a proper degree, Colombo Telegraph can now reveal.

Premadasa’s Wikipedia page says he obtained a Bsc. Degree in Economics, International Relations and Political Science from the London School of Economics.

Colombo Telegraph investigations have revealed that although Premadasa was awarded a degree from LSE he did not complete his degree programme work.

Speaking to Colombo Telegraph Sajith Premadasa acknowledged that he had only sat for his first year exams at LSE because he had been sick with measles and then a paralysis of his legs which prevented him from sitting for further exams.

Premadasa gained admission to a post graduate programme in Maryland on the basis of his LSE degree but never completed his studies due to his father’s death, he told Colombo Telegraph.

Asked if he had undertaken grief  counselling when his father died in order to continue with his studies Premadasa said he had not.

His Facebook page says; A graduate of the London School of Economics (LSE) and Political Science of the University of London, his degree covered the areas of economics, politics and international relations, an education that served him in good stead later when he launched himself into grassroots politics.

“Our records show that Sajith Premadasa graduated from LSE with an undergraduate degree in international relations in 1989. We do not allow students to graduate who have not completed their course of study. I would be grateful, therefore, if you could let me know why you believe Mr Premadasa did not complete his studies at LSE?” London School of Economics and Political Science asked Colombo Telegraph.

When Colombo Telegraph revealed some of our findings the LSE replied; “Further to your call and this email, this is just to confirm we are carrying out further investigations into our records to establish the exact status of Mr Premadasa. This will require consultation with the University of London, the awarding body at the time, who hold the original records. This may take some time.”

    When talking about degrees, our man Mervin Silva has obtained a PhD. There are two more in the plantation companies, who seems to have attended night classes and got doctorates.

      Give credit where credit is due. Mervyn Silva never claimed he had obtained a PhD. His doctorate is an honorary one but most people, except for egomaniacs, do not use it to call themselves “Doctors” in reverence to those people who have obtained their degrees the hard way.

    In classic Sri Lankan style….most of you are.. koheda yanney..malley pol!!! The issue here is not who has a degree and who does not, and if one is needed to govern. NO!!! Its about honesty and truthfulness, which we are in abject need of. If you are unable to figure that one out, you have a condition worse than that of Mr Sajith Premadasa. Everybody favoring him have assumed he is this capable, educated young leader sidelined by Ranil. Any of you experts wondered why he went to do grass root politics in Hambantota, leaving his father’s stronghold of Colombo Central? Has he done anything noteworthy beyond saying he is ready for leadership? Ranil W needs to be punished for destroying the UNP single-handedly with no repercussions for a multitude of electoral defeats. He enjoys more perks as leader of opposition than he would as a cabinet minister. So why spoil the fun times! That does not excuse the rest of the nincompoops in the party, all vying for some benefit. You can all rest assured they are ALL unprincipled hacks without exception. Thats how Ranil has been able to keep them in his corner, with promises and threats. If ONE OF THEM has an ounce of principle or honesty, they would expose him and creat an opportunity for open discussions. They can’t and they will not because there is too much to lose and nothing to be gained other than temporary notoriety.

    Sajith is in a bind. On one hand he has obtained a Degree from the LSE, on the other he didn’t complete the academic requirements for it. So he got it by not doing anything. How cool is that ? The LSE too is in a bind, they are used to it, push come to shove, they will say it was an Honorary Degree. Amen. To Sajith, stop referring to the Degree from now. Just go ” as, is “. I am, who I am, education be damned. Your fathers UoL, works. Btw, if these Questions were asked, if Sajith was the president, what would have happened to the Journo’s ? Thanks for reading.

    people who wanted sajith to be the leader of the UNP will understand why ranil does not wants to step down as the leader of the unp.if sajith had been a qualified man to lead the unp the the country it is ok to ranil to step down as leader.i think ranil had check sajiths education qualification long ago that is why he does not care what ever sajith says.there are some roomers that sajith does not pass O/L EXAM in sri lanka.
