Five Army Officers Suspended For Their Involvement In Keith Noyahr Abduction

Five army officers, including a Major have been suspended by the Army for their alleged involvement in the abduction and assault of former deputy editor of The Nation Keith Noyahr.

Gota

The five army personnel who were arrested by the CID over the weekend are currently in remand custody, as ordered by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate.

Noyahr, a senior journalist was abducted in 2008 near his residence and was severely beaten but was released the next day. The incident happened just days after Noyahr wrote an article critical of Sarath Fonseka in his weekly military column published in The Nation. Fonseka now serves as senior minister in the present government.

However, in a new twist, it appears that the blame is now being put on former defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, for being the person who orchestrated the incident.

Soon after his abduction and subsequent release, Noyahr who sustained serious injuries, left the country with his family.

“Five army officers, including a Major have been suspended by the Army for their alleged involvement in the abduction and assault of former deputy editor of The Nation Keith Noyahr.”

You have arrested the fired, guns, thugs.

Now go to the next step, the chain of command , as to who ordered the hired thugs to assault?

Then prosecuted the lynch pin or pins. It is that simple. Ask President Sirisena to keep aside, let the Law of the Land take over.

I really dont think… that none of the arrested may have not yet added anything about the man who gave them the command.

We keep on observering…. FCID arrests men day by day…

but newly introduced RTI pact, if it really works as expected, we as citizens should have every right to know, why the FCID stays stalemate, after those men are arrested.

WHY THEY CANT GET INTO THE NEXT STEP ?

As we know former so called regime s Defence secretary was above the president. So, either former prez or secretary of defence should have given the order army men to react right ?
Why cant FCID move forward then ? We all know no barriers are there, if FCID would take fearless action ?
Those intelligence men have no balls ? If the current GOVT says, that we are appointed for good governance, they cant stand on the way if FCID woudl do the due with all the prima facie evidence being collected.

PLEASE FCID; DO WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT – PEPOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY ARE WITH YOU.
THAT WAY YOU FCID DO a great job, else, you are just NO WORTH ANY MORE; our valuable time… keeping hoping day to another is useless actually.

The absolutely chilling realization is that Gota the White Van man wants to be the next President of Sri Lanka for the SLFP!

        This is truly horrifying!

Netting the small fry when the sharks are roaming gaily?

With selective justice we will NEVER be a mature democracy. And no worthy foreign investor will trust this country.

Or perhaps I am dead wrong! It is possible of course that Keith assaulted himself silly. Now how’s that for a story?

The Brutish during Word War 2 did not kill the Indian Independence Fighters, unless they committed crimes such as killings, or were in demonstrations, and put the in Jail.

Rajapaksas did not put them in jail. Just killed them, never to return for most. That was the policy.

See how they killed. Even you muslims were barbarians.

history of the Indian Mutiny, which broke out 150 years ago and is acknowledged to have been the greatest challenge to any European power in the 19th century, claims that the British pursued a murderous decade-long campaign to wipe out millions of people who dared rise up against them.

In War of Civilisations: India AD 1857, Amaresh Misra, a writer and historian based in Mumbai, argues that there was an “untold holocaust” which caused the deaths of almost 10 million people over 10 years beginning in 1857. Britain was then the world’s superpower but, says Misra, came perilously close to losing its most prized possession:

      How stupid are you?

“All these happened during a active war period.”
So what? This was a reporter not a party to the war.

“If Sinhale di dnot have laws, that would be the govt fault.”
At no time in Sri Lanka has kidnapping and assault been legal.

“How can they investigate things happened during a war.”
Even wars are governed by laws local and international.

“Many took bribes and was working against the country.”
That’s a crime too and there are laws and ways to deal with that too.

Gota the Killer and White Van goon orchestrated most of the attacks on and killing of journalists and other prominent crimes during his brother MaRa’s regime. This eight grade qualified man was able to work only as a Gas Station Attendant in the US and hence was vindictive of all qualified people in and outside the country. However, since anything can happen in the Banana Republic of Sri Lanka, MaRa made him the Defence head.

Mega commissions from MIG Deals, illegal floating armoury selling arms to international terrorists, and other defence procurements made him a rich man. Now he is using that wealth to bribe Yahapalanaya leaders and buy immunity from arrests. Why not arrest him with Willie Gamage who aided Gota on all those commissions.

Are you exonerating the man who was the target of the article Leith wrote? Absurd. You must be barking for the man failed to get even 60,000 votes for his party or himself.

This is a regionally developing story that will be covered up by RW. RW needs the man who ordered the hit because he is so afraid of the Military. MY3 has his own man but he too is scared. So no one will touch the man who ordered this attack. Why? Because you have to cover your own arse. RW will never risk it. He is too chicken.

Wonder how xxxxx is going to twist this. Funny. Everyone knows who ordered the hit and who controlled that unit. But of course given his inability to be honest and truthful, he night just try to frame his erstwhile buddy from the war days. Watch out for “suicides, sudden food poisoning, accidental deaths by drowning, heart attacks induced by potassium chloride “etc. Remember a General died “accidentally” too when a rafter “accidentally” fell on an enemy of regional development. One “confessed” in Kegalle . One committed suicide while in the military hospital etc to cover up more details in 2006 of another matter.

      Funny,

………..and, one general died due to a bomb fixed beneath the right rear seat of his Land Rover exploding when he went on reconnaissance to observe LTTE positions across the Jaffna Lagoon – three inquiries concluded that the bomb had been fixed when the vehicle was in possession of the army.

    Dear all participants,
From the time of independence about 70 years have elapsed and all Countries given independence have evolved into the modern world status. Except for Sri Lanka continued enacting the rules of ancient rulers oppress and capture. What the powerful nations did in the past to the former rich Countries oppress and capture was stopped with realization and evolving of the world order.
It is now made well aware for the world and many Sri Lankans what Sri Lankan Governments have been doing against the world order oppressing and capturing for the last 70 years and still continuing.
As it is within Sri Lanka it is not possible to conclude if the well known torchers and criminals of Sri Lanka are heroes or criminals because of the policy of oppress and capture of Tamils by all the Governments. Please wait and see.

      Richard:

As a Tamil you were willing to learn English. but, you don’t like to elarn sinhala.

when Pabakaran was killing everyway what did you say ?

Now, pabakaran is killed you want the killers punished.

He doesn’t like to learn Sinhala. What is your problem? Why dont you learn Tamil? English is the official ‘link’ language according to the constitution. Do you even know what is a constitution?

When Prabaharan was killing Tamils, nobody is allowed to speak against him if were under his control . If you did, you get shot. People in the south enjoyed the freedom of speech which was deprived among the Tamils during the reign of Prabaharan. Now praba is gone, people are expressing their views.

Your tiny tiny brain cant understand this complex issue.

        Jim Nutty,

“When Prabakaran was killing everyway what did you say”.

True to your Nutty Name, do you equate a Leader of a Terror Outfit with that of an Elected President of a country, although by bribing LTTE, true to form of an ACE TSUNAMI HORA.

You idiots will never learn. First know what you are talking, How on earth do you justify the killing of journalists and innocent civilians, even after the war was ended ably aided and abeted by the President of a country. Nut cracker, you are.

Do you need a list you nutty, of the people killed by your APPACHI and GOAT FATHER after the war. Let me give you only a sample, Lasantha, Ekneheliyagoda, Thajudeen and numerous others abducted by your GOAT FATHER in WHITE VANS and mercilessly killed.

we will get to them through Yahapalanaya and that was one of the objective of getting you guys ousted, regardless of our race or religion. Luckily we still have some intelligent Sinhalese left in our Country who see things sensibly, unlike you fools.

Mark your days buddy, the people are coming and no stopping that now, and don’t shout Muslims and Tamils only, we are all coming at you as a Nation including the sensible Sinhalese.

    Another side of the story:

Noyahr’s adductors obviously had nothing personal against him; they only carried out someone else’s order. The task before the CID, which has, thankfully, risen from a politically induced slumber, is to find out who ordered the abduction at issue. A major attached to the Directorate of Military Intelligence is not equal to the task of carrying out a high-profile abduction on his own without orders from his superiors; he is as helpless as an unarmed reserve constable facing a mob of government goons. It may be recalled that in September 2012 the then powerful minister Mervyn Silva’s son, Malaka, assaulted a military intelligence officer of the rank of major at a Colombo nightclub. The hapless officer took it all lying down and his assailants even stripped him of his service revolver.

A few weeks after Noyahr’s abduction, the then Chief Opposition Whip (UNP), Joseph Michael Perera, making a special statement in Parliament on attacks on journalists and media institutions, claimed that they were carried out by a ‘special team’ controlled by the then Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka himself. He called upon the Rajapaksa government to arrest the offenders immediately. The UNP, currently ensconced in power, is in a position to arrest all those involved in the aforesaid unit. Will the CID continue to turn its Nelsonian eye on Perera’s statement for political reasons?

Were the three military personnel, currently being held on remand, over Noyahr’s abduction, members of Fonseka’s special unit? The UNP owes the public an answer.

“SL police have arrested five military intelligence officers on suspicion of killing a well-known anti-establishment newspaper editor and orchestrating attacks on other journalists and dissidents under the former regime, according to a legal source. Lasantha Wickrematunge, a sharp critic of ex-President Rajapakse, was assasinated by unidentified gunmen while driving to work in Colombo in January 2009.”

Sure the people that committed the crime should be charged but the person or persons that ordered the criminal act is as guilty and should be charged and held accountable.

How stupid the reasoning is? Who fought whom and for what? Only a diligent and independent investigation only can reveal the truths. Do we have such a mindset to engage in such misadventure?

For the information of Sinhala Basha Patriots. Sinhala Language was taught in the schools in the North way back in the 1950s long before the Nasty Sinhala only Act of 1956.

History is not the Mahavamsa of the monks of the past. It is a true and fair recordings of real happenings!
