Foreign Ministry Gags Sri Lankan Embassy In UAE From Divulging Information On Madush Arrest

Sri Lankan officials at both the Sri Lankan embassy and consulate general in the UAE have been barred from speaking on the arrest and detention of Makandure Madush who is currently being held in Dubai.

Makandure Madush

Makandure Madush’s toxicology reports had showed that he and nearly 25 others had various drugs ranging from cocaine to heroin in their blood, when they were arrested at a lavish birthday he had thrown for his son on Monday.

Only 5 individuals have been cleared. When inquired from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Abu Dhabi and consulate general in Dubai, officials said they had sworn to secrecy and were strictly told not to speak of the case, particularly to media personnel.

They had received orders from the ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sri Lanka. The foreign ministry is working with the ministry of defense over the case. FM officials said that the discussions were mainly to do with ensuring that Sri Lanka’s interest were met. It was not clear what these interests were.

The money-power of the super rich drug-trafficking business in Sri Lanka extends far and deep into the high political, Customs, Police, security apparatus. No surprise, a notorious trafficker infiltrated the political system and became a Deputy Minister although the entire country thought of him as a joker. A former PM was a notorious trafficker – firmly in the books of Interpol to our shame. It is noteworthy that a current day PM confirmed this not long ago, albeit in innuendo, in the floor of Parliament. Hundreds of thousands of children, meanwhile, are either traffickers or into the habit destroying many families.

There are major and minor drug-lords in the cities and in the suburban areas with various colourful
aliases. This is an area in which Buddhism can play a useful role to restrict the deleterious affect in the young. One wonders why there is silence and non-action from the religious hierarchy.

I need to be educated. What are these drugs? This is one problem, and it will grow. Obviously, new drugs will constantly be devised for a variety of new effects. How can we who must “police” the problem, get to know about them?
        .
I thought that cold blooded drug dealers (whom we must hang) were people who knew the dangers of drugs didn’t touch the stuff.
        .
Now it appears that Madush is an addict, a victim who must be rehbilitated with great kindness.
        .
Yes, obviously he’s both; no, I won’t shed tears if he is hanged. However, I hope that I have highlighted the dilemma for us. Our own children may be the victim-villains.

This proves the lack of ADEQUATE trainings being given to those EMBASSAY personnel before them being appointed to the positions.
      :
The impact of the any issues, if occured by devulging valuable information may be huge. After being revealed to press, they would NOT abe able to do anythign to save the information. I think today s external affairs lack proper trainings. They should not fall to the levels of housemaids or drivers being just exported to those countries.
      :
Just taking that CLOWN ASP, Liyanage of Quatar embassy does nt know how to hold a decent dialogue with hispersonnel. So, why the ministries allow the kind of MEN or WOMEN to be the representives in such diplomatic missions ? I think we talk all high about our race, only in the past going back to Ms B, also to CBK, we found all capable personnel had been appointed to foreign missions.
Great Kadirgamar rendered a yeoman service to the country, that was under CBK govt. MR is the leader who to have allowed even TEA taster cum business men to take over the duties of an ambassador. MR never repsected experience and the credentials of the diplomats, but just appointed as carpenters or masons would have been good enough to do the job of a surgeon. ….. Let alone today, people should slowly realize the harm that Rajapakshes have done to this nation.

“FM Official said, Discussions were mainly to do with ensuring Sri Lanka’s interests”. Those “INTERESTS” are nothing but the “INTERESTS” of very many of the “VIPs” – “Politicos”; their “Sons”, “Law Enforcement Officials”; “Local Government Politicians” the “Goons” working hand hand with the VIPs”; some “Business Men” ( mostly engaged in Tourism and Hotel Industry) and this list of “INTERESTS” are too many in a country wide “NET WORK”. All these “interests” are the main concerns of the entire political “Mafia”; but interestingly and pathetically the innocent who have been roped in to a huge “Consumer Base” is not the “Interests” , other than of course to keep the “Supply Chain” uninterrupted.. I now suspect even the “uncalled for” and all of a “Sudden”public announcement of a “FUND” of Rs. 21 million of the “POHOTTUWA” – SLPP.. Who knows, “who and who” have made contributions? Isn’t it unreasonable to believe these “Monies” could have been coming from “Unknown” sources, most probably connected to “Drug Business”. Well it is still speculation and let us give the benefit of the doubt to the “DEVIL”. To Foreign Ministry: You are still a bunch of FROGS IN WELL. The “World” of COMMUNICATION is now a travel distance of “Few Minutes” via a “key Pad” of a Lap Top. So these “GAG” orders are merely cosmetics.

Has most of the voters turned out to be drug pins, drug dealers and drug addicts? Is that the reason why BP Rajapaksa distributed Sil Redi to Upasakayas and Upasaka Ammas to turn them into drug addicted so that the they vote for BP Rajapaksa, just the same way drug dealers and drug addicts vote for them?

Dubai police done the excellent job. Now our government ministers want to take credit of it. They must be planning something to convince general public on this regard. That may be the reason for it. I think soon Government minister will come with ferry tale like ones we heard in our childhood uttered by our grandmother just after dinner while sitting on her knee for good night sleep. illusion present day voters are not that foolish I suppose though our politicians believed so!!!!!!!!!!!!.

A young UNP MP from Kamburugamuwa and ,a decent orator for that matter, was in Kotte the other day defending his friendship with his school mate Maduska who was busted in Dubai.

This MP admitted even attending Madushka’s Dad’s Funeral.
And bragged that he would even attend Maduska’s Funeral.

This disclosure came public as a result of the State Minister and self claimed Corruption Buster and the UNP State Minister Mr Ramanayak’s allegation that this UNP MP has amassed so much wealth under Yahapalanaya.

The Young MP also disclosed in Kotte that the Senior Ministers who mentor him said to him that every Politician who is in charge of any development project in the Country first wants to know what his Cut ( Santhosam) is, before ticking off the approval.

That is the sad situation this Nation is facing Today.
And it i was created by this Yahapalanaya , which came in to Office with all the Guns Blazing to eliminate Corruption and Corrupt Politicians .

Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans have continued on their descent to lower and lower level of cheapness or shamelessness.
This is a trend that was introduced to us by Mara/ Rajapakaya and unfortunately Sri Lankans learnt very quickly and started towing the line.
Now Maras modus operandi have become the norm.
It is such a shame that we pride ourselves to be Buddhist but our ways are such a contrast to the Buddhist philosophy.
We have lost our self-respect, our dignity, our morals, and in fact we have simply lost our way.
Instead we have become a bunch of unscrupulous rogues hiding behind ill-gotten material wealth pretending we are holier than thou.
Who are we fooling? We are just fooling ourselves. What a shame.
The solution to every problem is to hide it like it never happend, and that is the official stand point of our government. What can you expect from the common man on the street?

Just like the Sajin de Vass G ‘kambulparagate’ in New York, now we have ‘Madushagate’. Recognise the similarities? The whole world knows and talks about it but the government and its agencies cannot. This is why they had an extended session on just this sort of thing at the last FM seminar for up and coming diplomats.

Almost all of those who write comments against the bust in Dubai are supporters of Yahapalanaya; but they now work against the current President MS. This is a bit contradictory to us, the common reader!
‘There is a minister (cabinet or non-cabinet) behind every drug dealer, criminal and serial killer’ alleges the common man, and that can not be ruled out as an exaggeration. Recently, a prominent senior journalist in SL said the most corrupt place in the country is its parliament and the audience was not surprised!
MS took only five months and now over 95% of drug dealers, traffickers and drug kingpins with their concubines are on the run or under arrest.
Let him do the job for another few months with the help of STF and law enforcement authorities. We know that he stopped listening to the PM, certain ministers, and many UNPers, which may be the secret behind his ‘success story’. He will turn his eagle eye to ships and containers (full of drugs) eventually.
Yahapalana comment writers may not have to waste CT space and our time afterwards.

We still have not read in any Media or anywhere a clear reason why this arrest took place. We can guess if this is a retaliation for the arrest in hotel where New Son Prince and New Son in Law Prince were staying.

On the opposite side, there are News saying that Makandura was not under the influence or drug or alcohol, while being arrested. It is said he stopped using those. If the arrest has taken place with the knowledge of his new rehabilitation, then this might have to defeat the war on drugs, too. The additional reason is no Rapist Army or Rapist Police are arrested so far though they trade it in the daytime openly.

All what we know this a game, like others. But we don’t know to unknot it.

Before dealing with drug traffickers, Uncle Sirisena
will have to put the Police in order. M.R. Latiff, the
STF Commandant (a known bluffer in Police circles)
misled the media with the first story that the STF
and the Dubai Police had conducted a raid on a
party held by Madush. He was waiting for the extension
of his service. Even Prime Minister Ranil W issued
a statement praising him. What happened? Latiff
could not hide the truth. It came to light that it was ONLY
the Dubai Police ONLY the Dubai Police that carried out
the raid. The so called elite STF had nothing rpt nothing
to do with it. Now they are raising all kinds of Madush
associates who they say are Roast Paan Ronnie, Malu Paan
Michael and Kottu Rotti Kokka. What a shame!! What happened
to an elite force at one time. Nobody, not even the IGP cares
    about these things.

Earlier Hezbollah saved Old King’s face from Saudi Government. Employment agencies pay to officials and send out innocents small children to slavery. This time Latiff is doing it to New King.

The Tamil woman in the customs wanted to catch something there in favor of Joint Comedy Club. So the UNP has put her to investigate past SLFP jugglery. These minority acolytes work only for UNP, SLFP, Slap Party… ….. the Sinhala Masters, but there is nothing for the country. Some save their jobs like Latiff but many Tamils end up in their master’s enemy’s hand as cannon fodders like Kathirgamar or Mahendran. Only Chinnaiah, Indran like few saved their heads.

We have to be practical. Drugs are there to stay. Few countries tolerate small quantities. Drug users flock to Netherlands so called Coffee shops to indulge.More countries are contemplating following Netherlands. Like liquor and Tobacco we have to regulate the drug menace. Where Buddha Jesus and Mohammed and all our present religious have failed who are we laymen to totally eradicate drugs.

Having lived for more than 25 Years in Europe, the tolerant drug policy(State regulated heroin is given to users and a rehabilitation programme is also included so that the Users are registered then the first two years provided with the stuff and finally phased out by giving substitutes like methadon/Polamidon which then also is phased out slowly and if medically they are fit withdrawal is done in the rehab centers using alternative treatments. You cannot stop an User immediately. It takes time and patience and also the vacuum created thereof needs to be filled. During all these service by the state the User is also given a job or trained further. He has to be useful to Society this is the motto of all european Governments. The drug trade can be at least limited not completely wiped out if the state regulates imports small quantities and gives to long term USers or to Users who suffer from illnesses which are incurable and if sudden withdrawn would suffer more adverse effects. So the withdrawal has to be done medically especially for long term Users. this is done scientifically in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Surprisingly in the Netherlands most of the Consumerists are foreigners not the dutch as through the open policy they are well aware of the negative consequences and many a dutch youth now are not keen on consuming drugs. It is no secret that once you start to suppress the end result is the opposite see analog alcohol ban in the USA in the 30’s and 40’s which created the mafia and illicit liquor.as well as casinos. So the only way out is to legalize in small quantities for the long term User and to provide them with substitutes and bring them back to the working fold as many of them are highly qualified according to my research. We have to gibve the benefit of the doubt. So a controlled User is more easy to rehabilitate than uncontrolled Users. Now the main menace is the new drug ICE. more than heroin this is killing our youth. Let the heroin addicts be tolerated as in Holland, Switzerland and Germany,Sweden etc.. i mean the long term Users. Why not give a try and have a trial experiment to see the rresults with the advice and help of these countries who possess more experience in this.

Gasbag Ranjan is saying ministers are addicted. Then the Leader of the cabinet, the New Royal Angoda Lokka II has to respond to this. He didn’t want Ranga or Ponny in ministry. Then how can he appoint the addicts there.

Gasbag Ranjan said he has no connection with the drug addict artists. How about Ranjan’s relationship ministers who are addicted?

Gasbag Ranjan may not know. Now News is saying though there was some accusations against Makendure there was never any evidence to show that he was involved in murders or drug.

The world over, narcotics dealers/users are confronted by law enforcing agencies. The arrestee’s embassy steps in – sometimes reluctantly.
    .
A person and his entourage was arrested by the narcotics division of Dubai police. On learning the identity, as reported in CT, Lankan Foreign Service and Defense Ministry get involved. The Lankan Embassy in Doha is gagged. Some information are deliberately leaked, for example, so and so arrested never ever used drugs.
    .
There is something unbecoming here and clumsy too.
    The truth will emerge.
PS: Dubai is a stopover for our leaders on any foreign jaunts.

Only solution is not to vote for all old parties such as UNP, SLFP, Pohottuwa etc.
Please vote for a NEW party in the future elections. There will be new political movements in the future.
That is the only way to save future of our country.

      Nalaka Mallo,

You are a day dreamer. You put numerous black, white and red balls into a basket and then blindly pull ont two and see the combination? This is what will happen in our totally lawless and mortally corrupt land. Do you think JVP karaya will save the country? You will then end up without Mysore pariipu and Bombay Lunu!

Lankan hora and corrupt gene is so dominant that nothing is going to change. Do you think that weeramonkey or Gamonpulle will save us? Do you even think that Sothy GL Peries will save us? No way mallo. Only way is to lease out Lanka to Cheena fellows and all will end up without our kidneys. We must accept that we cannot run a country. That will be the miracle of Asiyawa.

monks are distributing drugs, that how they drive defenders. ganasaraya is also a drug mule, as monks are not checked by police, and temples are not raided. drugs are kept in temples, and distributed. even dalada maligaya was used by these monks some time back.

Pseudo names and pointing fingers at each other like Rajapaksa Inc., is not going to solve this grievous problem which is ruining the country and the future generation. The present day right thinking far sighted sincere honest patriotic individuals both in the various political framework inside and outside should take a firm decision to address this situation and bring legislation that will deter such activities from grass root level. Educate the children at school of the danger of this menace. This is a Buddhist majority country with other religious groups living in a peaceful environment that should be harnessed fully and we should have people in foreign countries representing our beloved motherland with men/women of the caliber as Lakshman Kadirgamar / Sir Senarath Gunewardene / Ananda Guruge / Sir Razik Fareed / T.B.Jayah / Monarawela / Tissa Jayakody to bring fame and honor to the country. Not nincompoops who will sell our motherland for their advantage. The drug problem should be a priority for a lasting solution and should be addressed immediately and punishment meted out without delay without any fear or favor be it a big/small/medium personality from any walk of life and no favoritism. Any body interfering in such matters should get their civic rights cancelled.

It is very surprising that when a poor innocent Muslim girl named Rizana was allegedly beheaded by the Saudi authorities no lawyers were worried or even the politicians had not shown any interest. Moreover, the Saudis regretted over it and there was a news item that when Rupees One Million (Rs.1,000,000/=) was offered to the girl’s family, no one knows whether it reached the family. But when a notorious drug dealer was arrested, it is astonishing that some lawyers and politicians are worried. Poor people cannot expect justice.

      @Rajasingham,
Saudi did not regret executing Rizana. However, I was informed that Rizana had a chance that was never explored. One way was to convince the Saudi family who lost their child to forgive Rizana. They did not. If they did, then an appeal could have won her freedom. There was another missed opportunity. I consulted an Egyptian cleric(Fiqh counsel) and academic of Sharia law at American University in Cairo. He suggested that from previous cases he knew (as in Rizana’s case) that there was a legal loophole that was not mounted as an argument by her defense team. This was the irrefutable evidence that Rizana was a victim of corrupt and duped system with job agents, and a judicial system that falsified Rizana’s deposition, discriminated her social status and violated her right to international legal counsel. A corrupt Saudi prosecution withheld information of Rizana’s fraudulent birth certificate, about her work visa application, and falsified on her qualifications and level of skill. Rizana did not have any skills to be made a guardian to supervise or in the protection of an infant or minor. No one bothered to argue this side of her case to Saudi authorities although the prosecution knew this and did nothing about it. This is obstruction of justice. Under Sharia law if a challenge was mounted for a mistrial, Rizana would have won that mistrial. Sharia law is not inhuman. In some cases, far more effective than the law practiced in most Western countries. If a person is placed on death-row under Sharia law, then that person condemned wins more right to challenge for their freedom because that person’s right to live is now taken away by a human decision only second to God.

I say those 143 containers had drugs too. MAngala’s Secretary was helping them. Ms. Charles was investigating why 143 containers were passed, that may be why Mangala did not like it.
Mangala got Thilak MArapana to establish a foreign ministry branch in MAtara. That may be Mangala is informing someone about what is happening in the foreign ministry. It looks Thilak Marapana is dumb and the others are blind to what Mangala is doing.
