The much hyped Right to Information Bill, which was presented in Parliament in March suffered a setback, after the Supreme Court ruled that certain clauses of the bill was in violation of the Constitution, and steps must be taken to amend them accordingly.

On Tuesday the Supreme Court had informed Speaker Karu Jayasuriya that the Right to Information Bill in its present form is required to be passed by the special majority as provided for in article 84(2) of the Constitution and approved by the people at a referendum.
The Right to Information Bill was presented in Parliament on March 24 by Mass Media and Parliamentary Reforms Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka.

Would this Bill also include Charities which are registered as Private Companies.?
In the UK they are now considering Charities to be included because of collapse of the system.
FIA is overstepped generally by citing national security.
Can some safeguards be placed that it is not overstepped willy-nilly quoting national security when it comes to purchase of Arms, Foreign Contracts etc.

The basic problem in SL is the country is run by aged political hacks who still live in the past and unable to settle old political feuds.
Probably one solution is to include a clause in the next constitution that no person above the age of 55 years old should be allowed to run for parliament for the next 25 years.
This would give a smarter younger generation to run the country instead of the present tired lot.
