Gota’s Address To The Professionals On How Fools Made The Rulers Bloody Fools

Arun Kumaresan – Air Vice Marshal (Ret’d)

A news item appearing in Daily FT dated Monday 28 November 2016 relates to an address by Gotabaya Rajapaksa (GR) at ‘Viyathmaga’ (Professionals for a better future) held at Palatuwa, Matara. GR’s own acknowledgement of the role played by him in the takeover of Sri Lankan Airlines needs a further evaluation in the context of the eventual outcome of the takeover.

GR contends, quote “It was I who facilitated the meeting between the pilots union and President Rajapaksa. In most probability it was on their recommendation that President Rajapaksa did not extend the Emirates contract.” Due to his own admission, there can be no debate on his role. The implication this decision had on the airline and the Nation needs to be told ‘LOUD AND CLEAR’ to the ‘Professionals for a better future’, intelligentsia and the common man of Sri Lanka.

Air Lanka was established as the flag carrier of Sri Lanka, as the then government closed down the bankrupt Air Ceylon in 1980. Air Lanka, which was state-owned, was partially privatized in 1998, with the investment made by Dubai-based Emirates Group. Emirates and the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) signed an agreement for a ten-year strategic partnership. This agreement included exclusive rights for all aircraft ground handling and airline catering at Colombo for a ten-year period. Emirates purchased a 40% stake worth US$70 million (later increased up to 43.6%) in the then Air Lanka. It also sought to refurbish the airline’s image and fleet. Whilst GOSL retained the majority stake in the airline, the investment and management decisions were left to Emirates. In 1998, Air Lanka was re-branded as Sri Lankan Airlines.gotabaya

There are two noteworthy events that are relevant and needs mention; Government of Sri Lanka held majority stake and the rebranding by Emirates gave it the most befitting name – SRILAKAN- that made all Sri Lankans to emotionally own and value even to date. To cut the long story short as stated by GR due to his intervention, Emirates handed over the control of the national carrier to the GOSL in 2008. The economic benefits of this ten year partnership were as follows. Sale of 40% stake yielded Rs 7 Billion (Assumption: USD in 1998 was at Rs 100). Accumulated profit at the time of hand over in 2008 was Rs 9.25 Billion. The country benefitted and filled its coffers with the 57% of GOSL share holding amounting to a tune of 5.27 Billion. It should be noted that during this partnership of 10 year period from 1998 to 2008 with Emirates. GOSL did not dole out a single cent to the airline.

Then we come to post 2008 when GOSL took full control and managed the airline on the advice of some pilots to GR and later to his brother MR. The cash flow to manage the airline was pumped in by the Treasury. The balance sheet tells the rest and the resultant accumulated loss for the period from 2008 to 2015 is Rs 128 Billion. The amount would have gone up by another couple of billions to date (Rs 10 Billion plus to cancel the unwanted Airbus 350 deal due to economically untenable on a functional business model. Another few Airbus 330s’ ordered was released to another airline due non viability as best option to minimize potential loss. A Swiss inquiry into Airbus Consortium’s ethical practices may reveal some beneficiaries who benefitted under the table!!!!)

Total earnings to GOSL: from Emirates partnership – from 1998 to 2008 – Rs 12.7 Billion. Total Loss to GOSL: Rajapaksa era management – from 2008 to 2015 – Rs 128 Billion.
***NB Excludes operational loss from 2015 to date and cancellation of Airbus order.

On reading the Daily FT article, it appeared that GR was advising the “Professionals of the future’ emphasizing the fact that one should not listen to the ill gotten advise given by some ‘fools’ (in this case pilots) who make the rulers ‘bloody fools’ . But, further reading into it appears he is still listening to a pilot (a guy who must be in a default setting with the current airline management). Quote “When I met this pilot recently he said that every aviator values an alternative aerodrome. He also said that even though the union had recommended to SriLankans’ board that the Mattala International Airport be used as an alternative during the period the BIA was undergoing repair it was not happening simply because the present Government wanted to prove that Mattala was an unwanted investment and a white elephant.”

I would like to respectfully advise GR, these pilots have lot of dreams and they have time for such dreams. They earn a mean of USD 7000 a month whilst the wage earner in Sri Lanka earns an average around USD 100 a month. They are the highest paid government servants as they were paid by the public from 2008. The ‘loss’ their advice cost the nation amounts to Rs 128 Billion as at 2015. Now they have the audacity to give their foolish mind again. Mattala Airport is absolutely a white elephant. No one constructs airfields and go in search of activities to make it operational. The government is struggling to do even the basic maintenance and it has now been tasked with debt servicing of Rs 20 Billion of Chinese loans. World over runways are upgraded reducing operational hours for a limited period. Only ‘fools’ and ‘bloody fools’ make this an excuse to cover their sins for building a runway for peacocks!! (Hope, we won’t now hear a MS International Airport in Polonnaruwa now.)

The address by GR to the ‘Professionals of the future’ will be beneficial at least in this sense. An aspirant who intends to become a ruler should have a level of minimum intelligence to differentiate wise advice from those coming from fools. Professionals must demand current rulers who made the foolish decision be made accountable: It is the common man’s money. Pilots who earn in USD do not understand the cost of these colossal blunders. One thing is certain those who gave these pseudo advices are not professionals. They will lick anyone’s back to attain momentary ecstasy of rubbing shoulders with bloody fools. They are traitors of the highest order who ruin the socio economic landscape of the nation whilst living in a lap of luxury.

Fools and Bloody fools made country to lose around Rs 200 Billion due to the above two decisions. A good eye opener for the ‘Professionals of the future’ – Don’t be fooled. May ‘Viyathmaga’ group come to the forefront to challenge such bloody fools, may it be from UNP or SLFP.

To hell with the new constitution. To hell with the economic development.

If Sirisena and Ranil do not successfully – or even – prosecute the Rajapakses they would have achieved/accomplished nothing.

Rajapakses had more courage and gumption to do wrong and unspeakable crimes than Sirisena and Ranil have to do right/justice.

Rajapakses’ would have not allowed anyone to do what they are doing now. As Janaka Perera, Fonseka, ……… and many other victims would testify – well, if they could.

In no other country would the Rajapakses be given all the luxuries, privileges and security to run a rival/alternate government and cause daily disruptions.

It’s our fate that we have ended up with two weak – for the price of one – namby-pamby, sissy, weak girlie-men as leaders.

When I see Ranil speak with that courage-less, weak voice and tries to joke around, I feel like smashing his face in to a bloody pulp. Listen to the interview he gave in Indonesia; he is not going to prosecute anyone. You don’t have to live in hope for 5 years to find out; come to terms with it right now.

Ranil is the biggest courage-less, weak piece of dog turd that SL has ever produced.

I’ve never come across anyone like him anywhere in the world. Sirisena has slowly come to realise it now and is trying to save his own skin by cozing up to the Rajapakses.

The curse of SL is, our worst enemies are born in our own country!

And it’s proved to us every day of our existence.

The great political nous of the Rajapakses is, that they have made us hate Sirisens/Ranil even more than the Rajapakses, for not bringing them to justice!

      Try and beat that!

I simply believe those who invite GOTA to addree in this forum are fools.

Had they been well aware of the facts about REAL GOTA -since he returned from US – they would not have invited him except for barbaric, devious, anti-human activities.

We can’t vouch for it, however, didn’t he rob VP’s loot which belongs to Northerners?

Did you help Gota to dispose the stolen gold somewhere in Colombo, for market price? Please confirm.

MAX: Surely, Gota and his men may most likely have molested you since you have alaways been protecting them – being that servile.

Give us any single reason you to continue your abnormal behaviour this way ? I dont think you need them for survival as is the case with thousands of their men across the country.

It is upto you to explain the truth to us let alone today. Else, I really dont know why you cant feel free when expressing your thoughts.

Who is this 7/11 Gota? Gota landed here from the US after MR became president. With his Military background he was appointed Def. Sec. Thereafter with the backing he received from his old colleagues like Sarath Fonseka the war machinery was taken over. First thing he did was a Private Company Lanka Logistics Pvt. Ltd. was floated and the import of Arms was taken over completely. It was then that the MIGs were purchased along with the purchase of arms. After a while it was speculated that Gota had inflated the payments for the MIGs running in to millions of dollars, which he denied. Then Lasantha Wickrematunge published letters exchanged between Gota and Udayange Weeratunge who was the Ambassador for Russia regarding the purchase of the MIGs. Then LW was murdered in broad day light in the High Security Zone close to the Air Force Camp at Ratmalana. Both Gota and Udayanga Weeratunge were wondering as to how LW got the copies of the letters they had exchanged for him to publish in the Sunday Leader. Their investigations narrowed down to the Business partner cum Cook/Driver of Udayanga Weeratunge. This man was then killed and was staged as an accident victim. His body was brought down and the sealed coffin was buried. They could not cremate him as it was stated the victim had died of an accident. Later the body was exhumed but nothing has been mentioned so far. Then Prageeth Eknaligoda was kidnapped and killed yet again with Gota’s involvement. So many further murders of journalists and cases of assault points to Gota. Thereafter Gota filed action against the Sunday Leader where the case was heard in private barring the media. Sunday Leader changed hands and was bought over by Asanga Seneviratne. When they were about to mop up the case to exonerate Gota of the mig deal, the MR govt collapsed. The case concluded discharging Gota and the Sunday Leader agreeing to publish an apology. This was done in small print. If MR had returned the case would have been splashed on the headlines. Does this bugger Gota seriously believe that he can be projected as an Innocent, Honest individual through media publicity? Today the bugger is like the cat that shat on the rock, trying to cover his misdeeds thinking he could bluff the masses. As revealed above he is not an intelligent business person either. He has been only a Crook who has swindled State Funds running in to billions of Rupees. Take the case of Avant Guard security where they had traded arms to world terrorists obviously as agents for the CIA and the US nor the UN has asked not a single question about to whom weapons were sold, lest the American connection gets exposed. Further no action been taken by Mathri and Ranil against Gota with so much circumstantial evidence of Murder and Fraud, one tends to suspect whether the US is arm twisting the PM and the President. As for Wijedasa Rajapaksa who has openly stated that he will not allow Gota to be arrested till he holds office, is obviously paid off by Rajapaksa handsomely. Though Wijedasa Rajapaksa is openly lamenting that he is loosing a million a month due to him holding Ministry Office, I believe he is adequately reimbursed by the Rajapaksas that he would never have dreamt of earning so much in this life. It is this Megalomaniac/Fraud Gota who is held in high esteem by some of the Rajapaksa supporters as an Honest, Capable individual whom they believe would become the future leader of this country. This cesspit of Corruption who is also a ruthless Murderer should not be tolerated anywhere near the Parliament or President’s House. He should die a slow death for the crimes he has committed to repent for what he has done.

It was GR who made SF commander. So get your facts straight. SF was desperately seeking an extension to his term. His old colleague and fellow Sinhala Nationalist GR came back to help MR in his election campaign. So did the darkhorse Tea Trader Jaliya and his brother Prasanna; both were rewarded amply. But it was GR who was made Secy of Def and got SF appointed. SF and he were tight until SF’s political ambitious were deemed a threat. His son in law made lots of money with contracts to the Army. The Lasantha murder is covered up for many reasons. The Keith N attack is covered up for many reasons.

GR sent 2 commandos to protect SF’s family house in the USA. SF tried so hard and CBK was a fool not to give him the extension and not to use him to defeat Tigers.

SF was the best tactical commander SLA had and if CBK listened to him she could have used him to beat the tigers before that and won people’s respect. Instead, she did not trust SF and undercut him and did not give him his extension. It was only in 2010 out of expediency she endorsed him to get her revenge on MR. SF remains one of the most brilliant military men but he is egocentric and his ego is worse than General Patton’s.

        1

Now again you guys being buddied to Gota, but continue saying good of SF ? I think SF has made it clear very clear, that CBK promised him to be the next AC after then one. If SF is right, I still beleive he is the most honest among all – he never attacked CBK for not having been appointed him as AC. He even priased that CBK s days were the days that the Army bought all sophisticated weapons to go for the war. But her successor ballige putha and the made media units spread it as if he andhis brother were the heros. Whoever whatever being said and done, those who directly mediated in the war are the ones who shold know it better. Those soldiers reveal it more today, the credit that greedily grabed by Rajapakshes were no means credible.
So your thoughts above contracts itself.

        Gopinath,

The post I made about Gota, is because the above article is reference Gota and not about SF. Then what are you blabbering asking me to get my facts straight? SF is no angel but a villain himself and party to the misdeeds committed under MR rule, although he has fallen out with the Rajapaksas, does not make him a saint today. During the so called war from Jan 2008 to May 2009 on two instances, the Rajapaksas had great doubts about SF of a Coup, once when MR’s security had been changed when MR had gone abroad and the other importing over hundred Saladin Cars, which were not suitable for rough terrain but for town movement. So the Rajapaksas no sooner the war ended got rid of SF. However SF was part and parcel of the War hoax carried out by MR, which gullibles like you believe that they defeated the LTTE.

For your information MR, VP, KP, GR, BR, SF et all, were all backed by the World players US, UK, India to liquidate VP and make MR the war hero. As the first step they got the assistance of VP to get MR elected as President. Unfortunately for VP, he did not know that he was used as a pawn in this War Game. The game plan was for VP to close the Mawilaru annicut to draw the Govt Forces for an open War and for VP to concede land mass held by the LTTE to the Govt Forces, and for both sides to hype a propaganda war for the consumption of the gullible masses. VP did exactly that, burying all the heavy artillery and stocks of ammunition that were displayed at the BMICH at the Deyata Kirula Exhibition and retreated to Kilinochchi the strong hold of the LTTE. The plan to lure VP out of Kilinochchi, MR had the backing of the very forces that helped in the drama. A couple of ships were berthed just outside the Eastern waters to give the impression to VP that the rescue mission was on tract. Then it was speculated by the MR govt that certain foreign powers were trying to save VP and also trying to stop the war. It was only then that VP abandoned Kilinochchi and moved to Puthukudiirippu with his LTTE cadre of around a forty thousand and a Tamil civilian population of around three hundred thousand. After moving in to Puthukudiirippu, although it was hyped that the LTTE was killing the Tamil civilians, allowed all the civilians to wade across the Nandhikadal lagoon to the mainland under the Forces control. During this time VP in order to take the heat off him for the public to believe that VP had been killed in battle staged a look alike, killed by VP himself with an axe blow was dumped for the Forces to recover and market for public record. Once all the civilians had left only VP and around a forty thousand LTTE cadre remained who were to surrender. VP expected to be ferried to a ship but for his dismay the ships had taken off leaving him behind. Thereafter there was an onslaught by air and the rest were rounded up and shot in cold blood. It was the memorabilia taken by the soldiers that ended up with Channel 4.

If you have a rational mind ask yourself why the LTTE closed the Mawilaru annicut, if not to draw the Forces to an open war? Then why did they bury all their heavy artillery along with a large stock of ammunition if they were not ready to fight? If as you believe there was infact a war, why did the LTTE abandon their strong hold Killinochchi that should have been the final battle field? Imagine the LTTE making forays in the Capital Colombo High Security Zone with absolute precision gives up abandoning their strong hold Kilinochchi and assembling on a beach front with no cover?

So you believe that SF is a brilliant war strategist? Or is Gota Too?

You need heroes for your own existence.

Look this country is replete with heroes, real or imagined, from Vijaya, Dutta Gamani, ….. DS Senanayake, SWRD Banda, Siri Mao, …… Gota, SF, MR, to Ganasara, …

Hindian’s started the war in early 2009 against LTTE. The rest is history. .

MR, GR, SF, …… played their part in this so called war drama, scripted by Hindians. Nothing more nothing less.

        You disappoint me.

I think senior Army men at the time LW was murdered should be well aware of the facts behind the murder plot.
This was not the single incident of that kind – even if the leader EDITORs became known to everyone across the country and ICs too.

What was the fairy tale behind the person who lately stragulated himself leaving a note him to be the person to have shot at LW – asking in that letter itself to release one of the intelligence army man in the custody by the time the said person took his life – a father reported to be senior man in army but retired to thisday- a single father of 3 …

And the note left by the person commited suicide that way was invetsigated but about the hand writing nobody was able to prove. why ?

Most likely, Gota could be behind the murder of the latest victimized father- may have narrated a new story – having promised more funds if he would commit suicide.

In order to cover a murder, tehy have been on a plot to take an another life. The retired person is said to have an another inncient person… about whom the media is not even talking further.. I hate this seems to extend again and again.

Gamini, Very fascinating and interesting. I think you either served in National intelligence bureau in SL or were connected to an international organisation of intelligence matters like CIA. Now there are few cases against GOTA in the courts for various allegations and I would like to invite you to come and give evidence against him. Or file new charges against with newly found evidences.

I have a few question for you? I hope you’ll answer.
1.According to you Gota was the so influential, so powerful Defence Secretary before 2015 in SL. So why did he fail to forsee the MR’s defeat just before MR went for Presidential election? Did his spy guys gave him false reports and misguided him?

      2. Why did Gota let MR to held Presidential election taking the risk of unavoidable judicial action against them if they lose election , because he and his brother’s involved [according to you] in many corruptions and murders etc..?

3.Why did not Gota threaten election commissioner to change the results. Or why did not he prevent north and eastern parts of voters cast their ballot [knowing that majority of minority votes going for My3.]? Why did not he rob the north east votes or at least disrupt voting by using army? According to you he can do whatever he wish at that time. He is so much influential person.

      4. Why did not he try to take power just before the results announced [Knowing that he is definetely get arrested for his corruption and murders according to you]? If I were the Gota and if I did corruption and mass murders and I’m the most powerful defence secretary, I never allow my enemies to take power. I somehow disrupt the election in North and east by blasting few bombs and killing hundreds of people. And I blasted a bomb in front of election dept. and if a need arise I’ll kill election commissioner. And then I take over the country and rule the country. So why did not it happened Gamini?

      5. So if Gota is still so influential to pressure present government President ,ministers and government officials, I would like to say that he is the real unofficial President in this country. I know the majority of Srilankans and myself counting the days about it happen. But you guys also unofficially believes that he is the unofficial President of SL?

If you answer these questions, I think your attitude or way of thinking might change.

Gamini is a intelligent and rational person. He does not suffer from paranoia.

        1. It is because “arrogance of absolute power”

        2. MR’s astrologer Sumanadasa Abeygunawardena gave him the blue light.

        3. Again arrogance of power, probably he was complacent about his brother’s (clan) popularity.

        4. Perhaps there were other reasons, best left unsaid.

        5. He was and is the Mafia enforcer, albeit with much reduced muscle.

        rana,

One need not be a rocket scientist to figure out what I have stated. It is just common sense, which unfortunately majority Sri Lankans lack very badly. If one used their intuitive knowledge they could have easily seen through the bluff of the Rajapaksas, together with VP fooled the people. The only thing is MR with outside help and also with help from within the LTTE of the KP faction managed to liquidate the VP faction. That is all and not the entire LTTE. KP’s arrival soon after VP was killed, mind you not the publicity stunt, was projected as being abducted when really KP was escorted by our security for VIP treatment after his arrival.

        To answer your queries
        1. Gota would have been powerful but not that intelligent. He was foolishly arrogant. He like MR believed that they would be returned.
        2. Foolish arrogance led them to believe they were invincible. Besides they thought they had convinced the majority that Ranil had lost 29 staggered elections and he was no match. They never bargained for a Joint candidate and worst of all the Party’s Gen. Sec.
        3. Judging from the largely attended meetings and the display of the larger than life size cut outs of MR and the fulfilled projects displayed all over the country, they seriously believed they would win
        4. Yes they assessed the possibility of what you mention but was advised strongly by US and India. The defeat was too much of a shock that sent the Rajapaksas reeling.
        5. I do not know about you, but whoever who voted against MR will never vote for him again. So there is no chance of their return. True the masses are a little disgruntled at the moment due to the Yahapalana Govt not taking them to task applying the Laws of the land. However things will turn out otherwise by 2020. If Ranil’s strategy worked to unseat MR, surely he is no fool to leave room for MR or Gota to return. The bulk of support Maithri S. to get elected was from the UNP vote bank.

Gamini, Except you trying to criticise Gota’s arrogance and or trying in vain to prove that he is not intelligent, you did not answer my questions. And Gota proved that he is an intelligent person. Let me tell you one thing. Gota vehemently opposed his brother going for an early election in 2015. He knew that close friends of MR [Some minister’s and MP’s] going to betray MR in the election. And he adviced his brother. But Basil’s assumptions and observations as well as astrologer’s bullshit subdued Gota’s protest. That was what happened.

Yes maybe you do not know about me. But I’ve been writing to this web column since this started and previously to the DBSJ column too. You can witness who’s and whom going to vote for MR in next March or so when they held elections for the Town councils etc..wait until that day.

            rana,

I am afraid, although you claim to be a contributor to CT and DBSJ another sycophant of MR like the Editor of Asia Tribune, fail to understand the basic that arrogance stems from ignorance.

Dayan Jayathilake also built up hope after the Nugegoda man to unseat Ranil from govt at the last General Election. But what happened? Yes keep on dreaming about the PC elections to come next year, believing Gota will be elected. FAT HOPES!

RE: Gota’s Address To The Professionals On How Fools Made The Rulers Bloody Fools

    1. //”The country benefitted and filled its coffers with the 57% of GOSL share holding amounting to a tune of 5.27 Billion. It should be noted that during this partnership of 10 year period from 1998 to 2008 with Emirates. GOSL did not dole out a single cent to the airline.”//

    2. //”Then we come to post 2008 when GOSL took full control and managed the airline on the advice of some pilots to GR and later to his brother MR. The cash flow to manage the airline was pumped in by the Treasury. The balance sheet tells the rest and the resultant accumulated loss for the period from 2008 to 2015 is Rs 128 Billion. “//

    3. //”Total earnings to GOSL: from Emirates partnership – from 1998 to 2008 – Rs 12.7 Billion. Total Loss to GOSL: Rajapaksa era management – from 2008 to 2015 – Rs 128 Billion.
***NB Excludes operational loss from 2015 to date and cancellation of Airbus order.”//

4.//”On reading the Daily FT article, it appeared that GR was advising the “Professionals of the future’ emphasizing the fact that one should not listen to the ill gotten advise given by some ‘fools’ (in this case pilots) who make the rulers ‘bloody fools’ .”//

RE: Gota’s Address To The Professionals On How Fools Made The Rulers Bloody Fools

    Bloody Fools are getting caught…

Gota. Gota, Gotabel, and Gota’s Son’s Expenses… Through the Vines…Bulath, Vettila and Grape….

Foreign Ministry Funds Amounting to Rs 399 Miillion Used for House Rent and Expenses of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s son in Los Angeles for 21 Months…

Serious financial irregularities had taken place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the previous government, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera told Parliament yesterday.

Samaraweera said that among them was the acquisition of a house on rent in Los Angeles for the use of former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapksa’s son. He said there was not even a Sri Lankan Consul General in that city. During the stay of the former Defence Secretary’s son two army men had been deployed there for his security.

The ministry had paid the rent for one year and nine months for the house. More than Rs. 399 million had been paid from the ministry funds to cover the expenses and those funds had been sent abroad through Sajin Vass Gunawardena.

About Rs 2.3 billion had been spent for the former President and his family members by the ministry for his visits abroad from 2012 to 2014, the minister said.

Minister Samaraweera said the former President had paid a foreign company to draft his speeches delivered abroad.

JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti asked the government to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate those irregularities.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the government would appoint a PSC with special powers to probe the frauds and corruption that had taken place at the Foreign Ministry under the previous regime.

“Winning General. Enforcer. Town planner extraordinaire.”

You missed one more accolade, the National Hangman.

“NOW, expert on Airline management. Is there no limit to his talents?”

It is only because he needed to transport his puppy from Italy.

It seems there is no end to Gota Hatana

“If yahapalanaya flight crash lands, then GOTA will be our shining white knight in armour, determined to rescue the Good Ship Lanka.”

He should have thought about it before his clan and cronies torpedoed the Good ship.

    Dear Arun Kumaresan ,
You have proved by your honest and sincere write up that you not only represent the two names Arun & Kumaresan and practice the real meanings of the 2 words in Tamil,Pali & Sanskirit I guess in Sinhalese too.

Arun means lord Suriya or dawn of a day or charioteer of Solar Diety.

Kumaresan means kind / brave / intelectual/ destroyer of evil. Also means Kataragama Deiyo.

Your message has to be conveyed to the majority of the majority who are beholden to the SLFP or the UNP because of the dishonest politics by these 2 parties since 1947.

CT has an urgent job to do. Get it translated into Sinhalese and post it.

“So it was Gota the architect of the destruction of Sri Lanka airlines, from a popular and proft making organization managed by Emirates to a family run, taxi service for Rajapakshas managed by one of its cronies, making the airline to an unpopular loss making buffalo cart.”

The MR clan has every right to use the state assets as their own, the clan earned it.

The clan is the one which taught the Demelas a lesson which they will never forget. The clan is the one which seriously took on the LTTE and destroyed it single handedly with out a shot being fired at innocent civilian.

      Aren’t you grateful to Gota?

In fact he liberated the island, and he is entitled to a share of the state assets. He used it as it rightfully belongs to him. You are worried because he refused to share the assets with you.

      What is your problem?

He is a hero to the majority of Sri Lankans, including me, when it comes to dealing with terrorists and their lovers like you? But when it comes to managing national assets rogues remain rogues. It is said that to deal with a villain like VP, one needs similar villains. He will always be welcomed in my house for his stand against terrorists, but what needs to be said about other things must be said.

BTW why you are always hanging on to other people’s coat tails or grass skirts of kala weddas. Have n’t you got an initiative of your own to make an original comment?

“BTW why you are always hanging on to other people’s coat tails or grass skirts of kala weddas.”

          What is kala veddas?

“Have n’t you got an initiative of your own to make an original comment?”

What do you think? By the way CT is supposed to be free forum where commentators can say what they want to say, when they want and where they want to say, provided they comply by the rules.

Why should my comments bother you?

Tell me what has been your original comment that was completely new, fresh, stimulating, …. that others haven’t made in this forum. If you had original ideas by now you would have been a very rich person or a famous artist – your artistic talents starts and ends here “He is a hero to the majority of Sri Lankans, including me, when it comes to dealing with terrorists and their lovers like you?”

I see no originality in terms of substance or form.

“It is said that to deal with a villain like VP, one needs similar villains.”

Even this is not an original quote from you. Whoever said it they ought to learn what the awakened one said “To undertake the training to avoid taking the life of beings.”. You should learn to value teaching Buddha than any Tom, Dick and Harry.

“He will always be welcomed in my house for his stand against terrorists, but what needs to be said about other things must be said.”

Make sure you keep your valuables where he could reach when you invite him into your home because he had not only earned the right to steal but also learnt how to dodge the law. All because the mad hangman killed more Demalas than any other previous leaders and still being a nightmare for Muslims. Hence you have reserved a special place in your heart for the war criminal.

The national hangman is still dodging the law. When push comes to shove, I am sure he can rely on your patriotism. He has a place to hide, probably behind your grandma.

Remind me where was he when IPKF invaded this island? Was he hiding behind VP’s bump?

Those NEwspapers were dihonest I think, IF it was a 40% -60% partnership with Emirates air lines, it was a good contract. So, the termination of the contract was a bad dscision.

Once MR took over he appointed his womanizer brother in Law who was Tea estate supirintendent. that become most stupid. then there were other people who were unemployed in the USA directly came to Sri lanka mange the airline without any experience.

Even todate, management may be in the same preduicament and that is their focus is to clean the air line and leave it to junk after some time. they may not be working hard to make it profitable.

If a city state Singapore could make a profitable airline, why Sri lanka can not make one such air line.

It looks sri lankan people are very indisciplined, only greed , very lazy, there are no competent managers. If not managers can not take drastic decisions because the trade union is always behind the politician and the politicians tries to run the whole country.

After this address by GOTA – (dreaming to be the next President), that audience must have had a good shot of “Pol Arrack” or perhaps “Whisky” provided by the “Professional” (GOTA) and had a rollicking time reminding themselves of what they heard. That “Pilot” union must be the one headed by the one who operated a flight to bring a “Lap Dog” for GOTA’s wife. I wonder why he (GOTA) did not present the ex Chairman, the Brother-in-Law of his own brother the ex President and a planter turned “Aviation Expert” who even could not obtain a pass in GCE (O) Level and headed the National Carrier and burdened the country with a debt load of 30 billions. Did those “Professionals for the Future” have any opportunity to raise “Questions” from the “Renowned” speaker? If that opportunity was granted, it would have been a “Miracle”. Professional for the Future also must have had “Night Mares” after listening to that “Professional” address and we would like to hear from them. Please give your responses. Thank you.

The future of Inhabitant Professionals, Sinhalese from the rural sector in particular, are doomed under Batalanda Ranil’s Yahapalana Rule.

Sinhala Pilots driving planes in Srilankan better look for jobs right now at least in no frills Budget Air , if they want to keep driving.

Because the Yahapalana Cabinet is interviewing three Private Investment Funds who want to buy Srilankan.

People who know at least bit, about International Investments , Acquisitions and Mergers, would know that these Funds are asset Strippers.

They normally do not buy Airlines because of that reason.

Unless Batalanada has absorbed all the debt, for the PAYE Yahapalana Tax payers to pay, along side the 14.8 percent plus the LKR 20 Billion to FIL & SIL Investors..

When ETCA kicks in, even our Bus Drivers whom I would call semi Professionals would’t be safe.

Wonder whether Yahapalana Malik in the Cabine Committee which is interviewing the Asset Strippers.

Sri lankan govt can not run anything because politicians become advisors and their family members and henchmen become Top managers. So, the ultimate result is losing money.

the best thing is privatize it.

I don’t think rural people become pilots. Those positions are always for people with connections.

AVM Arun has given a vivid details of the contract with Emirates and
the finances involved, though in a hoty language. It appears that the
contract between Emirates and Sri Lankan was working and paying divi
-dends when the agreement was abrogated abruptly. It is doubtful that the Pilot Guild at that time recommended termination of the agreement
at a time Sri Lankan was picking up profits slowly but steadily and
it is possible that some disgruntled pilots with a grudge on Emirates would have spoken out of turn and more over Pilot Guild of an airline
cannot recommend termination of a contract as they are not experts in
Marketing. It is the board of Directors and the minister should decide.

The current Govt.did the feasibility study to get the Mattala airport
working again but aviation experts pointed out some serious flaws in the direction the runway was constructed as strong cross winds flow across the runway and the force of the winds could turn the aircraft upside down as explained by local expert Capt.Elmo Jayawarndena and more over there is heavy movement of wild animals crossing the runway
from the forest and it may be argued that it could be stopped if the airport is fenced, which is not easy and costly and unusual number of birds flock here and could strike aircraft engines. It is claimed that the govt. refused, for political reason, to use the Mattala airport during the period BIA runway was/is being resurfaced but the actual fact was that aviation authorities could not have convinced the foreign
airlines to use Mattala airport, which is under above hazards.

Must say that the govt.did their best to make Mattala airport working again and be a profitable venture but there were no takers. Mattala airport is still maintained at high cost as an alternate airport to permit landing of aircraft in distress situation. So, there is no politics involved here but wrong planning was the cause of this massive failure of this white elephant.

    Well said!

It was arrogant and stupid decision to take over the management from emirates, They were doing a wonderful job!

“Mattala International Airport be used as an alternative during the period the BIA was undergoing repair it was not happening simply because the present Government wanted to prove that Mattala was an unwanted investment and a white elephant”

This is a great opportunity to open up this air port and probably run both of them in parallel, I do not understand these rulers?

What a disgraceful move to discredit Pilots. Anyone who has common sense knows that Pilots had no hand in advising tin Airline management or the development of Mattala. The Pilots union has always been critical about how the succesive managements including the Rajapakse’s abused the airline. You don’t need Pilots when you have idiots like Gota and his family.
Last but not least if the Pilots had so much infuence they won’t be working for USD 7000 when market rate is 15000USD. I’m also seeing that this article is aimed at falsely associating the Pilots to Gota for some ulterior motive.
Any fool reading your article would see the hidden agenda of attacking Pilots.

It is Gota who linked the pilots for the blunders in his speech. May be he was trying the white wash Rajapaksa’s on these foolish decisions at the by putting the blame on pilots, they only advised us. Poor pilots.Facts in the article is very revealing.Find the pilot who advises Gota not to tarnish the image of pilots.
