How To & How Not To Fight Future Fascism

By Dayan Jayatilleka

Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka

Dr. Deepika Udagama’s father, Dr. Premadasa Udagama, and my uncle, Prof Ebert Fernando, were not only neighbors but much more importantly, the core members of the pro-SLFP, pro-Left caucus of academics at Peradeniya in the run-up to the 1970s elections. Dr. Udagama, an educationist, became the Secretary to the Ministry of Education during the Prime Ministership of Madam Bandaranaike and piloted the controversial policies of standardization (of which I was critical even at the time), while my uncle (my father’s step-sister Lalitha’s husband) became the Vice-Chancellor of Peradeniya and the official translator of the 1972 Republican Constitution.

Wishing Deepika well as she left home for Berkeley, I would have been unsurprised to learn that she would be Head of Law at Peradeniya and a worthy Chairperson of Sri Lanka’s Human Rights Commission –and here I write as a former (elected) Vice–President of the UN Human Rights Council. But I would have been shocked to know that she would be publicly threatened with legalized execution by a stalwart of a probable Presidential candidate of the anti-UNP Opposition; a candidate from a leading SLFP family.

While it is good that two statements appeared, that of the Friday Forum and the 54 University academics, exposing and denouncing the lethal threat, it is bitterly ironic that neither statement denouncing this murderous, fascistic threat, nor an adding up of the signatories to the two statements, contains as many signatures of academics and civil society activists as did the statement to the Parliamentary High Posts Committee calling for the withdrawal of my nomination as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Russia! That itself shows the abysmal and pathetic character of today’s liberal academic and civil society intelligentsia. However, my parents did not bring me up to gloat over the  blunders of my critics and opponents, petty and venal (not mention downright ungrateful) as those opponents might be, but to stand against that which is wrong, and be counted to do the right thing—in short, to be a gentleman.

Speaking of which, what do you call a man who makes lethal threats against an unarmed woman? An “Officer and a Gentleman”? Or a fascist? What do you call a man who is a public personality, who makes such threats on the public record? What do you call a man who makes such threats on the public record against a woman who is not only a professor of law but the Chairperson of Sri Lanka’s Human Rights Commission?

What do you call a potential Presidential candidate who either doesn’t shut this man up or, if that fails, keep a conspicuous distance from him and instead has him on the platform or in the front row?

What do you call a situation in which leading Opposition member and former Head of Law, Prof GL Peiris has not seen fit to condemn this threat against a former junior colleague, and instead is seen seated next to the person who made such threats at public gatherings and strives to include him in Pohottuwa-driven events?

The model of the Sinhala Alt-Right is by no stretch of the imagination anything remotely like the model of Vladimir Putin; on the contrary, it is the policy of Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Worse, it is the policy of those elements in Central and Eastern Europe (e.g. those armed subversive elements in Kiev’s Maidan) who have upended history and morality, applauded Nazism and denigrated the Red Army as well as its own heroic national partisan traditions of anti-fascist resistance.

No country celebrates the victory over Hitlerite fascism as does Russia, on May 9th each year. It is not simply because that was the defeat of an invading army—if that were the case, Russia would celebrate with equal pomp the defeat of Napoleon’s invading armies. Russia celebrates May 9th 1945 precisely because it was victory against Fascism, and marks the pre-eminent contribution of Russia and its Red Army to saving the whole world, including the Western liberal democracies, from the very worst political evil that history ever produced.

The recent local reference to Hitler didn’t come out of nowhere nor was it a mere slip of the tongue. A dark dirty secret of the Sinhala-Buddhist Far Right is that back in the 1930s and 40s, it had a soft spot for Hitler and the Japanese militarists, just at the time that Asian anti-imperialist giants such as Mao and Ho Chi Minh, and their counterparts in Malaysia and the Philippines, were spearheading the anti-Japanese resistance war, even cooperating temporarily with their erstwhile domestic enemies and Western colonial powers. It is all a question of values.

In a historical situation, local and national, in which populist change is irresistible, the worst option is entrenchment in an obsolescent, crumbling status quo. If the US Democrats had got behind Bernie Sanders instead of sticking with the neoliberal globalist agenda and candidate, the change that inevitably came would have been of a drastically different sort—as New Zealand made earlier, Mexico has just made and the UK is poised to. It is those who chose to tilt against Bernie Sanders who are responsible for the global Alt Right tides that have even reached and energized their counterparts in Sri Lanka. The lessons must be learned here.

Those who wish to avoid a fascist future cannot remain passive or plug for their ideological comfort zone, the status quo. (I notice that the hundred signatories against me are those who adhere to the triadic policy of federalism, neoliberal economic reforms and wartime accountability with foreign participation!) Liberal statements alone won’t do. As the Uruguayans used to say “no sheep ever escaped slaughter by bleating”.

Prof Kumar David’s Sunday sermons notwithstanding, liberal cosmopolitanism and a neoliberal-left alliance cannot even begin to countervail let alone stop the rising Sinhala Alt-Right tide. Almost as infantile in these dangerous times in which the highest stakes are involved, is an undifferentiated, frontal, moralistic “Stop all the Rajapaksas” slogan– which could have the remotest relevance and resonance only if the UNP shifts to a 1988 type patriotic-populist candidacy.

Only a progressive, patriotic populism, rooted in and resonant among the Sinhala masses, especially the peasantry, can stop or retard the Fascist tide. In world history Fascism was effectively fought only by a broad Popular Front at national and international levels, and in Asia, this meant peasant-based movements, carrying the banners of national liberation and rural reform.

In the absence of such a Movement, serious responses have to rely on the basic concepts of politics proper: the balance of power, the working on/ working out of internal contradictions and the identification of the lesser evil (for the latter, see Michael Ignatieff, ‘The Lesser Evil: Political Ethics in an Age of Terror—The Gifford Lectures’ Edinburgh University Press).

In the context of the discussion on Fascism, I recall a conversation in the summer of 1985 in Moscow. In 1985 the World Festival of Youth and Students was addressed by two old time revolutionary heroes. One was Miguel Marmol, a leader of the 1933 communist uprising in El Salvador led by the iconic Farabundo Marti. The other was Kurt Julius Goldstein, German Jewish Communist, veteran of the Spanish Civil War, survivor of Auschwitz and Buchenwald as well as the notorious ‘Death March’, and the head of the World Federation of Anti-Fascist Resistance Fighters. My extended conversation with Goldstein was two years after July ’83 and I asked him what the main lessons were that he drew from his experiences and those of his heroic comrades. I asked him the main mistakes the antifascists of the 1930s made, the mistakes that he would not repeat if he were put on a time machine. I recorded his answer in the Lanka Guardian of that time.

He said that the biggest error the Left made was to confuse nationalism, chauvinism and fascism: “we should have united with nationalism, even chauvinism, to fight fascism; instead of which we treated them as all the same”. He said– and I published it at the time– that they, the Left of that day, confused nationalism, populism and chauvinism with fascism, and that they should have differentiated between these and fascism, adopting a strategy of uniting or working with all those diverse (even unsavory) elements of an anti-status quo orientation who could be united, neutralizing those who could not, and identifying, isolating and targeting the fascists. He said the Left was insensitive to the grievances of those misguided social forces and did not know how to approach them– which opened the space for fascist appeals to resonate and monopolize. I believe the same mistakes should not be repeated today. One must not fail to grapple with, and adopt a new approach, to the phenomena of nationalism and patriotism, including Sinhala nationalism and patriotism.

As with European nationalism of the 1920s and 1930s, so also with Sinhala –and Sinhala Buddhist– nationalism. Sinhala-Buddhism as such is too old, rooted, broad and organic to be frontally confronted and ruptured with. Instead it must be externally contained and countervailed, and its plasticity recognized, it must be internally reworked, re-calibrated, re-set and re-assembled so as to fairly and justly accommodate multi-ethnicity, multi-religiosity, multilingualism and multiculturalism, i.e. pluralism. The gap between the interests of the Sinhalese, including the Sinhala Buddhists, and the extreme, sectarian versions of Sinhala Buddhism, must be exposed, highlighted and utilized to combat the latter. (This was the strategy of DS Senanayake and Ranasinghe Premadasa. It requires rediscovery and renewal.)

The fight against Sinhala fascism must be waged by and from within the national political mainstream and must resonate with and within it. Sinhala fascism cannot be defeated by frontally opposing Sinhala Buddhism or Sinhala nationalism as such. Nor can it be defeated outside of a national-democratic strategy to build a united Sri Lankan nation and state, resisting external interventionism and Tamil secessionism. This means a patriotic, popular-democratic platform, but may well require the adoption of a populist and patriotic one which includes a nationalist plank. This is no time for faddish pseudo-intellectual posturing from a far left lunatic fringe or deracinated cosmopolitan civil society caucus. The price of failure is the ultimate one.

What matters is the percentage of any kind of vicioius groups rising up in the country.
I think from the day one, this country people had been hoodwinked by so called politicians. Recent past where Rajapakshe governed the country it became even clearer.
Not focusing anything else, but their men were not overlooked in Rajapakshe politics. Villagers that have not the least knowledge about anything were made heroes for Rajapkashe political survivial. People were made blind feeding them with blant lies about their rivals. There, media was like their servants, since they were the uttermost ugly ones not thinking twice, promoted Rjaapakshes.
Today, grass root levels naive people are kept away from the facts about lanken context.
They are just made known that Rajapakshe won the war and developed the country. But none of the realities were not fed to them. Rajapakshe made our place an another chinese colony. Chinese are world champions to abuse other folks for their future long term projects and gains.
Be it a building of a harbor or airport, they thought beyond lanken naive politicians. No matter the interests were high, Rajakashe took unbearable sum of loans LOUDING it was country s development. but over 40% of all the sum is believed and proved to have gone to the HUGE losses.
Why cant the authorties yet make RAJAAKSHEs accoutable for all the mess. He was as a finanice minister should come forward to a debate if HE CAN EVER STAND AGAINST THE ALLEGATIONS levelled at him.
LANKEN PRESIDENT IN POWER today should give OKAY former president to CLEAR the puzzling allegations to the public. That way, MEDIA too can serve the NATION who have been looted over the years.

Before going behind Rajapakse on baseless rumours, the CID must bundle back Mahendran, the biggest bank robber not only in Sri Lanka but in whole of Asia, in and prosecuted.

Next the man who appointed this non-citizen to the job, Ranil Wickremesinghe should be prosecuted. Take Ravi also in. These are the biggest thieves in the political history of Sri Lanka.

Preferably they should be put in the same cell with Susai and Wele Suda. Ranil might like it!

        Well said Buramphisincho.!
Majority of Sinhalese people are still kept in the dark about Mahinda’s motive. It is now very clear that they are fighting each other to become the next president or prime minister. Mahinda wants to give that to his son Namal, Gota wants to be president. Basil is working indirectly to that goal. Chamal thinks why cannot he? the whole world wanted to end the war and LTTE’s military power. Why should the western countries ban LTTE even after LTTE started peace talks? Did China ban LTTE? Why should US give information about arm supply ships to Sri Lanka if they are against Srilanka? Why should India send Viyey Nambiar to Sri Lanka? Why should India kept silence without stopping Srilanka over massacre of Tamils by Sri Lanka forces? Did any of the family member fought in the front line? Did any one of their family or relatives lost their lives to LTTE? Did any one in the family contributed more than Kathirkamar did? Did that war victory bring peace to this country? People need to ask these questions and find out answers? The Nation belongs to its people not to family?

      Sumanawathie,
Your points about “Dr. Ranil & Mallika” carry a certain weight. Noted. However, do we need advice on fascism from a guy (Dayan J Alzheimer), who until recently was heavily backing GOTLER for President? What a joke!
      Cheers!

SRI LANKA is a beautiful country with human resource. Do not blame anyone for downfall of Sri Lanka except racist Tigers and racist Buddhists. Both along with racist politicians payed the way for downfall of Sri Lanka. In 1957 Sri Lanka was far better than Malaysia and today where is it and where is Sri Lanka? In 1963 Sri Lanka was better than Singapore now where is it and where is Sri Lanka? …
what went wrong with Sri Lanka.
    racism?
    bad politics?
    disunity ?
None of Sri Lankan community loves Sri Lanka trulely. In the name of nationalism, many Sinhalese politicians loot the public fund… Ex: MR and co family..
In the name of Tamil nationalism… Many tamil politicians have luxury of life ..
In the name of Muslim nationalism many Muslim politicians loot public money.
All in all, these politicians are robbers and thieves.. Not truely lankans at all.
They may have lankan names. but…
we need a new leader like that of late Pramadasa,, an Iron man to rule Sri lanka ..
He did not loot public money at all.

      Lanken Patriot@

One has to agree with you LET ALONE to some extent, but DJ the like most abusive sort of Sinhalayas would not belong the category of so called sinhala buddhist racists. They are just born to be above the others thinking their idiosyncratic style can bring somethign to this country. Just give me one example what this creature has done to the country since 2009. Nothing, he has been sitting with dogs now more likely be accusing any parties where he think could harvest more for the next term. Bugger could do lot more with his knowledge, not just becuase it is DJ, but as a man who had the chance to go through that far. But just got stagnated to his 4 walls for writing up the kind of articles one behind the other.
Just going by his articles, even 10 year old would see it, the bugger is totally wrong.
He has been working for his pay masters from the day one. Had his beloved father, that won some degree of respect in Bandaranayake days been alive by today, he would permanently be hospitalized not getting what his own behaves. No means we should not work to bring Rajapakshe rascals # come back. They are looters and hood winkers of fine nature. They have sold the country to China as no others. World press explains it very well.

    Dayan
You’re always good at inserting yourself into world events. In an exceptionally creative manner you find ways to link your personal biography to the history of Sri Lanka (and even the world at times). So that you can be a cut above in any discussion – because you were there “where the action was.” Most people outgrow this teen-age coping mechanism and become adults. Obviously some don’t, and it is their problem. But in today’s world gone nuts with political correctness such trumpeting (no pun intended) may be jarring to most ears. Equal validation of all kinds of life experiences is the expected norm. Name-dropping is offensive to most people; it can come across as superficial, in poor taste, and often backfires. Anyway, whatever turns you on.
    .
Now let’s get to the point. You decry what you call the “faddish pseudo-intellectual posturing from a far left lunatic fringe or deracinated cosmopolitan civil society caucus.” And then you come up with your recommendation for fighting Sinhala fascism: “a patriotic, popular-democratic platform, but may well require the adoption of a populist and patriotic one which includes a nationalist plank.” What is this? By the time the ordinary Sri Lankan voters understand this, it may be too late.

“Most people outgrow this teen-age coping mechanism and become adults. Obviously some don’t, and it is their problem.”

      You put it beautifully mate!

The thing is if you ignore his bragging part, the guy does have some bright ideas. He is quite efficient as well. The speed at which he moved at the UN was characteristically “un Sri Lankan” in a good way!
It’s a pity his nauseating bragging and name dropping mask out the message he is trying to bring across and some people miss it completely.

“recommendation for fighting Sinhala fascism: “a patriotic, popular-democratic platform, but may well require the adoption of a populist and patriotic one which includes a nationalist plank.” What is this? By the time the ordinary Sri Lankan voters understand this”

The recommendation is not for ordinary Sri Lankan voter! They would never understand it and there is no need for them to understand it either. To be fair ordinary voters from so called developed world don’t get it either as evident from Trump saga! (and Brexit!)
Rather it is for anybody who is going to challenge upcoming fascism.

“a patriotic, popular-democratic platform, but may well require the adoption of a populist and patriotic one which includes a nationalist plank.”
Definition of above: A government led by Sajith Premadasa, supported by the Sirisena Cooray crowd, for the sole benefit of Killi Maharajah.
Preferably with DJ as Foreign Minister.

Thero shedding two Mahaweli Gangas out of his both eyes not because an Afghani Donkey threatened Deepika, but he want to brag his relationship with Premadasa Udugama. Thero is a Sinhala Buddhist fascist, narcissist and racist guy. His latest is seeking Ranil’s’ Thavani to hid in the munthanai in the light of his new invention of Old Royals’ fascism.

Is there a difference, if you are addict, if is it for Foreign Brandy or Foreign Whiskey or Foreign Vodka? They all burn your lever in similar way. Sinhala Buddhist Nationalism is the basic reason for Indian Pakistani Citizenship acts, the 1956, 1958, 1961,1973,1977,1983 Pogroms, Sinhala Only, MMDA & Standardization. This is practiced by Don Stephen, Solomon West Ridgeway, Sirimavo, Junius Richard and Richard P. In what way it is better or worse than Sinhala Chauvinism, which resisted CV standing as the CC or Tamils go under self-determination? Amit, Dan Priyasad, Mangalarama, Ayatollahs are practicing this. Of cause K. M. P. Rajaratne, Cyril Mathew, Thero De Silva, The Old Royal family and the Afghani Donkey the Rear Admirable Weerakuddy who all practice the Sinhala Fascism. So, now how these people are different from DS, SWRD, JR, Richard .P……All these hard liquors, the Sinhala Buddhist Nationalism, Sinhala Chauvinism and the Sinhala Buddhist Fascism has Burned the bitchy Mother Lankawe’s liver, but she is still addicted to hard liquors and she cannot fix her.

Political waves can bring in the good, the bad and the ugly. DJ is right in sounding warnings about the worst of the triad, the bad. The opposition to the bad should not negate the support for the good. However, if the bad influences the good and leads the triad down a path of authoritarian ruthlessness, then, all patriotic forces may have to forego even the good in such a triad. Then comes the alternative to the triad. The current leader of that alternative is not the person to marshal the forces necessary to beat the triad. They will have to find someone else, if not, whether one likes or not, the triad will be in power soon.

      sinhalese buddhist

“So what will this nationalist populism look like?”

Basically it is the prelude/foreplay to fascism.

      What does populism mean?

      Excerpt:
      …..
      …..
Populism is the rise of the controlled masses against their corrupt leaders. It is anti-establishment and speaks truth to power. Nationalist Populism is anti agenda driven pseudo-academia that attacks our race nation and culture incessantly through our educational institutions. Nationalist Populism is anti Cultural Marxism (anti Political Correctness) and stands up for the native people of the nation that are being targeted for demographic replacement via mass immigration under the false banner of ‘diversity.’ Nationalist Populism champions the white working class underdog who as the world’s true racial minority is having to compete with the world’s majority racial populations not just for space as a result of mass immigration and the transformation of their communities, but also in employment, housing, healthcare, education etc. This is also happening as result of the outsourcing of jobs to the third-world by profit obsessed corporations who are advancing the goals of nation destroying Globalism.

      ..

Can you believe that we have to live through this big MAFIA operation which is aiming all its tools and weapons directed upon the population, twisting the truth, faking the history, with juggernautic words and phrases to drive the noose around our necks by WHITEWASHING the CRIMINALS (Rajapakses) to look as ANGELS. How can you destroy EVIL with an EVIL???? Buddhist Ethno Religious Fascism to fight other Fascism??? Then we have to go back to the origin of the conflict — DS, Banda, Anagarika/Olcott/Blavatsky, Theosophy, Buddhist Revivalism, Master Race, Aryan supremacy, NAZISM, ZIONISM…..etc,etc.

Well, here it goes the reference Dayan makes….I quote: “Kurt Julius Goldstein, German Jewish Communist”. He said that the biggest error the Left made was to confuse nationalism, chauvinism and fascism: “we should have united with nationalism, even chauvinism, to fight fascism; instead of which we treated them as all the same”. end quote……. WE GOTCHA!!!! Its the JEWISH conspiracy again. We all know who DAYAN is. He is the most prominent GATE KEEPER to the GOVIGAMA MAFIA RULING ELITE enterprise which is, with its evil clutches, the lives of everyone who are living in this UNFORTUNATE seized territory they call it as “The UN-Democratic, Anti-Socialist, Pseudo Republic of SRI LANKA”. Communism is a product of the JEWISH ZIONIST FINANCIERS whom were operating from the WALL STREET, NEW YORK axis of evil. Karl Marx, Engels, Lenin and almost 90% of the BOLSHEVIK Top level Comrades were Jewish. Its the Jewish conspiracy that was instrumental in creating all these havocs to create an unstable, chaotic world to make way for the complete JEWISH DOMINATION with their EVIL PROJECT – NWO.

Wont we have to build a nationalism based on what is indigenous including all the people including the native Tamils Muslims and Christians and their values and sentiments instead of including only the Sinhala Buddhists, their values and ideology. The West developed an ideology of nationalism based on the territorial nation as a whole even in plural States like Germany. We should expand our concept of nationalism to the occupants of the present nation say at Independence irrespective of how they came here -whether as conquerors or otherwise. Invasions are common in most nation states but their descendants have not been excluded from the national identity.

We are not worried about this rubbish because of two things.

Firstly, it is Dayan Jayathilakje’s rubbishy writings that have no impact with ultra left, left of the middle, middle, right of the middle, right or ultra right sections of Sri Lankan politics. He has cancelled himself from all those factions because of his unprincipled criss-crossing from one to another for personal reasons. We remember his dalliance with Tamil separatists for ministerial posts too.

Secondly, he is suffering from Premadasa-nostalgia. If his remedy to counter the rising Sinhala Buddhists is what mad-Premadasa did, we welcome it.

Only the desperate Catholics in disguise as bleeding Leftists – like DJ – are worried about this so-called ultra right. Not even the Tamils are worried about it.

DJ, You were always a fraud and you continue to be one Sahodaraya.

In 2009 Thero licked all possibles of Old Royals, from boot to hair. Just like Nugegoda meeting, nothing good came out of it, that time too. He was asked to lead French Embassy. It was the height of the Sinhala Nationalistic, Chauvinistic, Fascism ruling. It was time the war victorious rowdy Royals hoping to run the world by the remittances they get from China.

Thero took the Job and trying to accomplish what was asked him to do in French Embassy. But Sajin destroyed the prospects of Thero. He was many times good in managing many embassies together, while Thero was just reeling in French embassy. So the jealousy clown triad Thero, Rajiva and Tamara formed a gang to fight Kshenuka and Vass, after horse had bolted.

If one had observed the comedy triad that time, one would not be surprised Thero’s Fascism Invention when 104 Sinhala Intellectuals destroyed Mosco Ambassador Job. Thero is guy run his horse race inside the pot. Thero thinks differently from other Sinhala Intellectuals. When he sees stronger, Sajin Vass or Rear Admirable, who easily move around the Modayas, he too could do that in his wine bottle. When he sees he could not, he blames Varathar or Piraba, or CV. If they are not around, then he just put the blame on any other Sinhala intellectual stands near to him. This time, unfortunately, it is the 104 signatories. This is not political opportunism Ranil practice between the West and the East, or the Political prostitution Hakeem class lives with. This called practicing Smarty Patriotism in the French Wine bottle. He gets this dream of bravery fills the air against Fascisms, Chauvinism….and all other isms every time when he opens his new bottle in the night. The bravery evaporates once he throws himself on the bed, not being able to stand for the stink of the alcohol any more.

This sickness is known as Meethotamulla greedy life, inside the wine bottle.

Old Royals has visited Russian embassy recently many times. Russia offered to save Udayanga when America sported Udayanga in Dubai and refused him to board into the plane that was flying to Texas. Myra 225 landed in Mahinda Bachan Naked International Airport. Ranil wants to delay the sales of the Airport until election, so he can sell it to Russia or China without much opposition from India. If Russia is buying, India may not oppose. During Trump’s time, even America may not mind. But Ranil is not sure how much election fund he would get in that deal from Russia so is the delay there in the sale. So Russia is very important country to Chitanta and Yahapalanaya administrations, at this time.

So instead of Thero, Old Royal would recommend much more efficient Afghani Donkey to Yahapalanaya to land in Mosco instead of worthless Thero. This is where Thero has invented his Fascism lava erupting in the 100 Sinhala Intellectuals’ signatures. As a matter of fact, no Sinhala intellectuals had any brain to achieve any fascism, unless they employ Hakeem, Rishard, Hezbollah…. some guys know to use Islamophobia and make things move outside of Lankawe, like ICO defeating Canadian resolution May 2009. The fascism erupting from the 104 signatures against Deepika, will not be as serious, or even more serious tomorrow, is depending the bottle’s label. That is the curse of the bitchy Mother Lankawe’s laptop journalism.

Basically the problem is these anti-Udagama party is trying various methods to bring back MR or failing GR to rule this country by using Rana Viruvo slogan. If they are genuinely patriotic they should move away from corrupt and murderous Rs and the security force personnel who helped Rs to carry out their misdeeds. Is it possible because, already one of these persons name is connected with a murder carried out in a foreign country?

Oh bloody rascals, oh bloody Brian dead rascals – Rajapakses ass licking Sumenasekera, analyst and Bundula Gunerwedene. In the Present day world garbage is gold. Sweden, Great Britain, China etc import huge volume of carnage. They sort it, take all valuables, and send the rest to the incinerator to burn to produce power, the left over ash, they use for road building and brick making. So what donkeys, if we import garbage from Singapore or for that matter from anywhere, and put it for good use and get real value out of it. So long as these Brian dead people are there, the country wouldn’t progress.

Insightful as usual. Take a lesson from all the other developed nations of the world, England, France, America and Australia. True progress can be made only through engaging with the dominant majority in a non violent manner.

In simple terms, talk to the Sinhalese ang get maximum concessions without being abrasive and causing trouble. And don’t kill. Ever.

Tamil Racist thugs in this forum including Native vedda/Kala Vedda,

As long as you talk against the Majority community and Majority Religion in Sri Lanka, no reconciliation or talks or anything and instead you all are making huge damage to Tamil masses in Sri Lanka although you claimed as their saviours.
For the good of Tamil masses, they are beginning to realize that Chelvanayagam and down the line of so called Tamil terrorists have deceived them and taken them for a serious ride for destruction.
Since they have realized that once the dubbed as invicibles, the LTTE was annihilated, the Tamil masses never ever buy the fanciful slogans anymore.

You all can shout with your legs u and heads down but, you will never get new constitution or police powers or land powers or even 13 A will be scrapped as Sri Lanka does not require those where you all can shout and fight for the common problems of Sri Lankan masses rather than wasting time on non-existing problems with unrealistic demands, which masses do not ask focussing on particular race.

This is all very rich coming from a man who spent the last few years rallying the ‘peasants’ against the international liberal order in extensive Sinhala speeches at the Rajapaksas’ side. Talk about running with the hare and hunting with the hounds.
