Humpty Dumpty Sat On A Wall

By Primus Salgado

Much discussion is going on in Sri Lanka into the perceived failure of Gotabaya Rajapaksa as President by reflecting on his performance of the first year of his term. Sections of the Opposition in Parliament and the Social media is awash with scathing criticism. The overwhelming nod he received at the Presidential election and the General election that followed has been misread by the rulers once again. It is a common mistake made by successive rulers in Sri Lanka that they are elected to deliver on all promises made via the manifesto presented prior to an election. That may well have been the assumption during a time gone by. Not so now. Presently people do expect freebies but also buy into the inflated, but false propaganda of the opposition.

Has Gota failed? Most definitely he has thus far. Not only has Gota failed in his performance as President, he has failed to realise that the mass of people who voted for him was also a failed lot. Similar rumblings heard before the fall of the Yahapalanaya government echoes through the country once again. And it’s but just a year into his Presidency. Riding a wave of Sinhala Buddhism ( which he spawned) Gota has already lost a considerable section of the so-called Voice cut Buddhist Clergy. They may or may not be the majority. Yet they are the most vociferous. He has, according to that section, failed.

Blowing your own trumpet and believing the praises of fawning sycophants and not having realised that it has been a trait followed by our brethren over hundreds of years, Gota too seems to be failing. Consider the following,

A prosperous country, a working people ? Stuff and Nonsense! We want everything FREE from our government. Gota too promised freebies. Delivered some and withdrew swiftly too out of compulsion.

Gotabaya promised to bring a quick investigation into the Easter Sunday bombings only to constitute another Commission of Inquiry which is but a fancy dress parade. Our Eminence the Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith for now, has egg on his face. Failed one more time. Remanding Rishard Bathiudeen may warm the cockles of the Sinhala Buddhist majority for the moment. Unless he hangs Rishard by his own petard the Sinhala Buddhist majority will scream blue murder. This too is doomed to fail as Gota has yet to deny officially that the Ministry of Defence during his tenure as Secretary paid Zaharan clan out of Ministry funds.

Made maximum use of the Central Bomb scandal to sweep into power. Another Presidential Commission in session which too will come to a dead end. Singapore is said to desist from repatriating Arjuna Mahendren. There has been no official response from the government of Singapore but they may have very good reason to do so, which I will state later in this article. Maybe it’s the truth or maybe not. Either way, it will help the Rajapaksha clan from taking action against their erstwhile mate Ranil Wickremesinghe. Gota will willingly fail on this.

Basked in self-glory during the early days of the pandemic together with his pet group within the Army and being late to realise that the second wave was in the offing according to medical professionals. Unable to accept a modicum of responsibility Gota places the blame on his people. Failed again.

Gota has yet to realise that he can not order the Army to point their guns at paddy fields, tea bushes nor vegetable plots and bring forth great yields. Nor can it be done to a virus. He is welcome to try it with a little help from the likes of And Doctor Eliyantha White. You get Doctors And Doctors. Therefore methinks Eliyantha White is a AND Doctor. Probably fail on this too.

Recall, every Government prior to this had a favourite Cabinet Minister or senior official in whom the President placed immense responsibility and faith. JRJ had three in Ronnie de Mel, Gamini Dissanayake and Lalith Athulathmudali. Premadasa had Sirisena Cooray and Paskaralingam. Chandrika had Mangala Samaraweera. Mahinda had Basil and Gotabaya. These favourites were given large budgets on request. Way over the other Ministers and naturally they stood head and shoulders above the rest. Gotabaya was one within the chain of command in winning the war against the LTTE. Praise is due where it is indeed due. Again I reiterate that he was but one within the chain. He was credited as THE ONE who was behind the victory. So be it but let’s ponder. If he was the sole architect he must show that he had what it took to be credited with such accolade. Let Gotabaya resolve the following during his tenure. They are simpler tasks than the war which he prosecuted with great success or even containing the pandemic.

Solve the torture and murder of Wasim Thajudeen.
Bring back Prageeth Ekneligoda or solve that mystery. Is he dead?
Solve the murder of Lasantha Wickremetunge.
Solve the torture and assault on Keith Noyahr.
Solve the disappearance of Lalith and Kugan.

When Chief Inspector of CID Nishantha Silva defected a swift investigation was launched to uncover how he obtained a visa. Much publicity was given by the kept media. The Inspector had committed treason or so they alluded. Director CID Shani Abeysekera (now former), is in remanded and has contacted Covid-19. A swift strike on him too. Makandura Madush is killed and it does not take a Sherlock to suspect Former Director CID Shani may be in danger. Many think and say so.

Singapore refusing to repatriate the former Governor of Central Bank Arjuna Mahendren may be influenced by the reasons mentioned in the above paragraphs. Democratic governments will visit the track record of the recipient country prior to rendering someone. Gota has shown that he can achieve success when he puts his might and mind to work on a project. Praise is due where it deserves. He can reverse the current perception of failure by clearing the simple tasks mentioned above. Sri Lanka has a President who came into office from outside the established order ( though from the same stables) and tagged as a “doer”.

It is his responsibility to take the country by the scruff of its neck and bring it into the right path and pave the way for her people to reach their true potential.

Remember what happened to Humpty Dumpty?

Gota has failed in many ways, that is a point that we must not argue but I n term s of getting his HIGH criminals free from their on going crime investigations he seems to have passed with distinctions. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔One behind the other they release today all those criminals though with high crimes. Basil came out of courts yesterday saying that he is clean. My question those judges to work on the agendas of Rajapakshe s, how abusive they should be. UNHRC over to u please react on these unfairness es. These people and their voters are both cheaters. 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

        Dear LM,
        .
I haven’t been making many comments recently. I feel that we are all saying too much, not thinking enough. The huge problems that confront us are going to be economic. Few of us seem to be paying much attention to patiently written articles of this sort.

Years ago, I wrote to Dr Wijewardena. He has written over 500 articles here on Colombo Telegraph. He actually visited me in my Maharagama home.

I’ve just made a comment on some things written by Champa:

Let me be the first to say that what I have written today is hardly “intellectual”. It may even be naive and foolish. Never mind, better sound foolish than stir trouble which we won’t be able to control.

Prior to all that, though, I did comment on a “serene” article by Prof. Sarvan, another person whom I correspond with:

          My Dear Sinhala Man,

thanks very your comment. Economic problems are not the only problem we srilankens have. Did not you watch recent videos published by Sepal Amarasinghe. I think now he has made it very clear, Rajapakshes and their way politics has ruined the country. I also thought that SP was a diehard supporter of Rajapakshe family. He now says, he should conitnue it with our man – Nagananda Kodithuwakku. To me, NK is the only candidate who could do palatable changes, if his was passed. However, like you and I know it very well, srilanken systems would not not work without involuntary resistance. https://academic.oup.com/jrs/article-abstract/4/2/132/1553537?redirectedFrom=fulltext

Hellow: Leelagemalli: “NK is the only candidate……….”. How many shots of “GAL” you had on Dec.1st? I think too much. Rub some Lemon (Dehi) on your feet and head and go for long hours of sleep. You will regain your senses. I had some consideration at the beginning, but when he came up with that “Unilateral Constitution” (prepared by him and said to be 14 others he failed to name) he received my thumbs down. What about the “Funds of 33 million” he collected? When people wanted to know how that “Fund” was spent, he said: “Anyone can see my account”. He tried to “Hang on” to another “Mad Man” a new entrant to politics, that “Pallewatte” and also tried to garnish support from another “Novice” Dr. Ariyaratne. He was a “Drifter” with no project plan but behaved like a “Bull in a China Shop”. I am glad everyone whom he tried to “Dominate” and yet “Hanged” on “Dropped” him like a hot brick. These types must be taught a “Life long” lesson. He received that lesson and hope he learns it.

              Dear Simon,
              .
I’ve “liked” your comment: a serious attempt to engage with facts. LM is making far too many comments without providing much feedback, and maybe not following the links that are provided by others.
              .
I know LM only through comments made on CT, but I’m convinced that he’s honest, concerned and “uninebriated”. You know exactly who I am, and what my circumstances are. I have met Nagananda briefly, spoken to him on his mobile phone, and emailed him. I deposited a little money in his BOC, Nugegoda, account and I’m sure that all money has been legitimately spent.
              .
Sunil Jayasundera whom I have referred to above was more scathingly disillusioned with Nagananda, but didn’t suggest that he’s dishonest. I have indicated the futility of voting for Nagananda, unless there’s a “sea-change”.
              .
Sepal’s videos: looks as though the gullible trust him once more, but unless he’s explained what I have put into bold in my PART ONE comment, I’m not listening. His NOTA nonsense helped the SLPP.
              .
Even without it, the Rajapaksas would have won handsomely. However, with intelligently organised voting then, and discussion now, we could improve the current situation. Feed-back from you please.

Sinhala_Man: Thank you for addressing me. To begin with, I only take people into my confidence after knowing their actions. To me, “Believing” and placing “Belief” on people or anything is “Ignorance”. In keeping with that, my thinking of NK was and still a “Bull in a China Shop”. He fails to work within a “Team” and not a “Team Leader”. His utterances are not that of a well-groomed leader expected of a person to be the “President” of a country that has got embedded in a mud pit. One example: He said publicly: “I will get all the Judges to resign, failing all of them would be removed and new appointments would be made. I will make the Parliamentarians sit on “Benches” like in the UK”. I know what those “Benches” in the UK are. The kind of “Leader” I want is not a “Gallery Entertainer” but a “Dedicated”, “Intellectual” and a “Visionary”. NK, Pallewatta, and Mahesh Senanayake should have first given up their high sense of “EGO” and joined hands with “PPM” and formed into a “Second Force ” to establish a “Strong Opposition” in the Parliament. That “Dog Fight” among the “Progressives” was a “Curse”. In time to come, I will place my opinion on matters of relevance more explicitly and constructively. Thank you again for inviting me to give a “Feed-back”.

                Dear Mr SM,
                .
I know you only focus on you being genuine just becasue you display your ID number and the name. I dont have any doubts, but some times, It is exaggering and knowing and having studied the ground realities in srilanka, why should we risk our lives. Now with high criminals being in the leadership, it is very unlikely that I would reveal my personal details on here or any other public forums. Anyways, I thank you so much for calling me honest. I dont get anything if behaved dishonest. To me, as I added somewhere else, srilanka is more or less like a GARBAGE DUMP. Fortunately, I dont live there anymore and nor have I lived there in recent decades.

To tell you, I will check all of your posts and the links you added during next weekend and will get back to you. This week has been no easy for us these days with temperatures becoming lower day by day.

Btw, I dont criticise each and every video being published by Sepal as you do, if I would do so, almsot everything being reported from SRILANKA are no fair to my eyes. True SEPAL supported Rajapakshe barbarians in recent elections, but now he is very vocal against Rajapakshe hedgemonic rule.

                  Thanks, LM.
                  .
Absolutely no doubt about your being genuine. However, I do understand it when you feel that with conditions in Sri Lanka being almost beyond repair, you should stop taking risks. There is a limit to what any person can or should do.
                  .
The strategy of Sepal is similar to some hackers of email addresses and blackmailers. They don’t immediately deliver a knockout. They want to keep the victim alive, so as to continue exploiting him. Sepal has to keep his audience hooked, so he will say things critical of the Rajapaksas. The Rajapaksas may actually have given him a contract to keep under his wing (rather than allowing them to align with a genuine alternative – my choice being the NPP) all anti-Rajapaksa disgruntled elements. Wasn’t that what he was doing even in the early part of this year?
                  .
Actually, I did listen to him last night: will try to give the reference later. We don’t want him having a hold over susceptible youth. You can see how much votes mattered – that is at least lakhs of them. At the last moment, he suggests suicide. It is crucial that you understand my reasoning.

              Dear Simon,
Thank you for your comment. But believe or not, I am not alcoholic. Nor have I ever tasted GAL.
Please read MY COMMENT again: If you criticise almost everyone, please come with options. Who do you think could make a real change in KUNUKANDA like srilanka.

“To me, NK is the only candidate who could do palatable changes, if his was passed. However, like you and I know it very well, srilanken systems would not not work without involuntary resistance”

Not me, Mr SM et al went on asking anyone to support NK from the begining of 2019. However, for some reasons, NK was unable to succeed with the nomination. THere was two more guys, on whom we kept our faither, one Kohona and the other was former auditor general ( Wijesinghe). I have not heard of them after GOTA won the election.

I think everyone with some sanity would be clear that nobody from outside could succeed by misleading srilanken masses. If anyone wants to be a politician in our hell, he/she should be well connected with srilanken corrupted systems/tradition.
People living in WANATHAMULLA are the ones who would be aware of the facts about KUNUKANDHA, Garbage dumps- likewise, nobody coming from outside world would not be easy to win slightest in SL.

              to be continued. .

Leelagemalli: That “GAL” remark was only a “sarcasm” and I apologize if it hurts you. I at the last two elections supported the “PPM” against all other “Corrupted” nominations put forward by the two major parties. I didn’t find any such from the “PPM”. So, haven’t I proposed an alternative? I do criticize where it must be and also tell what must be done. I have to criticize two fronts: (1) the “Corrupted” politician whatever the party he/she belongs to and (2) the “Dumb” and “Slave” voters. I supported “PPM” nominations and just see how “honorable”, “responsible” its appointed MP Ms. Harini Amarasuriya performs in the Parliament. That is the type I expect in Parliament. I do support you in your endeavors to clean up themess in S/L.

                  Dear Simon Aiya,

Thanks you. With start of my weekend, I am feeling somewhat relaxing. Greetings to you from central europe :)No it didnot hurt me. Right now whenver I watch any news coming from SL not feeling good. If people down there had brains, would the rascals ever have been back to ruin the country again ?
No doubt I respect her lot. Ms Amarasuriya is doing her job well. No doubt, you, SM , Native, Buddhist M1, JS are my favourites on this platform. I have been posting to CT for the last 7 years or so. I must not display my IDs here, but my mission is to reveal a lot and make every effort to wake people from their long slumber.

You must continue to express yourself on all matters where you have had sufficient time to study the problem in the round.
                    .
After some time, we all begin to feel that we have a duty to let the world know what we feel on every subject. That is plain impossible. Resist that temptation. Also, don’t allow yourself to be drawn into slanging matches.
                    .
I owe much to you; have learnt many things from you which I wouldn’t otherwise know. Please keep going, with fewer, well-thought-out comments.

          Dear Sinhala_Man,
I step in just for an input on ‘Economy’ which is everybody’s worry.
You are dead on when you say that the huge problems that confront us are going to be economic.
You are in reach of Dr Wijewardena, an expert on economic matters. Ask him if economy could be looked at in isolation of stability in the country. Stability and Economy are inseparable. We have to make our country stable to resolve our economic woes.
Mine is a view of a man in the street!

Nathan: “Mine is a view of a man in the street”. Yes. That is what all these “Educated” Professorial types who give us lessons not only economics but all other matters related to peoples’ lives have failed to do. That “Man in the StreeT’ is considered to be a “Spent Bullet”., but made use as “Fodder” to fatten the wealth and health of the powers be. Simple as that say all of them have contributed to making. the country unstable in every aspect

              Dear Simon,
              .
I disagree with your assessment of Dr WA Wijewardena.
I’ll try ringing him, but won’t ask him whether something as self-evident as “ Are Stability and Economy inseparable?”
              .
Economics itself can be studied at various levels; this article by Kumar David sees the versatile author being almost flippant:
              .

              .
However, his purpose is serious. When he writes more technical stuff, he knows that guys like me cannot fully understand. Yet, I read; I try to understand, end up making a comment saying “not fully understood.” All humbly said in proper English, at least.
              .
Prof. Kumar himself has acknowledged to me the soundness of Dr Wijewardena and the immense efforts he makes to reach out. After I had emailed Wijewardena that “few” and “a few” have different meanings, he initially replied and then visited me. We’re the same age. He then told me that he had studied in a small school and had initially failed “O. Level Syllabus B English”, whereas I had got a Credit for “Syllabus A”. But see how much more he’s achieved in life than me.
              .
So, please don’t reject every bit of learned theory; it is necessary.

Sinhala_Man: Could be my comment construed as an “assessment” of Dr. Wiajwardane. I am sorry if that was the case. I like his presentations, but my concern was how far those could reach the “Man in the Street. Don’t you think, we have had enough of “High Leve” theorizations of our economic problems? What I would urge the intellectuals like Dr. Wijeardane to do is to reach out to the simple folks and offer them facilities to understand the problems in simple terms. That type of information is not getting filtered to them resulting in them being “used” and “abused” by the corrupted politicians at all levels. You would have understood me better if you read some of my comments addressed directly to Dr.Wijewardane in his articles. Excepting that fact, I value his contributions based on high theories of economics. My only worry is how that gets filtered to “Man in the Street”.

                Dear Simon,
                .
I don’t read all that much on Economics myself, and I’m an odd guy, and a bit of a loner myself.
                .
WAW appears quite often on TV, which I almost never watch. He speaks often in Sinhala, and he tries very hard to reach out to a wide audience.
                .
“The Man in the Street” has learnt to have impossible dreams. He usually wants both lower prices and higher wages for all. The result of decades of patronage politics dressed up as “socialism”. Young people have no work ethic, will not soil their hands doing any manual work; problem is nor do I ! Live in a developed country as you do – and you realise that all have to be handymen.
                .
In these respects, WWA is a marvel. He’s worked hard all his life and is ever willing to help others. What you cannot expect from him is to go round denouncing those who he may even know to be crooks.
                .
However, in that latest question and answer debate on the budget, he does give guidelines for us to understand what has been happening for at least the last fifty years.
                .
                I’m getting weary of this.

                Dear Mr SM,

as you write above, you guys are friends. Leaving your friendship aside, please come to the points will you ! Could you please ask Mr Wijewardhana to clear our doubts regarding so called CENTRAL BANK bond scams to have started from 2008. I yet today dont believe that Mr Ranil Wickramasinghe was aware of the scams, at the time he appointed oxford educated AM for the position. However, MR was aware because Ajith Cabral and Mahinda Rajapkashe handled ministry of finance from 2005- 2015. Reliable sources proved that the huges losses made by that govt was 100 times more than what revealed in GG rule.

To that time, Dr Wijewardhana was still working there as a a deputy governor. He was not just a clerical clerk, but executive level decisions made by director boards should be familar to him. So far, I have read a lot his articles, but most of them are are similar to contents that would not move beyond ” beating around the bush”: If the kind of bond scams began in 2008, Wijewardhana et al should be charged for that. And come with any clear cut articles published by him on BOND scam from his point of view.

          Dear Mr SM,
          .
We are in an era we hear the people in civilized countries too become bribe/corruption friendly. In fact, I heard that Trump men are reported to have bribed few of the WHITE HOUSE staff in order to get the trasition delayed.

However, it is not the majority in the US. In srilanka and any other like minded countries, the majority continue supporting bribes, any form of corruption from dawn to dusk. So called most respectable relgious leaders do the same, either they just support the criminal politicians or stay mum as if they are helpless. So as we are walking on a curve, nothing would change much for the benefit of the masses.

So what more talks about a nation (which is ours) whose over 80% would not care much about what is being said and done, but become followers of the neighbours. If anyone would say “SADU SADU” also tearing off their both ends, the one standing/sitting next to him/her would just join the wave… that is how anything and everyhting function in my home country.

But in any civilized countries, people are made to sense it, if not by themself or through what they called ” Beratung/consulation meetings”. Even trained dogs would obviously be intelligent than the average people in srilanka.

            Thanks, LM.
            .
I acknowledge your absolute sincerity, but have you looked at what I have told you above and followed the links?
            .
I hope that Freeman sees what I’m now writing. He has expressed dismay at what I had told Prof. Charles Sarvan here about a “swan song”.

I’ve got an email from Sarvan, thanking me for my “tact” and acknowledging that he has more “problems”. His wife of more than half a century is German. He’s almost uxorious – her health now causes concern. The details are not surprising, but those are properly private, aren’t they?

BTW, I forgot to tell you that Jacques Huyghebaert has First Language German as well.

He had agreed to let an elephant be tethered in the school for a week between two peraheras, since the students could learn a lot by observing its behaviour.

When Duraiappa was gunned down in 1975 by you a group that you should know, a few FP leaders applauded it, at least indirectly. The Gandhian leader SJVC maintained a stunning silence.
You may remember the TULF leader who rattled off a few names to declare that they did not deserve a ‘natural death’.
The tragedy was that the gunmen who delivered non-natural death to several opponents of the FP/TULF did the same to several leaders of the FP/TULF.
        *
Killings by proto LTTE elements (and their rivals) since they first tasted blood in 1975 had the blessings of at least part of the TULF I would say, as the TULF itself avoided condemning the killings.

Foolish Sinhala voters are reaping what they sowed. 10 killed at Mahara prison and 50+ injured some critically. This is only the start. This is the plight of the Sinhalas in SL. Karma. You vote, you pay!

First Gota came for the Tamils
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Tamil

Then they came for the Muslims
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Muslim

Then they came for the Christians
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Christian

Then they came for the prisoners

Basil came out of courts yesterday saying that he is clean. My question those judges to work on the agendas of Rajapakshe s, how abusive they should be. So Justice according to GATAM has to be across the “imaginary divide”.

So feel free to kill your own (it is defined by the killers who is their own/in the opposite divide, traitors, turncoats etc) that is just fine…..take the bullet and the rope knowing you are being killed for all right reasons……………..the “rulers who rules themselfs several hundreds of years ago should rule again”. Anyone unfortunate enough TO BE BORN FREE EVER SINCE (since 1948)…..perhaps 100000 Mother Lankan children died and many more lost arms/limbs/families/homes SINCE 1970 should be so happy in the heavens knowing someone lighting a candle somewhere for them.

Gatam have this written into the law please…..make a lot of sense…..your open should liberate few more lives next time around when your children go around killing each other. Well done. I am enlisting foreign Tamil children aged 12-15 please let me know now.

Please also inform the people of Sri Lanka now they will have 4 countries..from now on will be referenced as “GATAM Law”.

Indians – Little India for the entire Hill Country (please ask the Sinhalese to migrate out)…need the most fertile area for the breeding program.

        East – Muslim kingdom.

        North – Tamil Kingdom

Sinhalese – Any leftover but ready to leave when Little India and East need more land please.

GATAM -is this a correct understanding of the GATAM Law?

If the island is divided at least Tamils will live in safety and without massive government corruption and without the stigma of war crimes. Buddhist rule since 1948 dragged down non-Buddhists more than Buddhists.

The Sri Lankan people got what they voted for. The Rajapaksa’s are the clinging types, they will cling to power, manipulate our laws, dominate our courts, threaten, take political prisoners, and will never leave.
They have appointed felons, war criminals, and scoundrels in top positions, and thugs are pardoned. Similar to dictatorships.
ALL bad signs of having sycophants around them, who will steal, bully, and yes, kill for them.
If only the voters listened to the voices of reason. Our Sri Lankan voters keep doing the same thing, voting for the same rascals, and expect different results. Poor judgement.

The author seems to be looking for the snake start swallowing itself by the tail. If the snake is successful in doing that, there would not a snake to swallow anybody else. Suppose Ranil, instead of going to treat the king in Singapore, and had put the royals in prison, the small ants, Corona Virus would have eaten the sugar mountain. Ranil would not have become a Heroes killer.
The neighbor, TN’s example is – Karunanidhi kept robbing a lot, but he was releasing lot of projects for international companies. So FDI came in; boys & girls people got work. Farmers lost their children’s labor, tried bringing labor as far as from Udra Pradesh. Some of them still could not manage so sold their lands for development. Farmers were left behind. But by the internal change in economy, Amma Restraints were selling one Idli meal for one rupee. So a special kind of Rapist Army was not needed in TN to secure food security. Unless country is industrialized, money cannot flow into the hands of mass. This was mistake three UNP governments failed to understand, Don Stephen, Dudley and Junius Richard. They all only attempted to separate Lankawe from global economy and create food security. That is why our comrade Jim Softy recently wrote that now in Lankawe, even the people eating rice and Pol Sambol feel proud, because they all eat imported food.

These are not the behaviours of a real leader. How can he provide a strong leadership to the country when he has many skeletons in his closet? He’s so badly compromised. That’s why the Sinhala Alt-Right went into a frenzy to project a fake social persona about him as a ‘tough guy’ before the elections. So people should not be surprised if the mystique crumbles like a Chinese fortune cookie at crunch time.

The Rajapaksa brothers deceive people with their political game.
See this: One Rajapaksa (Mahinda) for the Sinhala Buddhist people. One Rajapaksa (Gotabhaya) is for Muslims and one Rajapaksa (Basil) is for the LTTE Diaspora and its allies.
In the last few weeks, they have used various tactics to incite the Sinhalese against the Muslims.
Now the President has appointed a cabinet minister to stir up anti-LTTE sentiments among Sinhalese. Their focus has shifted from the London Diaspora to the Canadian Diaspora. Looking at the past, their motive is clear.
I think the Rajapaksas will have to fight their battle alone this time.

I saw a good article written by Dr. Ameer Ali.
Sri Lanka’s food & agriculture industry is controlled by wealthy mafia traders with close ties to Rajapaksas.
The “Development Budget-2021” guarantees a brighter future for the privileged while the poor have only unemployment, hunger and malnutrition.
As Basil once boasted, there is nothing in the 2021-Budget to support a “V-shaped recovery”.
Let us look at the current economic situation in terms of economic shapes or the recession alphabet.
    We certainly are not in a U, V or a W-shaped economy.
Our situation is similar to the K-shape. Its upward line features the wealthy, and the downward line features the poor. (The description may be varied based on the situation.)
During the first corona wave, wealthy businessmen and garment factory owners saved a lot of money by distorting the 50% wage cuts introduced to retain jobs. As the garment and some other factory owners now recover, they should be asked to pay the balance 50%.
When Sri Lanka can easily convert the K-shape recession into a J-shape with right decisions, I am shocked by the government’s decision to seek a massive loan from China to the tune of US$700M.
“The most important quality of leadership is intellectual honesty”—a quote by Business Superstar John F. Welch.

One question in the article: “Has Gotabaya failed?”. NO. He had a “Hidden Agenda”. Not what he proclaimed in the “Saubagye Dekma” (Vision of Prosperity). There was a whole lot of “Indictments” filed in Courts against him, his siblings, his nephews, his cousins, his cohorts, and other “invisible” associates. All the cases that were to have taken un in Courts were, “Postponed” until such time the “Rajapkse &Co.Inc” was successful at the Presidential and General elections. Having achieved that through the “Slaves” votes, Gotabaya did not waste any time to strengthen his “Say” in all Governing functions. That “First Step” was “20A”. Even the pandemic “COVID 19” did not bother him or delay in bringing in the required legislations to establish authority as “I” am the “ONE” to do things and the rest can wait until “I” am ready and willing. At the rate, those “Lined” up cases in Courts are getting “Thrown Out”, one can imagine the “Success” speed of “Gota’s Win”. That “Humpty Dumpty” has no relevance to Gota’s “Success”, but has all the relevance to the People and the Country.

    • 6
      0

…………………….Gotabaya did not waste any time to strengthen his “Say” in all Governing functions.
      So true.
Firstly the 20A – Covid be damned from spreading.
      Then :
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s statement that his verbal orders must be considered as circulars coming from the “Executive President”.
That is finally summed up by :
“It Is The Law Because I Say So”.

People and the country , well deserved it. There are good governance and not so good governance. Then we have average/mediocre ones and the bad ones. But there are few laughable ones and that is what I remember as governance in Lanka. Instead of answers we get more and more questions , as though people do not have enough to deal yet. Yes the war came to an end more than 10 years ago, but the living situation has worsened beyond control. We had years of Rajapaksas ,Sirisena RW; Easter and now Pandemic beyond control leading to economical bankruptcy. Whether Bond scam, Lasantha/Thaj murders, political murders, disappearances, massive debts, down grading of govt bonds —etc—-etc. none has been addressed, other than adding further to the existing ones.

In developed countries with mature societies, it is extremely rare to observe state leaders bending laws to suit friends in trouble or even dismiss the laws of a country as being irrelevant against his diktat, with an air of impunity. If in the unlikely event an aberration is allowed to pass, there will be swift calls for impeachment and such leaders will be forced out of office, in line with modern norms of decency and civil conduct, not to mention the law being supreme. On the contrary, in countries where tribalism and cronyism go hand in hand with grand corruption, the people are always at the mercy of the state’s leader’s whim, and remain hopelessly mired in desperation and poverty.

……Much discussion is going on in Srilanka into the perceived failure of Gotabaya Rajapakse as President by reflecting on his performance of the first year of his term……….

    This is the opening line of this candid essay. But wait a minute; Reflect again;
Almost all the pending cases against all the Rajapakse catchers, including a case against a sibling—Basil has been thrown out by the COURTS. Mind you in double quick time. No usual delays and postponements!
More will be taken up and thrown out.

The 20th Amendment was the key.
True Gota was one within the chain of command in the war against the LTTE.
But he should be credited as THE ONE behind ALL HIS CATCHERS GETTING OFF SCOT FREE!

Plato – “……more will be thrown out”

The Sri Lankan community memory is short. Let us be reminded now and then so that real Society members including the yellow-
      robed clans are provoked:

      1. The Court Case No. & relating to (Offences) etc
      2. The results achieved – date of conclusion etc.

Let these be daringly published by willing media at all intervals
of each Case result comes up. The postponed ones must also be kept in view.

Soon you will see Gota appointees Kamal, Shavendra, … etc committing genocide with their arrogance, inability, …. ignorance, and complacency. Even after 11 years, they are still boasting about how they single-handedly won the war against LTTE hence their focus is not on eliminating COVID 19.

The Rear Admiral who is unable to deal with Hindian hegemony in this island, (oil tank, 13th Amendment, Indo Sri Lankan pact, Provincial Council) now wants to stop LTTE activities in Europe including fund raising, etc. These racists cannot deal with the problems in hand leave alone desire to control over Europe, Americas, ….

The Anti German Ambassador designate Manori Unambuwe wanted to monitor activities of Tamil Diaspora (including third, fourth, fifth generation and unborn children).

Eastern governor has millions of issues in her hands to deal with, however she is busy and focused on one nation, one language, one people, one race(?), one leader, ….. and playing Robin-Hood (Utuwankande Sura Saradiel) by stealing land from the poor and distributing to the poor from far away places.

When a dumass appoints dum-asses for important jobs this is what happens, wasting scarce resources on their aimless pet racist projects, which might be good for their respective ego and keep them in limelight but resources are being wasted and new conflicts are being created.

        Sugandh,
        .
Long time no see. Where had you been ? No point of wasting time for srilanka. Its state is worsened to the manner nothing can help. Now with 20A being in action, ballige puthas have been ruining the country. I have lost my faith on srilankens, nor can I trust anyone down there. See how they murdered those unarmed prisoners with jailers enjoying with their filthy sinhala talks.
        :
I dont see, any difference between jail guards and reactions of MEDAMULAN rascals.

          Dear LM,
Maybe we have to hit rock bottom before we as a county, as a society, recognize our evils.

Perhaps the impassioned pleas of the voices for justice will fall on deaf ears until then.

But let’s not give up hope. Let’s keep up our voices. Let’s find ways to be effective in our actions for positive change…

          Regards

        Sugandh.

        Thanks for the link.
No doubt the grandson of the Monarch of the Assize Court G.G.Ponnambalam Q.C.IS IN HIS ELEMENTS.
The point made by him that all Sinhala people are by no means RACISTS should be noted.
As for Sarath Weerasekera, it would take many more years for him to feel at home on Terra Firma; After all, he has spent a better part of his lifetime on the high-seas!

      Dear Plato,
      .
It is all because people are like 2-leged animals. They dont care the least about truths and facts.
      :
I mean the predominant majority of people born to this island are fools.

Those sivuru wearing so called PINGUTHTHARAYAs are jokers to the eyes of all as of today.
      .
Muruththeruwa Ananda Himi promised to the nation that he would not tie a PIRITH NOOLE around the penises of Rajakshes again, But this just lasted only a week, the very same CHEEWARA DHARIYA turned up in MR s b day and went on doing all what he was asked for. That is the nature of SRILANKEN monks who have always been kept above in that society. I think ALL THE mess is created by FALSE media coverages and the direct mediation of BUDDHAGAMA monks (dont mix them with real good buddhist monks) in srilanken society.
      :
If ASUCHI would be marketed by BUDDHIST clergy as SINIBOLA, millions would line up to taste it. This nation is STUPID as no others. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

Why say he is a “Doer”? He was only the Supplies Officer during the war (and he earned a lot). He beautified Colombo? His elder brother was the President, his younger brother handled all state funds and due to these he got enough money to waste and rob. He had a Henchman to write a book named “Gota’s War”

China reported personally delivering Covid vaccine to North Korean Autocrat Kim (just for him ), where thousands are affected by the pandemic. What is the chances of Rajapaksas having it already, take a guess ???

” What is the chances of Rajapaksas having it already, take a guess ”

When China sends out computers, on the boxes, it marks this “This is NK” & “This is for Lankawe” .Same way it mark on the injection vials “This is for Kim” & “This is for Royals” . When Royals getting that kind of special treatment, how can they show friendship to Democracies, breaking off with China? Only Pavitra put her vial in the pot & let it go on the river. She the Neo-Kunti.
(Who knows how many days Royals lost their sleep or drank how many gallons of Prit water after those injections.)

Why the hell President Gotabhaya solve these cases. People in this country did not vote for Gotabhaya to solve these cases. Dumbos who voted for ‘Jadapalana’ Government expected them to resolve these cases and punish the culprits but they did not do a damn thing because some of the guys responsible for these crimes were in ‘Jadapalana’ Government. Read Ranil Wickramasinghe’s statement in the Hansard.

“Let Gotabaya resolve the following during his tenure.
Solve the torture and murder of Wasim Thajudeen.
Bring back Prageeth Ekneligoda or solve that mystery. Is he dead?
Solve the murder of Lasantha Wickremetunge.
Solve the torture and assault on Keith Noyahr.
Solve the disappearance of Lalith and Kugan.”

Please wait and see, the days ahead of us, we will be compelled to see, RAJAPAKSHEs are murdered by the very same 6.9 millions of voters. I see the light at the end of the tunnel regarding a disaster which will be even bigger than any like minded disasters the nation faced ever. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

      Eagle Eye,

Come with the list of issues that BP Rajapakshes have resolved since they ve been in power.
      :
Not a single thing is achieved by them. Polonnaruwe donkey was atatached not tohave made any progress, but looking back today, SIRISENA with his GRAMASEWAKA mentality allowed to function UNP govt and achieved thousand times more than that of first just passed by, current govt.

These five cases all involve members of the Rajapuka hora boru family. Therefore there is zero chance of Gotler taking on the challenge. There are three reasons why these cases were never concluded under the previous government.

    1. Sirisena pulling by the leg and meddling in the cases thru the Attorney generals department. He fell out with the IGP because he could not have his way with the police. This is why the kept medi went to town over any minor incident involving the IGP to sling as much mud at the IGP as possible.

    2. Ranil Wickremasinghe’s aloofness and arrogance in refusing to intervene and fire corrupt officials in the police investigating these crimes such as Ravi Widyalankara and also those in the AGs office. Also ignoring the ministers in his own party who were up to no good and part of the ginger brigade of underminers.

    3. The existence of an alliance of underminers within the UNP aimed at ruining the party such as Wijedasa who sat on his ass for two years without moving a single file, Sajith Putha who looked up in the sky and occosionally pronounced some stupid policy to undermine his own administration like treating al Rajapuka appointees fairley, Thalatha AthoKorala who appeard to be doing fine but dragged her feet and stalled as much as she could in appointing the special courts to expedite these five and other cases.

Gotler’s failure does not need articles to explain. You can see it on the streets. People are dropping dead on the street litteraly out of starvation, lack of medicine, inability to earn a living. Farmers are going broke unable to sell their produce while the consumer starves and the food rots away at Dambulla whole sale market. All this while the army rules with its jackboot on the throat of the people, the police arrest and jail the poor happles folk who travel the roads desperately trying to get some place. Since the jails are now full they have resorted to fining the people who have meager resources and are barely surviving. The people are blamed for spreading COVID when the truth is that they knew they had it when they fell ill working at the Brandix factory and were told to take a Panadol and keep working. The brave women who went to hospital was lied to and then accused to spreading the diseas. Finally, the worst is yet to come. We face a stark future of food scarcity, no medicine and pretty much a halt to most imports due to the lack of money. Falling revenue will create a severe credit crunch and a debt default. The end is near. Humpty Dumpty is about to fall when he does all his supporters will not be able to put Sri Lanka back together again.

Clearly, like in all regimes before, a sign of loss of control to bring things into order is apparent, unlike in the euphoric days of the apparent success of containing the first wave of COVID 19. The court jesters, lackeys, seem to make hay while the sun shines. The mystery surrounding in paying several hundreds of thousands of rupees per Sri Lankan returnees is a good example, which deserves the appointment of a Commission of Inquiry. The writer asserts that not only President NGR but the voters who voted him are also a failed lot. We know that the “Yahapalana” government, which I too voted for, started with a bang, and ended with a whimper, even RSW not even getting an elected seat. Does it mean that the voters of 2015 too are a failed lot? Just as much as the customer is the king in commerce, the voter is the king in a democracy. Those who get elected, should be with the people and get a firsthand feeler of people’s issues. Otherwise they rot and get into the dustbin soon.

      Good Sense

“Otherwise they rot and get into the dustbin soon.”

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
Gota and his lackeys have been committing genocide since dumb asses were appointed to manage the Pandemic. Instead of fighting the Pandemic they are still fighting LTTE.

Sarath Weerasekere is planning to recruit another 20,000 to Police Force as if the present 80,000 is working effectively. Unless Police department is cleaned up nothing much is going to change. Additional 20,000 also become corrupt, racists. Its like dropping salt into ocean.

So, it sounds that Saran was hired to spy on Muslim terrorists, but he became the terrorist. Double-crosser!
Without help from all powerful Muslim politicians, it would have been impossible to carry out Easter Sunday terror for someone like Saran who was from Kattankudi slum.

      Mind your language.
It is Islamic Republic of Kattankudy and not Kattankudi slum.
      Give some respect.

    Gota failed.
He never had a intellect to develop any country but some experience from the army to carry things out by command and being a brother of all revered MR.
They deceived most ignorant Sinhalese , Buddhist people of 69 lax .
Biggest problem for the country is people thinking in ethnic and religious eye toward any problem.
Easy way to exploit people by Rajapkase family who now has power of the executive, parliament and law.
69 lax slaves deserve it but why do the 54 lax of people who did not vote for Gota suffer.

      Jack

      “Gota failed.”

      Gota failed miserably.
His 15,000 generals who are not fit for the job, are still fighting the LTTE instead of carrying out what they were assigned to deliver.

Incompetent bunch of butchers cannot run a country.

69 lax slaves deserve it but why do the 54 lax of people who did not vote for Gota suffer.
      Please note:
Total number of registered electors 16,263,885
      Voted for SLPP 6,853,690 (42%)

Electors who didn’t vote for SLPP 9,410,195 (58%)

Gota fails! So say his enemies/opponents. Such a waste of space for such public self-gratifying antics by people who have nothing else to do.

Meanwhile comrade Jehan Perera is pontificating on how to improve ” President Gotabaya Can Achieve Where Other Leaders Failed “. I am interested in reading that one. Anyone? After all, it is the Harvard Graduate and law expert turned political pundit who is now leading the hope for a brighter future now.

I hope you are all enjoying the benefits of his failure, gleefully awaiting the next. I hope none of you are ‘affected’ by this failure.

I am going to form another party called “Indian Expansion/Colonisation party”.

Did the Indians come to save our GOSL in 1971 for the JVP or to safeguard the Hill Country for India?

OI say the latter. What you guys think??
