I Will Not Reappoint Ranil Even If All 225 MPs Support Him: Sirisena

The second round of discussions between President Maithripala Sirisena and the United National Front party leaders ended unsuccessfully with the President continuing to reject the UNF’s nomination for the Prime Minister’s position, Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Sirisena

The meeting took place at the Presidential Secretariat at 8 PM with the participation of all UNP party leaders who attended the first meeting last Friday.

Speaking to media after the meeting with the President, UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella said Sirisena informed his group that Ranil Wickremesinghe would not be appointed the Prime Minister even if he received the support of all 225 MPs in Parliament.

“This is a grave threat to democracy. The meeting without any outcome due to President Sirisena’s stubborn attitude,” a UNF party leader who wished to remain anonymous told Colombo Telegraph after the meeting.

The UNF party leaders walked into the Presidential Secretariat with a new-found confidence with the interim order by the Court of Appeal preventing former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his group from continuing in office.

The UNF party leaders pointed out to Sirisena that Wickremesinghe, the UNF’s nominee for the Prime Minister post, had the support of 117 MPs in the House. Despite their statements, Sirisena said he would not reappoint Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister, bringing the political crisis back to square one.

The Hon. president is right. Unelected judges can’t be allowed to decide what is good for the people. They can’t go over the head of a noble man who got elected by 6.2 million people of this country.

The popular president should be allowed to save this country from the American/Israeli conspiracy and drive our ship to the grasp of our old friend China. That is where our future lies. The courts should get out of the way, or they will be run over too.

People powerw is real this time.

“I Will Not Reappoint Ranil Even If All 225 MPs Support Him”

Is this the type of democracy you meant when you appealed to the people in 2015?

        Dear Champa

Thank you for calling me affectionately Machang. My opinions certainly differs from you but I am not your enemy. I like the style you write but not the substance. I can decipher you are an educated lady ( your name seems feminine), coming from a well to do family.

We basically differ firstly I am a Tamil you are Sinhala. I am NOT playing the race card but only mentioning certain facts which certainly influence our thinking. I am not a Rajapkse supporter when you are one. I not finding fault with it.

One thing common with you and me is we both are educated. I went through a good school and am sure you too ( I see from the style you write). I am mature enough to understand, we all have a right to disagree but will defend anyone’s right to say what he wants to say. Having said that I must stress the fact he is responsible to what he has said in public especially if they are demeaning in nature. As long as they are factually correct I agree one can say if he so desires. Truth certainly hurts and nothing hurts more than the truth. But just because being factually correct does not mean is advisable to go public and, one must use some common sense and discretion, when sometimes best ignored.

Politics is a dirty game. You may have caught the tiger by the tail and so cannot leave it. You are on a slippery slope. The country needs a statesman not mere politician doling out verbal diarrhea of lies and abusive language.

        Pulasthi

        Who has violated the constitution?

It was almost all the MPs who voted to pass the hastily drafted, unfriendly to the democracy 19th amendment to the constitution.

Please let me put it in another way.

You have a stream that flows pure pristine crystal clear water that needs not purifying but one adds something to it to pollute, in the guise of further purifying it.

        Who is the culprit?

    Sirisena,
If you can’t work according to constituion and rule of law, you should go in front of people and ask for a mandate to get a new constitution that suits to you. Don’t waste your time and national resources. There is no barrier for a call for Presidential election.

Do anyone now take this stupid guy seriously? He is the same fellow who said in 2015, that he will never ever allow the Rajapakses to come back to power! Then he appointed the same man as PM on a Friday night three years later, through the back door, when everyone else were going to bed!

Sirisena went from Nadir to Zenith; Grama Niladhari[ Village Headman] to Executive President!
What would happen if all 225 MPP vote to Impeach him? He may then say,
see I still won; I did not appoint Ranil as PM!
    The man has a Phobia.

This kind of erratic and bizarre behaviour is usually exhibited by individuals with bipolar disorder when they are going through their manic phase. Impeachment on mental health grounds is the right response to “I Will Not Reappoint … … Blah … Blah … Blah.”

A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. (Movie Star, Christopher Reeve)

I am having second thoughts about all this. Everybody blames President Sirisena. That makes me uneasy. Usually the majority is wrong. It has been always wrong, when something new comes up. The best example of this is Copernicus and his new heliocentric astronomical model. It was totally resisted by the church and even by fellow astronomers of the time.
    .
Thus the theory that everyone seems to subscribe to – that President Sirisena is the villain of the piece– must be reinvestigated. We know that Ranil was definitely involved with the bond scam. Only President Sirisena may know about the other things that he may be involved in. Lepidoptera Rhopalocera problem also may be of concern to MS. We can laugh and have fun, but where the Lepidoptera Rhopalocera are concerned only the victim knows what he/she has to go through.
    .
Right now MS is a fighter, a lone hero battling against the legislature, the judiciary and the constitution. Only he understands that the constitution has to be followed in letter as well as in spirit, the spirit being the most important part. History would one day write the name of Maithripala Sirisena in the Mahavamsa chronicles in letetrs of gold, as a great hero on par with Prince Diyasena.

Of course Mahawamsa would and should record his valiant effort to save his and Mahinda’s bums, another heroic act, a feat of mythic proportions on the part of Sinhala/Buddhists. Mahawamsa celebrates/records farricides, bestiality, incest, massacres, murders, war crimes, …………. religious wars, …………

What is paramount to him is to comphrehend the constitution. His knowledge is provably not that improved to do the job. That should be the reason him to repeat blunders one behind the other.

When things would end up in vain, SIRISENA points his stinky fingers at the judiciary. That has been his only excuse. Entire world is gazing at him not being able to see what this man has been upto.

Surprisingly, he himself was part of those reforms – in fact the amenments MS-RW govt succeeded inthe parliament during the last 3.5 years. As if he is reborn to react other way around not respecting self-made agreements, is beyond all ethics and morals. Meaning thekind of men would never respect any laws but what he thinks is right.. very dangerous actually.

Thanks to those great changes such as the indpendent commissions, we the one behind the democracy are winners to enjoy it as court decisions were made suspending the PMiership and cabinet yesterday so as 3 weeks ago with the suspension of dissolution of parliament.

How would it have been, if those independent had not been passed ?

Then Rajakashe or JULIAMPITYA amare or former MARUSIRA or the like personalities could easily abuse this cowdung eating majorities.

Please remember presidency is not your inherited property. Lately, you seem suffering from some mental sickness. Better seek treatment ASAP.

You are duty bound to act according to the provisions of the constitution and it’s amendments. Your ego centric, dictatorial mentality would have suited to first & second world war days. Now democracy has deep rooted in Asia and functioning very well. It’s time for you to go back to your routes gracefully, unless you want to be shown the exit door. Act fast to defuse the constitutional crises you created.

If all 225 were unified to appoint RW then they will first impeach this Mad President. Every card he put on the table since Oct 26 becoming a boomerang and biting him now.

So this drama of I will not appoint Ranil is to save face once the UNP government come back to power. So this Mad President will berate that as a victory for him. I don’t like Ranil, but we as the citizens of this country should not let this Mad President to break the law like Pappadam for his power hungry games.

President is adamant not to give back the job of the PM to Ranil and there must be a sinister reason for it,only Ranil and he knows.
It’s a shame that Ranil is shamed with the bond scam. Perhaps President scared of Ranil for his own interest?

      Nimal,

“President is adamant not to give back the job of the PM to Ranil and there must be a sinister reason for it,only Ranil and he knows.”

Because Ranil F***** Sirisena so hard, his balls get pushed to Sirisena’s brain and thoroughly confuses him, he sees nightmares, and cannot sleep.

Sri Lanka, a Land like No Other, where the PM F**** the President, and the President goes mad. So, the tourists cancel their reservations.

RW was on a rampage in leasing our country’s resources, “gun, stock and barrel”, to foreign conglomerates @ penny rates, and that it seemed was the way-forward strategy of his self proclaimed economic wizardry.
Whilst I do not agree with the bullish attitude of My3 S, it seems that My3 S has suddenly woken up to reality, after almost 3 1/2 years of meek concurrence with the UNP.
Whilst I voted the UNP led common candidate/ the government to power in both the elections in 2015, I’ve really felt ashamed of my exercising of the franchise rights the way I did, since the bond scandal surfaced in July of 2015 ever since the bond scam surfaced with facts. I still cannot comprehend why My3 did not act decidedly in the wake of the Bond scam, and take firm action to punish those culprits. That would have given a high credence to better establish his position as the Executive President of this country, instead, he opted to sit on it.
The actions of My3 S and the so called “coalition government”, further eroded my confidence, and my inner assurance that I exercised my franchise wrights to the best of my country. The UNF led coalition government has in fact made me lose the faith in the current political system in Sri Lanka More than ever.
Political thugs/ Bullies like Lakshman Kiriella, and my batch mate Champika R blowing out political unrealistic targets whilst fooling the nonstrategic President My3 such as getting him to declare open sidewalks (like what he did between the Fort Night Market and the Lake house) on TV are sights so disgusting that I have decided NOT to watch local TV media anymore.
In summary, RW has been observed to the most unpatriotic prime minister with sinister objectives of Sri Lanka, and Any means to remove him should be considered patriotic.

President says other than Ranil he will appoint any one from UNP as a Prime Minister because MR has no majority at the parliament This statement itself proof them the new prime minister MR is illegal.
Why is MR says he will appeal against Court Of appeal Interim Order, is all ministries Acting on the authority of Payment approval Validated

MS is dumber than I thought a Sri Lankan President could ever be. He must be surrounded by pathological idiots (I mean clinically diagnosed) or he is in a month long hallucination. This is extra ordinarily dumbfounding! I am lost for words to describe this guy whom we call the president. Military, Judiciary, Diplomats, anybody help us!!

My parents did not teach me anything about politics or constitutions – sadly, they died when I was quite young – but they did impress on me how very important some virtues were for right living. And among the attributes they prized highly was GRATITUDE. Never forget, they said to me, the good someone has done for you, a favour someone has extended. Maybe, the President’s parents were not like mine in their thinking or, maybe, the President’s outlook is different to mine. For my part, I have not forgotten the words of my parents and have always tried to be grateful for any good turn anyone ever did me.

In short, SL becomes a laughing stock in the eyes of world. A president who doesn’t know what is in the constitution but expected to uphold it, and to say even all MPs supported a candidate to be the PM, he wont nominate is an act of an autocrat. He hasn’t got many votes of his own, he became president with the courtesy of UNP and he challenges UNP.

      Aira,

SL paved its way to become the laughing stock of the world when Banda thought it best to get his block vote by promising the naive, Sinhala Budhhists the entire economic pie – by robbing the minorities of their education and employment opportunities. The down fall from that comedic act has only got worse since then!

If I am a Sinhalese and supporter of President Sirisena/Mahinda Rajapaksa I will go into hiding out of shame. Both MS and MR have no sense of right and wrong. MS dismisses a sitting Prime Minister who had the confidence of the majority of Members of Parliament and appoints Mahinda who had no majority. MS/MR thought they can buy MPs by giving bribes running into many digits. The asking price went up from Rs.30 million to Rs.500 million as claimed by Mullaithivu TNA MP Shanthi Sriskandarajah.
When the number proved difficult MS dissolved the parliament when he had no such powers.
MS is holding the country to ransom. He is pushing the country over the cliff. He is acting like an estranged husband relentlessly going after his wife. on a murder spree!

Rs 500M, hmm, can only pity the voter.

One good thing comes out of all this is that the Tamil and Muslim MPs haven’t sold them cheaply as MR thought. The collaborators (MS and MR) thought once MR is nominated as PM, a good number of MPs would be easily bought, either with a poultry amount of Rs 30M or some ministerial posts. They were proven to be wrong this time, hope this will teach them a good lesson that the market conditions are unpredictable. Their bloodless coup followed by building up majority by buying MPs before the sitting of the parliament didn’t work out as planned. Now, it is likely that MS might hit the wicket and walkaway, if he doesn’t still like RW’s face. Remember, this same MS before promised to eradicate corruption and restore the law and order. How does poaching MPs with this kind of money sits with him?. Looks both MS and MR posses same attitude about corruption, they don’t give a damn about it. Let the fittest to rule by hook or by crook. MS doesn’t seem to have any remorse as to what he does to the Country.
