In The Spirit Of Tolerance And Peace, A Happy New Year To All Our Contributors And Readers !

In the spirit of tolerance and peace, Colombo Telegraph wish, all our contributors and readers a Happy New Year!

I would like to say two things — one intellectual and one moral. The intellectual thing I should want to say to them is this; when you are studying any matter or considering any philosophy, ask yourself only what are the facts and what is the truth that the facts bear out. Never let yourself be diverted either by what you wish to believe or by what you think would have beneficent social effects if it were believed, but look only and solely at what are the facts. That is the intellectual thing that I should wish to say.

The moral thing I should wish to say to them is very simple — I should say love is wise, hatred is foolish. In this world, which is getting more and more closely interconnected, we have to learn to tolerate each other. We have to learn to put up with the fact that some people say things that we don’t like. We can only live together in that way, and if we are to live together and not die together, we must learn a kind of charity and a kind of tolerance which is absolutely vital to the continuation of human life on this planet

Thank you! Hope CT will be able to give more alternative views in coming year. I appreciate your impartiality. Love is wise, hatred is foolish. Never let yourself be diverted either by what you wish to believe or by what you think would have beneficent social effects if it were believed, but look only and solely at what are the facts!!!

      Happy holidays.

For a change I am indeed refreshed by sane voice of a Conscientious Objector.

The professional war mongers on both sides of the divide need to listen to this clip.

To see through an year globally characterised by economic, social and political turmoil and usher in one, hopefully, that may usher in the New Year with greater joy and peace the choice of the philosophical thoughts of Lord Russell – a giant among men in the 20th century – is a splendid one. In Russell’s message one sees those ingredients that
great men, down the ages, have identified as those essential to produce peace, joy and happiness in mankind – reason, justice, love, compassion and tolerance. This great teacher and humanist advocates the abhorrence of hatred as he made the headlines in the 1960s in his campaign against Nuclear proliferation. His sharp warnings against MAD (mutually assured destruction) to both power blocs then was as true then as it is now and in the future.

I do not wish to comment on his remarks on morality – an area in which he left much room for speculation in his private life.

Wish CT and those making it what it is, the very best in the new year. I hope we continue to learn of issues, hear the opinion of others and let others know what we think, unhindered in the coming year. CT , I hope will continue to be the vehicle and lynch pin for this journey. I also hope that websites like CT in Sinhalese and Tamil will come on line early on in this new year.

welldone CT… and congratulations for having survived the onslaught of few fake journalists the imposters and the modayas {the pseudos} who contributes regularly through their backsides instead of the use of their brains. May the true democracy prevail in our beloved land of milk and honey and among very few websites as CT where one is confident to express. Good luck in 2013.

Hard working CT Jornos and their support Staff have done a tremendous job in 2012,to provide this platform for people who care about Srilanka to put forward their views.

These views may be moulded by straight forward affection for the motherland and her inhabitants, and see them get ahead in their lives , providing for their dependents, without having to beg and borrow.

Others may express views which are driven by anger and hatred.

As Mr Russell says we have to learn to live together and put up with the fact that some people may say thinhgs that we don’t like like.

Hope CT will keep up thier good work, and wish its staff a healthy and happy 2013.

providng a platform for to accomodate the different views of different group
