By Vishwamithra –
“A mind all logic is like a knife all blade. It makes the hand bleed that uses it.” ~ Ravindranath Tagore
The old Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) was notorious for its exhibitionistic approach to politics in general and to electioneering in particular. In fact, it was not only the JVP, most of the mainstream political parties depended heavily on these mass rallies to which they transported men and women in massive numbers to their political rallies, firstly to satisfy themselves that a huge crowd attended their rallies to listen to their voices (not speeches) and secondly to challenge their opponents that they still could draw massive crowds to a given rally in a given electorate. This is basically an exhibitionistic element in all their campaigning process. Who gets hoodwinked and who does not is a very distressing component in this savage enterprise.
But today we are dealing with a totally new reality, a completely new context. The social media has shrunk the electorate into a tiny screen on your Smartphone. Transmission of information and dissemination of propaganda and counter-propaganda has become instant; virtually within minutes of the occurrence of an event, its spread within millions who hold in their palms a cellular phone is confirmed and even spreading a counter piece to that particular piece of propaganda; this reality has been astounding and the transmission is even more. IT technology has made mainstream media anachronistic; not only the IT-savvy younger generation, even those who are in the evening phase of life depend on this function of the modern-day wonder for their information and knowledge. Research of a subject, its counter theories, its relevance to the current circumstances and its use and abuse become unbelievably simple, effortless and blistering.
This is the background against which political campaigns of today are being launched, sustained and concluded. The digital technocracy has penetrated into the election world and one cannot help but embrace it and use it to one’s own advantage. Those who do not avail themselves of this twenty first century wonder would eventually be left in the lurch, sulking away with not even any residue left to lick. Yet what the digital revolution can do and the depths it could penetrate into are limited and undeniably tangible.
In election campaigning, a clever manager would always depend on a solid approach that would be as flawless as possible provided he or she has a sufficient number of competent and committed staff personnel and the technical wherewithal to execute such an un-flawed exercise. This is where the current National People’s Power (NPP) should pay its undiluted attention to- the Ground Game.
Has each and every household in a given Grama Niladhari division been paid a visit to by its activists and if so how many times? No number of visits are too many. They must do it despite the number is bordering on an utter nuisance to the householder. Usually door-to-door visits by the supporters of a particular party whose candidate/s are representing the country or that particular electorate is often left for the last moment. Given the pace at which time passes during a whirlwind election campaign, that last moment would have passed when the actual time comes. Fore-planning is always the right strategy in any human endeavor, so is it in electioneering. All other aspects of the campaign, such as mass rallies, posters, road shows, leaflets and even pocket meetings are second to house-to-house campaign.
The gist of this exercise is that a representative/s of a particular party need to address as small a crowd as possible in an intimate setting. This setting is facilitated firstly by small pocket meetings held in a homestead of a householder with no more than 100 to 200 persons attending and secondly by door-knocking, a strenuous house-to-house campaign with material that consists of clearly and wisely crafted election-related literature. That piece of literature must be left at the household so visited.
Information emerging to date is that the NPP is focusing on this aspect of electioneering with adequately staffed experts and general staff. The whole idea is to make the group or number of people that need to be either converted or reassured to vote for the particular party as small as possible. It becomes unbelievably easy if such a number is within a realistic level. It is always easier to speak and convince ten persons than a hundred or a thousand. It’s one hundred percent a management exercise. Politicians don’t realize this for they could always be carried away by tens of thousands of men and women attending their mass rallies.
When studying the current crop of politicians and their parties, the United National Party (UNP), Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) and Pohottuwa (SLPP), one finds that the so-called traditional mainstream political parties have had enormous experience in this game. Since 1947-Elections in which the UNP emerged as the party that enjoyed a plurality amongst the voters, the left wing parties and right-of-center parties have used these elections as an unequally powerful vehicle for state-power. In every one of those elections held since, the country voted. They alternated one clan of corrupt and incompetent politicians with another; both segments represented the same class of men; they chose to exploit the most democratic means to select their rulers while those who voted opted to repose trust and faith in their party or men and women.
It has been the lamentable story of our people. They have been deceived by politicians, driven to cruel extremities by some fundamentalist Buddhist monks and then being at the end of the brutalities of contra religious fundamentalists of Islam and Hinduism; they have been exploited by an irresponsible and avaricious private sector businessmen; then at the same time these same people of the remotest rural hamlets and suburban slums and shanty-filled population centers are transported to the so-called people’s rallies by their own electorate representatives. Generation after generation ever since 1947, voted for a set of charlatans whose only obsession was staying in power and making money for themselves. The country’s citizenry became willing victims of a vicious cycle of deceit.
Corruption had become a vehicle of sustenance for the politicians and oiling that savage instrument was made easy by a consenting electorate. Debasing and desecrating a 2500 year old culture occurred without the knowledge of both parties, politician the aggressor and voter the victim. The politician transacted many lucrative deals during the day and attended cocktail parties and lavish dinner functions in star-class restaurants and hotels. There wasn’t a single man or woman, or one couldn’t find a solitary brave man amongst the ordinary folks to put a halt to the turning of this vicious circle. It has been turning on its own inner strength whose initium couldn’t be traced to any single politician or government.
Nevertheless, one cannot exonerate oneself by declaring ignorance of facts. Such appeal would fall flat on grounds in the midst of an educated and technically alert generation at whose fingertips are the tools of modern-day inventions. Personal computers PCs), Smartphones and other platforms that have been created thanks to the advancement in the IT field have made every deed and thought of the previous generation outdated and redundant.
Scattering a bundle of prefabricated falsehoods and nonsensical arguments through the state-owned media instruments such as television and radio and mainstream newspapers are not the sources the current generation is pursing in order to enrich themselves with real facts and real episodes in Parliament or in other enclaves of power and prestige. Employment of crafty IT-savvy technically advanced younger men and women is expensive. Nor is it easy to attract such talent towards the government that shows every sign of decay and deceit. The private sector and self-employed individuals would volunteer to provoke and pursue more compassionate leaders and politicians.
At a macro level the NPP has been successful in throwing out to the open their top leadership; NPP’s top leadership has had its faulty steps every now and then but the trend seems to have stopped. A more disciplined and self-imposed control has had its desired salutary effects. Uncontrolled vociferousness, as was displayed by Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka in 2009 is ample testimony to what should not be uttered during an election campaign. When the people have fine-tuned their auditory sensitivities, when they have enhanced their intensity on their own volition, during an election campaign, one must be more careful about what one does not give expression to than what one must.
Such self-imposed discipline is applicable not only to what is said on grand platforms, it is even more germane in small pocket meetings and house-to-house campaign. Sajith Premadasa is more interested in expressing his inner vulnerabilities and frustrations in his platform speeches. Lack of empathy and total void of knowledge of the electorate’s demands and cravings is more than vividly shown in Sajith’s speeches. Whereas Ranil Wickremasinghe has never been known as even a mediocre speaker, his utterances are most listened to by the media hawks as any declaration by the incumbent President is more than an ordinary statement by an ordinary politician. In order to gauge Ranil’s mind, one must always listen to what is latent in his apparently cryptic speeches.
Anura Kumara Dissanayake is a different entity. What oozes out is a cascade of empathy, a flow of honesty and humility all wrapped in a cloak of unquestionable simplicity. Is he ready for the ground game? Has he prepared his soldiers for an excruciatingly painful 24-hour job of hunting for votes and ensuring that those potential votes are cast on the election day. If he can ensure that, then he will emerge the day after election as a simple yet proud leader who has mastered not the craft of electioneering but convincing an electorate beyond all doubts and suspicion. What follows is yet another matter altogether.

Then, there is the matter of 300 psi water pumps used in 500 AD at Sigiriya, as Lester points out. These were not ordinary pumps, but stealth ones, totally invisible. Be careful what you write next time.

PS,
One doesn’t need a private “higher education ” to be able to tell a pump from a siphon, or have the sense not to claim that the Poruguese occupied Kandy ,using a time machine, and were ousted by the Dutch .
/

OC
Please enlighten me on this running joke about a 300psi pump in 500AD at Sigiriya.
I hope you realize that 300 psi is almost 21 bar.
What was it used for?
What was its power source?
What was the flow rate?
What technology was used to drive it?
At that time, the Archimedean screw was the pinnacle of technology, capable of lifting water against gravity. However, without engines or motors to drive it, the pressures generated were very low.
/
old codger / July 23, 2024
HT,
In case you missed it, Lester claims there is a pool at the top of Sigiriya that never runs dry, and, therefore, there must be some ancient technology behind it. He calculated that a 300 psi pump is needed to get the water up there, and implies that it’s still working. After much ribbing from me and LS, he said that the system has only to attain 300 psi at the start, after which it wouldn’t need any energy (like a siphon), which is why it’s still running, presumably.
/
Lester / July 23, 2024
Human Touch,
You are slow. OC is a liar. Ask him to quote exactly, he can’t do it. I never said ancient Sinhalese engineers used a 300 psi pump. I simply said they managed to overcome the 300 psi pressure using multiple pumps.
I also said that the volume of water in the pool is a constant 288.992 cubic meters or so even during the dry season. This is enough water to supply an average household for around 578 days. So its reasonable to ask how the pool can maintain this volume of water by relying on rainfall alone.
By the way, OC said Sigiriya was designed by Indians. He also said Sinhalese are descended from Tamils. These are his own words. The man is playing you like a wet rag.
/
Lester / July 23, 2024
Here is exactly what I said:
“You cannot obtain a continuous water flow at an elevation of 180 m without some kind of pump mechanism. Without valves and some kind of drainage system, the pool would have been flooded during the rainy season.”
https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/buddhist-revolutionist-in-the-making-kekirawe-sudassana-thero/
The lying rat is barking about a 300 psi pump and siphon, which I never mentioned. A pump mechanism refers to several pumps working together. That’s why the dirty rat can’t give the exact quote. He keeps barking the same rubbish to spam the CT website.
Now take the rat at his own words:
old codger / June 17, 2024
Some people forget that Sigiriya was built by an Indian contractor. The locals were still in the Stone Age.
/
LankaScot / July 23, 2024
Hello Lester,
First of all the drainage system on the top of Sigiriya is still there I have seen the channels myself. Personally I think the water was flown up by helicopter – joke. No I think the water will have been lifted mechanically by ropes and pulleys to supplement the storage during dry seasons. Sri Lanka was not in the Stone Age in 500 BC. The Iron Age arrived sometime before Buddhism in Anuradhapura around 900 BCE or so. These are possibly the same people mentioned in the Mahavamsa, however although Dr Robin Coningham found Brahmi Script in Anuradhapura that preceded Asokan times it is very scant and has only been provisionally dated. One thing that we don’t know is how many people occupied the Palace area on the top, or if it was mainly Ceremonial. Given the extent of the Gardens and Buildings on the ground area around the rock I would go for the Ceremonial or Defensive use in times of attack. By the way where is the evidence that the Indians built Sigiriya?
Best regards
/
Lester / July 23, 2024
Hello LankaScot,
Good observation about pulleys. While the Mahavamsa does not provide extensive technical details, the name “Karkataka” or “Crab” suggests a machine that might have had claw-like or grappling mechanisms, possibly resembling the pincers of a crab, to lift and move heavy objects. Some people also say there was a wooden lift that went from top to bottom.
/
LankaScot / July 23, 2024
Hello Lester,
There may have been a lift on Sigiriya, but I for one would nor have set foot in it. My brother and I discovered an old one in an old Stately Home that he was helping to renovate. It went all the way from the Servants Quarters to the Dining Hall (a Dumb Waiter). So we gave it a try, he went inside and I pulled on the rope. It got stuck a little bit between floors until he kicked the obstruction out of the way. There was no fall-arrester mechanism, but the Counterweight was still attached which helped a little, so I had to keep pulling until he reached the top. They are normally used to bring food up and down, not a 12 stone man. Quite a struggle (3 floors), but we have all done stupid things.
So I suggest that we have all had a good laugh about Sigiriya and until I either get my Hard Hat and Boots on, or find a Knowledgeable Archaeologist I will refrain from commenting about Sigiriya 😉.
Best regards

Is any more proof necessary of who the liar is?
I don’t like doing this to anyone, even Lester, but he asks for it.
/
Lester / July 23, 2024
Again, referring to the person with some mental condition. He doesn’t understand the concept of division.
Yes, it is theoretically possible for multiple pumps to overcome the initial 300 psi pressure barrier in subsequent stages of elevation, even in ancient times, by incrementally increasing the pressure at each stage. Here’s how this could conceptually work:
Conceptual Mechanism
Stage-by-Stage Pressurization:
Initial Stage: The first pump would lift the fluid to a certain height or pressure, significantly below 300 psi.
Intermediate Storage: The output from the first pump would be collected in an intermediate tank or reservoir. This tank would need to be able to handle the pressure output from the first stage.
Sequential Pumping:
Subsequent Pumps: The fluid from the intermediate tank would then be fed into a second pump, which would increase the pressure further.
Multiple Stages: This process would be repeated through multiple stages, with each pump incrementally increasing the pressure.
Intermediate Tanks:
Pressure Stabilization: Each intermediate tank would act as a pressure stabilizer, ensuring that the output from one pump is consistently fed into the next.
Strengthened Tanks: These tanks would need to be robustly constructed to handle the pressures at each stage without failing.
/
old codger / July 23, 2024
“Strengthened Tanks: These tanks would need to be robustly constructed to handle the pressures at each stage without failing.”
What a lot of utter rubbish! He probably got this from ChatGPT. 🤣🤣🤣
The pressure in each tank would depend ONLY on the height difference between its top and bottom. Not even the tank at the top would have 300 psi. Only a column of water 691 feet high would measure 300psi at its bottom.
“This process would be repeated through multiple stages, with each pump incrementally increasing the pressure.”
What garbage! This guy implies that water pressure in a tank rises with its height above the ground!
All pumps would handle the same pressure, say 30 psi for each of 10 stages.
Lester, for the last time, talk about something you know. A fake degree in quantum mechanics doesn’t qualify you you to talk real Mechanics. Even a high school kid would tell you that if you have two 32- foot deep tanks at the top and bottom of Sigiriya, both tanks would have a pressure of 14 psi at their bases.
Idiot!
None of the above is to prove that Kashyapa had even 30 psi pumps.
/
old codger / July 23, 2024
Lester dear
“The lying rat is barking about a 300 psi pump “
In these parts, rats don’t bark. Do the rats in the University of Wilpattu wag their tails too? As HT suggested, there may be high-speed evolution going on.🤣🤣🤣🤣
/
Human Touch / July 23, 2024
Lester
As far as the calculation goes, you are correct!
If you are pumping water in one go you will need to generate 300Psi at the foot of the rock to climb the 660ft height.
But the question is what kind of pumps could have been used even if they were used in series?
Where are they now?
What was the source of energy?
Most importantly, what was the required flow rate to keep the tank filled at all times?
.
If we examine the water availability in the tank atop the rock, could it be plausible that the water consumption for activities at the top was only a fraction of the tank’s capacity? Perhaps rainwater played a crucial role in replenishing the tank to compensate for this usage. Imagine if rainwater from a sufficiently large catchment area was directed into the tank.
.
If the tank’s surface area was designed to minimize evaporation during dry seasons, then it seems conceivable that rainwater alone could suffice to maintain adequate water levels.
/
old codger / July 23, 2024
HT,
“then it seems conceivable that rainwater alone could suffice to maintain adequate water levels.”
Exactly, also the rainfall was probably greater 1500 years ago. There is no need to speculate about pumps.
/
LankaScot / July 23, 2024
Hello Human Touch,
“Imagine if rainwater from a sufficiently large catchment area was directed into the tank”. All fine but you still have to get it up to the top.
I have contacted one of the Sri Lankan experts on Ancient Sri Lankan Water Management Systems Dr. P.B. Dharmasena. Hopefully he will point us in the right direction.
Best regards
/
old codger / July 23, 2024
HT,
“Where are they (the pumps) now?
Lester’s implication is that they are still operating, since they don’t require any energy ” after overcoming the initial 300 psi pressure “.
You see why Lester is a running joke? He doesn’t know to quit gracefully when his game is up.
/
Lester / July 23, 2024
Human Touch,
“If you are pumping water in one go” does not accurately represent what I said. I did not suggest that water is pumped in one continuous motion from the bottom to the top. Instead, I explained that the water moves from the bottom to the top through some pumping mechanism, which operates within the framework of an intermediate storage system. Furthermore, I made no reference to a 300 PSI pump, which never existed.
“If the tank’s surface area was designed to minimize evaporation during dry seasons, then it seems conceivable that rainwater alone could suffice to maintain adequate water levels.”
At that elevation, and given the high humidity, the water level should at least decrease during periods of prolonged drought. What is amazing about this (artificial) pool: it has retained virtually the same water level for 1600 odd years. Meanwhile, the water level of the Panama Canal, also man-made, has decreased significantly due to global warming & drought. Rainwater is no guarantee these days; even the natural lakes are drying up.

Nathan,
.
I listened very conscientiously and carefully to that interview again. LankaScot and you are two of the most balanced and and responsible commenters on this site. You will see that he, too, has had much to say about the interview.
.
You will notice that I had myself found this interviewer, Jayamal Ratnayake, rather too tame. However, there are some interviews which are meant to convey views, and not to grill the interviewee. At this time, we need to listen carefully to the few decent and honest politicians whom we have got to ascertain where they stand.

I have no real complaint against you, but I have serious reservations about my erstwhile friend who sent me chocolates.

SM,
“And that is despite finding that the phrase, “nature identical vanilla flavour” must also be given some thought to.”
You shouldn’t worry too much about these things. There are many more “nature identical things” which are sold on the market:
Vinegar made from synthetic acetic acid
Aspirin
Paracetamol
Metformin
Insulin from pigs
And many more drugs which were originally derived from plants or animals.
/
old codger / July 21, 2024
SM,
Everything synthetic is not necessarily bad for you. You wear clothing made of synthetic fibre, I am sure. The fact that it comes from the gooey residue left at the bottom of a refinery vessel after making fuel shouldn’t bother you.

OC and LS,
Be careful giving gifts to anyone if you don’t know the person’s psychology well:
–
I was speechless for the umpteenth time as I read about the his restless thoughts. I also share this with my SL friends around the world, that they should think twice before sending anything to some senior citizens of my home country.
.
My instant assumption was that he was used to receiving such gifts from his own sisters in Australia and elsewhere. If SM had bold-cursive-emoji-filled comments (but not inappropriately) to CT, most of them were about his family and the rich background he comes from.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the remotest information that the person had ever gotten anything like that from anyone. So I feel sorry for him today.
–
If I gifted something it was with the best of intentions. Surprisinngly, he had the audacity to accuse me of being too patronizing. However, what became clear was that some people rarely get things and it can damage them psychologically.

I don’t think you get the remote thinking of the toxic mentality of some senior citizens of our motherland. You may further talk to your immediate family in Sri Lanka and clear your doubts. We also need to talk to university professors about this subject. That is the main hidden reason why our nation is stuck somewhere with anything that addresses public good. It’s part of their vicious cycle (Karma). They are complete dupes who are constantly misled by their colonial, religious, mythological and demonic forces rather than focusing on the facts at hand.
–
The course of some measures resembles the torments of Tantalus. Before their eyes, the last step disappears. Also, the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund are coming back after the 16th time without being able to fulfill them.
Nevertheless, they always point fingers at others, but not knowing how to resolve any progressive step ´.
–
Although the nation’s school literacy rate (over 95%) is on par with the mighty Singapore, you may question why our solutions to racial issues, economic revival and all critical issues were not addressed long ago. If you pay close attention to the true nature (what their thinking on national issues) of ordinary people in our country, I have no doubt, you will understand all the stumbling blocks sooner than you think.
/
LankaScot / July 21, 2024
Hello Leelagemalli,
I am well aware of the toxicity of some older people (and some younger) in Sri Lanka, however I don’t think that this can be classified as their “true nature” if such a thing exists.
There are times that you can observe the behavior of a 3 or 4 year old child and make predictions about their likely future. Sometimes you will be right, however people can be unpredictable and change over time, even in older age.
It took less than a generation in the UK to make drink driving socially unacceptable. More entrenched social outlooks may take longer. Having said that I find the reluctance of Sri Lankans to question Authority on a personal level quite mysterious. e.g. not asking the Doctor for his diagnosis or what is on the prescription. There are many other examples.
I suspect religion may have a role to play in this, just like my Grandfather’s generation was told not to question their elders. Our generation questioned them constantly, hence the decline of the Church of Scotland. In the 2011 census, 32% of Scots ticked “Church of Scotland”, falling behind the total of those without religion for the first time.
Best regards

LS,
“I find Sri Lankans’ reluctance to question authority on a personal level very mysterious. For example, not questioning a doctor’s diagnosis or what’s in a prescription. There are many other examples.”
I found out last time, one elderly patient of us was given Plavix (an antiplatelet drug) for longer than it was supposed to. Doctors don’t seem to use ” legible handwriting” on medical prescriptions (this is not even taken serious by anyone as of today). When contacted, the pharmacist (untrained or not adequately trained for the job) did not apologize for the big mistake. I wanted to complain, but my relatives in Sri Lanka insisted it is normal in Sri Lanka.
.
This is the reality, so how dare they question the disease? today’s generations can be different. They dare to raise it in front of the traffic police as well. Police was not interogated by people those days.
Even today, the medical profession in Sri Lanka is held in high esteem. However, the quality of service cannot be estimated. Many doctors consulted me for minor issues and did not care much about the patient’s side. My Kenyan and Ethiopian friends share the same thing with me. It is the same in India and Pakistan. Anyway, our people don’t seem to care about these things.

In Germany, France and Switzerland it is just a job. Patients are kept as the main attraction. All because they are fully insured and they pay monthly installments. Doctors suffer a lot. I know this from my family and the colleagues I work with. They constantly complain about their job.

To ask questions effectively, one must possess the capacity for rational thinking. However, many individuals, even those who are educated, often lack this ability, which hinders their ability to ask meaningful questions.
Culturally, questioning things logically is often discouraged and seen as taboo by our elders. This conditioning starts from childhood, shaping a mindset where questioning is not encouraged or normalized.

There is a difference being literate and being educated, especially grounded properly in the sciences.
Sri Lankans maybe able to read and write, but that doesn’t mean the majority of us have used our reading skills to learn applied science and technology and upgrade our understanding of the world in general.
Besides that they say in the 21st century, being literate is about learning, unlearning and relearning, this is because the technology changes so fast that you have to be quick to change with the times. This is a concept that is very alien to us Sri Lankans.
We think everything we hold in our little heads is absolute.
Some people may know a little and are happy stewing in their ignorance all their lives thinking that a bit of grammar will make all ends meet.

HT,
This is what I have to think of every time I am forced to read something by SINHALA_MAN who does not seem to have a proper command of the SINGHALA LANGUAGE but questions the misuse of the term “Mahinda” by MaRa and his political propaganda of the last 20 years.
*
If I do not know about surgery or some terms in toxicology, I had better refrain from speaking about it publicly, surprisingly SM or similar self-proclaimed experts carry on.
*
Mihin/Mihindu/and Mahinda enjoy special recognition in SINGHALA BUDDHIST LITERATURE. This has been abused by Rajapaksa Megalos for years.
*
So I have singled it out in some of my recent comments to differentiate its meaning. This has been trickfully applied by MaRa in his propaganda. He is wrong, his behavior is wrong just like his hair is wrong (it never turns grey even if Gota’s does).

Hello Leelagemalli,
This link worked. It is a fascinating look at what Darwin proposed way back after the Beagle expedition. Anyone that does not accept evolution as a fact should read Rosemary and Peter’s book. There has always been debate about the speed of Evolution; Stephen Jay Gould and Niles Eldredge proposed that the rate could change calling it “Punctuated Equilibrium” way back in 1972. I read the brilliant “Wonderful Life” (around 1990) about the Cambrian explosion and the fossils from the Burgess Shale.
Here is a link to what Niles thinks nowadays – https://reflectionsonpaperspast.wordpress.com/2020/07/23/revisiting-eldredge-and-gould-1972/

Besides evolution, the advent of computers has accelerated our ability to process information faster. This increased speed has driven the creation of even faster computers, leading to an exponential acceleration in processing power. Now, with the breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence (AI), this trend is set to further accelerate information processing and transformation.
For those who resist change, clinging to rigidity actually means falling behind in a world that is constantly evolving. Soon, AI may be capable of writing genomes, using software to generate DNA sequences that are not only more efficient but also better adapted to our rapidly changing environment.
It’s worth noting that the first artificial life form was created in a U.S. lab back in 2008, using approximately 500,000 base pairs. This single-celled organism demonstrated all the basic functions of life once its synthetic cells were activated. By contrast, humans possess 3,000,000,000 base pairs in our DNA sequence. However, it won’t be long before AI advances to the point of synthesizing complex lifeforms in the near future.

I believe the explanation is quite straightforward:
The Buddha identified ignorance as the root cause of our suffering. He explained that ignorance leads to greed, which compels us to grasp and cling to things—whether material possessions, status, or even our own ideas. This attachment extends beyond physical objects to the concepts and beliefs we hold dear.
Despite teaching that change is the only constant in life and the universe, the Buddha observed that we often resist this truth. Our tendency to grasp and hold on tight leads us into a cycle of suffering known as samsara. In this cycle, driven by ignorance, we repeatedly experience dissatisfaction and discontent.
To break free from samsara, the Buddha taught that we must relinquish greed and diminish our ignorance. By letting go of attachments—both material and conceptual—we can transcend the cycle of suffering and find liberation.

2) Dr Safi saga (even MBBS doctors were among them to convince the stupid nation that fallopian tube suppressioni could easily be done in the operating room by Dr Safi).

3) The Easter Sunday disaster (this could have well be avoided happening)
4) Kandy riots before an annual session of the UN Human Rights Council (2016 or so?)
5) Attacking churches to show that they are targeted by mobs… who are the mobs if not SARATH WEERASEKARA et al ( President SIrisena publicly confessed it).
6) The monk of Mangalarama behaving like a mad monk
7) Basil was acquitted of the theft of controversial land property (although everything was clear).

Hello the perverted joker leelagemalli,
.
MBBS doctors are not trained to do surgeries, expecially the ones like C-sections, except perhaps minor OPD surgeries, that boil down to wound dressing.
.
But it seems like Dr. Shafi has done plenty of them – LSCS.
.
Under whose supervision and authority?
.
Who trained him? Where?
.
Was the training provided structured and above all legitimate?
.
Does it give him the authority to perform LSCS?
.
Should have been among many questions that should have been raised in relation to this event.
.
But yes, sri Lankans being mostly stupid idiots like you and the other members of your little racist perverted gang here, never did raise them – neither the journos nor anyone else, the politicians and public included.
.
That said making a woman during either LSCS or Tube ligation procedure appears to be a simple, allthough surreptitiously, commonly practiced procedure.
.
It appears to be done by rubbing the ovaries with a swab soaked in alcohol, making them no longer viable.
.
Whether Shafi engaged in this practice I do not know.
.
But the idea that a surgeon couldn’t have done it (making a woman stetile during LSCS or Ligation of Tubes procedure) is not true.
.
It could be done.
.
It is being done.
.
I already know 4 victims of this inhuman practice.

I followed Rishi Sunak’s fortunes from the time Boris Johnson had to be replaced. Throughout, Rishi ☺emphasised how much family meant for him. ☼ It was time for the Conservatives to leave, but I always thought of Rishi☺ as a decent man.✍

However, “family” had quite different connotations in Lanka; the perpetuation of dynasties has had unfortunate consequences for us. Hello SM,
This was not an Interview as most in the UK would understand it. In my opinion it was a facilitation to provide a platform for the NPP. I don’t think the Interviewer asked a single difficult question. As for her mention of Sri Lankan Embassies, does she not know that they are completely useless in protecting Workers. In Qatar Pilipina women are paid much more than Sri Lanka women doing exactly the same job. Their Embassy insists on how much will be paid to workers. She also did not give a commitment to abolish the Online Safety Law or any other Draconian Laws that have been implemented. Just a vague “our Lawyers are looking at this”. In the UK interviewers would have been scrutinising the Party’s Manifesto and questioning them on specific policies. I know that you have good interviewers like Chamuditha, but we need many more like him.

Hello SM,
Have a look at Jeremy Paxman (BBC Newsnight interviewing the weaselly Michael Howard – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqU77I40mS0
He asked Howard the same question multiple times.
It is always worth remembering John Humphrey’s (BBC Radio 4) quote about interviewing politicians “Why is this Lying B*stard lying to me?” Politicians have an agenda that is not easily brought to the surface unless the interviewer asks probing questions. I have often watched Shameer Rasoldeen interviewing and been disappointed with his lack of pertinent questions. Here is an example of him interviewing Sajith Premadasa in 2020. It seemed very sycophantic to me, but maybe he is constrained by the TV Stations Editorial Policies?

OC,
AKD also makes jokes on the “bond scam” in his stage performances in Japan. Those days SIRASA made the drama for them and it became the people’s most favourite gossip and now it became the “fake public percetpion” that will last forever. UNP was marginlized by this issue, even if truths stay aside. That was also the ulterior motive for Rajapakshe political survival. And they won the elecitons. Also the country became the bankrupted state by July 2022.
.
AKD said to an audience in Japan yesterday that “I also collected two files from Ranil”. If politicians can be punished the way these JOKERs challenge, many countries would have overtaken us.

The truth is that, at that time this AKD himself as the executive appointed by the good governance government to handle the issue had selected only 40 files out of 400 (10%) to file court cases.Lanken judiciary rejected all of them in the course of time. … how come ? if they were filed with sufficient evidences ?
I think we should stand against the corrupt but not to make fasle promises that it is easy to punish them. Countries take decades to punish corrupted politicians.
However AKD tries to do the job overnight similar to GOTA’s overnight organic agriculture campaign which caused a big mess in the country at all levels.

To me it’s another myth spread by Rajapakse thugs along with Sirasa TV to frame RW and UNP.

If it was found in Europe, the politicians would have already been jailed. However, there is no shortage of true crimes in Sri Lanka, once known as the pearl of Asia.

Please ask yourself, if that is true, why on earth is singapore state not paying the slightest attention to it.

I ve been to singapore 25 times or more, and I know they are very strict with the implementation of law and order to their citizens.
The alleged bank governor, Arjuna Mahendran, originally a Sri Lankan but later became a Singaporean. He had no whatsoever any stains in his CV before he joined the central bank in 2015.

Although many strike me as Pro-RW, that is my million dollar question. Pundit in and out of CT become silent when ever I raise this here.

Hello Leelagemalli,
Regarding Dr Shafi, I told my wife, as soon as I heard about it, that it was a complete fabrication. It took me a while to persuade her, but she realises now just how much lies they have been fed in the past. It was the same with the Covid Virus and Cremation – complete fabrication with no evidence to back it up. Even the WHO assurance was ignored by these Islamophobic racists.

Former President Sirisena further said that as President he signed and finalized some documents with 20,000 or more signatures to COLLECT the alleged Bank Governor, a Singaporean. Can you imagine?
This is like we were told “that breast milk is made from mother’s own blood”… any big lie can become a myth of the general public if the MEDIA does not make an effort to clear the doubts.
–
Where in the world does someone sign so many documents for one single issue?
–
The Sri Lankan press as usual (despite boasting as investigative journalists) did not even react to it.
–
This is how it goes in the mainstream media of Sri Lanka. It is not comparable to VOX News, but it is the number one mafia network in which the Rajapakshes have invested the most.

Bond scam was nothing but a bit of insider trading that had been in practice for some time in the past when the central bank was buying currency in exchange for bonds.
The interest rates were often negotiated and sometimes through a bit of clever insider trading some people got a bit better interest rate.
But what blew everything out of proportion in respect to the 2015 “bond scam” was the vivid imagination of the bloody JVP and basically their ignorance.
Recently the same JVP buggers came out to tell us that the loss was about 11 million USD from the bond scam.
They are now telling us that Sri Lanka is losing 1 billion + USD through Adani wind energy project. So you can understand their vicious nature of using propaganda and playing dumb purposely to drive home a point massively multiplied amongst the stupid masses.

Hello Human Touch,
I have had a quick look at the evidence regarding the Bond Scam. Yes you are right that there were examples before the 2015 episode, however there hasn’t been any detailed investigation of them.
My first impressions of the 2015 scam, which I think was a real (not imaginary) scam, are that it was Insider Trading by the Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and his Son in Law Arjun Aloysius of Perpetual Treasuries that made a profit of 11.15 Billion Rupees, out of which they paid back around 8.5 Billion Rupees. The defendants were charged with misappropriation of 15 Billion Rupees. I read the Report and I am still trying to work out Ravi Karunanayake’s role in the affair. I haven’t found any direct evidence yet of Ranil’s involvement.

” I am still trying to work out Ravi Karunanayake’s role in the affair”
Ravi K was found to be living in an apartment supplied to him by Aloysius. In effect, a bribe for approving the 2% hike in interest. He had to resign.
These were 30 year bonds, so Aloysius quickly recouped his money by selling them at a markup to the EPF among others. But the irony is that, a few years later, rates went over 30 %, which made the deal an effective profit to the state.

The Sri Lankan bond scam involved irregularities in the issuance of government bonds where a controversial bond auction in 2015 was allegedly manipulated to favor certain investors, including a company connected to the then Finance Minister.
What really happened was that the Central Bank needed to borrow 10 Billion LKR from investors, but they advertised that they needed 1 Billion LKR.
What usually happens at such auctions is, the issuer announces the auction details, including the amount of bonds to be sold, maturity dates, interest rates, and any special conditions.
Investors submit bids indicating the quantity of bonds they wish to purchase and the yield (interest rate) they are willing to accept. Bids can be competitive (specifying a yield) or non-competitive (accepting the yield determined by the auction).
Bonds are allocated based on the bids, starting with the lowest yield bids (highest price) until the entire issue amount is allocated.
So most bids were very competitive till the 1 billion mark, averaging around 10% Yield.
However when the next set of bids were called it was only Mahendran’s son in law who was able to bid, as he was ready dur to insider information. So the Central Bank had to buy from him at a higher rate of 12% Yield for the next 9 Billion since there was no competition.

It is disheartening that, in addition to their lack of proficiency in English, members of the JVP also demonstrate a deficiency in basic mathematical skills. Let me not even dabble into their strengths in other more complex fields such as modern technology or science.
Whether intentional or unintentional, they often exaggerate issues beyond reason, appealing to the emotions of idiotic people.

Some try to give the impression that Mahendran was not extradited by the Singaporeans because they didn’t think he committed a crime. Therefore interpret as if there was no crime committed in the said (bond) scam. That’s not true. Mahendran wasn’t extradited because Sri Lankan authorities could not provide sifficient evidence in order for the Singaporean gov’t to process an extradition order as per their law. It speaks volumes of the capabilities of local law enforcement agencies and is not an indication of lack of evidence. Singapore is country with laws unkike Sri Lanka they work according to the law. Here any joker withenough political clout make a phone call to a police department and get a person of his or her choice arrested for crimes such person may have never committed. That’s not jow decent country’s operate. Here thw police is used by politicians to meet their personal ends.

My point here is that when Billions have been stolen by the Rajapaksas and the JVP kept quiet, then why did they blow this to high heaven?

I never said that insider trading was not committed, but my point is that the way it has been described as robbing and carting away the contents of the central bank as it was popularized by certain people is not accurate.

Knowing Dubai’s dubious reputation of money laundering, why was an ex Chief Investment Officer, Wealth Management Division of Emirates NBD Bank, Dubai installed as Central Bank Governor, by Maithripala Sirisena shortly after his election win?
Finally what was Basil Rajapakse’s role as he was Finance Minister at the time?

True, the profits earned by PTL were seized by the (succeeding) government. But that Finance Minister was Mahinda, not Basil. Under what law? You’ll have to ask Mahinda.
This was rather strange, because the money involved did NOT belong to the State, but was profit from sales to third parties of bonds bought with Aloysius’ own money (albeit borrowed from the BOC). Very complicated, but not the economy-crashing event some make it out to be.
Mahendran is a Singaporean citizen. The fact that the Sigapore government refuses to extradite him speaks for the quality of “evidence ” supplied by the Sri Lankan side.

Everyone did see when Evil’s home library was burning and remembered the moment when Father David was dying by heart attack, not being able to bear the pain of his first home being burring to ashes. God doesn’t speak Mokan Peiris’ double tongue language, so they called Buddha to burn Tamils’ library, it is the verdict for their library too.

I live on the edge of a Tea Plantation, there is a small Kovil a few hundred yards away and a number of Tamil Families living in poor conditions scattered around the Valley. I see first hand the History of Plantation life here.

Now what is interesting, when Japan occupied Korea, there were many abuses, but it was the Japanese who facilitated an industrial type economy in that country. The estate tamil issue is forever synonymous with beggars’ untreated or forgotten wounds. Elected members of parliament are also not struggling enough for their serious issues. False promises continue as usual.sOME of them are heared only ahead of elections. This is very sad. And as a developing country we have a lot to address. The gap between urban and the rural poor (in terms of living conditions) in general is sky-high. Not only the estate Tamils but also some in the remote areas of the UVA and South who live their whole life in destitute status have not changed over the decades (Sinhalese and Tamils). Politicians drive more than 40-80 million worth vehicles on the costs of tax payers. I wonder why the contrast occurred if democracy as said was there to some level. .
After being elected to the parliament each time, they mostly waste their time as usual. Instead of working towards the pledges, their parliamentary sessions are limited to papers. We only hear that they argue and argue only. I see Tamil and Muslim representatives doing the same, except a handful of them, even if they try to stand out by pointing the finger at others.

Hello Lester,
My Nephew and his Daughter went with us to visit a Tea Factory towards Nuwara Eliya. He is an Oilfield Engineer specialising in Heat Exchangers. Apart from remarking on the age of the Machinery (some nearly 100 years old), he couldn’t believe that they were burning Rubber Trees to provide all the Factories Power. He reckoned that modern Machinery would increase the Efficiency and Productivity by a huge amount and suggested a complete review of the Generation Plant, Dryers, Rollers and Packaging Methods. At the end of our Tour we were taken to the Restaurant/Sales shop where Tea samples could be purchased. They both maintained that they could buy similar teas in the UK at much lower prices. Given this they were shocked at the abysmal pay that the Tea Pickers were paid and couldn’t understand why Sri Lanka didn’t have a Minimum Wage Law.
So Lester can you call for a decent living wage for the Tea Workers and a Minimum Wage for the whole Country?

Hello LankaScot,
It’s a complex issue. The bottom line is that Asia did not need the West to industrialize. Japan industrialized without Western assistance well before WWII. Ultimately, industrialization is the best way to reap the benefits of modern capitalism, but the type of artificial economy created by the British created various inefficiencies that still exist today. You have a similar thing in the USA. Historically, the South of the country had a plantation style economy for a very long time. Based on cotton production. Those regions still contain the poorest areas of the country. Compared with the North which was more industrialized.

Human Touch,
I never said Japan industrialized without the use of Western technology. This is the long answer.
Meiji Restoration: In 1868, the Meiji Restoration brought sweeping political, economic, and social reforms that opened Japan to Western influence and technology. The new government actively promoted industrialization and modernization, including sending students abroad to learn from Western practices.
Feudal System Reforms: Japan transformed its feudal system into a centralized state, consolidating power and resources under the Meiji government. This allowed for coordinated, top-down industrialization efforts compared to more decentralized developing nations.
Emphasis on Education: The Meiji government invested heavily in developing Japan’s educational system, training engineers, scientists, and other technical experts needed to drive industrialization. This built up a skilled workforce to support the industrial transition.
Selective Adoption of Western Technology: Rather than wholesale adoption of Western practices, Japan selectively imported and adapted the industrial technologies and organizational methods most relevant to its context. This pragmatic approach allowed Japan to industrialize efficiently.
Industrialization is a multi-faceted process. You have to train people. Decide what technology is necessary and what isn’t. Sustainability is also critical.Other than some education/training, Japan facilitated this process on its own.

Please not that the British didn’t bring slaves into Sri Lanka to work in plantations.
The Indian Tamils were brought in as paid laborers.
It is important you understand the difference between a slave and a paid laborer.
Are you a slave where ever you are?
Would it be nice if I called you a Sri Lankan Slave in England?

The fact is, many Europeans think Asia would be left in the dust without so-called “European” ingenuity and that this ingenuity can be used to justify colonialism. This is what they are taught in schools in the West. In fact, the reverse is true. Asia would have been better off without European intervention. European intervention created economic distortions, not to mention artificial political structures such as the “Westminister System.”

Hello Lester,
I was never ever taught this in School. At Primary we were taught a little about Buddhism and Hinduism. We even read an abridged version of the Ramayana plus most of Rudyard Kipling’s Books. We never thought of these as being in any way derogatory at the time, we just saw them as good adventure stories.
As our 2nd Gt Grandfather spent 11 years in India (1st War of Independence) many stories were passed down the generations to us.
We learned at Secondary to look more carefully at what was written and of course because we all disliked politicians, we never believed what they said.
While I was in Qatar my friend from Gujarat invited me and my wife to a Diwali Celebration. Neither of us realised at the time that this was a celebration of Rama’s triumph over the Sri Lankan King Ravana. Was It a peaceful place before the Europeans colonised it?
But that’s no excuse for them doing it. So now you can genuinely complain about your Human Rights being abused.
Best regards

What do you really understand by the word “Karma”
I think if you could define your understanding of the word, then we can take our discussion of Karma to the next level.
But in the meantime I suggest you read up on the concept of causality, which has a very strong acceptance in science and mathematics.
Causality refers to the principle of cause and effect. The entire universe works on this principle as a foundation. So think about it, all matter found in nature obey laws of nature by default, even at the quantum level.
Another concept you way wish to brush up on is the 2nd law of thermodynamics, which talks about entropy.
Another solid concept that is never fully understood.
So please define Karma for me in your understanding let us take it from there.
Thanks

Hello Human Touch,
How can I define something that doesn’t exist? You claim it exists, you define it and provide the evidence, of where it resides, who/what keeps the records and who decides when retribution or reward should be dished out.
Using your understanding of Causality can you explain the operation of Tunnel Diodes?
On the 2nd Law Entropy and Enthalpy
1st Law – Energy cannot be created or destroyed only converted from one form to another
2nd Law – Heat can never pass from a colder to a warmer body without some other change, connected therewith, occurring at the same time
I studied the Carnot Cycle and Clausius at University and even made a small Heat Engine using a Copper Coil (Electric) as the Heat Source. We also calculated the functional relationships of Enthalpy/Entropy using a Mollier Diagram and Steam Tables to calculate how much work could be done by a particular expansion etc. My uncle was a Chief Engineer on Oil Tankers and later on built a small Stirling Engine for use on Mini Submarines. He taught me the basics of triple expansion Steam Engines (Piston Types).
Now what has this got to do with Karma?
Best regards

Causality forms the bedrock of scientific inquiry, elucidating how events unfold across diverse disciplines such as sociology, economics, and psychology. It delves into the causal relationships where social, economic, and psychological factors influence specific outcomes through meticulous experiments and observational studies. In the realm of biology, causality governs the intricate interplay between genetic mutations, environmental factors, and biological processes, offering insights into evolutionary dynamics and disease mechanisms.
Conversely, karma, as understood in philosophies like Hinduism and Buddhism, extends the concept of causality into moral and spiritual dimensions. It posits that actions (karma) generate consequences that transcend the physical realm, shaping future experiences based on moral intentions and ethical conduct. While scientific inquiry focuses primarily on empirical causality—establishing links between observable causes and effects—karma broadens this perspective by exploring the profound moral implications of actions across lifetimes.
Thus, while causality serves as a rigorous framework for understanding empirical relationships in scientific research, karma enriches this understanding by incorporating moral and spiritual dimensions of causative actions. Together, they highlight the complex interplay between actions and their repercussions, whether in the observable world of science or the deeper realms of morality and spirituality.

Contrary to the assumption that causality explains how a tunnel diode operates, the example of a tunnel diode is used to challenge causality itself. The phenomenon of negative differential resistance in a tunnel diode is unique and appears not to follow traditional causal relationships such as V=IR.
.
This behavior is rooted in quantum tunneling, where electrons can pass through an energy barrier (depletion region) when the applied voltage surpasses a specific threshold. Quantum mechanics, governing such phenomena, encompasses concepts like entanglement, superposition, and tunneling.
.
Tunneling counterintuitive nature challenges causality because increasing the voltage can paradoxically reduce current flow in certain regions of diode operation. Nevertheless, this effect does not violate causality but operates within probabilistic rules and conserves energy.
.
Thus demonstrating the intricate interplay between classical and quantum physics while maintaining causality.

/
Sinhala_Man / July 21, 2024
Dear “Srilankan Boy”,
.
Thanks to you for listening carefully.
.
I don’t bother too much with the 13th Amendment. It was forced upon us because of the actions of JRJ in 1983.
.
We, Sinhalese, must do a lot to satisfy “Tamil aspirations”. However, the 13th amendment is not the answer that we need. Anura Kumara has dealt with that in detail. There was no need for Harini to deal with it.
.
That’s what I feel; let’s move on to other concerns.

You can see the attitude of the so called JVP/NPP, they are not so bothered because it doesn’t concern them. That is typical unfortunately.
The 13th amendment should be implemented because it matters to the people who want it, regardless what some bastard sitting somewhere else thinks.
You are absolutely right in your thoughts.

“You can see the attitude of the so called JVP/NPP, they are not so bothered “
They were very much bothered in 1989, and they were probably the reason it wasn’t properly implemented.
/
Sinhala_Man / July 23, 2024
SJ,
.
The 13th Amendment is NOT being rejected by the NPP. AKD has repeatedly said exactly what you say.
.
It is recognised that the Tamils see it as something salvaged from the mess we are in.
.
Devolution and respect for your rights? Yes!
.
But given knee jerk reactions from chauvinistic Sinhalese, it may have to be under a different name.
.
Never has it been said by the NPP that it will be repealed; it is part of the Constitution of the country. Ranil is making politics out of it; NOT Anura and the rest of the NPP.
.
I’m tired. Been up all night (it’s now 06:42). I hope that what I mean is clear. We’re wasting so much time on discussing nothing.

A question in this article: ” Is he ready for the ground game”? Let us find out what the game is. Can AKD face the “GAME” of:
1. The distribution of thousands of Land Ownership Deeds to voters.
2. The handing over of ownership of high-rise dwellings to tenants.
3. The distribution of free rice (20 kg) to villagers.
4. The awarding of scholarships to students country-wide
5. The organized meetings of the invited people by the Police – a newly formed Community Police. This has already been started in the Kegalle District.
6. A meeting to be held at BMICH to announce a “Financial Package” for the SME.
7. Reduction of Electricity (by 22%), Water, and Gas prices and now consequently to reduce the price of rice and other essentials.
AND many more OFFERINGS facilitated by the provision of a “Supplementary” Budget allocation (Rs. 850 m) in the Presidential vote.
Remember, this time it is not “Sil Redi”, “Sanitary Weare”, “Roofing Sheets”, “Galvanized Pipes”, “Sarees”, “Umbrellas”, and “Tires” etc….etc……

When it comes to religions, be it sinhala Buddhism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism or any other ancient nature religion, people have no other arguments than to believe if they were born to them. Not many would adopt a religious belief on their own. That is, most of them are born into a religion. People of Sri Lanka are no exception.

Dear Readers,
.
The time now is 08:28. The comment appearing below (slightly rehashed) was submitted as 6/6 towards the top of the comments here:

.
The time then was 07:06. “Too late!” I was told.

Examine the comments made by some persons here. It should be clear to you that they are trying their utmost to cause divisions within the NPP. The NPP leadership is aware of this. Do not suggest strategies which will cause AKD to risk losing this election. I have consistently accepted that the NPP depends on mainly the votes of the poor and marginalised Sinhalese to win. Political acumen is necessary to win this election.
.
I had prophetically processed the preceding paragraph and then explored other trends. I then came across a possibly game-changing YouTube.

I’m tired. But I’m convinced that Sarath Fonseka, a master strategist has saved the day for us. Listen to this video:

The video is 52 minutes in Sinhala. It had taken up three hours of my time. I have made a comment there, in Sinhala. I had typed the comment in English, then translated it into Sinhala. I shall give you all the rest of my current thinking below this Vishwamithra article, as already stated in 5/6:

“Thank you 🙆very much for your clear statements, General Sarath Fonseka. I’m a firm supporter of the NPP as it operates under Anura Kumara Dissanayake. I remain a firm supporter, even after listening to you. I am convinced that that Anura will win on the first count, with even 60% of the votes cast.
.
If that is not the case, and if one of the rogues manages to trick a large number of voters into giving one of them a sizeable number of votes, pushing Anura into third place, then you will receive my Second Preference. I have always cast Preferential Votes, although I did not expect it to play a major role in the election.
.
I’m confident that Anura will win. However, if he doesn’t make it into the run-off, what should I do? I would prefer you to whomever else is in the top two. In other words, although I may have fun by giving my second preference to some unrealistic idealist, you will get my third Preference.”

The above is the 175 word comment that I made below the Sarath Fonseka YouTube.
.
I’m exhausted.
.
A short rest, and then I will relax. The time is 10:05. Anura Kumara’s meeting in Japan is due to start in about 20 minutes. Well, it will be about an hour from now that we will hear his voice.
.
I think that he will realise that these 50 minutes of Sarath Fonseka will transform the country.
.
My current forecast is AKD the easy victor, with Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka a greatly honoured second.
.
I promise Fonseka my Second Preference but, unfortunately, he will have t take my word for it.

Dear Readers,
We understand Sinhala very well, Mr. Fonseka does not speak a single word about contesting here. So some half-Sinhala pundits translate the message which misleads the CT readership.
–
AKD, with zero experience of political pragmatism in Sri Lanka, should play open cards in the coming weeks. Even teenagers can continue accusing of corruption. It is a fact we know today. Potential candidates are expected to see what tangible changes they will make in the economy, health, education and other key areas. Basta.
–
After seizing the power AKD must APPLY all the mantras he uses. If not, he will be fired within 6 months. That is for sure.
I do not believe that his team will overtake the current president’s team. It’s clear to me.We are not just ignorants, we are thoughtful and sensitive enough to study the real situation before us.
Not because I respect that everything RW raises is correct, but until there is an economic recovery, nobody can do magic in terms of our poltics. That is glass clear.

Idiot!
.
Fonseka has said that he will not take up the position that contesting the election is something out of the question.
.
The clear implication is that he will contest.
.
Listen again. I’m not going to do another listen.
.
However, I must acknowledge that not many others seem to think that Fonseka is as important as I think him.
.
Readers!.
.
This is an example of others who think that Sajith is the main threat to the NPP.

Mere politics is not what that is discussion is all about. This discussion is all in Sinhala, by people who would normally be using English. Two Lankans, now Professors in American Universities. One is actually a Tamil!
