The SLFP group which supported President Maithripala Sirisena during January 08 election met in Colombo on Saturday to discuss alternate action against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa being given nomination to contest under the UPFA ticket.
The meeting was held at former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga’s residence in Colombo 07 and was attended by several SLFP MPs including Arjuna Ranatunga, Duminda Dissanayake and M.K.D.S. Gunawardena.
Meanwhile, Minister P. Harrison, speaking to reporters today, invited SLFP MPs dissatisfied with Rajapaksa’s nominations to join the UNP and contest the Parliamentary election.
“Now Rajapaksas Saloon door has been closed and our one has been opened,” Harrison said.
He also said nearly 20 Parliamentarians of the SLFP have held negotiations with the UNP to contest the under UNP ticket for the Parliamentary election. He said they were dissatisfied with the UPFA’s decision to give nomination to the former President.

Even at this last moment, against all odds, I hope MY3 has not betrayed us. I hope he has a hidden card up his sleeve. That he will to the delight of hopeful Sri Lankans. I hope he will check-mate the defeated, desperate ex-dictator for good.

Well said Ben, however the writing is on the wall. The re-emergence of the dark forces lokks inevitable. The weak Yahapalanaya is ever so meek at the moment to give into the demands of the dark forces. The knives are being sharpened again by the dark angels of MARA.
If anyone has any mettle in them or any kind of morality left, they must abondon this putrified and cancerous UPFA. Unfortunately UNP is only marginally better but would be so much better if only Ranil would go. Also he commented that on 8th January people defeated autocratic and corrupt MR and his cohorts. So, if Mr.MS agrees to nominate such a person to contest the elections, I would say, he is a WILLING PARTNER in setting OFF THE HOOK of a “Corrupted Leader” who should be brought before the peoples” court” to answer for all the corruptions, mismanagement and swindling of the county’s national resources.
This man who has “signed” that public announcement as regards the “agreement” to nominate Mr. MR is also a “MOST WANTED” among a whole lot of others in his camp. These. “alleged” criminals will not “REST” a moment and will work at break neck speed to get out of the public wrath. Will MR. Great news, at least a few struck to their guns. Arjuna always speaks his mind, and he with this young politicians can steer the ship to the shore, when the captain was in a delusion, playing into pirates hands.
There were three lots in action since MR lost in Jan 8: Premajayantha, Yapa, etc. and Co were sent to work from within acting like real Party faithful while Babithira and co to do a gimmick as a confused lot sitting on the wall, and the other like Weejeweera, Sajiin, etc. as MR loyal from the day one. But all three have one object in mind that is to scuttle MS’s leadership and replace MR by any means. The issue for them, not people, not party but safeguarding each and every one from their illegal and corrupt deals they did abundantly thinking MR would not be unseated for a life time. Pity, all had happened in a blink of a time and now only thing they were able to cash in to come to power is LTTE and minorities.
Those who support MR have no problem with corruption or crimes as long as they were able to enjoy some spoils out of these mega deals. Are we going to go back to see the Chief Justice and President travelling to Vatican like a king and slave selling citizen judicial right completely to political thugs that have no human values.
Whether win or loose, young folks fight for what you believe right. Just because some ones with vested interest backs MR, don’t get perturbed by that, they have some hidden cynical reasons to support MR, you have many sound and valid reason to oppose MR,… and even MS if he has derailed in the name of party….a good leader looks first for the best interest of the people and country, not the interest of a mafia gang.

The latest news in the Wellala Gardens and the surrounds is Rantunga , has organized even Bodhi Sira to join his grand coalition of Ranil, Whisky Madam, Mangalan and Ranatunga himself.
And it was arranged on the weekend, under the guise of toasting Whisky Madam for good health and longevity on her 70 th..
It was at Mangalan’s Kurunduwatta pad.
But Sira didn’t turn up.
