The Joint Opposition today handed over a no confidence motion against Secretary General of Parliament to Speaker, Karu Jayasuriya,
The no confidence motion which was signed by Parliamentarians representing the Joint Opposition group, cited rigging of a vote during a supplementary budget vote as the reason behind the motion.
The Joint Opposition said that the vote was rigged even though the Secretary General Dammika Dassanayake announced that the vote received 33 in favour while 31 voted against it. Subsequent to protest and scrutiny of the CCTV cameras, it was verified that the vote had received 31 in favour and 31 against.
