Jumbo Cabinet Shows MS-RW Combine Need To Hang On To Power: Anura Kumara

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) last night said that the formation of a large cabinet of ministers by Sirisena – Wickremesinghe government showcased that they were prepared to hang on to power by any means necessary.

Anura KThe JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake told the media that the jumbo – cabinet was also an infringement of constitution because as per the 19th amendment, the government could only appoint 30 cabinet ministers and 40 state and deputy ministers.

Dissanayake stated that this showed that the Sirisena-Wickremesinghe government was prepared to even disregard the constitution to consolidate their power.

While noting that Sirisena and Wickremesinghe was trying to hide behind the term national government to justify their jumbo-cabinet, Dissanayake said that that the term “national government” could not be used to describe the UNP-SLFP coalition as it does not have the support of all political parties in parliament.

Dissanayake went on to say that Rajapaksa had done the same thing appointing ministers at will to cling on to power and added that such practices was rejected by the people at the last presidential election.

Dissanayake went on to say that if the the new government was genuine about treading the path of good governance it should have appointed the constitutional council and the independednt commissions first instead of focusing on jumbo-cabinets.

Also Dissanayake said that some of the Rajapaksa regime members who were described as rogues and thieves by the present rulers too were being gifted with ministerial protfolios now.

He said people like Nimal Siripala De Silva and Susil Premjayanth who shouted themselves hoarse in election platforms that they would never join the UNP to form a coalition government were doing so without an iota of shame.

Dissanayake said that people would have voted in a different manner if these people had told the truth that they will join with the UNP to form a government.

I wonder whether AKD has forgotten when they supported MR in 2004 for a ‘Pariwasa Arnduwa’ and enjoyed Ministries in a real Jumbo Cabinet of MR’s Govt? I as one who supports the UNP and Ranil Wickremasinghe in particular understand the need to work with the scum of the SLFP who have been rejected for the greater good of settling the National Problem. Once that is settled and good governance is established the bad eggs will be easily identified and got rid off. Then let us see who remains.

Rhetoric often repeated as Geobbles did, certainly has an effect on the masses. From ’94 the elections were distorted and the UNP was defeated and the SLFP led govts went on harping that RW can never win an election. They even had a count on the number of defeats to prove their point. Had the last Presidential election been free and fair, do you believe RW could not have won? If so how did RW win on the 17th of August? Was it not by the UNP vote? The UNP vote on the 17th August would have been much higher if not for some of the UNP being disenchanted by the utterances that drove some of them away from the party, believing that RW can not win and the vote fragmented. On a similar note there have been attacks on Ravi Karunanayake that he is a Rogue and had robbed the CWE. For those who believed, ask yourself how RK robbed, when he was only an Opposition MP all the while for the last twenty years. He served as Minister for two years in the UNP govt of 2002. This would have been the only time if he could have robbed. Then again RK held the post of Minister under CBK followed by MR. Had RK robbed, do you seriously believe, RK would have been allowed to go Scot free either by CBK or MR?

I believe everyone remembers the dilapidated conditions of the CWE, a den of thieves packed with SLFP party supporters? What did RK do? He refurbished all the CWEs to the standards of the Super Markets to compete with them. Unfortunately the UNP govt. ceased in 2004 and the CBK/MR govts failed to up keep the standards established by RK. When CBK and MR failed to maintain the CWEs, they started to accuse that RK had robbed the CWEs. It is amazing how our gullible, with a low IQ believe in such slander.

Then again RK who had received sum funds from Raj Rajaratnam to buy shares in the Union Bank, the money had been sent with the full knowledge of the Central Bank, but CBK/MR tried to show it was an illegal transaction when it was perfectly Legal. So both CBK/MR naturally failed to get a conviction on Ravi Karunanayake, even with a kept Judiciary. Catch them allowing RK to get away if they had an iota of evidence?

My prediction is that most of the Corrupt in the SLFP who have been appointed as Ministers will cease to be in the National Govt or in Politics altogether before the term ends. The JVP will not have a leg to stand on at the next General Election in another five years.

As I suggested elsewhere you should take the initiative to open TNA branches and field candidates through out the island. With the support of Sambandan you should be able muster majority and form a Mark 2 Dharmishta government. Its futile to depend on tried and failed partys of the past.

‘Perhaps the city slickers spend their idling time practicing and perfecting the use of ass in a jovial situation. Are they sitting on their brain too?’

Let me tell you how. Vedda is useless with his bow and arrows and goes to get some help from Tissahamy. Despite all his efforts Tissahamy cannot teach him to shoot straight. In frustration Tissahamy breaks the arrows, hands them back to Vedda and tells him never to come back.

Vedda is a sorry figure as he waddles back to his cave. “What happened?” asks his wife. “Tissahamy smashed my arrows” cries Vedda. “Thats not very nice of Tissahamy” says his wife.
Vedda glares at his wife “That’s nothing” he says, “You should see where he shoved my bow”

        taraki,

You have to understand that for RW to form a Good Government of decent honest is not possible with the type of character representing the SLFP some of whom have been voted by the public and a few others brought in through the back door by the leadership. So RW is compelled to include them to form a Government. The thing is, it will not result in Corruption, Thuggery and Murder as before as there will be checks and balances. The important thing is to get a settlement for the vexed National issue and the 20th Amendment to be passed to prevent crossovers. If those two issues can be addressed and passed it is well worth the effort of this govt. Thereafter mark my word, RW will deliver with the blessings of the majority of people, a Decent and an Honest lot of characters to govern the country, upholding Law and Order. For a country that had been run by the corrupt for the last fifty years, one can not cleanse the system, with one election alone. So have patience.

Gamini, I sincerely hope you are right but rotten seeds can only produce rotten crops. If the UNP had won an overall majority on its own, there would have been some hope for the future but things being what they are, there appears to be none.

          • 2
            0

taraki I beg to differ. Had the UNP won a sufficient number, it would have been difficult to implement a solution to the National Problem because others specially led by MR would have scuttled for sure. Hence the need for a National Govt even with the scum. Besides, remember MR is quiet today because the sword of Damocles is hanging over him with the corruption and murders he committed. You saw how MR conducted his election campaign purely on the national issue, putting fear on the Sinhalese Buddhists and managed to garner the votes he obtained. Do not worry Ranil Wickremasinghe is much smarter than these Machiavelli politicians and he will deliver this society to civility.

Upholding “Law and Order” under the new minister,Thilak Marapona, famously known as a guy who will go an extra mile to protect the Rajapaksas specially Gotabhaya. Ranil made this guy the minister of Law and order specially to protect Ranil’s old friend Mahinda Rajapaksa who saved his leadership over the past 9 years. Ranil has to pay him back.

          gamini,

“My time is almost over and there are a few years left.”

Never did we meet, ever did we personally know us, but ….

we shared the common interest which has now come into being under the vision of RW. If one were to delve deeper into the multitude of implications of this regime change mission the role of RW is unique, unparalleled and unprecedented. It was an utterly destroyed UNP he legacied, with all the leaders gone and with flattened-to-the-ground party apparatus and on one hand the LTTE juggernaut and on the other a maimed public reputation on UNP. The Goebbels took charge but fell short to completely shake UNP from RW so they bribed Pirabaharan fucker and robbed RW of the win. From that moment on began one of the most demanding and strenuous political test of Sri Lankan history which is to test the acid test of time and all powerful executive power of state against a single man RW whose mission was to protect his party from Rajapaksha lawlessness and Goebbels theory shaped voter consciousness. Rajapkshas pumped billions into this destroy-UNP-project, they maimed it fishing chunks from it but this one man RW was up to the task and challenge. He challenged Rajapakshas by entering into their own fortified fortresses and catalyzing only a single entity in My3. The Rajapakshas, Kili Maharajas, other media vassals and sold out journos kept records of defeat counts of RW while RW devised his own game plan and the single spark RW ignited in Rajapaksha camp has burned down and ruined the whole Rajapaksha familial dynastic project. But thus far we have only ensured the clearing of the weed. Much lie ahead for sowing the seeds of goodness and reaping the goodies.

This is philosophical and real too: what is man without consciousness, and what is the content of our consciousness? And also what is the quality, depth and universality of our consciousness? If one were to strip of one’s consciousness then who is he, what is his identity, what is his relationship to others and the world? What is reincarnation? What is continuity? And what is death? Do we continue to exist and to be reborn in other human bodies by being part of their memory, consciousness, feelings, values and love? What do we chose to continue our existence: the love and the goodness of the human consciousness or the Rajapaksha evil and voraciousness? All these material possessions including our forms are but fleeting transiencies. The life of earth and universe is measured in billions of years. And this Earth is the only place so far we know holds life! So what is the mission of our existence? What is the existence of man on this sacred planet has caused to it? Are we concerned with our own petty little egotistic problems or concerned with deeper and universal issues? You know, we belong to this world. That is why when we go we say dust to dust, ashes to ashes. But when people live they forget where they stand and commit all types of horrendous crimes against nature and other human beings and animals. Gamini, our form may go when the elements could no longer support its life mechanism but human race will continue in consciousness, in love, in relationship, in knowledge. That humanity also continues in ideologies, beliefs, rituals, religions and collective civilizations. It also continues in war, destruction, hate, terrorism, jealousy, vanity and ignorance.

You said “My time is almost over and there are a few years left”. I will cry for you and offer a flower to God May everlasting happiness be with you! But I do not know whether there is God or not or there is everlasting happiness. The annuls of human consciousness would dedicate rightful place for the crusader in you who steadfastly and unwaveringly stood his ground for the common cause of human endeavor. The human nature in each one of us and the love that our hearts are capable of kindling would dare to take us to astonishing heights and diminutive gestures. This is the story of life, nature and existence. And we must not forget there are other life forms as well-the elephants, cattle, fish, the cat and the dog etc. This world and the universe consists of endless potentials, creations and combinations-it creates the sun and its nuclear reactions and rays, it creates light and the darkness, it creates stars, planets, the gasses, earth, water and oxygen, it creates man and the beast, it creates mother, child and milk, it creates love and compassion. But who creates ignorance, greed and war? And who created Rajapakshas and a populace who are prepared to fornicate their nature-gifted humanity for a pack of shoddy rogues from Madamulana?

“the multitude of implications of this regime change mission the role of RW is unique, unparalleled and unprecedented”

            Silva,

Thanks for the compliment, we certainly have to pat each other and all those who fearlessly ventured to expose the Truth in this blog and at times being maligned by the cohorts. The insults we have faced was well worth it. It is said, what damages society most, is not the villainy committed by the Corrupt and the Murderous but the silence of the Good, who constitute the majority in society.

Take care and hope we can meet in better times in the near future without fear of being abducted or Killed. I like to mention now that in 2010 when I was denouncing the LTTE war as a hoax, I had a close call. I received two telephone calls on my cellular indicating they were from a private number to stop or face the inevitable. I lied low for a while but I believe I was spared due to my relationship to a very high Official in the MR admin and also that my time was not up. My phones both cellular and the land lines were tapped as I could hear my voice echo, indicating the conversations were being taped. This tapping lasted till a couple of weeks ago and when I loudly berated whoever listening the echoing stopped. Although MR lost on Jan 8th his catchers continued their dirty tricks possibly believing MR would make a come back. Now that MR is dead as a dodo the FREEDOM we all enjoy now, is immeasurable. Congratulations to all who did their bit by putting their shoulder to the wheel, I say a Big Thank-You.

You may be right by your thoughts – but to put CBK and MR together in your arguments are not at all right.Had CBK picked up My3 to chase out MR forever, paving the way RW to regain his lost powers – nothing would have reached empowering UNP to this date. This you should be very clear. I am in the view today s UNPs are not like those we experienced in late 8oties. Most of them know that being corurpted or abusive, thy would loose almost everything. But having said that, UNP was not powerful enough to bring their throught to village folks even if the need was seen stake over the years. Above all, we argued her the manner RW behaveed as the opposition leader in the parliament during the last two terms of the MR. There – had the jvprs not reacting adequately, we all thought there had been no oppostion in the country. That is how UNPers worked in the parliamemtn. As it is the case, in a democracy you also need to have a powerful Oppositon to allow rulers not to go that abusive – was clearly seen during the terms of MR. At the time, 18 Amd was passed, UNP was not powerful enough to go for demonstrations. They had been like penisless men – reacted taken aback. Remember… ? RW is good and humble educated gentleman, but people had to sacrifice their lives for not having a powerful oppostion. Latter should not be forgotten Gamini

What the hell is this monkey talking about? People in the country almost totally rejected these never practical opportunistic JVP monkies. It was they who brought MR into power in 2005. And they said kada dekema badu shuwar naa kiyala! It was almost single-handedly planned and strategized by RW how to get rid of MARA and form a national government to save the country from the unending vicious circle of partisan politics. Later on the intellects, professionals and sane people joined the bandwagon. But the JVP lunatics never was part of it. They demanded remote controls, condoms and batteries to titillate their dead political brain. Now of what use was their incessantly hyped “best nomination list in the history of mankind”? What a bunch of monkeys are they? It was these bastards who perpetually prevented the country from freeing itself from the self imposed prison of conflict, stupidity, vanity, strikes etc. From the day of of the new parliament these motherfuckers have restarted their mischief. JVP must be erased from the face of this country if it wants to advance itself.

        Patriot,

The scumbag incorporated into you hides behind a veil of decent words but that does not cleanse you of your piggish attitudes, digging the garbage and feeding on muck. I now invoke the words uttered in parliament by your iconic character Vasidewa Hadugandassakkara scumbag in parliament against RW where he uttered the words Pakaya and another icon you venerate, Baduwardana, an expired tuition master, went on to concoct a Rajapaksharized definition to the filthy uttering. Though hired a high flying “patriotic” label your typed scumbags are the low-lifed, scavenging traitors who stole the national wealth as well as the intellectual sense of the common man. I cannot think of any other names to describe you monkeys and JVP rogues. RW needs no derived-by-monkeys attributes and explanations as are emanating from the scumbag in you for the entire world and more than 5.2M people in the country have outspoken at the last election as to who RW is. Your monkey politics goes hand in hand with those of JVP who are responsible for arsoning billions worth of laboriously mobilized national wealth, causing immense sufferings to and deaths of thousands of youths in the country, bombing the parliament the very hallowed place of democracy, opposing every critical and progressive political move in the country. The silly buggers like you and JVPers asked the people this time for a mandate to be in the “opposition” and form a government in “2020”! What fuckingly perverted politics was that? Do you and JVP think people have gone “mad-doged” (rabid) to cast their vote now and expect to be governed in 5 years! Such are the fantasies, wet and dry dreams, hallucinations, utopias and wholesale madness you and the JVPers dream of day in and day out. Out of this neuroticism you monkeys, casting shame on the Thomas Alwa Edisons, the Michael Faradays et al, fling neurotic kilobytes all over the digital network, parliamentary apparatus and the tangible perceptional dimension in every day existance. It was RW who initiated and was instrumental in framing the 19A and he incorporated the essentials of forming a government in 2015 in either scenario where UNP gets a clear majority exceeding 113 MPs or a combined government of UPFA and UNP alliance also allowing room for any political stream in the country including the JVP. But alas you silly perverts jettisoned your national duty and responsibility of coming together to serve the people by way of fashioning out a lasting governance and development framework for the entire country. Do you and JVP assholes think RW and the framers of 19A were assholes to make a constitutional blunder and an impasse where they render themselves unable to form a government because they could not incorporate a proper constitutional clause in 19A on how to form a coalition government? And what a self-fucked theory was it to think by you and JVPers that for a national government to be formed every Dick Tom and Harry political party in the country must come together in that exercise? Were your balls in your mouth when you pronounced that nonsense as your JVPers could not keep your former leader Somawansa Amarasinghe inside your fold and that too at the brink of the last election? And what about the Hotugamins and Modaka Vimalayas who splintered out of JVP and now are urinating into the camp from outside? I will give you-JVP concoct the next media gimmick: you can argue that since those residing outside the country and those who do not go to the polling station cannot vote no party can form a national government! RW very correctly had it inked to include 30 ministers and then allowed room for expansion to about 45-55 ministers in case of a national government being formed. One has to be realistic in problem solving and must possess some sort of “clairvoyance” as to what may come to pass in future events of the country. So far RW has steadfastly and masterfully sculptured and guided the country in the ideal path for rescue, survival and progress. Not a single faltering step has been tread. He is the last of the legacy line of great statesmen the country has produced with his moderation, practicability, flexibility, firmness, vision and mission orientation, decency, simplicity and the qualities of a true statesman. It is people who opted for a mega cabinet by not rejecting the Rajapaksha rogue regime by a large margin. RW had to go in par with the mandate he received and also must form a stable government immune to Rajapakshas and the vassals attacks and conspiracies and capable of effecting and establishing strong long term national policies which are overdue since independence. And what is more this arrangement is only for two years and in the meantime the country, the people of the country, the concerned people including the JVPers can propose on how to reduce a mega cabinet such as that exists today wasting huge amounts of tax payers money and achieve the governance objectives of the country in the new constitution to be framed in the coming period. The racists, extremists, fools and Rajapakshas blew the tentacles of democracy into malformed elephantitis proportions. Now the Sri Lankan psyche is being treated with heavy doses of anti-stupidity good governance medications for a mandatory two year treatment course and after two years let us see whether we can discontinue or reduce the dose!

Dear Mr Silva, It seems you haven’t listened to the speech given by the president to the ministers. He categorically said that he is going to govern the country with this PM and the 100 odd ministers for the next FIVE years and not just TWO years. If Ranil was a statesman he should have split the 30 cabinet positions into 20-UNPers and 10-SLFPers and the 40 non-cabinet into 25-UNPers and 15-SLFPers. What is evident is that both UNPers and SLFPers want to suck the blood out of the ordinary citizens of Sri Lanka.

This is all to do with Rajapakse being in the background. If he and his family rides into the sunset, there would be more meaningful and accountable politics in the country.

A majority of people in the country do not want the Rajapakses ever to foul this country again.

All the wheeling and dealing that is necessary in the short term is to ensure removing Rajapakse from Sri Lanka’s politics.

Until that happens, the political crooks will have a say in parliament and be in ministerial positions.

    Completely in agreement with JVP.

SLFP MPs who became ministers should be kicked out at the next elections. They had no mandate for this.

Unfortunately the reality is that UNP could not get 113 even with MS and Chandrika support. This is the last time for a UNP govt for many years if they don’t deliver this time.

    Let’s wait and see.

Anura kumara don’t even seem to realise what he is talking about. First he lambast the joint government and calls it wrong, in the same breath he accepts and justifies the appointment of Sambanthan which is a result of that afore said wrong.

I have no objection in Samapandan being the opposition leader if he actually has the command of the opposition,as was in 1977. But here he is only as good as appointed by the president.

If Ranil Wickramasinghe is a Statesman he should have agreed to form a government with the help of the SLFP keeping the total at 30 and 40 for the cabinet and non-cabinet ministries, respectively, as per the 19th amendment to solve the country’s problems. As a statesman he should have sacrificed, may be, 10 cabinet and 15 non cabinet posts and given them to the SLFP(to please them) thereby not putting a burden on the people. The UNP still would have had 20 cabinet and 25 non cabinet posts. Mind you, President Sirisena promised to keep the cabinet posts to a maximum of 20 during his election campaign although the greedy UNPers and the SLFPers got it increased to 30 in the 19th amendment even allowing a provision to increase it to any number in the case of a national government. Surely, this country, Sri Lanka has no future whatsoever. The country is run by a bunch of selfish politicians.

Maithripala Sirisena is proving himself to be the unknown devil. The size of his cabinet is a measure of the depth of his deception. His nemesis is Mahinda. His marriage to Ranil is a marriage of convenience.

Oh very well put Nathan! Succint and to the point.

Eloquently said Nathan. If I may add, MS’s bribe to his concubines for a over sized harem (Cabinet) is for those paramours to not torpedo the “marriage”.

      Nathan

“His marriage to Ranil is a marriage of convenience.”

All marriages are marriage of convenience, proposed or otherwise, if you think about it.

In any marriage both have to pretend to play their part as expected. Sham marriages also work to extent as long as it benefit both.

Lets see if MS-RW couple could give birth to a new nation. If delivered good, if not we will not be losing anything compared to last 67 years.

One wonders how MS-RW couple planning to thwart MR, Weerawansa,…. Dayan attempt to abort the child.

JVP criticizes anything and everything this all what we hear from AKD/LK/SH…

They do not have a solution they don’t try to work as a team there is also no constructive criticism.

If JVP wants to gain recognition they must stop this and try to work with the government. We all know the political culture in Sri Lanka.

Man want to become MP, then he want to become Dpt. Minister then he want to be Minister then her want to become powerful Minister. They many not bother about becoming PM or President as long as they can make enough money. This is the mentality. In this mentality for the government to function smoothly you need to select a few loyal fellows and make them a minister.

Hopefully we will see change after the 2 year period ends. PM RW had the ability to form a government, but in our setup it would be a useless exercise as the MARA clan will keep blocking every single move by the government. The MP who did not get a ministerial post will support MARA like a donkey.

Rather I would put the blame on the people who voted WW,UG,GK,Mutu…. and countless such people as their representatives.

JVP is becoming a non entity. Will fade away soon.

JVP Kumara is the biggest loser in this Election.

The only JVP MP who had a bit of brains to expose the rotten Commission deal of the Century couldn’t get elected.

All because this Prince bent over to the UNP Chtian Faction to give a hand to finish off Rajapaksa.

And the Sinhala Buddhist inhabitants who rightly so identified these betrayers and punished them accordingly.

Now JVPKumara has no leg to stand on and has go behind the Vellala TNA to become relevant.

Hope the Vellala TNA use the Prince to get Self Rule this time , unlke the previous occassion where the JVP got Btalanda PM sacked for trying to give ISGA to Prabakaran.

“And the Sinhala Buddhist inhabitants who rightly so identified these betrayers and punished them accordingly.”

What has got onto to you? You sound like a televangelist of the South. Are you one of those born again Christians?

“JVP Kumara is the biggest loser in this Election.”

      Why?

He was not a minister in the last government had nothing to lose.
      What did he lose?

I always noticed that in your comments in this blog, you never fail to use this word “VELLALA”.
Anyone can understand why. Because you are suffering from an inferiority complex.
Why do you keep reminding others of this fact ????

Who cares whether it is jumbo cabinet or. bamboo cabinet as long as there is peace and prosperity.
Anyway all these cabinets should first clean up their closets.

You make sensible suggestions at times but People don’t accept you as a third force After a while you will also be in the Political Dustbin like the Lssp, and the communist party. Even Mayadunne made it very clear that the middle class Government servant only a 8 %voted with you , So you have no future because of your past doing , but try to be the watch dog in the opposition

it is unbelievable how these people formed this jumbo cabinet: it is a world record once again? Do you we need such jumbo cabinet? why President needs to please all these people with post? It is a marriage of convenience or conflict? it is utter worst of public money? do they follow a path of MR in wasting public money.
Reduce all salaries of cabinet Members
    cut their allowance
    cut their expense.
    limit their PAs
cut the numbers of their security guards and vehicle provided.
do not make them live on public money
Do not make them loot public money
show the difference between you and MR.
otherwise, tide of waves in politics will change soon in SL.

While SL seems to reward dishonesty and duplicity at the highest levels of state, in some progressive countries the crooks are routinely lined up and shot, so that the stakes become quite high and therefore prohibitive.. for example in China…

I have always said that the JVP is unreliable and untrustworthy. They showed their true colours in 1971 and 1987 but when they joined hands in a common effort, I DARED o think that they really want to serve. Instead of waiting to see how this administration progress they already begin their whining and complaining. Watch out !! Next, they may take arms.
