//”Contrary to the Yahapalana government’s decision to observe May 19 as “Day of Remembrance” to commemorate all who died in the war, the government is now commemorating a “War Heroes day”.”//—————————————————————————————————————————-

Of course it is war heroes day because they defeated the “Terrorists” who Terrorized the Tamils, Muslims and Sinhala. Before that the so-called “war heroes”, they were all Terrorists who Terrorized the Tamils since independence, startling with disenfranchising the Up country Tamils, with the help of castist Jaffna Vellahlas, when only the Sinhala leftist South opposed.———————————————————————————————————————–

Were those who defeated the JVP “Terrorists;” in 1971 and 1987-1989, also “war heroes”?———————————————————————————————————————————–

So who are war heroes and who are terrorists? ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

The Para-Sinhala and Para-Tamils in the Land of Native Veddah Aethho are all crooks, liars, and criminals. That is why there is a War crimes investigation by the UN HRC against the Para Sinhala as well as the Para- Tamils. The true War Heroes shoulkd be separated from the Terrorists and the war criminals.

Amarasiri is so confused these days.

Amare can you answer this question man?

If person like to see all the Tamils converted to his religions is not a racist, then who is a racist in this world? If a person like to live as rump to Izeth, Mahindapala & Basil Fernando is not a racist then who is racist? Probably he is biggest terrorist than anybody else? Don’t you agree with me on that?.

You know what will happen if you get skinhead to grow hair on its and make to wear a pottu. How would you call a person who like see a skinhead grow hair on it and see wearing pottu? How is Wataraka Thero doing? But as you are Majority Sinhala Intellectual you call every Tamils has be converted to Buddhism and walk out without PTA -CTA jumping on you. Before you convert rest of the Tamils to Buddhism, what don’t you first take care of the Negombo Tamils who are living with the Label of Sinhala Buddhist. Sinhala Buddhist label for Negombo Tamils is another one of your divide & rule invention to keep the Kerala Mercenary converted Kandyan Sinhala Intellectuals pride not affected.

Addressing the public gathered in Mulliwaikkal in the Northern Province on Thursday to commemorate the “genocide” which took place there in the closing stages of the war, Wigneswaran said he saw no reason for the Sri Lankan government to station 150,000 troops in the province when the war against the Tamil Tiger rebels had ended eight years ago.

The Chief Minister of Sri Lanka’s Tami-majority Northern Province, C.V.Wigneswaran, has said that the time is not far off when the Tamils will ask the Sri Lankan army, navy and air force, to quit the province

The 150,000 SINHALA troops are station in the NE with one objective.

      The Sinhalalisation of the NE.

The army will bury Sinhala art effects by night and dig them up by day to make fake claims that Sinhala civilisation existed in the NE before the age of Dinosaurs

Rajash ————————- It appears that your hard won right to sing Tamil National Anthem in public ceremonies has already gone with Galle Face wind? Finally the Sinhala/Buddhist racists have won and Sarath Weerasekera and his sidekick Country Farce won their demand without a court case has been filed.

My Above comment with a short extract of Wigneswaran speech just goes to show what was the commemorative message there??? This is just playing politics as usual using this occasion, just like that ngo based in Jaffna who no one on this earth has heard, get foreign money to place stones and celebrate so called commemorative events, with no benefit to the people of the North or the rest of Lanka. It also show how certain so called news sites which cut it teeth on manipulation publishes stories (fake). as clearly the more radical element chanting dead LTTE slogans attended this so called commemorative event thus robbing the real victims. Then later we got the’ Gunman fires at Police in Kilinochchi . did not make a certain news site on this occasion. That is the difference between truth and BS

They can call it the “War Criminals Day.”

Then it should be specified as day of remembrance of Terrorists or War heroes. There were Tamils and muslims among war heroes.

But, if Tamils want to celebrate and commomorate suicide bombers, and black tigers who took infants out of the pregent women, then those Tamils are Barbarians of the modern time.

Where did you get this crap from? Most probably carrying some bits from USA fabricated tape during the first Iraq war. LOL

BTW what is the south commemorating? This is a piece from a Sinhala ex-army personnel’s basis for refugee claim in HK.

““These are good people that were driven from their homes by torture, rape, abuse, blackmail and war, circumstances that are really difficult for us to imagine,” Snowden said in a video released Thursday.”

      Go Figure!

jimsofty dimwit ————— There are a number of erected beams and columns around the Cenotaph . Did Gota build these structure publicly hang Sarath Fonseka and his supporters? The Hindu priest looks very uncomfortable. Was he scared of being branded a traitor?

He said he was praying for those who sacrificed them for the country and for the suffering parents. As you said, apparently he was trying fish words so that somebody may not brand him “Traitor” . One may not brand one as traitor only by words. I don’t know how did he got caught in that.

“Nayirah al-Ṣabaḥ (Arabic: نيره الصباح‎), called “Nurse Nayirah” in the media, was a fifteen-year-old Kuwaiti girl, who alleged that she had witnessed the murder of infant children by Iraqi soldiers in Kuwait, in verbal testimony to the U.S. Congress, in the run up to the 1991 Gulf War. Her testimony, which was regarded as credible at the time, has since come to be regarded as wartime propaganda. “

jim shitty you are a moron of the highest degree and a complete racist mutt. The south brought the war to the north and the northerners used the same tactics the devils from the south brought back on them. There is no difference between both parties. We have racist pariahs on both sides of the divide. The father of racist pariahs is you.

CT trying hard to stir up strife between the Sinhalese and Tamils. It doesn’t matter whether it is “Remembrance Day” or “War Heroes Day” or “Wiped out Terrorism day”. What is important here is Sri Lanka got lasting peace since terrorism was crushed in 2009. Yes, we have to commemorate all citizens who were killed both civilians and soldiers and we have to give thanks to others who were injured and disabled due to this brutal war and soldiers who fought bravely until this menace of terrorism was wiped out. If not for them thousands more would be being killed even now.
It is amazing that I haven’t seen any reports highlighting LTTE terrorists who have been killed. What happened to thousands of them? why no Tamils or NGOs are claiming those LTTE fighters being part of their family or friends? Hope somebody here will enlighten readers about their fate.

This is how Tamil christian CT editor is trying. Actually this article is a lie. Sri lanka is not celebrating a Real War heroes day involving soldiers.

Tamils wanted to celebrate Suicide bombers and Black tigers. they did it in Mullativu and Even NPC chief minister attenedd it. NPC chief minister, as per Tamilnet, has even threatned the Sri lankan govt. The way back, probably, some one had shot at the Kalanika police station too. Read Tamilnet and see all the information about celebrating suicide bombers by Tamils.

It appears from the narration and wreaths that all “heroes” are dead.
Those living & in uniform are NOT heroes.
This situation is unique to Sri Lanka.
    P.S
The non-heroes are making life hell for those living in the northeast.

The government fought many wars with the LTTE
Many died on all sides , Sri Lankan Defence forces, LTTE fighters, IPKF and civilians during these wars.

So whether its Remembrance Day or War Heroes Day it doesn’t matter.

The Govt is remembering ALL Heroes, irrespective of which side they fought, who died in the Civilian war.

By implying that this day is for Sri Lankan solders your also celebrating Rape, Murder and Torture.

I cannot say for certain the feeling within the country but from outside any one hearing of the war is reminded of Rape, Murder, Torture and war crimes even the previous govt spent a fortune to change this but money will not do it until the criminals are brought to justice.

If the LTTE had won the war, do you think Tamils would take time off to remember all the SLA soldiers killed or the several hundred Sinhalese civilians who died from suicide bombs? Propaganda is propaganda, all governments and non-state entities use it to get public opinion on their side.

      Native Veddah:

JVP emerged as a result of mass unemployment among youth. While it initially performed acts of disrepute, eventually it renounced all forms of terrorism and entered the political sphere. So, the JVP was not inherently fascist. The LTTE used violence as means to hijack the non-violent political struggle from the Tamil intellectual class. It then wiped out the other Tamil militant groups and waged full-scale war on the democratically elected government of Sri Lanka. It engaged in acts of ethnic cleansing (war crime), suicide bombing (war crime), and blackmailed the Tamil diaspora into funding a war machine. It also assassinated numerous political leaders, including the Prime Minister of the second largest democracy.

There was some justification for the JVP, at least initially. There was never any justification for the LTTE, it was some fascist outfit that served the interests of a megalomaniac, Prabhakaran, who used human shields to delay his own demise. JVP did not cross certain lines, LTTE crossed all the lines. That is why JVP still has some legitimacy and LTTE does not. It has nothing to do with Sinhala-Buddhist ‘racism”, those racists had a Tamil foreign minister and allowed a pro-separatist Tamil political party in Parliament. Show me a single Hindu or Christian political party in any majority Islamic nation, then you can claim the Sinhala-Buddhists are intolerant.

          Native Vedda,

Your arguments lack substance. Whining about a problem is not a solution. LTTE was a problem, and it was taken care of in the only way possible. You can go to Switzerland with your battle ax and mourn for the Eelam with Rudrakumaran if you wish. Rest of the country is moving on.

Lester————————-“If the LTTE had won the war, do you think Tamils would take time off to remember all the SLA soldiers killed or the several hundred Sinhalese civilians who died from suicide bombs?” —————— Why do you want to speculate something unrealistic and expect some miracle to happen. How come the defeated JVP was allowed to remember its fallen comrades within 3 years of the end of their terrorism and not the LTTE. Similarly the Sinhala speaking relatives of victims have been remembering their relatives killed by the armed forces and affiliated vigilantes/home guards/privatised murder squads/….. despite the fact that JVP too went on a killing spree during their “revolutionary period of madness” yet Tamil speaking relatives are banned from doing the same thing that was officially allowed to Sinhala speaking victims of the state. ————————-Why is the double standard? One law for one people and another preferential treatment for the other. ————Lester just accept you are a hypocrite and a bigot. If you consider yourself a secular law abiding human being you would start campaigning for equal rights to all people, in law and practice.

I second your statement on scum like Lester attached to the university administration of sri lanka where murder on mass scale was planned during the first insurrection for their benefit of fame wealth and power. he is more than a “”a hypocrite and a bigot”
but is a thickhead thats needs to be shot `military law`in the head the way communist were shot by franco the frog. that would stop the growth of animals of his calibre playing the anti- muslim pro judaism card to the core to just belch and fart like DJ, old Hussain the toad……

How do you define a war hero? Does this day commemorate fallen soldiers or all those who fought in the war?

Those who gave their lives should not be forgotten & the terrorists, although some of them may have been brainwashed into believing they were fighting for a just cause, remain as terrorists, as they waged a war against society & a legitimate Govt., committing crimes even against their own people, therefore, should have no part in this remembrance. However, crimes against humanity were committed by both parties, so it’s time we drop this glorified ‘war hero’ sentiment &, instead, remember the dead, soldiers & civilians, who died in this horrific conflict.

The world remember the war dead, so why do we call it ‘war heroes’ day’? Not everybody who fought in the war are heroes. This is just political ‘point scoring’ by rousing nationalistic sentiments. We will never reconcile the country if we continue to harp on the war ‘victory’. There are no victors in a war, just death, destruction & hardship for all but we can learn from mistakes so that it should never happen again.
