Netanyahu Triggered Latest Crisis Only To Save His Political Future

By Latheef Farook

Latheef Farook

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been facing problems on several fronts for sometimes. Cases of bribery, fraud and breach of trust against him and the political divisions causing instability, has been threatening his government. Four Knesset (parliament) elections were held in a span of two years: in April 2019, September 2019, March 2020 and March 2021. However no stable government yet.

Following last March elections Netanyahu was tasked to form a new government. However neither he nor his opponents possess a majority in parliament due to different interests and personal animosities.

The last election made it clear that the new Israeli kingmaker is none other than Mansour Abbas, the leader of the Islamic party Ra’am. Netanyahu was ready to form a government with him just to sustain his primacy, with the hope that this may help him stay out of prison. Meanwhile an alternative centrist coalition also can’t be formed without the support of Abbas.

According to reports hardcore rightwing within the Israeli Knesset do understand that such political power in the hands of an Islamic party empowers their bitterest enemies. It is destined to bring many more Israeli Arabs to the polls in the next election and if Arabs in Israel enjoy the same political representation as the Jewish majority, they can easily become the biggest political force in Israel.

To turn the country’s attention to overcome the situation Netanyahu took up the issue of evicting Palestinians families in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah area from their homes and settle there Jewish settlers who have not even seen this property. Israeli Supreme court ordered the Palestinians to vacate and hand over the property to Jewish settlers.

Tensions were running high as Israeli settlers swarmed in after court ordered the eviction of Palestinian families. Palestinians protesting in solidarity with the residents of Sheikh Jarrah have been targeted by Israeli forces.

When the controversy was underway Netanyahu despatched troops with shoes to storm the Al Aqsa knowing very well that would provoke Muslims with violent response worldwide? The police rushed through all the gates of Al-Aqsa, maybe 1,000 of them, and started firing rubber bullets, lobbed stun grenades, tear gas, sprayed pepper gas and lobbed stun grenades suffocating the worshipper’s.

At least 305 people were injured as Israeli forces fired rubber-coated bullets, tear gas, and stun grenades at Palestinians who were on guard to prevent possible raids by extremist Jews.

It is sheer Zionist racist arrogance. Netanyahu knows well that the United and Europe remain fully behind him and Arab tyrants would not lift a finger to defend Aqsa Mosque or Palestinians,

Masjid Al Aqsa, the first direction of Muslims, second oldest masjid after Makkah and the third most important holy place in Islam after Makka and Madina, is located in the city of Al Jerusalem, known to Muslims worldwide as Al Quds (The Holy) or Baitul Muqaddis (The House of Holiness).

The historical significance of Masjid Al-Aqsa lies in the fact that the early Muslims turned towards it in prayer for a period of around seventeen months after the Hijra or migration to Medina in 624 AC.

Masjid Al Aqsa is the place where Prophet Ibrahim, the patriarch of all the three great monotheistic faiths -Judaism, Christianity and Islam -prayed. It was in this very same Masjid that Allah resurrected and assembled all the prophets and messengers for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to lead the prayer with them during his divine night journey to the heavens.

Allah chose this Masjid because of its purity, nobility, distinction and highest standing.  The ascension of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), from the rock beneath the Qubbat Al Sakhra Mosque known as Dome of the Rock to heaven remains the loftiest spiritual event in the history of Islam and highlights the importance of Jerusalem for Muslims.

A prominent Israeli orthodox rabbi Melchior has charged that “People around the world don’t understand; commentators think we can ‘win’, but this is about al-Aqsa”, “When Israeli police trample into al-Aqsa with boots and stop one of the holiest prayers, it is one of the gravest transgressions of Islam,” says. “This you don’t do.”

Palestinians fought back with their empty hands.

Dr Hazem Rweidy tried to enter Al-Aqsa as there were a lot of injuries to provide first aid to the injured, but he was prevented from doing so by Israeli troops. “As a doctor, I wanted to help after I heard the distress calls I tried from all the gates, but they didn’t let me in,” Rweidy said.

Staff and volunteers in al-Aqsa washed down the mosque’s courtyards the morning after Laylat al-Qadr, while hundreds of Palestinians rallied under the Dome of the Rock after the dawn Fajr prayer.

In the midst Hamas started firing rockets on Israel. Israel unleashed its traditional barbarity. Thus began the latest conflict which brought disaster, unlike in the past for both sides .For the first time rockets fired by Hamas killed Israelis, damaged Israeli properties, closed down the airports and triggered civil war between Jews and Palestinians all over Israel threatening the entire foundation of Israel.

At the time of writing 197 Palestinians, including 58, children were killed. They were innocent civilians. This is war crimes and Amnesty International said this should be treated as war crimes.

However nothing will happen to Netanyahu and Israel as they are protected by US and European champions of human rights. In fact China announced that US was blocking UN Security Council from issuing a statement criticizing Israel’s crime.

Killing Palestinians with US, UK, French and Russian support has been blood sports for Zionist Jews for almost a century. Now the question is whether Israel will be able to get away with Palestinians taking their fight to their hands dismissing UN.

Today I was in a place north of London named North Finchley .Since I was very concerned for people being killed in Palestine, forced my self to talk to a Jewish rabbi who happened to be in the store. I asked him why there is a severe conflict in that country where the two sides are hell bent in killing one another. He said he would like to say plainly and straight that the non Jewish population is not Muslims but either Christians or Buddhists then according to his opinion the state of Israel find them no threat to their well being and they would live amicably as equal citizens.
I asked him why the Muslims are not in their fold and his reply was, can’t you see they cause all the terrorist acts in London. Paris and other places in the name of their faith reminding us constantly that they are a threat to the well being of the rest of the people who are different and their countries where they are a majority they show very little regard to human life or human rights. To me it looks like their policy is to control the whole area and impose their rule of law that is acceptable to this day and age in most Western countries. That gave me a some thoughts to ponder….

      Noel ,
So, you bought the argument of a Jewish rabbi justifying killing Palestinians based on, ‘they cause all the terrorist acts in London. Paris and other places’. You have to grow, dear.

Exactly. The good Rabbi failed to mention that Israel’s brutal occupation has caused decades long suffering by the Palestinians, and that 2 million Palestinians have to live in an open prison, suffering with no way to get out, no medications, and children traumatized by Israel’s endless bombing, when it politically suits the prime minister.
Netanyahu needs Hamas to justify the occupation and land theft.

      Some facts to ponder…..

What does that got to do with the Israel’s occupation, land theft, illegal settlements, and the killing of kids by sniper, as they protest their suffering? Did the good Rabbi mention that? There are generations of Palestinians who have never known life without endless checkpoints with guns pointed at them, unable to travel out of their territories, have been blockaded for decades, have had their power stations, media, hospitals, and homes bombed wiping out ENTIRE families. Inhumane treatment of unarmed civilians.

As for the Palestinians having disregard for human lives, today the death toll stands at:

222 Palestinians killed including 61 children

10 Israelis killed including 2 children

Think hard now, which side seems to be disregarding human lives?

Hint: The side with a brutal military, deadly weapons, and who has kept these people in open prisons for more than 50 years.

This is NOT a religious war which you seem to blame the Muslims.
There are Christians in Gaza too, and in Israel they burn Churches and Mosques, and hardly anyone is charged. Does that show consideration for other religions?

This is a war about an apartheid rogue nation that has justified their brutal occupation, land theft, and stealing of water, olive trees destroyed, and killing of unarmed civilians, by blaming Hamas. That Rabbi is obviously biased.

Obviously, you met a zionist Rabbi. There are also anti-zionist Rabbis like Rabbi Dovid Feldman, the spokesman for Orthodox Jews against Zionism, also known as Naurei Karta International. These are some of his words regarding the ongoing massacre.

“Unfortunately, what we are seeing in this decade is that Israeli Zionist movement needs attacks against them, in order to justify their war against the Palestinian people.”

“No wonder why the Israeli authorities came up with Sheikh Jarrah evictions to spark outrage among Palestinians.”

“The Zionist movement needs war in order to exist, they need war in order to gain sympathy from the Jewish people,”

“What has been done to Palestinians was wrong, and no progress can be made if the wrongdoing against Palestinians is not addressed.”

“We are opposed to all what Zionism stands for, and we are against the entire occupation. It’s against our religion, it’s against justice, against international law, it’s against humanity.

“It’s against the interest of the Palestinian people, and is against the interests of the Jewish people the world over,”

There’s only one comment on display here as yet, that by Noel. I hate to throw that sort of thing at Muslims, but it is something that they must ask themselves when the dust has settled after these horrendous happenings are over.
    .
Noel, usually, when an article appears on CT, attention is paid to it only for two days, although some of us get frustrated when we run into the seven-day deadline for comments.
    .
This is an article by a retired Professor who wrote many articles when the UNHCHR was debating alleged War Crimes in Geneva. Those articles were not to my liking. However, this was more acceptable. I find that few regular readers have been there these last two days. There’s another day left for comments.

However, lots of new material has now been put on there. No, not put on by me. They are the very balanced views of a doughty old woman who feels very strongly for the Palestinians while appreciating all that the Jews suffered during the holocaust; she has studied what happened there exhaustively for sixty years (she’s even older than that, and since she is alone now with no computer, all that is from a mobile phone.)

This time it is the Palestinians who started with firing rockets, as a result one Indian Nurse was killed. Moreover, it appears that Iran is behind the scene. Generally Israelis are patriots and are loyal to their country. Since there are many Muslims countries why didn’t they join Palestine in attacking Israel, because they knew Palestine was at fault. It is time for Palestine to demonstrate their tolerance. Palestine should try to co-exist with Israel if the want live peacefully.

      Get your facts straight:

“JERUSALEM — Weeks of simmering tensions in Jerusalem between Palestinian protesters, the police and right-wing Israelis suddenly veered into military conflict on Monday, as a local skirmish in the decades-long battle for control of the city escalated into rocket fire and airstrikes in Gaza.

After a raid by the Israeli police on the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem left hundreds of Palestinians and a score of police officers wounded, militants in Gaza responded by firing a barrage of rockets at Jerusalem, drawing Israeli airstrikes in return.

The catalyst for the escalation was the conflict over recent Israeli efforts to remove Palestinians from strategic parts of the city. The issue became a rallying cry for Palestinians, who saw the moves as ethnic cleansing and illegal, and right-wing Israeli Jews, who said they were fighting for their property as landowners while also attempting to ensure Jewish control over East Jerusalem.

The dispute, focused on a single Jerusalem neighborhood, has exploded into a major flare-up in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, gaining world attention after a period in which the Palestinian cause had been largely marginalized — by the United States under President Donald J. Trump, by the Arab countries that normalized relations with Israel, and by Israel, ruled by a right-wing government for more than a decade.”

Even in Israel Muslims are ‘King Makers’. R.Premadasa made Muslims in Sri Lanka ‘King Makers’ by reducing the cutoff point from 12.5% to 5% to get Muslim votes which led to mushrooming of religion and race based political parties. In the new Constitution, this should be raised to 12.5%.

For the first time, rockets fired by Hamas killed Israelis, damaged Israeli properties, closed down the airports and triggered a civil war between Jews and Palestinians all over Israel threatening the entire foundation of Israel.

    Latheef Farook –

When Palestinian fighters fire 3,000 missiles into Israel and kill Jewish citizens, does anyone think that Israel should remain passive and do nothing? The State of Israel has the right to self-defense in the face of missiles hitting them like rainfall.

In November 1947 the United Nations (UN) voted to partition the British mandate of Palestine into a Jewish state and an Arab state (see United Nations Resolution 181). However, Arab countries’ invaded nascent Israel, but Israelites managed to defeat the Arab armies.

Again in 1956 Egypt attacked Israel which ended in Egyptian forces defeated on all fronts. Then came the six-day war in June 1967. Israeli armed forces drove back Syrian forces from the Golan Heights, took control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt and drove Jordanian forces from the West Bank. Importantly, the Israelis were left in sole control of Jerusalem.

There was yet another war in 1973 which lasted through the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, came to an end on October 26. Israel signed a formal cease-fire agreement with Egypt on November 11 and with Syria on May 31, 1974.

If uniformed thugs stormed a temple, and attacked worshippers, injuring hundreds, with stun guns and tear gas, would the Buddhist people be smiling and happy? Or would they want to retaliate? If Israel did not want rockets being sent they should not have stormed a Mosque.

There is no point trying to justify Israel’s war crimes with long rigmarole about the region, and making Israel out to be the victim.

The Palestinians have NO freedom. They have been under a brutal occupation for over 50 years, their lands are being stolen, water is being stolen, their olive trees have been destroyed, stolen, or the fruit stolen by Israel’s terrorist settlers, holding guns. Their children are traumatized and live in fear. They are thrown in jail for no reason, and have no lawyers, and they are abused in jails. The unarmed young kids who protest are killed by snipers, and here the apologists for Israel is justifying all this violence.

“The Israeli government has engaged in a pattern of deadly attacks against residential homes in Gaza, carrying out bombing raids without giving the innocent men, women, and children inside any time to escape, Amnesty International charged on Monday.

The strikes, which show a “shocking disregard” for Palestinian civilians, “may amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity,” the human rights group said.’
