President Sirisena Set To Use Sword On Bond Scammers

President Maithripala Sirisena is set to make a special statement on Wednesday on the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (COI) appointed a year ago to inquire into the issuance of Central Bank Treasury Bonds from February 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016.

Sources close to Sirisena stated that ‘every politician, official who took part will pay heavily in an unprecedented manner.’ The President previously insisted that he would ‘not hesitate to use the sword on friend or relations, regardless of distinctions such as political loyalty or color,’ speaking at the launch of ‘Nidahase Sammuthiya (Covenant on Freedom),’ the policy statement of a coalition of 31 unnamed political parties contesting under the ‘United People’s Freedom Alliance,’ at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall on December 28.

Colombo Telegraph learns that not even Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe knows the contents of the report. It has been reported that officials of the Presidential Secretariat would study the report before advising the President on its contents.

Matta Sira, beware your end is soon. Have you heard the saying, “Those who take the sword will die by the sword”. God makes a person arrogant before his downfall.

Gonna, do you think the president should treat the culprits as “kiri sappayas” acting with no sense of responsibility instead of treating them as die hard criminals evading their responsibilities as guardians of the national assets. I say cut the baskets and make mince meat out of them, if the president has any sense of integrity and public accountability.

Is this at all practical in our society where almost everyone is corrupted and abusive ? To us being out of the country, almost everything look like wrongful acts. .. but many down there would focus only on day today life struggles.

          Thrisu,

I think bond scam and other money scandals are high crimes but even more crimes should be if Royal family deliberately killed someone.
InThadjudin kcase we have all evidence to proveYoshita and his mothers were the ones who killed Thadjudeen.
How can a mother be involved in there, if she has hearts.

All these shouild be given priority than bond scam I think.

Is this a prelude electing the former and aspiring National Hangman Dr Gota (DSc)?
By the way you have forgotten to include Sinhalese.

The best-known version of that truth is “Whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.”

That formulation can be traced back to the “Antigone” of Sophocles; but, of course, he wrote in Greek, which I don’t understand.

We’re all a bit mad – and Gnana, you are one of the maddest!

However, I have done some checking, and I find that there is good evidence for your claim that “Tamil is the oldest living language in the world”, and that Hinduism is the oldest “religion”.

On the other hand, we’d be better off now without ANY religion – at a public level at least. Very necessary – Drive Gnansara and the other monks off the roads! Buddhism is a philosophy, and if studied properly (I haven’t!) can help immensely. But what it yields may not be THE TRUTH. That’s what wise Gauthama himself said – I think.

Gnana, we’ve got to respect what is old. I do. However, that doesn’t mean that Hinduism is relevant to us today.

As for languages, what we are going on are bits of WRITING; we don’t know what it sounded like 4,000 years ago. And language is primarily the SPOKEN word. Gnana, despite your being a Medical man, you’ve obviously studied Tamil well. Tell us, how far back can you go in history before you get stuck? Please give us an honest answer; it will help us all.

For starters, my “mother tongue” is not my strongest language. With English, which I’ve been teaching, I get stuck beyond 1350, – the later Middle English of Chaucer.

The earlier similar article about Maithripala Sirisena, where comments are still open, saw me being targetted as “racist shit” – owing to my factually accurate but provocative pseudonym. That was by Dutch Burghers. I’ve responded politely to the personal things said there. I must go back there and add to the 103 responses. Please gravitate that way tomorrow.

You say we have to respect the old and that you do. Why?
And how do you “respect” anything – old or new? Is there anything here more than a negative – not disrespect etc. ?

            Dear Battler,

I have no illusions about myself. I spend hours trying to understand what is happening, but still don’t!

However, Battler, don’t you think that although we can’t really prevent the country from being damaged, it is our duty to try to contain that damage?

You have this advantage over me; you clearly know who I am, whereas I haven’t got any idea who you are. Of course, I realised that such would be the case when I clearly revealed my identity to all readers. Must you be so sarcastically dismissive of my observations, though? I’m just doing the little that I can, and it is clear that I have achieved little – throughout life.

I wonder whether Tamil_Man is my philosophy teacher in days of yore at Peradeniya. No, I don’t think that we need really respect what is four thousand years old, but when there are those to whom such things mean a lot, isn’t it just sensible (nothing to do with whether it is ethical or not) to not pick quarrels on such things. Is that being cowardly, Sir?

Sirisena is playing his cards close to his chest.
Sirasa TV is doing his dirty work by continuously discussing the bind scam and making reference to some senior UNP guys as thieves.
He will use the bond report as his trump card when he needs it for his personal survival or as a weapon for election advantage. Nothing will happen for the moment and that is definite.

Past track record of action taken on reports submitted by Presidential commissions are very poor.

MY3 was the person to change the position for FCID commissioner who worked brave calling even former idiots to investigations.

That alone proved the emptiness Mr Sirisena’s words.

And the fact, Sirasa to stand against UNP is made by President led groups.

Besides, President and PM were against Rajpakashes from the day one, now President to support Rajapakshes will destroy everything.

If Bank scam to be focused above even murder cases of former first family, can have all unexpected consequences. And JVP WILL create and another 89 style unrest era, if Rajapakshes would have been made come back

I do not believe anything promised by a politician until I see the results! Many promises were given but only a handful were met. I give the credit to Yahapalanaya for stopping the politically motivated murders and also opening up the media freedom. It is way better than the MR Mafia gang’s ruling time. Before punishing the bond scammmers you need to punish the MR thugs for all murders they committed. Everyone knows what they are and I am not going to waste my time describing them!

Sirisena is a current generation poly-tikka; I have no respect for them even to call them politicians. By definition they are liars, cheaters, deceptionists and conmen. Some are murderous thugs, criminals, holding their power by help of criminal gangs, intimidation of voters in rural areas, through fear intimidation and all sorts of devious means. They are FARTHEST FROM BEING GOOD BUDDHISTS, so please do not use that “not a good buddhist” ploy as a means of cajoling MS to act on the Commission’s Report. They do not believe in Buddhism, just fake showmen. There are millions of good buddhists in the world, and please do not insult them by putting this president or PM in their category.
My take is this president like others before him in SLK, except perhaps Premadasa, will keep mincing and manipulating his words of punsihments to the criminals that perpetrated this bond scam crime, but he will not act at all. He will just bury the reports in the analysis, and process web in the government machinery, his advisors, AG department etc, claiminmg that they are still studying and that he is unable to do anything until they advise further.
The press-call is just window dressing for his false intentions to make a political capital by misleading voters in the forthcoming election. That will be the only useful purpose of the Report before he consigns it to File 13, the Garbage Can at AG department to be chewed over by minor trainee lawyers as part of their on the job training. If Dappula Livera has not been transferred out of the Department by then, he might make something out of it ………. but Sirisena, sorry I have no confidence in him that he would swing that sword, or even has the strnegth to lift it up.

That time “Kaiyum Kanakkum sari”, (the count of fingers and the count of the pennies will be matching). Now it looks like he targeting on UNP only.

President has read the report. President was watching Ravi Karunanayake or the Cabinet modifying foreign exchange control act so that none of the money launderers would be prosecuted. The strange thing is when money was brought undeclared and if caught, they have to pay only 1%. President should not have wasted time asking law enforcement to be active and arresting the thieves because the bond scam happened three times, one during the 100 day govt, later twice after the general election. It may be PRESIDENT IS CHEATING THE VOTERS A SECOND TIME. first time when he dissolved the govt just before the COPE 1 report coming out to hide the scam. Now, the municipal election is ahead. Otherwise, there are so many scams going on. How come president pretends he doe snot know anything. They are spending billions on importing low quality fertilizer. (which cause kidney failures because of polluted ground water) why don’t they build a manufacturing plant with that money. President is talking about the SWORD after three years at the top. what did he do this long with all those files hanging around ?

You looks very soft on Muslims and Tamils. You drank over 100,000 Tamils blood only just before 9 years and now you are thirsty to drink another 100000 Muslims blood. So, 2018 is a joy for Lord Buddha’s lion born animals.

Another New year Joke is Bond Scam Ranil has issued a new year message which JVP news blog has published and it talks about good governance, social and political changes. Unbelievably shameless kalusuddhas. Thailand has given about 14000 years jail term for a scammer who cheated some 144 people. In Sri lanka after cheating the whole country, RAVI THE LIAR is talking about corrupt Central Bank. Unfortunately, President is unaware all those and only the public knows. All the talks until the February 10th. After that as usual.

It’s no point in making promises when one cannot fulfil the promises, The one who makes the Promises a fool so too the ones goes on believing a Fool .
Are the people really fools to be taken for a ride??
The Presdent has a will to change the country , but ,! but it’s difficult to understand him even after 3 years. Is HE PLAYING WITH FIRE OR WITH OUR CONSCIENCE AND OUR INTELLIGENCE.
WANT TO TAKE HIM SERIOUS , BUT ON THE OTHER HAND HE CANNOT BE TRUSTED TOO!!
      A BIG DILEMA FOR ALL.
HE HAS A HOUSE FULL OF THIEVES AND MURDERERS IN THE PARLAMENT.
HOW CAN HE BE TRUSTED?? mmmmmmm……….
He definitely had to be one of them too to be dancing with known Devils!!!
Truth hurts for some but truth is wisdom. Lies never wins over the truth.
      It’s a fact.
Hope people can understand my logic.

        Analyst
Logic is based on facts. Fact of the matter is that the promises made in 2015 by My3 has turned out to be false. Just empty rhetoric, like the blunt sword that he is now threatening to use.
It is just a stunt to dupe the people during the run up to the LG elections. If the voters understand that, they will exercise their franchise wisely. The task is to keep them informed.

People aren’t waiting to know the culprits because they already know but they want to enjoy the weight & the gravity it’d carry when announced officially.

Unlike Colombo Media’s dust raising, Ranil is safe by the representation he gave to the Commission. Ravi has been protected. Some non-Vellala Tamils and non-govigama Sinhalese will pay to protected the heros. I heard many Central Bank junior level employees were already kicked out as involved in Bondscam.

It is ok to sacrifice a ram on the altar of God just to get a human patience better in health. After this, Yahapalanaya will the cleanest political team ever appeared on the earth.

We, commentators, have a nice time making guesses – hidden in the 1400 pages is
what was required by MS similar to MR and his Files on Politicians etc. This will
be kept alive with ease, as the AG will at a stage declare that there is insufficient
evidence to make charges under the present Rules – his decision is final? GG at
its best? More material for JVP etc. speech-making for another decade.

We hope the President will take action on all corrupt, the bond scammers and others irrespective of their party affiliations. Such action would restore confidence in you and people who consider you as a person with empty words & threats.

Such action will also be a deterrent for any politicians to misuse the system in future.

My intelligent guess is that any voluminous report will have some sort of a summary and that summary cannot run into books. Typically, I assume can be say 10 pages. MS cannot be that uneducated or illiterate not to read that 10 pages and understand what to do next. In fact he should have read at least that by now. MS must respect the fact that it is the people who are sovereign and publish the report provided that the publication of it would not lead the country to chaos. The trusted Presidential advisers must be studying the full implications of various recommendations made. More the publication is delayed we the ordinary folk is likely to believe that the report would be used as a bargaining tool to achieve political objectives.

    Dear Good Sense,

MS is highly intelligent, but given the way he was elected, he’s trapped.

Some blame does accrue to him, but he is still our best bet.

However, let none of us vote for him unless he shows us during the next five weeks, that he means business. If not, vote JVP!

On no account should we boycott the poll. Please look at the earlier article about Sirisena wielding the sword (kaduwa). Comments still open – 104 at present. For begging people to vote after thinking, I was referred to as “shit” by guys living abroad and using pseudonyms. My identity is known – I’ve given it in a comment in the earlier article.

Scattering my name everywhere serves little purpose. I’m trying to convey GENERAL TRUTHS while giving solid, verifiable facts.

A guy cleverer by far than me is Dr Rajan Hoole. As he says, John Stuart Mill’s verifiability was greatly improved by Karl Popper’s theory of “falsifiability”.

Now let us hope that Rajan’s brother and two others get the election conducted properly. All this talk is fine; now influence others; if you have the courage, tell the rogues who come asking for your vote, why you will deny them that; lastly VOTE yourself!

I do not understand why would a commission report on two incidents of suspected fraud would run into three volumes and 1400 pages. There is no question substantial part of the report not worth enough to throw on Meethotamulla and set fire on that. Without doubt, creating this much volume is to make bug passed to AG’s assistant, who condemned to read this rubbish. Neither New King nor AG will be responsible for anything following as they will not officially read this garbage before any reasonable time, if they ever would.

  • 1

President should do ‘Harakiri’ using the sword because by dissolving the Parliament without allowing the COPE report to be presented he became an accomplice to the Bond Scams that followed. If he allowed the COPE report to be presented and took action against the culprits, the bond scammers would not have gone for the second and third rounds. That would have saved billions of Rupees. As the Executive President he is supposed to take action but he did not take action at the right time because he wanted to save the UNP Bond Scammers who helped him to become the President. He should have put the country first. Now he cannot put the blame on others and hide.

Very observant of you eagle eye. Gamarala goes on a broadside against the UNP and trying to distance himself from the stench of corruption from the bond scammers, but he is equally to blame for this National Tragedy.
