Ranil And UPFA Rebel Group Lock Horns In Parliament

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who got into a heated argument with some UPFA rebel group members in parliament yesterday called them “Pimps”, “Gypsies”, “Donkeys” “Beggars” and “Monkeys”.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe

Ranil’s antics were shown live on TV as the “House” had decided to telecast its sittings live from yesterday onwards. The move facilitated viewers with terrific entertainment.

Ranil ran “amok” in the house after being heckled by the UPFA rebel group members.

The “War of Words” between Ranil and the UPFA rebel group started when MP Dinesh Gunawardena stood up to make a special statement on the recent Central Bank employee transfers, without seeking prior approval.

Gunewardena urged the government to immediately revoke the transfers made recently at the CB noting that the government was targeting CB employees who raised their voice against the recent bond scam.

However, the government members opposed Gunewardena making a special statement as he had not sought prior approval, according to parliament traditions.

The UPFA rebel group meanwhile said that Gunewardena could make the statement if a minimum of 20 MP’s supported the move, according to existing norms.

Ranil was clearly irked by the move of the UPFA rebels and shot back calling them the above names and asking Gunewardena to repeatedly sit down.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had no control of the proceeding and had to adjourn the parliament for ten minutes.

Meanwhile Gunewardena continuing his assertion later stated that the crisis in the Central Bank was due to the behaviour of the CB Governor.

The MEP leader said that the reputation and credibility of the Central Bank was at a grave risk due to the Governor’s arbitrary decisions.

Ranil yesterday especially was irked by the behavior of Wimal Weerawansa and Vasudeva Nanayakkara in addition to Gunewardena.

Ranil and Vasudeva locked horns at a recent debate in parliament as well with Vasu who went overboard with anger calling Ranil a `pakaya`.

Later Ranil hit back at Nanayakkara calling him a ‘dried pumpkin’ who had lost the prime of his life.

“He is a dried pumpkin. This is how defeated people behave,” the Prime Minister said when referring to . Nanayakkara’s use of language and his theatrics in parliament.

Meanwhile with the affairs of the “House” going live on TV, the viewership had gone up sharply after the word got out about the heated arguments yesterday, a media research organization said.

According to them with such entertainment at hand, the live telecast of parliamentary affairs might be one of the most sought after programmes on TV in the future.

Dinesh is frustrated as his case against the appointment of National list MP is disallowed. So , Keep your calm and composure PM !! We know it is hard, but we like it that way.

We expect Ranil to behave exactly the way he behaved
with the racist losers. It is very important to let the
people know that they sent to parliament donkeys, pimps
pigs and monkeys to represent them.Come on Ranil blast
them off! You had been unbearably cool for too long. And
now it is Christmas time and give them wholesale !

I agree with you. Sometimes you need to give as good as it gets, and fight to be a man. Kindness, mannerism and courtesy can wait. We are dealing with a bunch of hooligans, bribe takers, murderers, rapists, gold chain snatchers and kassippu and ethanol dealers, and all big time offenders. Then what better way to address them than what they deserve. Go ahead Ranil, expose them. We are with you all the way.

It was not Dinesh, but DEW Gunasekara who had his case ‘thrown out’ as those appointments outside of National List was accepted and signed off by the Speaker, and thus could not be challenged in a Court, was the reason given.

The question from the opposition was legitimate. The Central Bank employees who let the cat out of the bag re. the Bond Scam, in the national interest did us a favour. To victimise them this way by the Governor of the Central Bank, the main culprit, is beyond the pale. That he is still in post, protected by RW is disgraceful.
By the way, can you wield a knife. If so, a well paid job awaits you with the ISIS.

Although Ranil Wickramasinghe dresses like a gentleman his behaviour is utter disgusting. He should learn how to behave in a more dignified manner because he is our Prime Minister. There is no point him acting like Vasudeva Nanayakkara. Questioning about the central bank should not be taken as a personal attack on him. The opposition had a valid point and it should be dealt with democratically not by shouting them down.

Ranil’s dictatorial way or “my way or highway” kinda attitude is now becoming a every day scenario in the parliament. He did this in the UNP and now he is trying this in the Parliament since the day he became the Prime Minister. He met his waterloo one day when he shouted at Vasudeva to sit down when he was trying to speak on a point of order (not condoning the fact that Vasu used the word Pakaya”) but increasingly Ranil’s antics are justifying Vasu’s choice of words the other day under sever anger….Unless Ranil learns to behave and respect the office of Prime Minister and the members of the parliament in the government and opposition he is going to be faced with issues such as this every day…he should not try his dictatorial management styles he implemented in the UNP to silence the UNP rebels in the Parliament. Keep up the good work UPFA rebels you are the only opposition in this parliament now!!!

How foolish! Dried Pumpkin met his Waterloo showing his true nature. What RW said is perfect truth. They get a taste of their own medicine. They are ugly people who brought ugliness even to parliment. RW is correct. They are pimps and gypsies who came into parliment by mistake. RW used the correct names for their ugly behavior. Royal education should not prevent RW from dealing with beasts.

He can’t keep covering the rotting carcass of Perpetual with his bare hands, when it stinks to high heavens every time the Elite , Anglicans and the Vellalas fund the 22.5 Million additional 3 % from their PAYE tax to Galleon’s Treasury.

The latest is that Ranil has promised a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate the Bond issues.

No wonnder he was helping his mate to transfer, demote or sack over 100 staff who knew what was going on.

And Ranil’s excuse for the transfers, These people have been in their positions for 5 years ,and the others are not up to it.

This “fracas” relating to the transfers at the CB is definitely going to have rippling effects in the entire administration of this pivotal Governmental organization of the entire financial functions of the country. The CB Governor once explained those “transfers” were normal and routine, while the Minister of Finance said publicly that those were all needed to be done as “disciplinary” matters. Now the Opposition has taken it up to the Parliament and engaged the Prime Minister on to a “war of words”, stooping to the lowest levels and unbecoming of a Prime Minister of a country, ending up with “arrogance” and firm declaration those transfers would not be interfered to. What are the “EFFECTS” of all this? A clear “DIVISION” among the staff affected and a high level of “FRUSTRATION” and “ANTAGONISM” that would give rise to a poor level of “MORALE” and perhaps “Underhand Disruptions”. This whole thing has gone “out of control” and the CB Chief and the Government will have a very “TOUGH” time ahead in putting this “HOUSE” in order. Who are at the receiving end? None other than the PEOPLE. Where are we heading?

Ranil And UPFA Rebel Group Lock Horns In Parliament

Ranil Wickramasinghe’s conduct in Parliamenthas become very much unbecoming of himself, this year in particularly – the change is due to unwinding power suddenly installed on him after being frustratingly in the opposition for 20 long years, where he was calm and collective in approaching the affairs and was very successful in that way. This can happen to anybody by feeling power of indefinite and can be cause of downfall as well. Recent change is achieved through that notion only (MARA assuming unwinding power of unlimited for being autocratic), thus THE CHANGE ACHIEVED SHALL NOT CHANGE THE PERSONAL INTEGRITY OF A PERSON, PARTICULARLY THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE NATION, HAVING ELECTED TO PARLIAMENT WITHE THE HIGHEST PREFERENTIAL VOTES THAN ANYBODY ELSE, the comedians behaviour should not be copied you Prime Minster, it is your normal style only attracted the HIGHEST PREFERENTIAL VOTES for you.

I can understand Ranil’s frustration and the resulting words. However, this situation is something he has to cope with and act with as much restraint he can summon, given the overall quality of our parliament.

RW, please don’t stoop down to the level of these discards and dried pumpkins. Dinesh needs to have a lesson in management. The central bank is an independent institution with a monetary board of directors. Decisions of the central bank are the prerogative of the governor who is the CEO. The last thing the country needs now is to have these pimps and monkeys from parliament interfering in the affairs of the bank. They have no qualifications in central banking and I doubt whether they even understand the role of the bank. Its a tragedy that these discards managed to creep in to the parliament. Their presence in parliament only contaminates the air of decency and don’t let yourself be upset by these fools who sooner or later are going to be brought before the justice system. My advise to you is to speed up law enforcement, get rid of the AG and his puppets as well as all the other nincompoops who are still working in the public sector and trying to protect the deposed king and family and sycophants. Time now for a major clean up and congratulations to the central bank governor who has started the ball rolling. Take a leaf from the governor who has a good understanding of corporate governance.

The unpalatable and inconvenient truth is Sri Lankan governance is collapsing – beginning from the utter chaos introduced by the Apey Anduwa “revolution” of 1956 – the birth of Sinhala Buddhist majoritariansm. The ill-educated Mahinda R be thanked for expediting the process of rapidly dismantling what was left of governance left by the British as he chose to treat the government and its resources as subject to the whims and fancies of his “personal fiefdom”. Cost of Living is crushing the people below the lower middle class. They are surviving on meals of rice and the cheaper vegetables. Proteins are getting further and further away from them. There have been many instances where people are killing each other just to survive. Desperate youth are even breaking into banks in downtown Colombo. The ranks of the unemployed is growing staggeringly and small-medium businesses/industries are unable to pay the high wages now in force.

The sword of majoritarianism aimed at the minorities 60 years ago has come round 360 degrees to hurt everyone. The turmoil and disorder in Parliament will continue and spill to the streets. Army rule is a distinct possibility. More people, not just the Tamils, will risk their lives to flee – merely to survive and save their families.

These are not the thoughts of a dark prophet but the reality of the day. It appears even divine intervention is not for us.

This is no defense of the behaviour of the likes WW or Vasudeva.

However, those of us who have followed RW from his early days know that this behaviour is in line with his past actions.

His attitude to any leaderships challenges.

His antics when CBK presented the package in 2000.

His actions and attitude/arrogance with regards to the peace process….all point to the same thing.

    Arrogance !

The bafoons who interepted you supposed to be a rebel group of the UPFA are a frustrated lot and they took poor Mahinda Rajapakse up the garden path. They do not believe in parliamentary democracy and want to criticize every thing this government is doing for the benefit of the country especially trying to wipe out bribery and corruption. The transfers at the Central Bank were justified as they were stooges of the former Governor Nivard Cabral and Mahinda Rajapakse. They should answer to the hedging deal of the Petroleum Corporation , Greek bond scam etc.
Frustrated politicians like Dinesh Gunawardena he cardboard Sando who was accused of wrong doings when he was in charge of the Urban Development Authority and the Water Board has skeletons in his cupboard. Welgama is a notorious despot who was Transport Minister and his antics with women is known to the entire country..Gampanpila and Weerawamsa are no political leaders and were trying to hang to Rajapakse’s satakaya but failed to bring him to power.I hope the people will realize their folly and wipe them out at the next election.

The journalistic language used must not raise the ire or the emotions of the reader as in this case. The journalist reporting any incident must basically report the incident and not colour it with inciting words and references especially when reporting Parliamentary proceedings. Let the facts speak for themselves. In this case as in many cases I have noticed today that Journalists put more than their two cents worth into their reporting in unnecessary efforts to heighten their writing in the assumption that more people will read it and get attracted to their article. There should be far more responsibility when reporting items and news on the part of journalists. Today I presume journalists who engage in such puerile reporting are immature and inexperienced and resort to any and every gutter type reporting to serve their own purpose or the purpose of their “sponsors”. In the good old days when there was in fact far more freedom of speech and writing, reporters and journalists were of the highest grade and their reporting and journalistic skills were immaculate, they had acode of ethics which they never deviated from. What a pity. Probably the signs of the times, when everything is deteriorating so will “journalism.”

Sirisena is shutting the mouths of the SLFP in parliament by giving ministries in a so called national govt: Ranil is doing the same with the media indirectly and the real opposition by behaving in parliament like a bull in a china shop. This is a systemic operation conducted by RW & MS to stifle the democratic opposition in and outside parliament to face criticism by the people who will face difficult times in the future and the fallout from Geneva resolution.

is it not crystal clear that he governor of the CB doesn’t have the support of it staff after the infamous kick off of by him by carrying out the biggest insider dealing scandal in the country and defaming the prestige of the institution. thus the only course of action is a bang theory style nullifying corrective action with a series of very improper transfers, very much in line with growing authoritarianism. RW s attitude and arroganceitself reveals his administration style which by no means go down too well with cb staff or any organisation for that matter. The concerned transfers were a mater of grave concern that destabilised the bank and had openly victimised officers who dealt with the bond scam . you’re free to take another look at the draft cope report also published by this very site refer it’s observations and come to an unbiased conclusion.

Governor of the CB, even now, does not have loyal staff; forget his “own” staff; he has none. He has the Rajapakse staff. The so-called Bond Scam was the same thing that happened under the Mahinda Rajapaksa lickspittle Nivard Cabraal a million times, and no so-called patriots ever questioned them. The transfers relate to those guys who engineered those scams. Let’s not be any doubt whatsoever.

Drama is at very high top.

So far New Royal government has not taken even a tiny step to educate the Sinhala Buddhist that 145,000 has been killed by the former Royal government and the world knows it; if Lanka keep telling them lies as zero casualties by creating fake and eye washing commissions with defense lawyers like Paranagama, Desmond De Silva, etc they will be keep utilizing Lankawe; So it is time for Lankawe to finish the matter and go beyond; at least on the 34th UNHRC sitting they need to talk something different rather than repeating known lies.
Launching fights with the used out and empty Dinesh, Dayan, Vasu… is only part of the drama. This is to return him back the pressure Sec. Kerry giving. After giving freedom to Lankawe in every term stipulated the DS and other Sinhala Intellectuals and hitting the Tamil maximum, Britain tried to keep a Base in Lankawe. It did not work. Rajiv and India took their lessons. India – Lankawe accord is still their without any value. America has got the resolution co-sponsored with Lankawe. It has no value. There is no “something known as working with Lankawe’s’ Royal governments”.
TNA knowingly defeated Old Royal government and paved the way to cheat one more time with these theoretical performances. Otherwise by, now after winning the election one more time, Old King would have taught the lessons to China too and China would have ended to bring the resolution to Security Council.
China has a full sovereignty land piece at Colombo Port. The real value of that piece is not in billions, it is in trillions. It has an immeasurable value for China. None of its harbors on the String of Perl can equal to that. There is no any easy way to squeeze China to spit it out. So, like America ended up giving way to Russia in Syria, in Lankawe India and America has to give the way to China. That ultimate victory for Lankawe and China will be the last day for Tamils too.
By this drama what Ranil is telling is he cannot start any investigation until next year, when Sec.Kerry loses his job. There is only one option left for Sec. Kerry. That is whether to borrow Ambassador Blake’s words or Manmohan Sings word to report to the Congress.

    China has .

It has come the greatest moments of the times for Sri Lankans to unite in common causes that will take the nation forward by demanding the heads of the government and its Ministers and all other members of the house to let a true Public commission be set up of members of all communities with a clean past record and pass legislation for such Committee to oversee everything , from tender proceedings ,finances , appointment of government employees to the Police in particular , and to make sure that no Politician interferes with the Police and that no Politician or The Police bows their head to anyone when excising their duties .

It is high time The government stops bickering about the past regime, This has always been a pastime Politics to sidetrack on promises by all successive governments , they better start delivering , what we need to see is like promised by The PM to see a hundred Planes parked in Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport , and address the grievance of our farmers which has been ignored by every government ,and set up new mechanism to protect their harvest ,until any government address our poor hard working farmers their curse will never let anyone live in peace in this country , the biggest injustice that every single government has always done is to our farmers , Politicians should fear the retribution of their curse, so do not use the Mattala airport to get even with Mahinda , (it is like cutting the nose to spite the face ) the world is not going to appreciate that ,instead we as Sri lankan will continue to be a laughing stock, to date am still to see a government , that has been able to serve the nation with true sincerity , which I believe is by ,providing the same comfort that the Politicians enjoy to all people , that is to provide comfortable public transport by train and bus(yes it is a must, to be air-conditioned why not? if all the waste is stopped it is 100% achievable) national housing ,university entrance and all government jobs should be prorated accordingly to ethnic percentages , and all public institutions must be truly part Peoplised, part government owned and part contracted to a foreign country with funds and modern technology, this could be even considered for our farmers to go into large scale farming , before bringing in the GST Plus these are more important to deal with and will generate immediate jobs and help us have our produce to meet our own food needs to begin with, how much of money is unnecessarily wasted on imported food without developing our farmers ,,,

I believe we had enough of this past tried and tried and utterly failed game play of what each successive government been up-to , either it is bickering about the past regime or setting up the people against each other using ethnicity or religious hatred. .

We need to see a Switzerland politically -Sri Lanka and there is no other system that can propel this nation’s economy which is completely depended on making allowance to provide dignity to all its people by respecting and ushering first and foremost tolerance and creating a sound and relatively secure environment where all peoples of this nation can live without fear or discrimination, to date even the present government has failed in all the above requirements, how can you even think of implementing anything that is good for the people , you still are governing this country with the same constitution , same Mindsets ,same attitudes which has seen only bitter violence , hatred , and bloodshed, Until you change the constitution and mindsets which may mean if you having to use some iron fist handling of some people who try to jeopardize the progress it should be considered , until people of this nation can choose a life they consider is their comfort zone to live by ,I assure you not a hundred Mahindas,Sirisenas or Ranils put together will ever succeed in building this country .

    Switzerland’s political System
    =============================

scanned and share as brief as Possible
    —————————————-

    Switzerland’s System of Direct Democracy
    —————————————-
What country has a direct democracy?
Switzerland is a rare example of a country with instruments of direct democracy (at the level of the towns, cantons and federal state). Citizens have more power than in a representative democracy.
    ————————————————————–
Switzerland.- Direct Democracy is to embody a popular sovereignty within a multi-ethnic, multilingual and multi-confessional society (multi-confessional- multiethnic population, which allows worship of any form of God, be it Allah, Yahweh, Jesus, or Buddha. of cause protected by the law of the state, not just paper talk)

    —————————————————————————-

citizens’ law-making is exercised on all political levels – including almost 3,000 autonomous municipalities, 26 sovereign states and on the common, federal level.

Switzerland is still a representative democracy. are decided by parliament. however, citizens are entitled to call for a general vote on most of the law decided by the Parliament if they they feel it is required .

To call for such a vote , 50,000 signatures (approximately one per cent of the electorate ) within 100 days of the publication of a new law is required . such votes are rarely called upon because The Members of the House are extremely scrupulous of their work, being full aware the power of the people to able to check their work and the Swiss public will always do so to maintain the high level of comfort zone each community enjoys and will not permit anything to jeopardize that, which is why the Swiss political mechanism has succeeded , because the people regardless of their linguistic, religious and ethnicity differences have a common platform where the people can come together as one nation for the sake of safeguarding the Country and all its people .

The basic and important rule of Swiss democracy is that is is controlled by the citizens of the country, who have the last word on all constitutional changes by the government & parliament including most international treaties.

    ——————————————————

Sri Lanka should come up with a similar home grown system,if they are sincerely serious to see the Country to one day stand tall at least in South Asia sub continent

Fahim’s idea of presenting the system in Switzerland is a good one. We have to take a look at other systems that have been successful as well as those that have not been, in order to decide what is best for us.

The problems is that our politicians are mostly mutts who are completely incapable of engaging in intellectuals exercises. So at least the people should do it.

This is a good suggestion but comparisons have to be meaningful. Look at the population of Switzerland, 8 million vs our Western Province population of 5 million. Our land area is 65,000 sq km and theirs is 45,000 sq km. They are developed, rich country with rich neighbors in a region where war ended more than 60 years ago.

Look for an Asian model – Malaysia, Japan, South Korea – Singapore again is too small for a meaningful comparison.

Best governments in the world – Google it. All rich Western mostly. (from a website)

However what you did for Sri Lanka in Japan is a great achievement and you brought honour to this country and they recognised this by giving you the rare privilege of addressing the Japanese Parliament and also personally meeting Emperor Hirohito.
So as you critics scream out on your minor lapses your greater achievements stand out so this is what matters as far as the nation is concerned

Sri Lankans -Do not put to-much trust in any particular Politician ,or any foreign ally no more – Love your race ,love your religion , but allow plenty of space in your heart for tolerance for people of your Country who believe different ,think different, look different ,who worship different ,who eat different , and those who also have no belief in religion . Stand together as one people on a common Platform where The Country first and as one people .This may be our Last chance we owe to our children, only through tolerance and tolerance alone will come peace, harmony ,security and prosperity in a nation of people with various culture and beliefs, History has thought us that Human is born to be free and to tie him in bondage against his will and to force him to live by what he has no desire in will only bring misery and destruction to a nation .

the Tyrant was not even apologetic, he even refused to take responsibility and the worst mockery ,that can never be explained, he was never even punished or tried by and he died a natural ,normal death..

    ———————–

How right is it to pick and choose to punish some tyrants and let others go free?

you decide , do we go on complaining and wasting time on the past? or forgive ,forget and move on and create a new system ,give everyone a second chance and bring in an honest judicial system that will make sure no one will b above the law and no one will even think twice to commit the crimes of the past and no blood shall be shed on this land ever again.

It is for the people to start thinking, if you are willing to continue to believe blindly ,follow blindly with out investigating the truth and let your minds be polluted ,by people who use religion and racism to achieve their own agendas , then it is you the people who are responsible for any future calamity that may fall on the people and this country, not God nor karma is responsible ,but the unwillingness of the people to learn tolerance and be able to think independently while holding onto whatever they believe in let it be religion, atheism or being agnostic, love your race sincerely and display that love by making daily sacrifice , share what you can afford and uplift the ones who are poor ,not by fabricating lies against others and setting one people against thee other that is not love of your race, it is the greatest evil you do to humanity in the name of religion and race .

Will The people of sri Lanka ever wake up????????? The only way is to investigate whatever you hear , before you come to any conclusion ,let it be something you hear from your best friend, your relative ,your own parents ,even your clergy, as an intelligent being you have a responsibility to investigate and know the truth and not to stoop to the lowness of some individuals who instigate hatred by lies and who enjoy to see others suffer and bring mischief and create instability in the country , People who are used to living as parasites will never change, what is important is not to become a host to these parasites.
