Sagala Denies Meeting Senarath But Pussyfoots Around President’s Allegations

Minister of Law and Order and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayaka has remained silent on allegations made by President Maithripala Sirisena to the effect that he, Ratnayake, was stymying investigations into wrongdoing by the Rajapaksas and those close to the regime.

Ratnayaka, in a media release has denied having met Gamini Senarath, Chief of Staff of then President Mahinda Rajapaksa, but has avoided responding to the allegations levelled against him by the President.

In the media release, the minister has categorically denied having met or having had any dealings with Senarath, claiming that he has no reason to do so.

However, Ratnayaka has remained silent on the allegations made by Maithripala Sirisena that it was he, Ratnayaka, who was sitting on files related to investigations of wrongdoing by the Rajapaksa.

The Sunday Times reported that when UNP stalwarts Kabir Hashim, Mangala Samaraweera and Malik Samarawickrama had met the president to inquire about delays in prosecution, the President had stated that it was a UNP minister who should be blamed.

The Sunday Times reported that the President had said “don’t blame me,” and that he had then “identified a UNP minister in the Cabinet by name and said he was responsible for passing information to members of the Rajapaksa family on matters relating to investigations.”

“This minister had also allegedly brought pressure on the Police to slow down investigations,” the report adds.

Colombo Telegraph’s investigations have revealed that the minister thus named was in fact Sagala Ratnayaka. According to the report the President was informed about the Ratnayake-Senarat association by intelligence officers who had followed the latter to the former’s house.

The President, moreover, is reported to have complained about Ratnayaka to Rajitha Senaratne, in Qatar.

Colombo Telegraph learns that ministers Samarawickrama and Senaratne had complained to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe about Ratnayaka and called for his sacking.

In July, Ratnayaka along with Wickremesinghe had met the President and assured him that files related to the investigation had been handed over to the Attorney General. It is now apparent that despite such assurances, Ratnayaka, possibly with the knowledge of Wickremesinghe, had effectively blocked the investigation. (By Renuka Jayasinghe)

FCID was hunting Gamini Senarath but Gamini Senarath and others gone on hiding which means they had prior knowledge of their imminent arrest. GS and others gone before Supreme Court seeking preventing of their arrest by the FCID. 06th Nov. Lawyers informed the Magistrate Court that GS and others will surrender to the Court on 09th Nov. There was no arrest, no order for remand as the case now before the Supreme Court. Today, 13th Now there is a news that GS and others were remanded until 15th Nov. This sudden move came after disclosure of Sagala Ratnayaka’s involvement in the case. Probably SG is behind delaying or dragging cases related to Rajapaksha family and his close associates. Devinuwara Nilame, Daisy Aachchi’s Gem Bags story, case related to Namal Rajapaksha, Yoshitha Rajapaksha, Shiranthi Rajapaksha, Sajin Vaas Gunawardana, Priyath Banduwickrama, Ananda Samarakoon, Gotabaya Rajapaksha and other high profile cases.
IGP Pujith Jayasundara behaving like a crazy man conducting seminars and “Bhawana Panthi” for Police officers but Minister is keeping silent. For Gods sake go home along with Wajira Abewardana or join JO before people take Law on to their hands.
President Sirisena also should instruct the AG to release files belongs to Dilan Perera, Anura Priyadarshana yapa, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Susil Premajayatha and other SLFP crooks as officers in the AG office probably involved in delaying in prosecuting them. As commander of forces President Sirisena ask relevant authorities to expedite high profile cases such as Wasim Thajudeen, Lasantha Wickramathunga, Prageeth Eknaligoda, killing of 11 youths. UNP backbenchers should get together and chase these goons out as they chased Wijedasa Rajapaksha.

      Sagala Ratnayaka.

How much did Mahinda Rajapaksa and Cronies have given you so far, and promised in the future, from the stolen billions?

Sagala’s bro and Gota are best of pals. Birds of a feather. Install some politicians who are not under any obligation and then only can we expect the wheels of justice to start moving.

the six most atrocious appointments made by RW were Ravi, Sagala, Wijedasa, John, Malik and Arjuna Mahendran. Making a mockery of good governance. He has compromised all of these super important ministries.

I voted for the UNP but I am fed-up with all politicians today. They are all scoundrels. Its a reality game that is being played at the expense of the people. How can we get all these rogues from MR, Gota, Basil, Sirisena to Ranil uprooted from local politics including the current Parliamentarians .

The only emerging leader Anura Kumara Disanayake is also turning to be an utter disappointment.

There will be MANY in your boat Gune; many, who have been completely disappointed and disillusioned with the UNP!

Their ‘selective justice’ system has made lots of people fed up to their back teeth. “Never again” is a refrain I have heard from practically everyone I meet.

The reason? – Ah, they couldn’t do simple things properly and expeditiously. That’s all.

        boni the truth

Anura Kumara Dissanayake was three years old in 1971 unless of course he forged his birth certificate to get employment. I wonder where LTTE got the idea for a baby brigade.

Why President MS complaining to Rajitha? Is the latter the President’s mentor or big daddy? Has n’t the President got Executive powers anymore to fire both Sagala and Ranil, the two big butts? Does he think that the blame game could be used for ever as an excuse for not taking any decisive action against both MR rogues and Bond Scam rogues. Bloody Hell, what a mess this country is in! Sorry CT, there is no other way to describe the pathetic state we as a nation and a fake democracy are in. There is no structured and disciplined governance; we are in an anarchy, every minister and PM write his set of rules and regulations, and the boss has no control over the indisciplined rabble in the muddy lake. Kindly handover the government to the army chief until he puts some discipline into these monkeys.

This is the mess we created for ourselves.Starting with Sinhala only, we have messed ourselves in style.Which led to a deadly force to be created – the safron brigade. They call the shots and there does not seem to be any body in politics to challenge their non-sense.The thugs who were found at the Homagama courts should have been arrested en-masse and prosecuted.Even the few who were arrested went home free after a few days.

The latest, one safron wearing joker had won a tender for the beef stall. He says that he will close down the beef stall. What a bloody bluffers are these? They feed well on chicken, pork, fish, eggs – they must be made out of Plaster of Paris not flesh and blood.

      Thirsu
No point in agonising. Who to sack whom when all are together in the game?
Anarchy and fake democracy will prevail and continue and the army would assist with help from Yellow robed shaven heads.

Why can’t people realize when a man who got continuously defeated for more than 20 times, and was still arrogantly holding on to power without stepping down to give his party a fresh leadership for the sake of the party and for the sake of people who trusted the party, would do anything to hold on to power that luckily came in his way?

With all his theory, knowledge, experience and foreign links, what has he done to the country in last 4 years?

to give the man his due many of those elections were rigged. RW was going to emerge victorious when MR/Gota/Basil clan struck a lucrative deal with the LTTE terrorists to prevent people in the North from voting. I am not supporting RW but this is a fact.

Some say there is blackmail because of unusual relationships with top VVIPs who do not bat with a straight wicket? No names mentioned but it is an open secret at Royal College circles about certain people and their leanings….was a certain person given this top trust position as a result of certain leanings? That is more important than private conversations of Chandra Gankanda

      Gamini Senarath
Should be investigated separately on the several allegations as well as revelations already surfaced about his illegitimate acts in his capacity as the Secretary of the President and Chairman of the PB
His role as the official director of the people’s leasing company ( a subsidiary of the PB) has been highly critical and FCID has filed papers now lying in the attorney generals department
As the Chairman of the PB he has been involved in many questionable transactions
A commission of inquiry can bring out many secrets now remain covered due to political influence .
He can afford to buy over leading politicos with the illegal earnings he made
A proper intelligence service will disclose all the connections and where the lines lead to
In the end like in The Central bank bond issue.
