Sandya Ekneligoda Wants MS, RW, UN And DPL Community To Save Her

Sandya Ekneligoda has reached out to President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the United Nations and the Diplomatic Community, urging them to safeguard her from being killed.

Addressing a news conference in Colombo, Sandy Ekneligoda, the wife of missing person Prageeth Ekneligoda said, “If the army personnel who are currently in remand custody over Prageeth’s murder are given bail, then there will be a great threat to my life. I request the President to not stop this investigation and to conclude it swiftly so the culprits will be punished.”

She also accused General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena, Galagoda Atte Gnanasara, Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa and a mob with connection to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as being hell bent on disrupting the ongoing investigation against her husband’s disappearance.

“If these army personnel get bail, my life will be in danger, as well as even the lives of those from the Attorney General’s office who appeared on behalf of the case. I am requesting the President, Prime Minister, the UN and the Diplomatic Community to take responsibility and ensure no harm will come to me from the culprits, in the event they are bailed out,” she said.

She also noted that it has been 2265 days since her husband had gone missing and there were various rumours that he was either killed in an acid bath and that his organs were taken out and he was dumped into the sea. “Only the people who committed this crime can tell how it happened, and they are the army personnel in remand custody. There is a chance they may get bail due to lack of evidence, but I am asking the President to not stop the investigation and to expedite the investigation so that they will be punished,” she added.
