Sirisena Ducks Tourism Awards To Avoid Public Humiliation: Bans Govt Institutions From Using Hotels For State Events

After Colombo Telegraph’s exclusive revelation that tourism industry leaders are planning to boycott Sri Lanka Tourism Awards ceremony in protest of President Maithripala Sirisena’s participation, Sirisena chickened out at the last moment to avoid public humiliation.

Sirisena

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Director General Upali Ratnayake, a die-hard Sirisena loyalist, invited the man who singlehandedly destroyed the tourism sector of Sri Lanka by engineering a political crisis to be the chief guest of Sri Lanka Tourism Awards ceremony. The event took place at the Shangri-la Hotel tonight.

Meanwhile, Sirisena, in a cheap attempt of retaliation, today ordered all government offices to refrain from using luxury hotels for any state event. Informed government sources said it was Sirisena’s response to tourism industry leaders who threatened to boycott the tourism awards ceremony if Sirisena attended as the Chief Guest.

The President’s Media Division, this evening, confirmed that Sirisena has issued a circular strictly prohibiting all state institutions from using luxury hotels for state events. The PMD added that the state institutions had been ordered to use auditoriums owned by the government for state functions as a way of “reducing expenses.”

However, sources within the President’s Office confirmed that Sirisena was livid at the tourism industry leaders’ decision to boycott the award ceremony in protest of the SLTDA’s decision to invite Sirisena as the Chief Guest.

Rogue President, how about state institutions misusing their facilities and incurring illegal expenses. Your days are numbered. Soon you’ll be prosecuted for allowing the illegal occupation of state facilities by your purported PM and his fake cabinet abusing the poor taxpayers’ money.

RE: Sirisena Ducks Tourism Awards To Avoid Public Humiliation: Bans Govt Institutions From Using Hotels For State Events

      1. ” Sirisena chickened out at the last moment to avoid public humiliation.”

Good move. Otherwise, would have hooted, it would have recorded, just like what happened to the Fake PM, Rajapaksa at the Parliament

      2. ” Bans Govt Institutions From Using Hotels For State Events”

Excellent We have no Govt What we have is a Fake Govt and a Fake Cabinet, per the Courts.

Only Sirisena is not fake, but you will be fake once you are impeached and removed.

CT: Editors your website is so biased… 35% of Lanka’s population lives on less than 3$ a day – below the poverty line.
Prez. Sirisena has done the right thing. Why should Sri Lankan tax payers’s funds subsidize Shangri La and Hilton and other 5 start hotels?!
The obscene political culture of Greed, super lux SUVs, 5 star hotel food, and Conspicuous consumption by corrupt FAT politicians and their business crony networks, after looting the Central Bank and people of Lanka must end.
Bondscam Ranil who looted the CBSL has said that Ravi K will be Finance Minister again. If people of Lanka want to commit collective suicide and lose their Economic sovereignty they can vote for Bond Ranil who should be held accountable and share the same Prison Cell wit his co-PM and partner in crime, Mahinda Jarapassa, family and cronies.

Are you saying Sirisena does not belong to the ”…obscene political culture of Greed, super lux SUVs, 5 star hotel food, and Conspicuous consumption by corrupt FAT politicians and their business crony networks” class?

He certainly belongs to the uneducated, utterly shameless, stupid, yob class to which you may also belong. Dodos are now extinct & it’s time you lot are also extinct.

The tourism authority has has probably a billion collected as Tourism Development Levy from the industry at 1% of revenue. Basically added to any bill paid by you and me. That money belongs to the industry.

        Quisling Sirisena.,

You should ban the Germans as well. Do not go to Germany, Deutschland..

        Sprechen sie Deutsch?

        From the grape vine news:

Don’t distort facts about Germany – German Ambassador tells Sirisena.

German Ambassador in Sri Lanka has denounced the statement by President Maithripala Sirisena that the German Chancellor carried on state affairs for six months without a government in that country.

The German Ambassador has further stated that the statement made by President Sirisena using the name of his country is a distortion of facts.

Recently, President Sirisena had stated that there have been countries where state affairs had been carried our without a government and at the beginning of this year Germany’s Chancellor Anjela Merkel had confronted a political crisis and she, in a bid to get a majority for her, had spent 6 months without a government.

The German Ambassador totally rejects the statement by the President stating President Sirisena has made such a statement for his advantage. The political situation that surfaced in Germany after an election and the conspiracy carried out by President Sirisena on 26th October and entirely different, they cannot be compared states the German Ambassador adding that bringing in the situation in Germany cannot justify the conspiracy committed by President Sirisena.

Very good. So you are reading some media, including CT, and getting the pulse of the people.

Why not follow the example of King Sri Sanga Bo, resign and plow your Polonnaruwa paddy fields? You can also set your paddy fields on fire, instead of setting the country on fire.

So far Sirisena has not come out and said the most important thing! That he would not contest for a second term – like he promised in 2015; to be a one-term president.

All this mess is just for him to find a way to try to contest for a second term. The wheels fell off his harebrained stunt when Mahinda could not “buy” a majority (which they were sure of ……. as assured by S.B.) Listen to what Welgama has to say about S.B.

This is the simple/basic truth about this whole stunt. Let’s not get distracted/sidetracked by his other nonsense.

These reports of Sirisena being “livid” are long-term dangerous for him. They are incremental. Very effective, Colombo Telegraph. A day earlier we had this:
    .
    .https://www.colombotelegraph.com/index.php/tourism-industry-leaders-decide-to-boycott-tourism-awards-ceremony-tomorrow-in-protest-of-sirisenas-participation-as-chief-guest/
    .
The effect is to show up the pettiness of Sirisena, which we now see really is there. It looks possible that Sirisena may have to in to retirement in Polonnaruwa before the year 2019 dawns, although seeing how long Donald Trump has survived makes one feel that it is likely that Sirisena will serve out his full five year term, albeit as a lame duck.
    .
Sirisena deserves the flack he is getting.

Was it the Flak that hit Sirisena’s balls and dislodged from his body, and not just dissolution, when he unconstitutionally dissolved the parliament? Just curious!

Bullies are normally cowards. They bully as long as there is no push-back. No sooner they see a push-back they run and hide.
      Appaya does not surprise me.

This man wouldn’t learn a thing, he is hell bent on ruining everything, come what may, owing to his greed for power. Why all this feus, Ranil and UNP turn down his request to back him up for the next term, then he turn to MR, all that badly back fired, and now he is behaving lick a headless chicken. The new budget is not passed yet, there wouldn’t be any allocation done to the government department to spend money, and soon all government payments going to grind to a halt. Further, huge debt payments are due in 2019 and 20.Without a proper government, how the people and the country going to face these issues. Soon there going to be an economic collapse. When all these hit the people below their belts, there going to be chaos, riots, mayhems, burning, killings, looting, and what all not, on the streets. Then people would go to the palace to take out Sirisena.?This is not a threat, extremely high possibility. In the past, when these things happened in many countries, the people came on the streets, and the rulers ran away for their lives. The more Sirisena prolong this without any solutions, higher the possibility of this calamity to happen and greater the denger for the people.

Well are there any left on either side of the divide? Majority of MPs, Ravi, Malik, Rishad included are thugs, hooligans, pick-pockets, thieves, cheats, shady businessmen, pimps, prostitutes, … the list could go on. Of the few who merit mentioning are Eran, Harsha, Ranjan, Mangala and a few I may not be familiar with

Watching tv airing the multiple meetings (covert greetings ?) the various parliamentary groups were having with MS and seeing the line of limousines transporting these ML s (MISSING LINKS – (apologies to Darwin and his apes) to the presidential secretariat we the citizens should SEE and not merely look at what we have voted for and elected . Hosting or not hosting govt. functions in star class hotels is not the question nor is it even the tip of the proverbial greed ,corruption ,fraud , fiscal economical ignorance iceberg. Severe strictures need to be written into the constitution at least now vis a vis MP s . Their eligibility to contest being the first commandment. Thereafter their duties and responsibilities as public servants whose salaries perks and other benefits of office are paid for by citizens ‘ taxes . The carte Blanche ,no questions asked ,above the law conduct and misconduct of these elected representatives has to be curtailed , controlled and be subject to scrutiny by the citizens of this country . Did MS officially complain to the bribery commissioner about the Rs 500 million ‘lolly’ he talked about publicly as being on offer for the best leap frogged ?
