Proving Sirisena’s attempts to whitewash himself of his direct culpability in Easter attacks IGP Pujith Jayasundara – who has been sent on compulsory leave – in his Fundamental Rights petition has revealed the Police was instructed on April 08, 2018 to stop investigating into extremist Muslim groups.

Content of Jayasundara’s FR petition filed a few days ago, note the State Intelligence Service (SIS) in a letter, specifically instructed the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) to suspend all investigations into extremist Muslim factions linked with international terrorist organisations.
He particularly mentions in petition that an investigation was open into the activities of the National Thawheed Jamath but the TID was instructed on April 8th, 2018 to suspend inquiries, as ‘such investigations caused prejudice to the secret investigations being carried out by the SIS.”
Pujith Jayasundara further states that the President excluded him from attending National Security Council meetings from early October 2018, until after the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks on April 21.
IGP claims that the President required SIS Director Nilantha Jayawardana to report directly to him.
Jayasundara filed his FR petition last week, challenging Sirisena’s decision to send him on Compulsory Leave following Easter attacks and growing criticism of the government’s lackadaisical approach to matters of national security.
In his petition, Jayasundara names the Attorney General (AG), Acting IGP C.D. Wickramaratne, Members of the Constitutional Council (CC), Director SIS Nilantha Jayawardena, Chief of National Intelligence (CNI) Sisira Mendis and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando as respondents.

What Sri Lanka needs is a leader of the calibre of Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore. He had a clear vision to build Singapore. into a mini-Superpower in South Asia. Singapore was a fishing village before being pushed out of Malaysia. Though 75% of the country was Chinese he made English as the official language. He made Chinese, Malay and Tamil (spoken only about 5% of the population) as official languages as well. At the Sangai airport, there is a banner fluttering in the air welcoming visitors in all 4 languages. Merit was the criteria for appointing bureaucrats to the public service. Corruption was eliminated at all levels. The Cabinet was packed with technocrats who know their onions. Today, the GDP (PPP) of Singapore is USD 100,345 (IMF). Third place out of 185 countries. What is Sri Lanka’s ranking? It is ranked at 92 with GDP(PPP) at USD 13, 397. These figures say at all. Sri Lanka needs a visionary like Lee Kuan Yew!

Do not try to compare Nagananda Kodituwakku with Lee Kwan Yew. The first thing Lee did was to bring harmony between the people ensuring equality and justice. Though Chinese were 75% of the population no laws were enacted nor procedures adopted to favour them. Tamil was made an official language on par with Chinese, Malay and English. Education and employment were on merit. Benefits like housing and monetary grants were given out without ethnic bias. Though he was virtually a dictator, he was repeatedly elected by the people because he was delivering the goods. In contrast, what is the policy of NK to bring ethnic harmony. He may be a person of integrity and farsightedness, but regarding rights of Tamil to live in dignity as equal citizens, he is woefully lacking. What are his thoughts about sharing of power and territory with Tamils in a fair manner, for which Tamils have been agitating for over 60 years, which the international community has accepted as a fair demand. What are his views on returning the lands appropriated from Tamils by the government and Sinhala and Muslim people. Is he going to take action against those who committed war crimes on non combatant Tamils. If he has no clear actions on these matters, in the eyes of Tamils, he will be yet another Sinhala chauvinist hell bent on denying Tamils their legitimate rights. Tamils are now fed up of supporting people who only want their votes and are not sincere.

Your doubts about Mr. Nagananda Kodithuwakku is entirely correct. Nowhere has he ever mentioned anything about sharing power and territory with minorities or releasing Tamil prisoners held without trial for years, but for moaning about politicians making profits selling their tax free motor vehicles.
