SL Thrills US By Agreeing To Co-Sponsor UNHRC Resolution Again

“The United States is pleased that Sri Lanka has agreed once again to co-sponsor the resolution,” the U.S. Department of State said today.

US Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson

Issuing a statement today U.S. State Department said: “On Monday, March 13 at the UN Human Rights Council the United States and other members of the Friends of Sri Lanka Core Group tabled a draft resolution on promoting reconciliation, accountability, and human rights in Sri Lanka that reflects our enduring commitment to lasting peace and justice for all the people of Sri Lanka.

“The United States worked in close consultation with the United Kingdom, Montenegro, and Macedonia, and in partnership with the Government of Sri Lanka, to draft the resolution. We look forward to the adoption of the text, which will support reconciliation and justice in Sri Lanka, help ensure a non-recurrence of conflict, and strengthen democratic governance and freedoms for all Sri Lankans.

“The United States is pleased that Sri Lanka has agreed once again to co-sponsor the resolution, and invites like-minded UN members to demonstrate support for reconciliation and peace in Sri Lanka by adding their names to the list of cosponsors. The United States applauds the administration of President Sirisena for its continuing efforts to promote reconciliation.”

Interesting solution. Keep co-sponsoring UN Revolutions.

Very good. Now need a real and practical time table. for implementation of the resolutions in the Land of Native Veddah Aethho.

Has any one read the document before co-sponsoring? Most importantly has it been translated and explained to the President?
It really sounds like the President dint know what the hell was in the first document that he co-sponsored.

Mangala and Govt. of Sri Lanka should also sponsor a war crimes Resolution and inquiry against the US government at UNHRC, and then try to work with US Govt. on reconciliation with Muslim Majority Countries in the Middle East who are being banned by Trump .

The CT could then publish a press statement:: US Thrills Sri Lanka By Agreeing To Co-Sponsor UNHRC Resolution Against itself! This would be great stuff!

After all there is ample Wikileaks evidence of US Govt.killings of civilians in air strikes in Yemen, Af-Pak, Syria etc. and HR violations in Guantanamo. and US needs to mend bridges with the Muslims in the Middle East!

Never mind all the wire tapping and info. hacking on the internet in the name of national security and counter-terrorism done by various US agencies – we forgive them!

Where is the UNHRC when the indigenous people in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and also in the US struggles for centuries in their homelands as foreign refugees?

The percentage of Aboriginal children who complete high school is extremely low compare with Sri Lankan Tamil children who complete high school in Sri Lanka. However, Tamil leaders never say a word about those vulnerable Aboriginal children. It shows the dirty Tamil leaders’ hypocrisy, manipulation and double standards. Tamils don’t acknowledge my struggles while exposing the truth about the Westerners’ double standards. Sri Lankan Tamils always blindly support the Western powers. Therefore, if we give power to Tamils, they will destroy Asia.

Four out of seven Aboriginal children are damaging their brain by paint and petrol sniffing before they even get into teenage life. The rest of the Aboriginal teenage children get caught in alcohol or drugs. Literally, not even 1% of Aboriginal children complete high school. The Australia’s injustice was systematically engineered by the power elites to make sure that Aboriginal communities won’t progress to have knowledge, in order to control Aboriginal people’s resources freely.

The New Sri Lankan Ponzi Scheme..

A Ponzi scheme (/ˈpɒn.zi/; also a Ponzi game) is a fraudulent investment operation where the operator, an individual or organization, pays returns to its investors from new capital paid to the operators by new investors, rather than from profit earned through legitimate sources. Operators of Ponzi schemes usually entice new investors by offering higher returns than other investments, in the form of short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent.

I only hope that the co-sponsored resolution will not have something “unconstituional” that will later prompt both the President and the PM to say that that part of the resolution cannot be carried out.

      Common Sense

“There is a thing called the credibility of a country as well.”

Do you think , the west, especially, America, and UL have credibility.

What is the difference between credibility and self-interest?

Upon check up on the credibility, you will find that the Emperor has no clothes.

Eventually, the US will leave from the UNHRC, and mind its own business once it understood that the Asians are too good in this game :–))))

Welcome to the Asian Century, we are proud because we have made it happen.

We know that the Americans, Australians, Canadians, and New Zealanders don’t live in their countries, but live on others’ homelands. First and foremost they must do what is right to those indigenous people, before they preach to us on human rights.

I see lots of similarities between the falling US superpower and the collapsed Roman empire. The Roman empire fell because, arrogant leaders ignored smart people.

So this is the outcome from this

    http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-news-india/sri-lanka-maithripala-sirisena-seeks-donald-trumps-help-to-drop-war-crimes-charges-4398564/

Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena has asked Donald Trump to pressure the UN Human Rights Council to drop war crimes allegations against the country’s troops. Sirisena’s office said today he had sent a “special message” to president-elect Trump seeking US intervention at the council, where Sri Lanka faces censure for wartime atrocities.

“I sent a special message to Donald Trump asking him to support us at the (council),” the President said. “I am asking him to help completely clear my country (of war crimes allegations) and allow us to start afresh.” Sirisena said he was making a similar appeal to the incoming UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Ah politics! What a wonderful discipline where black can be made white and vice versa. Nobody beats our fellows at this kind of chicanery. I wonder whether the quid pro quo was our Police trying to arrest the Sri Lankan protectors of Julian Assange.

Why do you have to beg Tom, Dick and Harry? if you really seek a home cooked solution just stop violating the constitution and start from adopting the 13th amendment. In the transitional justice phase, stop acting like idiots with no hope and start to act like statesmen by stating the accountability process through proper inquiry!

Human Rights Council is resolutions are non binding. Which means even if the Sri Lankan government violates the resolutions , there is nothing anybody can do : because it’s non boding. Tamils are so clever. They want Sri Lanka under the scrutiny of UNHRC. They already got 80% of what they asked for. They know if we give more time you will get more than what they asked for. They pretended to oppose the giving additional time. Even TNA wriote to UNHRC that they agree with the government. This is all well orchestred politics. I hope the Sinhalese politicians will understand this one day.

Something positive is here. It is not Lankawe has agreed to co-sign. America still in the loop.

Colombo Media kept threatening Trump administration will not work with UNHRC and it will save Lankawe out of UNHRC. Well; delaying put the Tamils’ well being in serious jeopardy. But America did not go against justice as Colombo Media forecasted.

Ex Secretary Condoleezza Rice’s experience made Hillary Clinton more informed State Secretary on Lankawe’s matters. Hillary Clinton’s experiences made John Herry better informed Secretary of State. Certainly, when have him familiarized with the issues, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will make more experienced decision on America’s foreign Policy on Lankawe. Election came and new State Secretary, who yet to familiarize him in Aappa Diplomacy came in the middle troubles is unfortunate of Tamils. But America has shown it is not changed. It has not changed the resolution-30/1 it brought in September, 2015. Still it recognizes its child, the resolution 30/1 and acceptes parental duties of it.

In that past, when every time America involved in Lankawe’s matters it lost by many steps on ground. Revolution 30/1 many steps bellow OISL recommendations. Even the the second draft submitted before resolution 30/1 was a much better proposal. If America can hold on to the above words, this is the first time, without loosing further ground, America has stood on the same level and negotiated with Lankawe.

    Reconciliation – Yes.
Justice – No, unless uninvolved foreign judges are allowed to inquire both parties in the conflict which is now history.
That this “cannot be allowed by the Constitution” is a lame excuse.
Where there is Political Will for Justice, there is a way.
As the state is confident that the military acted according to the Geneva Conventions, why the reluctance.
Cannot foreign jurists at least act as observers like the Independent International Group of Eminent Persons did earlier.

Don’t be fooled. Sri Lanka has thumped the nose of all the other 37 co-sponsors, especially the US as chair, who brought on this resolution in good faith.

This rogue state is playing cricket to delay and deviate, hoping for rain to abandon the war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide from an international investigation, using the China card. The brown girl is in the ring, she needs to sink or swim with the international community.

US will soon realise that non conformance to their resolution will need consequences, and will refer Sri Lanka to the ICC and to the UN GA, to ensure that America is in charge under Trump.

God bless America, but nothing will save Sri Lanka.

May the souls rest in peace.

      Dear Manika
I have news for you….Trump is reducing the UN / reducing funds; and US is not a signatory to ICC / Trump may care less for an organisation that may one day turn around and point the finger at US and Israel. So darling, do not pin your hopes and wild dreams on Trump!

sri lanka is unique that it will co sponsor resolution after resolution without implementing them.By that time the old tamil diaspora will die off and their children coudn’t care a fart about tamils left behind anyway.
