Sri Lankan Courts Can Conduct Credible Investigations: Namal Rajapaksa

Sri Lankan courts have already demonstrated that they have the resources and the capability to conduct credible investigations within the existing legal framework, says the former President’s son Namal Rajapaksa.

Updating his Facebook status Namal Rajapaksa MP said; “I believe the OHCHR’s call for the creation of hybrid court in Sri Lanka is a complete insult to the entire legal system in this country. Sri Lanka is fully capable of conducting any domestic inquiry that may be needed and should be allowed to proceed without foreign interference. Sri Lankan courts have already demonstrated that they have the resources and the capability to conduct credible investigations within the existing legal framework. The double standards practiced by certain sections of the international community is injustice in itself.”

Oh dear. If Sri Lanka is so capable of prosecutions why is it that 6 years after the war we have yet to see any? Karuna murdered 600 policemen in cold blood and you made him a minister. What a joke.

Best would be that these Rajaarpakshe offsprings be given better and civlized training under the good governance prinicples of the current regime. Then only they can be brought before the civlized folks. Else, they and the rest culprits would have been doing all what they were allowed by god father during the last 5 years. These men need real rehab programs to turn their mind sets from the kindergarten level on.

Yes this could be taken as examples to leading rehab courses need to turn the society to a better one.
With less tasks on them – Rajapakshe offsprings may have time to go through that and show the nation – yes we did it.. and now we are ready for civlized way of life even if our father ran amok… once this is achieved, Namal baby could see it beyond. Until then, he will be lagged and sunk in his own world that their father made for them. Latter is the same with those thugs that Rajapakshe always stipulated to bury real issues from being investigated. What happened to that toy pistol mayor ?
what happened to the ones that physcially harmed then visiting UNP MPs ?
You tube records are there to show that all these did a partial job for Rajano.

      Alex,

Do not take this brat seriously.

However, please note he has become better at playing the same sleazy political game his father, family, party & almost all Sri Lankan politicians play.

Sri Lankans know how corrupt, incompetent & inefficient their criminal justice system is. Still an overwhelming chunk of Sri Lankans detest any international interference in Sri Lanka with regard to this issue. For very good reasons.

This monkey has understood he could ride a part of that popular wave. He is playing to the gallery. Most likely he will succeed. The stupid electorate will take this as real “patriotism”.

Irony is that this so called “patriot’s” family destroyed Sri Lanka’s foreign service too. Packing off uneducated family members and uncivilized cronies to almost all international forums. Where they did business and took family vacations.

The monkey that was sent to Russia is still missing-in-action. “Tea Mudalali” who was in Washington is nowhere to be seen. Baggage boy who used to frequent Geneva is now in Remand custody.

Sri Lanka faces a serious challenge. That will take far-sighted wisdom & strategy to settle.

Given his family’s shameful track record, this is a golden opportunity for Namal Raja to shut up.

      Cheers!

Interesting Ben. However, the question is actually quite simple. Can Sri Lanka prosecute war criminals or not? Can it make members of the armed forces who committed crimes accountable or not? The answer appears to be no. This means that foreigners will end up having to do it for Sri Lanka, like in Rwanda and Serbia.

By jove, you (Namal R) should know. After all you are so well versed in the many aspects of the laws that you passed so brilliantly. Men like HV Perera, GGP, the Wickramanayake Brothers, S. Nadesan, C. Thiagalingam and the lot must be breathing a sigh of relief up (down) there that they did not have to cross “swords” in Courts with your legal brilliance at their time.

BTW, did you get your law degree with a P.C. thrown in or not?
After all, this was a small matter when pappy was around in the
            Big Seat.

Please stop undermining him. His strength is his uncle and his blue brigade.

Who would respect all these ? Entire world is aware that Rajapakshe did not care of courts or any holding on courts. They were informed how the CJ was dismissed in order to get passed 18 AMD -that soley focused on his rule for his rest of life. TOday, Gonputha dares to say- that lanken courts are capable of doing any kind of investigations. It is like talkin to frogs in a well, these men would never stop uttering the kind of stupidities. Son is like the father. Father would go on saying how powerful he has been.. etc … as if srilankens are far developed folks. Being in the chairof CW, father had the guts to ignore any kind of investigations, if did, that would back fire him, he throught to his knowledge… one who only trusted on stupid fortunestellers… ruined the nation actually.. MR was a joke.. he should have not appointed by people s power.. but in democracies such as ours… every thing is possible… democracy should be valid only for civlized cultures. Unfortuantley, ours is million of years away from civlization.

Sri Lanka does not have judges and prosecutors who can take up war crimes cases. All the Judges and Prosecutors are from the Majority community.

That maybe also because the system is structured in a way the main happenings/appointments in the country are designed to suit the fancies of the Buddhist political hierarchy. What is the necessity of Ministers and other VIPs to call on the Mahanayakas after they are appointed and regularly thereafter. It is well known Dudley, JRJ and perhaps others were not favoured by these Mahanayakas because they did not follow this strange practise. As a result, the Buddhist public was made to isolate them – as far as possible. The day Sri Lanka learns to separate Buddhism from political governance may see the return of true democracy in the land. Western Europe succeeded in this somewhere in the 17/18th centuries.

An accused cannot be also a judge for the case against him! That is against all norms of justice.

Just because you are a qualified judge, that does make you eligible to hear case against you. Nobody will believe your verdict, you make on your behalf either way!

Wait, one day you too will be in the same boat either as a victim or as an accused and you will not want your case be heard by local judges who you say are prejudiced against you!

Who sent this “answer”/”opinion” to your “I Phone” or the “Laptop”? Isn’t it better to allow the genuinely qualified in the subject of Law to express their considered opinion on this matter? You have many other things to attend to: such as “Nil Balakaya” work with the participation of that “Ambassador” seconded for your services from the Sri Lankan Airlines and exclusively and handsomely paid for by your own uncle “Chairman”; organize those forgotten “Night Races”; organize yourself to face those inquiries that are due to come up etc, etc..

“The double standards practiced by certain sections of the international community is injustice in itself.”

The photo released from the beaches to impress the OISL was received by the investigating women was received late. It was released only only after UNHRC sat for for 30th sitting. Those old women can not be blamed for the tardiness of the Prince. Price has to confess himself that his family went to the on a most annoying time when the whole country was bothers about the pending report. Wimal was fasting in front of the UN when UNHRC passed the first 2012 esolution. When it was releasing the report Royal family was showing off at the beach.

That act was an utterly ridiculing the interest of the common man living in Lankawe.

It is not UNHRC has practiced double standard. But when you sat in the air conditioned room and copied the answers that we given by the law professors who prepared the test question you reduces the Law of the country to nursery kids’ hide and seek game regulations. Here is piece of past history.

You fat baby elephant Namal, thats why your legal system could not prosecute murderers, robbers and kidnappers like Diminda, Mahinda, Goatabaya and so many more. So the Som of a theif doesn’t want his dad to be found guilty at the International courts. If you got nothing to fear why don’t you let an International investigation proceed you fat Ogre.

    Namal R,
Yes we can have a “Sri Lankan ” Court as you say and I am sure you will nominate the following judges.

    1) Mahinda Rajapaksa.
    2) Gotabaya Rajapaksa
    3)Sajin Bass Gunewardena
    4)Lalith Weeratunga
5)Wimal Weerawansa ,Udaya Gamanpila , Dilan Perera (alternate)

Then we can all expect an ” ABSOLUTELY FAIR” trial Mahinda Rajapksa Era style ha :):)Namal, what a brilliant chap you are .

PS : But please don’t nominate any judges regarding my matter ,OK ? !!

    Namal,

I completely agree with you that with your father’s governance style Sri Lanka is capable of conducting not just credible investigations but “incredible” investigations. Your father ran a kangaroo court and manipulated and interfered with the judiciary and you expect the people to believe what you say.

    Hang you head in shame!!!!!!

Wait and see how he will in partnership with SIR Desmond de Silva, going to defend Karuna, Pillayan, and the suspected murderers of Thajudeen in the courts soon.
By the way does anyone knows how many court cases Namal has won ever since he became a SriLankan lawyer ?

Perhaps, what he means is the credible judgments delivered by the Silva Court.[Sarath.N.Silva Ex.CJ] specially the Helping Hambantota case.

Then there was the Landmark Judgment of another unauthorised CJ-Mohan Pieris who opined that MaRa can contest for the Presidency even beyond the Third Term!

We saw how our Srilankan courts conducted themselves in the past and demonstrated to the whole world their capability.
Besides, this opinion of our Srilankan Courts comes from a person who was not called to the Bar but foisted to the Bar.

    Dear Honorable Minister Namal

Our courts and justice system are competent, and work very well, that is why are you being repeatedly asked to appear before the FCID. You must have a lot of confidence in the system of which you are a part.

However if our Sri Lankan judicial system is so flawed, then all these investigations against yourself may be politically motivated, has that ever occurred to you ? Will you be treated in a just manner?

    Hi Namal

Sure I have agree with you!

Your Daddy was able to conduct your Law Exam sucessfully!

After all you passed with 100% marks and came first.

The present Law fratanity is full of great Lawyers, Judges, law
professors created by your dad’s with the help of low professor and low cheap justices etc who are presently without a job. Why not Give them some unemployment relief. Some time they may help your darling daddy to regain the lost throne too! Never underesatimate their capacity.

You have definitely developed Buffalo skin after consuming the Buffalo milk from the stolen State Buffaloes, tied in CHARA’s Pattia.

Whoever his father has been – the guys who allowed him to conducted a wrong exam -not being compliant to the examiniation rules prevailing in the country should be charged. Those who allowed any powerful politicians to have their sons or daughters to get good marks or pass the examniations are not ONLY the greater failure of his father but also those examiners. All in all, such corrupted leaders though tried their best to abuse in every means, if society – those professionals were not corrupted or tending to corrutions abuses nothi would have happened. SO was the case with Duminda silva… remember the man who as a medical professional enjoying the approbation, made it very clear being on the TV screens that Duminda s head injuries were fatal – and saving his life would have been a wonder etc… but in real case, Du minda silva was healthy and kept secrecy on a singaporian hospital for such along period – all to avoid him being getting convicted. All in all – former PM had also been in the same hospital and Duminda had come to visit him there.. that was the only message was set to air to that time, in Namal`s fathers era where he and Namal woudl go on saying that press freedom was there to the top… all thes emen should be shameful for all these.. since untruths would never stay such that long. Luege haben kurze Beine… lies will never been buried that long.. much more to surface in the days to come.

Namal, I am a proud Sri Lankan who traveled extensively across the globe. The Sri Lankan forces and our cricket team gave us a lot of pride to carry with us wherever we went. But your father gave us shame the way he governed the country. We are the laughing stock of the international community. Your father appoints Wimal to the parliamentary committee to impeach the CJ of the country. Apart from Wimal’s being a 3rd rated nationalist he is not even O/L qualified to sit in a bus but sits on a committee to carry out the filthy work of your father. Then what about Duminda Silva ? How can [Edited out] involvement in the Thajudeen murder be swept under the carpet. Is this the fair justice system you speak of.

Is this the kind of justice that you say “Sri Lankan courts have already demonstrated that they have the resources and the capability to conduct credible investigations within the existing legal framework”. You speak as you have never passed a law examination. Btw have you ?

Something basically should have gone wrong with him totally. ROME, Italy
