SS & Brown Shirts, Theatrics Of ICE Agents & The Trump Rule

By Vishwamithra

“The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.”  ~ Dante Alighieri

Donald Trump may be dreaming of being in power forever; his fantasies know no mundane limits. His ambition has surpassed the decent threshold of a village lad, whose only ordinary desire was to become a professional after finishing school. Trump has crushed all civilized manners of governance. Having surrounded himself with henchmen of the same ilk, he has receded into a cocoon of somewhat a comfort zone; definitions and interpretations of ordinary concepts and everyday measures of life and livelihoods are warped at best and extraordinarily cruel at worst.

Screenshot

One prominent pundit described the current chaotic conditions of the operations conducted by the ICE Agents thus: ‘Unbeknownst to the general masses, Trump has unleashed his own ‘brown shirts’ or the goons of his version of the SS; ICE agents have just begun to spread their power beyond accepted and traditional boundaries. The playing fields can no way be called fair and balanced; on the contrary they are far too biased towards those who govern and rule.’ ICE Agents to Hitler’s Brown Shirts might be too nasty and undeserving, yet such is the temperature of some feelings.

Whether one draws parallels between the populist fervor of modern ‘Brownshirt’ tactics and the systemic operational methodologies of the historical SS and SD, the eventualities of the current economic enactments could be far more desirable; these include a renaissance in American manufacturing, the achievement of global energy dominance, and a robust tightening of the labor market that, in the past, has delivered unprecedented leverage to the American worker.

However, Donald Trump is far too detached from such sophisticated policy goals. His sole engagement seems to be that of an Emperor of sorts, presiding over his subjects, telling them what and what not to do. Such a leader’s mindset cannot be underestimated nor underrated. Having become the laughingstock of the world today, the average American wonders, more often than not, whether he or she would be truly well represented by Donald Trump on the global platform without being condemned and belittled at the end.

Top Trump immigration officials faced sharp questioning from Democratic House members on Tuesday, Feb 10, at a three-hour Department of Homeland Security oversight hearing, following last month’s fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretty by immigration enforcement agents in Minneapolis. Watching their testimony may generate more ire and disgust regarding how these top officials—charged with overseeing the operational side of ‘catching and deporting criminal immigrants’—are handling the matter. Analyzing this situation as a purely judicious exercise of government policy is, in itself, a jarring and painful endeavor.”

Politics of immigration enforcement could be utterly unpalatable. Every US government has succeeded in keeping the issue pestering without offering even a trace of a resolution. Its shelf-life as a magnetic political issue renders more meat for the platform than getting caught up in between choices whichever is owned could be far more unfavorable to the voting public. A nation so fatigued by this nagging issue of ‘Undocumented Alien’ now has to grapple not only with the non-resolution of its substance and processes, it has to deal with a demagogue who was driven to power on the backs of those who demanded and wished that the America of the pre-civil rights era could be reborn.

A macro political condition somewhat resembling that of the social context that prevailed on the eve of the 2024 Sri Lankan elections– status quo vs system change– is now existing in the USA. And that sociopolitical condition has got a very determined driver behind the wheel, Donald Trump. As was described in one of my recent columns, the White Supremacists in America who chose to submerge the black slaves in their first one and half centuries of ‘Independence’ and drive them to inhuman living conditions are yet to come to terms with the Civil Rights movement and its aftermath.

Despite the election of a Black President, a particular segment, albeit a minority, which could never reconcile itself to the reality of the concept of ‘each one is equal to the other’ and its sophisticated cascade of human values and their inner workings seem to be far too unwilling or unready to embrace the new realities of an egalitarian society. Donald Trump willingly chose to exploit these underpinnings of a social misunderstanding. We are going through that period in which the shelf-life of an election slogan has surpassed all boundaries of endurance.

Yet we find America in a very inexplicable quandary. Her stock market is behaving extremely well while all the micro economic measures are pointing towards a stagnant middleclass and a deteriorating poor class. Trump’s tariffs have caused tremendous uncertainly amongst the main players in the market and unemployment numbers are increasing by the week. Anecdotal evidence reveals that most of the fine-dining restaurants are experiencing a downward trend and many a supermarket shows their slowdown in business by the very low numbers employed at the checkout counters and less-than-satisfactory numbers at the self-checkout lines.

Optics that dominate the world stage will ultimately come home to consume Trump and his cohorts. Appearance on an international platform and displaying obscene diplomatic gymnastics might have an appeal to the twenty to thirty percent of MAGA followers, yet not to others. More often than not, the average citizen of the world—prioritizing everything from basic survival to nuanced social concerns—is a balanced and calm individual. Their foundational decisions regarding life are solid, remaining largely unaffected by the erratic, unforeseen vagaries of social dynamics.

American constitution is a remarkable creation. Its very substance and its delivery, sentence by sentence, has been consummated with utter clarity and with very little uncertainty. The concept of ‘We the People’ and its frequent appearance have captivated many experts, inspiring thoughtful critiques of the document. The unique loyalty it fosters among both the elected and the electorate is unparalleled in modern constitutions.

Trump is actively seeking to undermine that loyalty. Whether he succeeds or fails ultimately depends on the resolve of ‘We the People’. The strength of the MAGA is not abstract. It is real and could be utterly irksome, to say the least. But one has to live with it till it lasts. Its lifespan would be decided, not by Trump nor by its opponents. ‘We the People’ could come to the rescue of America and they should. What is at stake is not some inscrutable values or some Utopian mirage. The ordinary lifestyles of ordinary men and women will rely on the very sustenance of a mighty economic, military and political system that was built on a solid foundation of the American Constitution. Its intrinsic strength does not lie in the eloquence of language nor in the dead men who gave birth to it; Its strength dwells in the very people who it said would defend it and protect it.

These things also happen in Singapore and Malaysia, where they also cane, fine, and imprison illegals before deporting them. People there hardly ever protest, even though Amnesty International investigates it once in a while before doing nothing. Difference
between US and these places is it was long term policy. Every president or pm in place followed it. In US, it is a different set of economic
policies for each president, and so installing a jack-booted anti- immigrant policy in one presedency is just mere vengence against the previous president’s policies and causes much confusion in the.economic-system, and hence the resulting in Nazi-type policies

“The “China Shock” Era (2001–2010s): Following its WTO accession in 2001, China rapidly became the “world’s factory,” utilizing low-cost labor and immense economies of scale to produce cheap goods, which significantly lowered consumer prices in developed nations. This period is recognized as a major factor behind low and stable global inflation for nearly two decades.”

“Continued Pressure (2010–2020): Even as manufacturing costs rose, China maintained its role as a disinflationary force by increasing domestic efficiency, upgrading technology, and becoming its own best customer, rather than merely relying on exports.”

“Post-COVID “Exported Deflation” (2022–Present): Following the pandemic, China’s economy experienced a property slump and weak domestic demand, leading to significant industrial overcapacity. Instead of passing on costs, Chinese producers have been cutting prices to move inventory, resulting in prolonged producer price deflation (39 straight months of falling PPI by end-2025).”

        “Current Status and Outlook

As of early 2026, Chinese manufacturing continues to exert downward pressure on prices in the West, particularly in sectors like electric vehicles (EVs), solar panels, and consumer goods.

Persistent Deflation: China’s PPI has remained below zero for over three years, with consumer price inflation averaging only 0.2% since 2023.

Shift in Nature: While China previously kept prices low through sheer volume of low-cost goods, it currently acts as a deflationary agent through overcapacity and weak domestic demand, exporting that weakness to the West in the form of lower prices.

Despite efforts by Western nations to increase supply chain resilience through tariffs, Chinese manufactured goods continue to act as a “global inflation stabilizer” by offering lower-priced alternatives to locally produced items. “

In US, the US global dollar is dependant upon the interaction between countries they deport, and also other countries around the globe. So, Trump’s show of force towards the illegals will translate to poor economic gains in the long run, especially with China on the prowl. There’s only so much military force US can use, save for a nuclear war. Also, brown shirts and jackboots are reminiscent of Nazi times, and once the Whites are roused, God knows to what extent they will go to, like in Nazi Germany. In Spore and Msia, it is against people of almost the same race and color ; in USA, it is Whites against people of color. Other countries around the world can use forced deportation as a tool, but when a big country in charge of global affairs does it, trust is lost, and power- loss will soon follow along.

Stock market will shoot up unnaturally at first because global elites will invest for a time on new futuristic goals. But if it doesn’t have the latching onto the worker-class and their trust (and most of MAGA belongs to this class, and also Maga-equivalents of other nations), it will eventually plummet. In short, Nazi-type anti-immigration policies together with a huge upheaval of global labour force in favor of automation, will surely spell disaster.

Watched the documentary/movie Malania. Very interesting and rousing to see with rich scenes and fine music. Very grand couple indeed. But it doesn’t match up with what ICE is doing, and the intended automation of the American workforce.

        Hello Ramona,
        “Very grand couple indeed”.
Your talking about an East European Model that got into the US with an Einstein Visa. She was introduced to Trump by Epstein according to everyone in the know except Trump himself. Read the reports about Donald and Melania’s “first time” on Epstein’s Lolita Express Plane (Trump flew at least 8 times) . Try reading Michael Wolff’s book where he has Audio recordings of Epstein explaining how Trump entrapped Women into cuckolding their husbands. I don’t recommend that you (Ramona) listen to this podcast, however anyone else that still thinks Trump is “Great” here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VDK5ttnzz4

From what I understand, Malania documentary is an utter flop, despite Bezos shelling out $45m to promote it, the highest ever for a documentary.. At least in UK, it is confirmed a flop with not even a handful of seats sold on the opening night.. Apparently, tickets are being bought in bulk & given free & US military personnel are urged to see it, asa ‘bonding exercise’ to boost the numbers .
This is a blatant bribe from Bezos & Malania pocketed $28m even though the earnings was about $7m. Seems like a missed opportunity for the Rajapakses. If MR was in power, a documentary about the first lady could have been bought & promoted by any of the SL oligarchs in return for favors from MR.

          Raj,
“If MR was in power, a documentary about the first lady could have been bought & promoted by any of the SL oligarchs in return for favors from MR.”

The NPP government’s selective political revenge is evident in the waste of 160 million LKR during the former president’s transit in London while returning from a visit to the US. The AKD-led group failed to probe “MaRa’s trip to an Italian city” when the GOTABAYA government assumed office in 2020. During that visit, I learned from my Italian colleagues that the PRESIDENTIAL suit MARA and his wife had stayed for a few nights, which cost about 20,000 euros or more, according to my calculations.

There were occasions when MR & his entourage occupied a floor of suites at the London Savoy while the Tamil diaspora protested outside. Then there was a case where the first lady & her entourage visited Paris (during vesak?). Only poor RW was taken to courts for attending his wife’s convocation in UK with public funds. Seems the Rajapakse clan is beyond the reach of NPP justice system

” Trump has crushed all civilized manners of governance. “
Of course, Trump will be in power for more. three yeaars, but it is not the Trump alone those crushed all civilized manners of Governance. Even Tony Blair and Bush did the same in the world. But, in Sri Lanka, almost all the leaders who governed this island crushed all ciliised manners of governance. this is much worse than Trump.

Trump appointed his cronies to high posts, including the judiciary, & pressured them to ‘have his way’, promised to make America great, lied about the economy. his family benefitted enormously from his presidency. Sounds familiar?

Not so long ago, we had a President who promised to make SL the envy of other countries but bankrupted the country in the process, promoted cronyism & nepotism, the Rajapakse family controlling more than half the country’s wealth, thereby, profiting exponentially. Trump had ICE goons to intimidate minorities while we had ‘white vans’ for those who dared to oppose the regime.

Some African & third world countries may come a close second but we led the way before America.

      Hello Raj,
      .
Promises, Power, and the Price of Political Illusion:

Leadership built on rhetoric must ultimately stand the test of reality. When a politician rises to power on bold promises, dramatic accusations, and emotionally charged speeches, the public expects action—not silence.

Anura Dissanayake’s political ascent was fueled by uncompromising declarations. He spoke with certainty about corruption, about the bond scandal, about hidden billions abroad, about immediate arrests and swift justice. He projected urgency. He projected moral superiority. He projected inevitability.

But governance is not a stage for slogans.

I-f leaders declare that individuals responsible for major financial crimes will be brought back within 24 hours, the public has every right to ask—where is the action? If they repeatedly assert knowledge of hidden billions overseas, citizens deserve transparency, evidence, and follow-through. If they promise economic revival, trade stability, and protection for workers, then textile workers losing jobs and exporters struggling under tariffs are not abstract statistics—they are real lives demanding real solutions.

It is easy to criticize from opposition benches. It is harder to govern.

Campaign speeches often thrive on outrage and simplicity. Governance demands diplomacy, negotiation, expertise, and strategic compromise. When expectations are raised sky-high through high-pitched rhetoric, the gap between promise and performance becomes even more visible.

Sri Lanka’s challenges are complex: debt restructuring, foreign relations, trade agreements, unemployment, investor confidence, and global economic pressures. No leader can solve these overnight. But what distinguishes responsible leadership is honesty—honesty about what is possible, what is difficult, and what requires time.

If promises were made without proper study, without legal feasibility, without diplomatic groundwork, then voters were not empowered—they were emotionally mobilized.

Democracy does not end at the ballot box. It begins there. Citizens have not only the right but the duty to question:

What concrete steps have been taken on major corruption allegations?

What evidence supports earlier claims about hidden funds (Uganda and other off shore banks)?

What diplomatic initiatives are underway to protect exports on apparel industry and jobs?

What measurable progress can be shown after 15 months in power? ALMOST NOTHING OTHER THAN BORU SHOW – … shame on srilankan !

Accountability is not betrayal. Scrutiny is not hostility. It is the foundation of democratic maturity.

The real issue is not whether a leader once spoke boldly. The issue is whether bold words have transformed into credible policy, transparent action, and measurable results.- IS THIS THE CASE UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THAMBUTHTHEGAMA POLBURUWA ?

Sri Lanka does not need theatrical politics. It needs disciplined governance, economic realism, and international credibility.Grand gestures and carefully staged moments may win headlines, but they do not rebuild a nation. Kissing babies or clasping the hands of struggling tea-pluckers cannot substitute for bold policy, transparent leadership, and concrete action. When flood-ravaged communities are still waiting for meaningful reconstruction, when economic hardship weighs on every household, symbolism feels hollow. Leadership is not theatre; it is responsibility. The people are not asking for photo opportunities — they are asking for plans, accountability, and results. Until those materialize, such displays will be seen not as compassion, but as politics performed for power.

If rhetoric built the victory, performance must now justify it.

History does not remember campaign speeches. It remembers outcomes.

Good luck to our island nation !

I heard that 8 suspects charged with the murder of a Pohottuwa MP & his police bodyguard who shot an ‘aragalaya’ protestor in Nittambuwa were sentenced to death based on facial recognition & not on eye witness or other evidence. Did the very people who promoted the NPP, directly or indirectly, get fair justice?
I also heard that a lawyer who was representing a criminal was murdered in broad daylight, along with his wife. Seems the righteous society promoted by the current govt. has no effect on the underworld. Has anything changed for the better that is worth mentioning? Mega fraud &, high profile murders are hushed or go uninvestigated. Good luck to our island nation, indeed

          Hello Raj_UK,
Many citizens placed their trust in National People’s Power in Sri Lanka believing it would deliver the “system change” it so forcefully promised — reforming institutions, strengthening national security, restoring economic stability, and uplifting ordinary people, especially the youth who rallied behind it.

Yet fifteen months on, growing public anxiety cannot simply be dismissed as political noise. There are serious concerns about law and order, including reports of rising violent crime and allegations of extrajudicial actions that demand transparent investigation.

Statements from officials projecting toughness on national security ring hollow to many when ordinary citizens still feel unsafe. Symbolic gestures and carefully staged public appearances — however emotionally resonant — cannot substitute for measurable improvements in governance, justice, and institutional reform. If the promise was transformation, the public has the right to ask: where are the structural results?

        • 2

          cont.
At the same time, expectations were set high on economic management and reform. Supporters were told that competence and integrity alone would unlock new momentum in foreign reserves, public finance, transport, education, and health.

Comparisons are now being drawn with the tenure of former president Ranil Wickremesinghe, under whom foreign reserves reportedly rose significantly before the transition of power. Whether one supported him or not, the contrast has fueled debate about delivery versus rhetoric.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake came to office pledging not incremental change, but a decisive break from the past. If that mandate is to retain legitimacy, it must be backed by demonstrable progress, transparent data, and accountability — because public trust, once eroded by unmet promises, cannot be rebuilt through speeches or symbolism alone, but only through consistent, visible results.

According to my detailed examination, nothing has been accomplished by the NPP leader and his government other than AKD continuing “popularity games” to further deceive the innocent and weak in this “Rajapakshe-ruined” country. Some of these games are even more ingenious than Mahinda Rajapakshe’s; please see the artistic performance of AKD’s journey to Nuwaraeliya for a prepared drama with the performers playing “innocent tea plucking women.”

The events that unfolded in Sri Lanka in mid-2022 continue to generate significant public debate and concern. During that period of unrest, widespread violence resulted in the destruction of both public and private property. Most tragically, a Member of Parliament from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) lost his life.

Recent legal proceedings have led to the conviction of twelve young individuals in connection with the murder. According to public reports, these individuals had no prior criminal records. Their families maintain that they were not career criminals and are now appealing for a presidential pardon.

There are also serious allegations that certain political elements may have incited or manipulated vulnerable youth for strategic or retaliatory purposes, particularly in targeting rival politicians and their properties. These claims have intensified public scrutiny of the current leadership and have contributed to a growing atmosphere of suspicion and criticism.

The recent indictment has further deepened divisions within the country. Many citizens are grappling with complex questions surrounding justice, political accountability, and the ethical responsibilities of leadership during times of national crisis.

There is no quandary. First of all, if you keep your money strictly in the bank, the PP will erode over time due to CB money-printing.

Low interest rate —> risky asset. This is the basic formula.

What is the riskiest asset? Cryptocurrency. The second one is stocks.

Volcker days in the US are impossible due to the national debt. Highly unlikely the Fed can even go above 5%.

The only stock market worth investing in (for now) is the US stock market. Perfect storm: falling yields, indefinite low rates, and share buybacks facilitated by corporate tax cuts.

Gold – hedge – is also worth buying as 2025 showed.

The fundamental value of Bitcoin is zero.

    https://www.cnbc.com/video/2026/02/10/fts-jemima-kelly-bitcoins-value-is-zero-and-the-scarcity-argument-is-pretend.html

Behind every rational and irrational force in human society there is a social mechanism which determines where it is to appear and what forms it is to take.

The problem with bitcoin, it has zero utility value (excluding money laundering). The underlying mechanism is merely sentiment. The media propped up Bitcoin for a long time. I still recall Bankman-Fried sitting on a beanie bag, hyping FTX.

Allegations that incumbent trade minister (Wasantha Samarasinghe) has secretly accumulated wealth through Bitcoin—especially in a country where cryptocurrency is not officially recognized as legal tender—are serious and should be handled carefully.
      https://www.youtube.com/shorts/64Hh_zva55s

The elephant is in the room, and no one is talking about him. Why ?

However, claims alone are not enough to trigger legal action. How can this be possible under AKD leadership ?

For an investigation to begin, there must typically be credible evidence, such as financial records, asset declarations, blockchain transaction tracing, or a formal complaint submitted to the relevant anti-corruption authorities.
Without documented proof or an official complaint, law enforcement agencies may not have sufficient grounds to proceed.

While political leaders state that the law applies equally to all, the actual enforcement of that principle depends on whether independent institutions receive verifiable evidence and follow due legal process. In any democratic system, accountability relies on formal procedures, evidence, and institutional action rather than public suspicion or political accusations alone.

Fact – the USA has legal immigration. People go through the process and enter the USA legally. Nobody has an issue with this.
    *
The issue is with illegal (not undocumented) immigrants. These people were let in with no real checks- they could be anybody. Entering the USA illegally is a crime.
    *
ICE is trying to remove illegals (enforcing the law). This has broad support.
    *
What would happen if I tried to enter Sri Lanka illegally?

IQ levels, Bitcoin, Seegiriya build, the powerful Sri Lankan Army, hatreds towards the West (WIMAWEERAWANSISM), how powerful the Rajakash are, etc., are all no different from Nimal Fernando’s recent remarks about his white/pale skin needing a tan. As LS realized, it is evident that some of us are forced to engage in “whataboutism” and are not able to identify themselves before pointing fingers at others. They are also attempting to attract a lot of attention.
Lester and Hairy Deepthi are quite skilled in modifying their own remarks frequently, which makes us understand the seriousness of their attention-deficit disorder.

ICE is trying to remove “Illegals” by illegal methods where the alleged “illegal immigrant” is not given opportunity to show that he IS A LEGAL.
THE ICE is just the borwn shirts of Vance and Trump. They will be used to crack up the mid-term elections where ever the GOP has a poor chance.

It is to the credit of Donald Trump, who staged a campaign based entirely on ‘MAGA’ – Make America Great Again.

But alarmingly, this campaign slogan brought in the wrong leadership, which has proved ‘Disastrous’ not only to the USA but to the whole world. Trump has completely misunderstood the campaign slogan -MAGA, but instead has made himself the ‘KING’ who would ‘RULE’ the whole world. In pursuit of this ‘Egocentricity,’ he ‘WEOPANIZED.’ commerce and trade (Imposition of Tariffs) and not without stopping that decided of his own to ‘Inavade’ and threaten ‘Annexations’ of other weaker countries. He showed his might by invading Venezuela and expressed the move to take over Greenland and make Canada the 51st State.

But, Donald Trump has begun to learn the ‘Bitterest’ lesson (Issolation) of his life. Watch what is happening around the world.

This is what happened yesterday. He is surrounded from within – the Legislature. Senate, Judiciary, Top-ranking bureaucrats (resignation of Chief of Staff of White House, along with six others) ‘ Coming Colors’ are not good for Trump.

      D
      MAGA was stillborn.
The US steadily lost its dominance since the turn of the century. Now it is desperate.
MAGA is as meaningful as it would have been to make Britain great again after WWII.

MAGA is similar to BREXIT where UK rejected its allies and erected itself ina jingoistic Blast, and after gloing through it and burtnt itself, it is slowly crawling back into the EU.
How Trump’s MAGA will unravel will be more brutal as its craze and lunacy have not yet peaked.
Think of how the LTTE unraveled itself after is was drunk with Lunacy after the debacle of the IPKF and went on to destroy Rajiv Gandhi and Premadasa. Both of them genuinely tried to give considerable decentarlization of power and help achieve the aspirations of the Tamils of that generation.
