Sujeewa Senasinghe Wants To Donate ‘Ill-Gotten Gains’ To Charity

State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe who stands accused of receiving Rs 3 million from W M Mendis & Company, an affiliate of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd (PTL) has acknowledged that he did in fact receive this amount when he pledged to donate an equal amount to a charity.

Senasinghe

Senasinghe however imposed the caveat, ‘if the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya or a Chief Prelate asked him to do so.’

In a bid to control the damage to his reputation caused by his campaign team accepting money from PTL, which is at the heart of the Central Bank bond issue scam, Senasinghe addressed the media, claiming he had no knowledge of such a donation.

PLT is said to have made billions in the said bond scam.

Senasinghe said in his defense that at the time the money was received ‘there was no information that Mendis & Company was attached to PTL’

The immature young looking fellow is pleading guilty without doing so. As an Attorney he should know better. He was enriched unjustly (perhaps for his election as he squirms but the timing must be checked) and favoring the parties involved. If my memory serves right he was the replacement of a COPE member who resigned, handpicked by the boss (So the boss also is under the cloud). Thus legal eagles might say that it is a clear case of bribery and corruption. Will any donation even if prompted by the Speaker or a Mahanayake absolve him of the charges? An O-Level student will tell you that the answer is NO. It would have been honorable had he told “I was not aware of the funding but as a part of accepting the responsibility I am resigning my seat”. Remember in Singapore (Mahendran’s adopted land) the Speaker had to resign his post, the seat and even the party for having an extra-marital.

Of course the money should be returned. It is also an admission of guilt and the man must be punished according to the law. Why have you not resigned yet?

This shameless, big-mouthed fellow is disgrace to Trinity College, which produced exceptional people like Senaka Bibile.
Sujeewa, please do us a favour, commit suicide.

Does this mean that all those who rob could donate and escape the law of the Land?

Mps, ministers, Prime M, and other bigwigs of the UNP can steal money; if revealed, pay back. If not, keep the loot.
    What a Yahapalana theory!
Idiotic UNPers in villages are being ridiculed by all others; Pohottuwa is blooming even in the dry-zone.

Senasinghe said he is ready to resign only if Speaker asks him. Will the speaker do that?

If he has to do that first Speaker has to resign and get out of the parliament and when he is at the door way to step out, he can turn back, call and tell to Senasinghe, “Man you too come out with me , we both have to go out together in this deal”.

Why the foolish Modaya voters are betting on white crows? They all are crows and they all are black.

You are wrong. Sujeewa is an old Royalist.

Unlike you and I (we podi ens) Sujeewa comes from the upper class crust of Colombo 7. On days he had been transported to school in a four horse drawan carriage. Such was the afflunce of his father who was a business baron who wined and dine with Sir John, JRJ like.

Jayantha, they are hifi people of the most utmost. See how buggar speaks English- like water.

I am glad Sujeewa has paid back money (33 lakhs) to Aloysius’ credit card (last week).

    What an honourable fellow!

Let’s free the buggar now, as he is an asset to this tiny nation of ours.

Sujeewa Senasinghe is the most eligible bachelor in the Colombo elite today. By attacking Sujeewa we are dissapointing so many young beautiful Sinahala women who want to be his bride. So let’s close the book at least for the sake of those beauties. Thank you.

If Sujeewa runs for Presidency he should pick Geetha Kumarasinghe as his running mate (Prime Minister). A sure win
