Continued from March 11th Column: ‘Sri Lanka’s best and worst came together, set apart by just two years‘
“If they answer not thy call, walk alone, walk alone…” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Resilience of a people can never be foreclosed. However long a time they had been in a state of apathy and oblivion, there comes a moment, as Jawaharlal Nehru said, ‘rarely in history’, when they give expression to their collective grief and agony in order to rise against the wrongs done unto them by their own elected leaders. Aragalaya-22 was an unparalleled tribute to a people who chose to express to the world that ‘enough is enough’. They had no leader; at the time, all political leaders, except perhaps the National People’s Power (NPP), did not understand the underlying psyche of the country.
However, the lengthening of lines for petrol, diesel, kerosene and cooking gas shortened the patience of a people whose aspirations and hopes were dashed to the ground. The numbers of men, women and children who gathered on the Galle Face Green continued to grow; hundreds became thousands and thousands soared to tens of thousands. The protests expanded and stretched their orbit from Colombo to Galle, Kurunegala and Kandy. It grew until the sitting President, the so-called ‘Veeraya’ of the war against the Tigers, namely Gotabaya Rajapaksa, hurriedly ran away from the ‘throne’. Leaving behind in his Presidential House some millions of rupees, more than fifteen (15), Gota fled the country. It was not a well planned coup d’etat; nor was it a violent, armed revolution, even though it could be called a modern-day revolution armed with anger and determination and style. On a future date, historians will describe and define the Aragalaya-22 in their own terms.
How could a leaderless uprising of a people be so successful in achieving its desired goals? When Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya(SJB), accompanied by Eran Wickremaratne, another member of the top leadership of the Party, attempted to cross the threshold of the Aragalaya ground, they were asked to leave the premises in the most humiliating and unmistakable fashion. They were stoned and chased away and the entire country witnessed one of the most shameful political spectacles: never was there another parallel incident in our short history of seventy seven years since Independence.
However, there were two leaders who were tolerated by the protesters: Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka and Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the NPP. Not that Fonseka and Dissanayake (AKD) were greeted as heroes, they were merely allowed to enter the hallowed arena of the Aragalaya. The leadership of the movement, if there were any, remained behind the rigorous visage of those who openly carried out many a mundane and extraordinary task related to the Aragalaya. Colombo seven ladies joined the Aragalaya as a matter of style, as they too were at the suffering end of the lack of petrol and cooking gas. The country’s plight had spread from the fashionable drawing rooms in Cinnamon Gardens to the most remote hamlet in the rural hinterland.
The International Monetary Fund identified the blatant corrupt practices of the ruling class and idiotic decisions made in relation to the country’s fiscal and monitory policies by the Central Bank Governor and his co-staff for the pathetic situation in the country as the main cause for the collapse of the country’s economy.
As always in history, such extraordinary crises produce even more extraordinary challenges. Clever politicians who are alert to such unique sociopolitical dynamics respond to these crises intelligently, strategically and with unqualified determination. The National People’s Power (NPP) proved to be the only political party that was sensitive to the sociopolitical challenges that were generated by the country’s economic collapse. The Aragalaya-22′s defined the crisis as one engendered by the successive governments of the previous seventy six years; it also helped the NPP to characterize all those who governed the country in that period as protectors of the status quo; and the NPP as the only alternative, representing the suffering masses.
In such a sociopolitical quandary, where the people are offered a binary choice, they, more often than not, opt for the non-status quo alternative. AKD and the NPP identified this version of history. In order to map out their own path, the NPP began a very vigorous campaign of mass rallies and the people gathered for these mass meetings not because they wanted to gather behind the old JVP, but because they seemingly had no alternative. Rejection of the status quo was an unequivocal course of thought and action. And the NPP had one unchangeable weapon in their midst: Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD) and his echoing voice.
Both Ranil Wickremesinghe, the un-elected President and Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the SJB, faded into nothingness in the presence of AKD. In addition to AKD, the NPP also had a whole gallery of second level speakers who could hold an audience and convince them as to their point of view. The people who were starved of sincere-looking (not necessarily genuinely sincere) political leadership, the very oratorical profile of the NPP and that of its leader presented an irresistibly palatable alternative. The status quo stood on very unsteady and trembling ground. All that was done and left undone by the previous governments from the Senanayakes, Jayewardenes and Bandaranaikes to the Rajapaksas looked dangerously close to the threshold of extinction.
The abyss that their collective efforts from 1948 to 2022 resulted in was not only glaring in the face of Mother Lanka, she was dangerously flirting with national apathy and indifference all the way onto catastrophic collapse. AKD and the NPP offered a seemingly probable alternative. And in the Presidential Elections followed by Parliamentary Elections held in 2024, the people expressed their endorsement.
Anura Kumara Dissanayake and his Party, NPP are in power now. They promised an incorrupt and incorruptible system of governance; they promised that they would bring all those who committed many atrocities, both financial and criminal, before the Law. One by one, they are being brought before the long arms of the country’s legal system. We’re seeing the tip of this massive iceberg of corruption and other crimes so committed by these so-called heroes of the people.
Up to date, the obvious ones are in prison; but many more are to be produced. Who amongst them would be behind bars, one does not know. But it must be taken in the context of ‘justice for the most vulnerable in society’, not in terms of extracting revenge from the defeated rivals on the political field.
The country’s economy is not in an advancing stage yet; but it’s steady and seems to be headed in the right direction. Government interruptions seem to be limited and the political heads of the government have so far been distant from corruption, nepotism and bribery. No system change has been installed, but the status quo has had its day and seemingly on the way out. But in politics, nothing can be ruled in or out.
In the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos who ruled the country like a brutal dictator was deposed in 1986, yet his son, Bongbong Marcos was elected President in 2022. What a cruel irony of people’s choice? Namal Rajapaksa is still in the arena. His father and uncles are being alleged to have committed gravely blatant financial crimes against the people of Sri Lanka, but one can never rule out the possibility of Namal Rajapaksa coming to power in the future. Shelf-life of people’s memory could be too short and other circumstances certainly can intervene to create objective and subjective conditions to make way for Namal again.
Therefore, AKD’s role now becomes crucially significant. His and his government’s focus should be laser driven and must be on the service of all Sri Lankans: Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and other minorities. There is no way can he evade this challenging paradigm. As much as he created a new dimension in the country’s’ political mindset, that a boy who had his secondary education at Thambuththegama Central School in Anuradhapura district and passed out as a Physical Science graduate from the University of Kelaniya and of Peradeniya, has more than he has bargained for. His comprehension prowess that has been weaved into impeccable oratorical skills has catapulted him to a unique position in society. That by itself is a remarkable achievement for a boy who learnt his abc in politics in the cells of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) when it was under Rohana Wijeweera.
AKD has not only transformed that cellish JVP into a mainstream national party, he has mutated and reshaped the country’s meandering flow of events into a vibrant and fresh cascade of thinking and ideals. He cannot rest, for those who tire and pursue a righteous path have no time to rest their feet or mind. AKD has proven that he has, within himself, that extraordinary determination, capacity and ability to take the country where he originally thought was its ultimate destination. Whether he would reach that destination or not, the very journey itself can create many an achievements of unparalleled measure, despite the inevitable obstacles and deterrent by his rivals.
It is indeed an enchanting journey, originally in the woods of the unknown where the fellow travelers could pass away without notice by the leader, but with each new step, new adventures stare in your face that challenge you to the ends of your endurance. It is an enthralling awakening!

Even though Gota R left his post and ran away to Maldives and then to Singapore now resides in luxury residence provided by the Tax Payers of SL. It’s a WASTE of money to provide Ex-Presidents luxury living. They have enough money to live on their OWN.
They should be punished for bringing the SL economy to the rock bottom by depriving access to the external world.
They may still be manipulating their hooligans/Thugs inside and outside the country. Time to catch the big fishes/SHARKS.

Naman: Gotabaya is not living in a luxury house provided by the taxpayers. He now lives in his home at Mirihana, but receives a pension, security, etc. Yet, I do not understand how he is receiving a “Pension” after his resignation. Hopefully, a new legislation is scheduled to be introduced in Parliament to terminate all those perks, including pensions.

After AKD was elected, China had told him not to do anything to Mahinda, Ranil and Gota. After the election, Gota fled to Nepal ruled by communist government. After few days he came back and is living without any fear. He would have never returned unless he was given assurance by a powerful country. Recently it was told that two countries have told AKD not to harass Mahinda. Ultimately only sprats will get caught and sharks will get away.

Author has highlighted this fact. That is Sinhalese people have turned against corruption of past governments but people have not turned down their heroic act of genocide of Tamil people and dividing Tamil speaking people in the North East since 1948. It is also a fact the Buddhism was used by politicians and religious leadership to escape from corruption and genocide crimes that committed over this century.
Aragalya highlighted both racism and corruption but the NPP government focus is only in corruption but not about genocide of Tamils. Tamils thought NPP will consider both and trust of the Tamils in NPP is deteriorating now will turn in to a disaster if NPP does not open his heart towards changing the Sinhalese MPs mission of his party and the Sinhalese people towards sharing the power with Tamil speaking people under a united Sri Lanka.

Vishwamitra,
.
You’re not quite as insightful as you seem to think.
.
Your perspective on the Aragalaya comes across as shallow—almost childlike in its simplicity. You appear to be merely recounting surface-level events without questioning the deeper inconsistencies that were quietly swept under the rug during that period.
.
As a writer, you have a responsibility to probe beyond appearances and confront these contradictions. For instance, the public demanded that Gota “go home,” yet before stepping down, he ensured Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned first. Then, strategically, Ranil Wickremesinghe was brought in to replace Mahinda. Only after this shift did Gota begin to ease out. Did you ever stop to ask yourself why it unfolded in that specific sequence?
.
That single question could open the door to a very different understanding of what actually happened.
.
Don’t settle for echoing what’s visible on the surface. Writing fluent English doesn’t equate to being perceptive—it’s just noise if it lacks depth and purpose.
.
In your case you maybe doing it for money, I can understand how survival may have a serious motivation and thus your lackadaisical writing. However it has been very clear to me that you have always been a mediocre character and a clueless fool.

Thank you, HT. You have expressed it better than anyone else.
–
Acts like yours have the power to permanently alter generations.
–
As previously stated, not once many a times, media scammers of all kinds who pose as “investigative journalists” are continuously deceiving our people.
–
if professionals in the field would thoroughly examine each person’s profile, people would never have voted for idiots.
–
People wouldn’t trust their phony public image if they and other professionals in our nation performed their duties well. Not only did the media overrate AKD, HA, and other JVP ministers—who, in reality, shouldn’t be ministers—based solely on their “public rhetorics” against the corruption and crimes of their competitor politicians. Because the legal system has also been shown to be corrupt, some people have been caught in jail sessions while many others are still out.

Unfortunately, it appears that our professionals and artists are not as good at conveying the message as Denzil Washignton.
–
The only way for artists and other well-known SL professionals to spread our message to the world is with a leader who is open-minded enough to compete with world leaders; AKD and similar ignorant clowns will never be able to reach that level. This is exemplified by Denzel Washington, one of the most adored actors in HW films, and the recently emerged leader AT, BK, who is regarded as their light throughout Africa. I now watch videos from Africa because of the unmatched injustice they face there.
–
But in Burkina Faso, a young leader named Abraham Taorour, who seized power in a coup, has altered the global definition of strength. Our AKD does not have the most exceptional talent that we see in AT in Burkina Faso.
Please have a thorough conversation about this in this forum so that knowledgeable leaders can see AKD for what it really is.

Like your simile of Marcos son, Namal and Sri Lankan mentality.
You are trying to say this the government of AKD. This very bad and wrong concept to put in to the your readers.
NPP in nutshell is people’s choice due to the circumstances happened in the recent past.
If they make a society which is free of corruption, law abiding and equality is vested on people irrespective of caste, creed, and colour of the skin, masses will understand the new found values and they will not let the country go backwards even if the ruler is either Bongbong M or Namal R.
I think by the look of things Namal may not be eligible to contest any election in the future Sri Lanka.

In addition to making mistakes in prisons, the current rulers are unable to even read the lists of inmates being released, let alone impress the public with miraculous reforms.

The release of a prisoner with a criminal history under the presidential pardon on the last Vesak Poya presents a dilemma.
Authorities under the current government are in disarray. Despite two days having gone by, the justice minister has said nothing about this.

In UK, the leader of a political party will step down if the party fares badly at an election but in SL, it’s a case of boxing on. AKD was nobody at the last Presidential election but his luck turned for the better when the much hyped war hero, GR, bolted leaving behind a cache of lolly. He is back but was there an investigation, at least, by the Inland Revenue? AKD was quick to capitalise on the situation but had Premadasa jnr an ounce of self respect & even a tiny brain, he would have stepped down after he was chased away by the ‘aragalaya’ crowd & it wouldn’t have been plain sailing for AKD if the SJB (or the UNP) came out with a credible leader.
If Sarah F was acceptable to the aragalaya crowd, it seems that he is the new war hero but SF also has baggage. It shows the mind set of the people, the
inability to make decisions rationally, voting ‘with the heart, not with the head’. AKD is charismatic & articulate, no doubt sincere but than is not enough to make the NPP deliver.

about why our guys can not step down . Parties Do Not Have Second In

It’s called leadership.
/
Raj-UK / June 13, 2025
The buck stops with the leader. Sunak was a capable leader but stepped down when the conservatives lost to labour. Cameron resigned when UK decided to leave the EU because he opposed Brexit. They didn’t do any wrong but accepted responsibility for the loss. A bad election result indicates loss of faith or rejection by the public & a new leadership is expected to turn things right. It’s not only in politics. Also, there is something called self respect.

LOOKS LIKE NOSTALGIA ON OVERDRIVE.
If the JVP (or was it the NPP) was the big hope of the Aragalaya, what leadership did it offer to the Aragalaya in its most difficult moment, we it was crushed by force?
It was no different from the rest ad took the back seat, when the FLSP and others faced the brunt of the attack.
*
Frankly, the JVP simply capitalized on the public sentiment aroused by the Aragalaya.
If its contribution to the Aragalaya was predominant, it has much to answer for in the actions that led t the collapse of the Aragalaya.
*
The JVP was not one bit interested in any kind of ‘system change’ then, or in the years running up to the elections, or is it now, or will it be in the years to come.
Let us stop fooling ourselves with fairy tales.

Whatever comes from the Lankan media today, whether it is state media, private media, or anything else, has no credibility.
They rose to power by promising the unexpected, but have struggled to settle even minor issues that teenagers would resolve immediately. What happened to Punarudaya?
The faux pas created by the incumbent government exceeds any poor levels that any leader has ever faced. I’m not sure how many more months AKD will be away from the Aragalaya 2 revolution. The Rila-consensus and its outcome took three months, even though they assumed that everything under them would be efficient, as no leader would do.

Is there any evidence that the former president cleared the NSS?

The 26-month-old interior government, headed by RW and the small cabinet, accomplished a lot for the common good, in my opinion and the opinion of many sane people. This nation would have become a Somaliya today if nothing had been accomplished. In just two years, no nation has risen out of the level of Greece’s bankruptcy, but Sri Lanka did, and for that, the world respects RW.
I respect leaders if they have done good, but I don’t support politicians from any party.
/
Raj-UK / June 10, 2025
RW’s weakness was his laid back approach which doesn’t inspire confidence & looking the other way to corruption probably for his own survival. He was also undermined by Premadasa jnr. It all points out to lack of strong leadership qualities but to be fair, he has been severely underated, compared to much hyped politicians who have not contributed anythig significant for the better.
I agree with LM that SL would probably be a Somalia now if not for RW. The NPP opposed every move RW made but it seems that it is his strategy they are now following

My dear Raj-UK,
Our country is full of hate and animosity, even within communities.
If a person was skinned to death, many people from our communities, whether Sinhala, Tamil, or Muslim, would enjoy their shadenfreude (e.g., 83-riots and 89-92-JVP riots).
Not long ago, remember how our people behaved when Dr. Safi was single-handedly killed?
Those who live in difficult rural areas harbour animosity and resentment towards their urban neighbours. It is sometimes possible to describe it using words. AKD comes from a background of immense malice and hatred. Those hatreds spread like wildfire, fuelled by “exaggerated accusations”.
I checked it to see if Pope’s bulletproof vehicle was worth a million pounds, but it isn’t even half a million dollars. But I’ve heard AKD blatantly lie that former Sri Lankan leaders used vehicles worth 1-2 million USD – can you imagine how big the lie is?
–
For smaller countries like ours to overcome their internal obstacles, they must first come together. But we are like “ignite fire wood covered by ashes” in our unity.
–
The first thing we should do is get together. They should be cautioned not to misuse the “place given to their sanga constume” by Pinguththarayas. By forgetting his “own previous public rhetorics” against the same AKD, the abusive monk of Mihinthale Viharaya made AKD the hero yesterday. How dare these fools believe that their public remarks contaminate the water?

Hello Nimal,
Before I saw Catch 22, we studied G B Shaw’s Arms and the Man “The Chocolate Cream Soldier” for our “O” Grades. Before Yossarian, Captain Bluntschli was our Hero. Around the same time we discovered the First World War poets like Wilfred Owen – “Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori”. In English, “it is a sweet and fitting thing to die for one’s country”. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/46560/dulce-et-decorum-est
My Grandfathers and others of their Generation had hinted to us about the realities of War and how bad both of the World Wars had been.
This led to the creation of the United Nations. Donald Trump and the Israelis are systematically dismantling the UN.
As for Ranil, it looks like Keheliya Rambukwella has “grassed him off”. Will he come back from Russia or will he ask for Asylum?
Best regards

LS
The control that the US has had over the most vital organ of the UN, the UNSC, has rendered the UN impotent in all matters other than those that serve US interests.
The UNGA is an embarrassment to the US-Israel partnership as they have been found together in opposing anything fair that the whole world agrees on.
Trump sees the UN as a waste of American money, almost the way he sees NATO.
The world, at least the Global South, could, as a result, move faster towards its own forum.
Trump may by far be the most shortsighted leader of any country in recent history.

The colossus extravagance of the Rajapakse regime must be recalled. They kept their supporters happy and gay by throwing lavish parties. The Barbados extravagance to secure the sponsorship of the Commonwealth Games was a classic example. Nivard Cabral had a great hand in it and the Greek Bond Scandal. He secured a plump job for his son with the Chinese in the Port City Project. Navard Cabral must be brought to account for wasting the tax payers hard currency. The Container with 300 kg of heroin went into the oblivion of the Government Chemist.

.
The Buddha Dhamma teaches us: “Cetanāhaṁ bhikkhave kammaṁ vadāmi” — “It is our intentions that guide and lead to our actions.”
This profound statement emphasizes that intention is what truly shapes our actions and their consequences.
.
With this in mind, it becomes easier to see through the illusion crafted by Mahinda Rajapaksa—an image of a benevolent leader who, according to popular narrative, loved his country and heroically ended the war against Prabhakaran. However, if we examine his actions post-2009, a very different picture emerges.
.
He entrusted critical national infrastructure projects to China, often at high-interest rates, placing long-term burdens on the nation. The Hambantota Port, a key strategic asset, was effectively handed over through deals that compromised Sri Lanka’s sovereignty. These were not decisions driven by patriotism, but by short-sighted political and personal gain.
.
He exploited national resources to enrich his family and inner circle, treating the country like a personal estate. Loyalty and state benefits were distributed not by merit, but through favoritism, often rewarding sycophants at the expense of the taxpayer.
.
Driven by an insatiable ego and narcissistic tendencies, he sought glorification more than governance. Sadly, many Sri Lankans were mesmerized by superficial projects and orchestrated spectacles. Hero worship replaced critical thinking. Some individuals, close to power, abandoned integrity for material favors.

HT,
The greater failure, in my opinion, is our people.
–
Because MaRa leadership played a key role in ending the civil war that kept the nation in darkness for at least 30 years, they simply disregard any serious crimes they may have committed.
–
As a form of compensation, the rescuer asked the woman who had saved her life—who was on the verge of death if he hadn’t helped her—to sleep with him.
–
Similar to this, the Sri Lankan media of all kinds exaggerated and praised RAJAPAKSHES without any justification, and during that time, the decline of society reached unimaginable proportions.
–
The use of illicit governance methods and apathy escalated beyond global standards – during the period from 2005-2015 and again from 2019 to 2022.
/
leelagemalli / June 9, 2025
Mr. HP,
Mervin Silva or someone similar should undoubtedly be investigated, but Ajith Cabral and other Rajapakshes who stole the last cent should also be looked into right away. Because Cabral made a worse choice by deceiving Gota in his final months in office, he shouldn’t be allowed to live out the rest of his life in prison. Not to mention that Dr. Paddeniya (FORMER GMOA chairman) ought to be hanged right away.
–
The current government and its affairs, in my opinion, are not clean enough to rid the AKD leadership of corruption. Udaya Gammanpila and other former Pro-Rajapkashe men are not my cup of tea, but he has been doing a good job of exposing a lot today. Regarding the 323 containers that were released, the ruling party remains silent, and the government has not yet revealed any information about the contents of the containers.

Mahinda Rajapakse or any other purported leader would not have defeated Prabhakan. It was 911 which turned the tide against LTTE. It was because US declared LTTE and the rest of the world proscribed it as a terrorist organization thus starving LTTE of weapons and funds. It was a surreal gift for MR. Otherwise he would never have survived for sure.
/
SJ / June 10, 2025
Is the theory that if there was no 9/11, the US would have been pally with the LTTE?
The LTTE was defeated all the same.
India was determined on destroying the LTTE, and it did whatever it could to wreck the peace talks.
The LTTE as a fighting force was weakening and not quite ready for prolonged conventional war. Guerilla warfare of some kind is something where it could have endured with public support. But the LTTE cadres had got too used to the perks of power by then.
/
Human Touch / June 11, 2025
HP In my memory, several critical events contributed to the downfall of Velupillai Prabhakaran and the LTTE—beyond the global shift following the 9/11 attacks.
One of the most pivotal moments was the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, which permanently turned India against the LTTE. Later, when the Congress Party returned to power with Sonia Gandhi as its leader, India’s stance became even more firm. The LTTE lost any hope of regaining Indian sympathy or diplomatic support.
In July 2006, the LTTE made a grave strategic mistake by closing the sluice gates of the Mavil Aru anicut, effectively cutting off water to tens of thousands of civilians in government-controlled areas. This act gave the Sri Lankan government both justification and urgency to respond militarily. What followed was a full-scale offensive led by General Sarath Fonseka, who systematically pushed the LTTE out of one region after another.
Another turning point was the failed assassination attempt on Sarath Fonseka—a major blow to the LTTE’s operational credibility. Around the same time, the November 26, 2008 Mumbai terror attacks shifted international focus even more sharply toward counter-terrorism, reducing whatever global tolerance remained for armed non-state actors like the LTTE.
The internal split between Prabhakaran and Colonel Karuna was also a significant setback. Karuna’s defection deprived the LTTE of a stronghold in the East and disrupted its chain of command.

Dear HT. I appreciate your intellect. The Liberation of Tigers Movement is a highly complex and an entangled issue. It did not start in a vacuum. SWRD Sinhala Only policy idiotically transformed into Sinhala within 24 hours setting the whole place on fire. They carried those who staged a Sathyagraha at the Galle Face and literally carried them and threw them into the Beira Lake. It was total insanity and chaos. The whole country blew up in flames. Lot of innocent people got killed and properties set ablaze. Sinhala chauvinist or opportunists should carry the blame.

I agree with you completely on this.
It was the mistakes of the myopic Sinhala politicians with the overzealous unbuddhist Buddhist monks actions in the 50s that resulted in the formation of the LTTE in the first place.
I am not one to celebrate the LTTE defeat like we achieved something, the war should not have happened at all.
Moreover the LTTE was defeated at a massive human cost, especially of kidnapped and trapped innocent Tamil civilians (men, women and children).
The country was free from the LTTE, but something far worst took its course, Mara and his corruption regime. See where that has taken us.
If could learn from our past mistakes and take correction it would be a consolation.
/
SJ / June 11, 2025
HT
The ‘mistakes’ of the LTTE cannot be separated from its ideological and strategical outlook.
An outlook in which anyone who is not with you is an enemy is self-destructive.
Look at the long list of political killings.
The LTTE was never interested in broad alliances that isolate the main enemy, which was a minority among the Sinhalese.
/
Human Touch / June 12, 2025
Dear SJ
Yes, the LTTE had deep flaws—driven largely by the ego and authoritarian nature of its leader. He caused immense damage before his downfall.
But the deeper issue lies in the failure of vision among Sinhala political leaders. It was that failure which created the conditions for someone like Prabhakaran to rise in the first place.
At the heart of it, no community should try to dominate minorities simply because of a numerical advantage.
Governments must not exploit majoritarian sentiment for short-term political gain. Our constitution is clear: every citizen is entitled to equal rights under the law—no exceptions.
/

I agree.

Thank you, Mr. HP, for spelling it out. Our people are consistently misled. They are born stupid people ( I mean whole lot of them).
.
“9/11 turned the tide against the LTTE. It was because the United States declared the LTTE a terrorist organisation, and the rest of the world prohibited it from receiving weapons or funding.”
–
LTTE was banned in any rich soils thanks to the exemplary services provided by Late Mr Kadigramar (FORMER FM), whom I once met in Bonn.
–
Today, everyone (real MODAYAS misled by SRLANKEN-style mediamafia) adored MEDAMULANA dogs for no apparent reason and made them Weerayas as usual.
–
To me, Sri Lanka is a garbage dump that stinks, but its existence is necessary for a variety of poisonous creatures to survive. Many people are essentially animals disguised as humans. We are expected to fall into the same pit over and over.
–
The same media mafia made AKD (empty vessel) the only option; now it’s clear that the man’s abilities aren’t all its. cracked up to be.
–
According to international podium reports, if the IMF removes Sri Lanka from their austerity plan, the country will inevitably become more like South Sudan. Throughout the nation, Sri Lankans will have to endure “starving Dafur” areas. The public masturbation of a dog will be the cause of this.

Some say, without any findings, that the present cabinet lacks experience.
In a sense, I agree because the types of corruption and robbery done by the “Deep State” officials and the Ministers of the previous Governments are beyond anyone’s comprehension. The latest, how the Prison “High Command” has very surreptitiously released the prisoners under cover from the “President’s Pardon”. This has been going on for years and years. Just watch the types of corruption committed by the so-called “professionals,” including the Vice Chancellors of the universities that are being revealed at the COPE meetings.
However, the good news is that we have a new Government that is unearthing all the corruption and robbery by these “Deep State” professionals and politicians. Let us go slowly, yet on sound footing, to bring the culprits to face the consequences of their misdoings.
We in Sri Lanka are confident that the “CLEANUP” will be done by AKD

Mr. Douglas,
.
“Some say, without any findings, that the present cabinet lacks experience”
–
Others, including you, Mr. Douglas, struggle as well, but they are currently blind to it.
It was brilliantly analysed by a group of UGs or something. Whoever they are. Why should the messengers be shot? We should take note of them. It is worthwhile to pay attention to the opposition if the AKD leadership is sincere about succeeding.

Despite the fact that teenagers generally cry more, the majority of them fail in front of their more seasoned parents and family members. This also applies to how the current government has handled state affairs.
A
It has been shown that none of the current leaders have the necessary experience to govern the nation. It’s not me; people with some knowledge can gauge how well or poorly they’ve performed over the past eight months. Now that the state leader, AKD, is in Germany, there is no state-level news regarding his formal visit. The entire Sri Lankan population is insulted by this.

Not only you devilishly support those war criminals in Israel, you are now supporting the madman trump who is openly racist and anti-immigrant.
Which god are you worshipping?
You sound like a devil worshipper who has lost his identity.
Your days are numbered, you will see your doom.
You are a pathetic excuse and a waste of a human life.

Hello DTG,
Trump may end up like Richard Nixon, who resigned before he was removed by the Impeachment process. Trump is far more deranged than Nixon, has told more lies in one Day than Nixon did during his whole Term in Office, and has been a participant in more than 3500 Lawsuits.
Try reading the Book “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump” written by 37 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Professionals to see if it is Leelagemalli or Trump that needs “Some Psychiatry”.
