The Black Abaya & Majjhima-Patipada

By Mass L. Usuf

Mass L. Usuf

All we are is the result of what we have thought, it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him like a shadow that never leaves him.” – (Dhammapada).

The article “Cultural harmony and the middle path” (CT, 21.11.2015) referring to mine titled “Cultural invasion – in the wake of the Abaya” (CT, 19.11.2015), does not reflect a correct understanding of the views, I had expressed. Moreover, the Professor has traversed into certain areas which I had not even addressed in my article. So by way of explanation and clarification, I thought of writing this piece hoping it would be of benefit.

In this, there is no one-upmanship but the intellectual pursuit towards better understanding the different perspectives. At the very inception, I entreat all towards right view and right thinking.

What I have explained in my article is that modesty is a universal principle and that such principle is manifest in Buddhistic, Christian and Islamic practices. I have proven my statement giving the example of the dress of the Bikkhuni and the Christian nun. The bikkhuni covers her entire body except her face, wrists, ankles and her head. It does not matter if one wears the black abaya or yellow abaya, the objective is to cover oneself non-attractively.

Professor Abhayawansa states that I am attempting to make out that the black abaya accords with the middle path in Buddhism. Black, is a colour ; Abaya is an outer garment. It does not make sense for these two to accord with the middle path in Buddhism as the Professor has asserted.

It has been mentioned that if the black abaya is to comply with the Middle Path it should be a moderate dress acceptable to all. The Professor must be aware that there is no universal definition for the Middle Path. The midway between the two extremes of anything is blurry, subjective and relative. Moreover, the Professor says about a dress acceptable to all. Who sets the parameters for a dress acceptable to all? Has the Professor forgotten that we are living in a democratic country? Respectfully, it is beyond comprehension as to how the Professor can even make such a statement?

The Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta lays down what the Buddha said about the middle path:

There are these two extremes that are not to be indulged in by one who has gone forth. Which two? That which is devoted to sensual pleasure with reference to sensual objects: base, vulgar, common, ignoble, unprofitable; and that which is devoted to self-affliction: painful, ignoble, unprofitable………

It is clear that the middle way is the way between sensual pleasure and self affliction. Sensual pleasure with reference to sensual objects. No one can deny the fact that a woman is not a sensual being. Therefore, when a woman has covered herself the extremes of base, vulgar sensual pleasure can be avoided. That is the Middle Path. The bikkhunis rightly and respectfully cover themselves accordingly.

It may be of interest to state that in Islam, too, there is mention of the Middle Path. The Quranic equivalent to the Majjhima-Patipada (The Middle Way) is Ummatan Wasatan (Middle Nation or People of Moderation). It states:

And thus have We willed you to be a community of the middle way, so that [with your lives] you might bear witness to the truth before all mankind. (Quran Chapter 2 Verse 143)

The Middle Way is the path of avoiding extremes of anger and fanaticism and also of hedonism and asceticism. It is the path of moderation, peace and compassion.

When speaking about covering the body, Islam extends it to protecting the haya of the person i.e. modesty, shyness, self-respect, bashfulness, shame, etc. Also, the Awrah i.e. the intimate parts of the body. These principles are applicable even for the men. Even Muslim men have to wear their cloths protecting their haya and awrah. For example, you will not see Muslim men wearing shorts above their knees exposing their thighs. So this principle of modesty is common for both men and women based on the biological features.

The Professor says that the people would perceive the dress-form of covering the body as extremism. Based on this logic, we have to accept that the bikkhuni is also an extremist. She also covers her body just as the Muslim woman does; the only difference is the colour. This is the wrong perception I was referring to in my article which the Professor has apparently missed out. It is precisely on this premise I questioned what would be the reaction if the Muslim woman wore a yellow coloured outer garment.

“The Sri Lankan social context is different” writes the Professor. This is another flawed proposition. A bikkhuni visiting a micro-mini wearing western country or black abaya wearing middle-east country would wear the same coloured robe she wears? She is not going to change her robe or the colour of the robe just because the social pattern is different in those countries.

“According to Buddhism perceptions based on sensory objects cannot be avoided. As long as sensory objects come into the path of sensory organs, namely eye ear, nose tongue, body and mind”. The writer is very correct. This is reason why the hejab is worn in order to avoid the sensory organ of eye from seeing and then sensualising the body and the mind.

As long as the desire however small (of the passions) of a man towards women is not cut down, so long the mind of a man is in bondage, he is bowed like a calf tied to a cow”. (Dammapada, 284)

“If the perception leads to further proliferative activities, then it is harmful..” he writes. This supports my point. Perception is obviously not harmful in Islam too, but like the Professor correctly said if it leads to proliferative activities it is harmful. It is exactly this harm to the spiritual purity of the human being that Islam wants to protect.

The writer fallaciously states, “If one culture tries to impose…..”. No Muslim in Sri Lankan has ever imposed on any woman to wear the abaya. The writer also states that it will break the equilibrium of the multicultural society. I ask the learned Professor on what basis are you making this assumption? This is a wrong perception (sanna). How about the Muslim woman not wearing the abaya but colour their hair red, wear tattoo on their full arm etc. I am wondering if this would be questioned as breaking the equilibrium of the multicultural society.

Honestly, sincerely and without prejudice think about what has ever been said about our youth having all the funky hairstyles, wearing partly torn jeans, ears pierced and doing all the weird things blindly aping the west. Sometimes it is difficult to determine if one is a male or female. Are these not alien to our culture? No, no it is modernity. It is fashion, I believe !

The Professor speaks about the Middle Path and also speaks of ethnic squabbles. Wonder what happened to the Middle Path? In a country that is preaching Metta: loving kindness, Karuna: compassion, Mudita: sympathetic joy and Upekkha: equanimity, how can the Professor who should be promoting peaceful co-existence even suggest the “disturbance of ethnic harmony leading to squabbles and harm to the whole society”.

The black abaya per se is not the issue. The prejudice which creates the wrong perception is the problem. This is what the Buddha taught. Prejudice causes wrong perception, wrong perception creates wrong views both together causes confusion in the minds culminating in the disabling of the power of discernment and distinction.

Finally, to the skeptics out there undoubtedly, they would reflect on the Quranic Middle Path and the violent acts done under the banner of “Islam”. I must emphatically, unequivocally and unreservedly say that the type of violence perpetrated in the name of Islam, has in fact, nothing to do with Islam. There is deliberate and purposeful maligning and misrepresentation of certain Quranic verses relating to war by those who buddhistically put, harbor the wrong view or would always like to find fault even if they see the truth as clear as daylight. Also, by eclectic quoting of verses and that, too, out of context. Ultimately, making a fool of themselves.

The doctrines of Jus ad bellum (the conditions for resorting to war) and  Jus in bello (regulating the conduct of parties engaged in an armed conflict) are well documented and clearly laid out principles in Islam. One may refer to Professor C. G. Weeramantry’s book titled, Islamic Jurisprudence.

RE: The Black Abaya & Majjhima-Patipada

Th Begin with, Covering the head and being black are NOT prescribed in the Quran.

They are all innovations, Wahhabi Innovations. The Devil is Confusing the Wahhabis and their clones.

Another innovation is stoning adulterers to death. What is prescribed is 100 lashes.( stoning is described in the Hadith, and Hadith is subservient to the Quran)

A lot of innovations have been introduced, and the stupid Muslims just follow without reason, and the Devil, Iblis, Satan following Wahhabi and their Clones such as ISIS are running amok, innovating Isl;am, in their image.

There is no middle path for the Wahhabi and their clones They follow the Devil, Iblis and only follow the devil’s Path.

In Islam, the Devil is known as Iblīs (Arabic: إبليس‎, plural: ابالسة abālisah), Shayṭān (Arabic: شيطان‎, plural: شياطين shayāṭīn) or Shaitan. In Islam, Iblis is a jinni who refused to bow for Adam.

The primary characteristic of the Devil is hubris.[1] His primary activity is to incite humans and jinn to commit evil through deception, which is referred to as “whispering into the hearts”.[2] The Quran mentions that Satans are the assistants of those who disbelieve in God: “We have made the evil ones friends to those without faith.”[3]

The term Iblis (Arabic: إِبْلِيس‎) is probably altered from Ancient Greek διάβολος (diábolos), also the ultimate source of English devil.[citation needed] An alternative folk etymology derivation is from the Arabic verbal root بَلَسَ (balasa, “he despaired”).[4] The term Shaytan (Arabic: شَيْطَان‎) has the same origin as Hebrew שָׂטָן (Sātān), source of the English Satan.

In popular Islamic culture, “Shaytan” (Arabic: شيطان‎), is often simply translated as “the Devil”, but the term can refer to any of the jinn who disobey God and follow Iblīs. Some scholars are of the view that Iblīs is the father of all of the jinn, just as Adam is the father of all of humanity[5] as mentioned in the Quran (sura 18, Al-Kahf), “Will you then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me? And they are enemies to you!”[6]

    The Devil in Islamic theology[edit]
According to The Oxford Dictionary of Islam, shaytan is used in the Quran in the singular, and the plural shayatin often interchangeably with Iblis, who is “considered to be a particular shaytan.”[7]

According to basic Islamic teachings, God revealed the creation of three intelligent species: angels (malāʾikah), demons (jinn), and humans (basher), of which the latter two have been granted free will to choose between good and evil,[8][9] and the Quran states that there is other creation beyond human knowledge “and He has created (other) things of which we have no knowledge.”[10]

The angels, being creatures of pure reason without lower animal desires, do not sin. When God created Adam, he commanded all the angels and Iblis (whose high rank allowed him to worship Allah with the angels) to prostrate to Adam.[1] All the angels did so, but Iblis refused, and was deprived of Allah’s Mercy because of his arrogant disobedience.[11] For this God cast him out of Jannah (paradise), and intended to punish him. Iblis begged God to delay the punishment until Yawm al-Qiyāmah (Last Judgment), and his request was granted.[12]

It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels prostrate to Adam, and they prostrate; not so Iblis; He refused to be of those who prostrate.
(Allah) said: “What prevented thee from prostrating when I commanded thee?” He said: “I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay.”

    — Quran, sura 7 (Al-A’raf) ayat 11-12[13]

The Wahhabis and their clones should be warned that they will end up in Hell with Iblis, Devil and there will be no 72 Virgins or 72 Raisins for them.

Another circumstantial evidence that the Wahhabis Follow the Devil, Iblis.

Iblis, Devil refused to bow down to Adam. Iblis , Devil Taught Wahhabis to follow the example, and made the other Muslims to accept Wahhabism, and bow down to Wahhabism, or threatened to kill them.

Wahhanis have been doing tghis for sometime, Now ISIS, funded by Wahhabis are doing that.

They are also innovating. The call other Muslims Kafir. They change the punishment given in the Quran for adultery, 100 lashes, to stoning to death.

Wahhabi are truly the Followers of the Devil, Iblis. But Why?

The Devil, has already been assigned HEll, until the day of Judgement. Iblis, Devil wants company in Hell, and he has recruited the Wahhabis and their clones, who will dwell in Hell for eternity with the Iblis, Devil. Reference Below.

“For this God cast him out of Jannah (paradise), and intended to punish him. Iblis begged God to delay the punishment until Yawm al-Qiyāmah (Last Judgment), and his request was granted.[12]”

This guy is trying interpret Islamic exteremism as buddhist Middle path.

I think black abahaya is about women covering the whole body.

buddhism does not have such lay womem or cilivian specific rules. On the other hand, Bhikkus and bhikkunis have one third of pali canon only those Two groups.

But, civilian men or women have generally five precepts.

I don’think killing kafirs, killing infidels, women specific rules are not middle way. It is just oppression and extremism.

This is just dishonest and lack of respect for another religion. That is very understandable from a muslim.

Making Women to cover their whole body and comapring that to the high discipline required from Bhikkunis and Bhikkus is just dishonesty and pathetic nature of a human being.

Why did not you say that Muslim women behaves cathlic nunc or monks in a semanary ?

      I agree with you Jim.

I do not believe in any religion, including Buddhism though I am a born Buddhist. However, in the spectrum of religions, I consider Buddhism to be the best and Islam to be the worst.

Islam is like a trap. Once in you cannot come out.

There is no freedom of thought. You believe or you die. You are with us or you die. This principle is well demonstrated by the ISIS right now.

Such a religion goes completely against human freedom and right to decide.

I do not worry much though, because the Muslims will destroy themselves as happening in Iraq and Syria now.

I believe all religions are bunkum and the tenets are not words from God or even the prophets because printing had not been invented yet and the divine words were passed on by word of mouth from generation to generation for at least 800 years. Of all the religions, Buddhism carries more currency because it is deemed a way of life and a philosophy without any miracles or superhuman treats. Unfortunately that too got corrupted by self-serving bikkhus. The birth of religions was indeed a good thing as it was then the only means of education to instil discipline and moral conduct to the masses. The responsibility for writing down the doctrines were left to the male species and it was human nature to skew them to favour men. While most religions reviewed and reformed, Islam got stuck in a rut as it was blasphemous to question the doctrines and the punishment was death.

      Jim Softly and others

The simple meaning is wear the dress fully covered and avoid getting raped by not sending the signal of sex and then it is left to the women to dress voluptuously fully revealing the cleave valley (double Decker) and the exposed waist and navel sending sensual signals to men to have sex.

Which style do you prefer your wife and daughters to wear.

      Choice is yours.

So it is the woman’s fault for getting raped. Your logic tallies with the Saudi’s Sharia laws that requires the raped woman to be stoned to death for having sex with a man not her husband. I am sure you approve.

    Question:
Why does Islam degrade women by keeping them behind the veil?

    Answer:
The status of women in Islam is often the target of attacks in the secular media. The ‘hijaab’ or the Islamic dress is cited by many as an example of the ‘subjugation’ of women under Islamic law. Before we analyze the reasoning behind the religiously mandated ‘hijaab’, let us first study the status of women in societies before the advent of Islam

    1. In the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust

The following examples from history amply illustrate the fact that the status of women in earlier civilizations was very low to the extent that they were denied basic human dignity:

    1. Babylonian Civilization:
The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death.

    2. Greek Civilization:
Greek Civilization is considered the most glorious of all ancient civilizations. Under this very ‘glorious’ system, women were deprived of all rights and were looked down upon. In Greek mythology, an ‘imaginary woman’ called ‘Pandora’ is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. The Greeks considered women to be subhuman and inferior to men. Though chastity of women was precious, and women were held in high esteem, the Greeks were later overwhelmed by ego and sexual perversions. Prostitution became a regular practice amongst all classes of Greek society.

    3. Roman Civilization:
When Roman Civilization was at the zenith of its ‘glory’, a man even had the right to take the life of his wife. Prostitution and nudity were common amongst the Romans.

    4. Egyptian Civilization:
The Egyptian considered women evil and as a sign of a devil.

    5. Pre-Islamic Arabia:
Before Islam spread in Arabia, the Arabs looked down upon women and very often when a female child was born, she was buried alive.

    2. Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them to maintain their status.

Islam uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Islam expects women to maintain their status.

    Hijaab for men

People usually only discuss ‘hijaab’ in the context of women. However, in the Glorious Qur’an, Allah (swt) first mentions ‘hijaab’ for men before ‘hijaab’ for the women. The Qur’an mentions in Surah Noor:

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.”
    [Al-Qur’an 24:30]

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

    Hijaab for women.

The next verse of Surah Noor, says:

” And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons…”
    [Al-Qur’an 24:31]

    3. Six criteria for Hijaab.

According to Qur’an and Sunnah there are basically six criteria for observing hijaab:

    1. Extent:

The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands upto the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body. Some scholars of Islam insist that the face and the hands are part of the obligatory extent of ‘hijaab’.

All the remaining five criteria are the same for men and women.

    2. The clothes worn should be loose and should not reveal the figure.

    3. The clothes worn should not be transparent such that one can see through them.

    4. The clothes worn should not be so glamorous as to attract the opposite sex.

    5. The clothes worn should not resemble that of the opposite sex.

    6. The clothes worn should not resemble that of the unbelievers i.e. they should not wear clothes that are specifically identities or symbols of the unbelievers’ religions.

    4. Hijaab includes conduct and behaviour among other things

Complete ‘hijaab’, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral conduct, behaviour, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only fulfilling the criteria of ‘hijaab’ of the clothes is observing ‘hijaab’ in a limited sense. ‘Hijaab’ of the clothes should be accompanied by ‘hijaab’ of the eyes, ‘hijaab’ of the heart, ‘hijaab’ of thought and ‘hijaab’ of intention. It also includes the way a person walks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.

    5. Hijaab prevents molestation

The reason why Hijaab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:

“O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Al-Qur’an 33:59]

The Qur’an says that Hijaab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.

    6. Example of twin sisters

Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Qur’an rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.

    7. Capital punishment for the rapists

Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this ‘harsh’ sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody else’s wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?

    8. Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women

Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

    9. USA has one of the highest rates of rape

United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

    10. Implementation of Islamic Shariah will reduce the rate of rapes

Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijaab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity.

We all know that in Sri Lanka its not the norm to cover a woman’s head in this manner.
Neither the Sinhalese nor the Tamil women cover their heads, so when Muslim women cover their heads so seriously, others can interpret it in many ways, they can think that aha Muslim women think they are different and they don’t want to belong with us hence they cover their heads.
In essence what the Muslim community is doing is indirectly telling others that they are different. Hence others can start treating Muslims differently.
In my humble opinion we have to try to find more common ground that trying to find differences in this divided world. Muslims are definitely not helping matters. What do you think?

Comparison to the nun and the bhikuni are inappropriate. They are people who have renounced life. Try to talk sense. It is obscene to see that women should be so treated that they have to be in black when they go out. It may be ok in Saudi Arabia. It should not be ok in Sri Lanka.

This is really humorous to see this anther’s poor attempt to show that Buddhism and Islam are same like but what is totally wrong – Both are different as much as earth and sky – Buddhism – the philosophic religion urge the man kind to think free . Question objects and believe, hails the strength of women and give them the right place in society .teach to Love other beings and protect them where as Islam -very conservative religion-tought by a prophet in a desert.teachings of as much as he could understand the world – the same ordinary believing that “god created every thing” – No self exploring – but believing without questioning – women are treated as sex slaves.Muslim women who live in black and white world for whole their life – and sharia low what is suitable for the stone age not for the 21 century. And ISIS the bunch of brainwashed so called crusaders of Islam keep killing innocents ,beheading them just bcoze of they are not Islam.
So Mr.whoever,Please stop this nonsense except you write them just to please your self

Usuf, you’ve written an ‘AL-haram’ article. Readers think that you are very ‘AL-Taqiyya’ minded.

Islam is strong enough to defend its contents. No need to quot other religions illogically.

Could you write an article about the the Muslim minister who is ruthlessly destroying Wilpattu national park and making illegal settlements? Also could you write an article about the growing Muslim extremism in SL? There are said to be hundreds of SL Muslims who’ve joined various terrorist groups.

Books about church says, that monastery and nunnery were joined by a tunnel. this helped priests to meet nuns inside the tunnel and make love.

I think, This gentleman should compare muslim women to nuns, who live together with their priests husbands.

Comparison with Buddhism is very dishonest attempt to sling mud at a peaceful religion.

Just days ago, ISIS has attacked a Muslim mosque in Bangladesh. So, the other group of muslims, Sunnis ?, would say that Isis is not muslims.

Anyway, this is how muslims are. they are doing their best to cover a violent cult.

One has to understand such problems in the context of conditions that prevailed in the region where Islam was born. The society consisted mainly of nomadic tribes usually fighting with each other for resources including women.

Due to battles, the mortality rate was high among men with women outnumbering men and hence polygamy was allowed.

There was a need for hiding women behind black clothes to reduce temptations of marauding men.

Islam is a religion meant for that type of society and whether such a religion is suited for the modern society, where there is equality for men and women, where freedom of expression and thought is held sacrosanct is a moot question.

I’d rather see your honest views on ISLAMIC JIHADIST of ISIL or DAESH. You Sir are Tamil Sri Lanka who speaks Tamil not Arabic. Why are you talking about Saudi Arab costumes? Also I would like you to be explicit in your condemnation or approval of Islamic Terrorism. Mr. Izeth Hussain is honest. He condemns Jihadi islamists but of course attacks Jews and spins things but we know where he and Hilmy stand on Jihadis of ISIL.

Will you respond to this or write and say “I CONDEMN ISIL; I THINK THE ATTACK IN BANGLADESH on a Shia mosque IS WRONG”.

    I dare you.

I know several Sri Lankan rich men who are Muslim and wear micro shorts showing thighs; they visit Thai Prostitutes at Juliana Hotel, Hire them at Hilton via the Concierge and Mt Lavinia and some of them have Rauffish sinhala mistresses too. So what? I know Sinhala Buddhist leaders of the same type too. I had Muslim friends who drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. So what? This is not Saudi Arabia where the rules fornicate and imbibe but force the slaves to do differently.

    From Kalama Sutra:

“Come, Kalamas. Do not go upon what has been acquired by repeated hearing; nor upon tradition; nor upon rumor; nor upon what is in a scripture; nor upon surmise; nor upon an axiom; nor upon specious reasoning; nor upon a bias towards a notion that has been pondered over; nor upon another’s seeming ability; nor upon the consideration, ‘The monk is our teacher.’

Kalamas, when you yourselves know: ‘These things are good; these things are not blamable; these things are praised by the wise; undertaken and observed, these things lead to benefit and happiness,’ enter on and abide in them”.

Can I do that if I were born to a Muslim family? Can I question the Holy Book? Those who quote from Buddhism to support the wearing of Abayas in schools should first read and understand the freedom of belief ensured in Buddhism as ecapsulated nicely in the above quoute.

Abaya is good for Apaaya in Jihadistan
The destruction of the grandest, most important temple in the ancient Syrian town of Palmyra has flung so-called Islamic State’s (IS) barbarous actions back into international consciousness. Many will wonder why anyone would so actively seek to raze historical and cultural marvels that have lasted millennia.
But for the IS bulldozers, the rationale is straightforward and fulfils several readily identifiable goals.

Your IBIS WAHABI SALAFISTS are nuts aping Saudi Arabs. Abaya is not prescribed in the Quaran. Stop trying to compare people like Nuns and Monks with ordinary Arab women forced to wear all black with a face mask like KKK
