The Choice Before The Country Is Between Good & Evil

By Fr Chryso Pieris

Strange happenings are taking place in our country in the socio-political field at the national level. Behind the struggle between political parties for power and influence and behind the choice between the economic theories of socialism and capitalism we can clearly see another struggle taking place. It is the eternal struggle between Good and Evil, Virtue and Vice, Decency and Grossness, Beauty and Ugliness. The contention between good and evil takes place in the hearts of men and women. It could be often seen among individuals in court cases. But today it has come on to the national stage where all the citizens of the country will be challenged to choose between good and evil and be arrayed on opposite sides not according to political party affiliations, nor according to differing economic theories but according to good and honest governance against evil and venal governance.

I met a man, not very young, in his late thirties, educated, professional and working in a bank. We had a frank chat. He is discouraged with the situation in the country. He remembered the great difficulties his family underwent when both his parents were out of work due to the tragic general strike of 1980. He prefers to emigrate to Australia or Canada, where he says he may be a third class citizen but he is assured of law and order, justice and fair play. I was speechless; I had nothing to offer him to keep him in the country. Apart from the fact that losing men like him is a terrible loss to the country, the brain drain, what is more tragic is that the younger generation is losing all motivation to be loyal to the country, the nation where they were born. I should not generalize from just one example, though given a chance, I know, many will fall over one another to immigrate to a better country. They have lost faith in their country.

Maithripala Mahinda talks May 06 2015The above is only one symptom of a sickness in the country. And the sickness is that Evil is triumphing over Good, Vice over Virtue and Grossness over Decency. All are equal before the law only in theory. It is enough to read the “Unfinished Struggle” of Victor Ivan to realize the utter degradation our judiciary has descended to. Most of the Police were boot licking lackeys of the powerful. The financial and administrative regulations were thrown overboard and forgotten. Too many civil servants became partners of racketeers, commission grabbers and various illegal traffickers. There was no place for merit and fair play. Graft, nepotism and greed reigned supreme. Who wants to live in a country like this especially decent, good young people?

The majority citizens of this country who are, thank God, decent and good people could not stand the stinking rot any longer and in January made the country take a U-turn. This is the felt need for a virtuous ethos in the country. They wanted a definite consciousness in the country that virtue matters, that it is highly regarded and those who are law-abiding and honest are not considered fools but are respected citizens. It is to establish this trend that they voted for the Swan. Let the jackasses shout, scream, plot and plan their next political move but the good decent people of this country are biding their time to take this country on the right path towards law and order, justice and fair play. For only thus can we stop the brain drain and motivate the young to be loyal to their country.

In this matter the president is leading by example in his personal life style. We are genuinely grateful to our president, Maithripala Sirisena (MS), for the exemplary statement he made at a public meeting. He said that none of the members of his family or anyone of his siblings will be contesting at the next parliamentary election. This is an earful to many politicians who shamelessly pushed their kith and kin in to politics following the ugly example of the wholesale nepotism of the defeated president. MS is serious about establishing good governance and a clean political culture in many ways. There are no huge cut outs along our main roads cutting off the pretty scenery from our tired eyes. He takes the regular passenger planes to travel abroad and takes only the necessary officers and diplomats with him and of course the First Lady. Imagine, he even stops at the red traffic light! He has put a stop to ‘dansala’ at the Temple Trees and has stopped all presidential waste of national wealth in self glorifying ‘tamashas’. The president recently declared to businessmen that they are free to do business, start industries, and produce goods and services without any interference from him only paying taxes to the government and he emphasized that he personally does not need a single cent from them. We expect MS never to betray the country even to save the party or to betray good governance for political expediency.

As someone recently said we should not send law breakers to the parliament to become the law makers. That is the only way to turn this country inside out getting rid of vice and brining back decency to our society. Our shameless, spineless crooked politicians are licking their lips and salivating to have their ‘watalappan’ after having pitilessly robbed the people of this country for the last ten years. Keep in mind those who voted against the 19th Amendment who abstained from voting and absented themselves very conveniently. Such political scum must not reach Diyawanna waters this time around. The SLFP will have to do a lot of painful and drastic cutting and chopping, lopping and pruning to clean up the party if they want to face elections and go before the people without shame. The present UNP must do a self examination of what they have done during the hundred days, especially in the Central Bank. The UNP says that the CB chief is not guilty of any wrong doings. Anyway his son-in-law hit the jackpot no sooner the father-in-law took office. What a lucky and lucrative coincidence! It is good for the UNP to know that the masses are not asses always. The finance minister was acquitted by a judge who immediately retired! Poor chaps, they could not keep their hands clean for a mere hundred days; what will happen if we give them power for a few years? They must right their wrongs immediately before it is too late. Otherwise they can expect to go the same way they were going all these years; nowhere!

There are some pathetic clowns, the organizers of ‘bring Mahinda back’ movement. They are holding up the ‘goni billa’, the division of the country, and bogeys like western conspiracies etc. which are now passé. Nobody is frightened of them any longer. What they have not learned is that in the last thirty years, during the fearful, bitter struggle to overcome separatist terrorism, slowly but surely some political essentials sank deep in to our national psyche. Sri Lanka is a unitary state and it is a non-negotiable national policy. This is in our constitution and will always remain in our constitution. Secondly, the North and the East will not be merged. Finally, the 13th amendment must be ruminated on for some more time, discussed and a decision must be taken about them. The provincial councils are redundant and irrelevant nine white elephants. They are a total liability to the country. Either they must be made efficient and usefully workable or they must be forthwith abandoned. These facts are now taken for granted. They are part of our national ethos. The opportunistic patriotism of the ‘bring Mahinda back’ people clearly exposes them as scoundrels. Bogus patriotism is their last refuge. They can be ignored as they are only barnacles on a sinking ship.

Now it is our turn to chase away all these self serving, greedy crooks from public life and from politics in this country. It must be done and it can be done. We must realize that we have a grave responsibility to the future of our country. We cannot allow this historic moment to slip us by. Each of us and everybody has some work to do. We must propagate the message of electing only the deserving candidates and giving no chances at all to the evil ones to come back to power. The party is immaterial; it is persons that matter.

I shall summarize a method of choosing the deserving candidates in to five principles. They would be actually a pledge of citizens to bring about good governance. The first one is for the eradication of corruption. “I will vote only for a candidate who declares his assets and publishes the same in the national newspapers for the perusal of the public.”

Let us not send thieves to the parliament. Those known to be corrupt, connected to mega-deals, mentioned in the COPE reports and presently under investigation, must never go near Diyawanna waters. Those who were MPs in the previous regime and have visibly accumulated great wealth must not only declare their assets but show how they came around to own so much. It is not enough they show their assets only to the Elections Commissioner. Those who are reluctant to declare their assets to the public are simply not trustworthy.

The second one is about eradication of violence from public life. “I will not vote for a violent candidate who is known to have murdered people, has connections to the underworld of drugs, bootleg, arms, human trafficking and prostitution and though legal, deals in trades such as alcohol, gambling, casinos, timber and minerals.”
Those who cannot control their anger, who when in power take revenge from the political opponents, who take the law in to their hands, who intimidate and humiliate police officers, administrative officers and ordinary citizens of the country, who when they travel on our roads disregard traffic rules are simply not suitable to be the leaders of this country.

The third one is for the eradication of nepotism and favouratism. “I will not vote for a candidate who already has a relative or a family member in the presidency, the parliament, the provincial council or the pradeshiya sabha. If two or more of a family, even of an extended family, seek our votes in the same election I will not vote for any.”
Becoming a law maker in the parliament is a selfless service to the people of the country at personal cost. It is enough that from an extended family only one answers this difficult and sacrificing vocation. On the other hand the majority of politicians are mere mediocre, non-productive parasites. They are fattening themselves on our national wealth. And it is quite enough that there is one national parasite in the extended family. We, the voters, need not go and make them, a whole family of, a tribe of parasites. Also, we know from the recent past, it is dangerous for power to be concentrated in one clique or family.

The fourth principle is for the eradication of political opportunism. “I will not vote for a candidate who has crossed over from the losing party to the party in power.”

Changing sides for ministerial posts, to avoid corruption charges or for other perks is an indecent act. It is an ignoble betrayal of those poor voters who placed their trust in her/him. What is the purpose of electing the party or the man we want if he has the freedom to change the sides and choose the principles of one party for another? What is the value of our vote? It has no value. We, the citizens, have been reduced to mere ciphers of no consequence. Of course they will justify their actions. They will have hundred and one reasons to show how selfless and nationalistic their action was. But we know who they are, born liars who have sold their souls for a mess of pottage.

The last, the fifth one is for stopping apprentices, novices, fools and clowns from entering the parliament. “I will vote only for a candidate who has studied at least up to A/L in formal education or something equivalent to professionally, has experience in politics or in community service for a minimum of ten years and certainly not because of her/his popularity in sports or in cinema, or because of being somebody’s somebody.”

The Parliament is not a training school where novices go to learn politics. It is the supreme body of legislators who run the country and plan for its future. It is a profession of great responsibility that demands a high level intelligence and maturity; let us not make it a joke. They must be considered honourable in society for that’s what they will be called once they are MPs. One can also become a candidate in the pradeshiya sabha, move on to the provincial council and after at least ten years of solid learning through experience and honest commitment to the people seek people’s mandate to represent them in the parliament. One can add more qualifications for better service to the people. These five precepts are the minimum necessary.

Now let us promote and propagate these precepts whenever and wherever we get a chance. And those of us who savvy the internet, the face book, the twitter or whatever media is at hand make liberal use of them to broadcast these principles. Let us not be lazy. Let us not put this off for another day. Let us do this for the future of our children. Because of our involvement and activity today they will have a better country than we have.

Let us be big hearted and not sell our vote for bribes, for personal profit, advantage or favour either for myself or my family but for the Common Good, the good of the country and the people. Let us not be petty minded and choose candidates because of their race, language, gender, caste, religion, family and other such narrow, divisive qualities. As this great paradigm shift in the political culture in our country, the change from confrontational politics to consensual politics, from criminalized corrupt politics to law-abiding decent politics, as elucidated by our new president, requests us to look for the good of the country and not of a particular political party, let us put aside even our attachment to any political party and observe the candidates impartially. Let us vote for candidates because of their integrity, ability, dynamism and selfless service, their availability to the people and their courage to be just and impartial. (Take note political party leaders and selectors of candidates, there is a new political culture in the country; so accordingly you can follow the trend or get lost!)

May we protect the 8/1 victory of decency over grossness, goodness over evil and hand over to the next generation a truly beautiful Sri Lanka, a country like no other.

RE: The Choice Before The Country Is Between Good & Evil

      The Choice is Clear.

It is Between Good Governance, Law and Order, Civilized Society Vs. Family Dictatorship of Malinda Rajapaksa and his cronies, corruption, lack of law and order and destruction of society.

Who wants it? MaRa, Mahinda Rajapaksa.

MaRa is the modern reincarnation of Mara, who opposed Buddha.

MaRa is also the Devil, Satan, Iblis, Shaitan, Lucifer who Opposed God.

So, the solution’s is simple. Have guts, be a leader and statesman Get rid if the Mara, MaRa Chatu MaRa Amana MaRa Mara MaRa…

Father Chryso, if you are seeing Jan 8 is a victory of goodness over evil, you are probably standing on your head and looking at it!
Kindly get back on your feet and have a look.

It was engineered by Chandrika K, who is the only former politician in this country determined CORRUPT by the supreme court. She was the pawn of the British who sucked our blood for 150 years and wants continue to do the same. Not to mention the evil empire of America.

When you say that was a victory of goodness over evil, we also have reason to suspect what you see as “goodness” and “evil”.

So keep to the Sunday morning ceremony dear fellow. And read the Bible before that please.

Boom Boom, it looks like you are the one who’s standing on your head and looking at Good and Evil in the context of the article, not Fr. Pieris. If you are not brain-dead and / or blind, you wouldn’t be speaking out of your rear end and confusing the “Evil” that the Rajapakses inflicted on this country as being “Good”.

Best would be to get your head out of MR’s arse and look around. But clean of the excrement before you do, or you won’t have a clear view.

As usual you have difficulty in understanding plain English despite the fact that you like in UK as mentioned by you

Please re-read what I wrote earlier and I have copied it below for your benefit

‘Well the bring back MR group is justifiably very active as they have a lot to lose if a law abiding Govt is in place as they then have to try to make a decent living’

Law abiding in this govt so far are as follows

        i) no PSD vehicles terrorizing the roads
        ii) Omanthai checkpoint harassment gone
        iii) no White vans
iv) relatively free press since jan 8th
v)Minoritites like Tamils and Muslims not harrassed

when I said decent living I meant the MR gorup is scared that if a Law abiding Govt is in place then they cant be crooks anymore but work for their money

Please done tell me you need English comprehension lessons mate!

Peace Lover on the War Path.

You are trying to fight Kali witout any amunition and what chnce have you got.

Let us go through your response.

1)As usual you have difficulty in understanding plain English despite the fact that you like in UK as mentioned by you:

*** The above is frankly Crap and has no relevence to your Crap.

          Yours words

          2) Well the bring back MR group is justifiably very active as they have a lot to lose if a law abiding Govt is in place as they then have to try to make a decent living:

*** The above shows your level of Intelligence and it is no point Copying and Pasting as you have no analytical skills.

I have read and let me break it down.

You say that Bring Back MR Group have a lot to lose if a Law Abiding Governemnt is in place as then they have to try and make a decent living.

Let me ask you some Questions.

          a) We voted ( I mean the Tamils) on the 8th Jnuary for a Government which will respect Rule of Law and Abide by it. But you are now saying the following — If we had a Law Abiding Government in place .

          b) So what have we got you Moron. By inference that means MSs Government is not Law Abiding. Who will replace MS. Would it be the THUG. Get your facts right before you open your mouuth and make a Fool of Yourself.

I agree with you on one thing and that is we dont currently have a Law Abiding Government and I am afraid we will never have one.

The Good, Bad and the Ugly! You remember the Clint Eastwood movie? The Good eventually wins as it should. The Bad is ready for hanging with a Satakaya coming with the package. Oh yeah, I nearly forgot the ugly. In fact there are 3 Uglies, who I hope would be buried 6 ft under the sands of the political history.

Pray where ? There is only rumor and innuendo (mostly due to his own stupid fault, I grant you) . Not a single charge has been brought against him however.

Which either means that there is no proof or evidence OR Ranil has instructed his pet FCID and other arms of the law, not to do anything about it

Reminds me of the rumors of Palaces in England and Vineyards in Australia during previous regimes. That swill was also swallowed by the gullible and regurgitated as you have done

As for “rumor and innuendo”, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the rampant corruption and impunity under MR was far too ‘in your face’ to have any doubts about his character.

There is no doubt that Mahinda & Co are evils. But it is long way to prove other side is good. The author is trying to convince the fundamentalist group that there will be no devolution of power under good side. Telling the lies or trying to convince fundamentalist ideas is the reason Mahinda became a dictator.

Good party, bad candidate vice versa. Are we going to vote for the party or the personality? Had not the courts hailed cross overs as strengthening the hands of the elected, the proportional representation would have become viable with smooth cohabitation made possible. This number game preferences with a sinister motive to floor cross stymies a joint front like in the presidential election. In a four cornered contest a hung parliament is a reality and resultant instability, stagnant economy, chaotic democracy and frequent election etc. Yet all the constituents of an alliance can act independently like SLMC CWC did before with a pre-poll pact honoured. Over to you, king makers, forge a strong alliance, time is ripe instead of crying for the spilt milk!

    Very well said, Sir.

The criteria you have put forward with respect to nominating parliamentarian prospects, is fabulous – considering that if that criteria had been followed for the previous parliament(s) – as only around 25 members from all the previous parliament(s) would have qualified.

The current President has NO choice but to accept the people’s demand for good governance, so he would have to make sure that the people who are nominated to represent us in the different electorates from his party – will have to be people who understand that they are being given an unique opportunity to cleanse Sri Lanka of corruption.

Mr. President, Sir – do you have what it takes to maintain the rhetoric about “GOOD GOVERNANCE” that swept you into power? Any benefit of the doubt belongs to the people – so you cannot allow nominations to be given to Mahinda Rajapakse, his family, friends and conspirators.

You owe the people of Sri Lanka – that much

        Dear Vellala native,

Every time the Madam says , she wants to come, you seem to get agitated…

        Any reason?.

Madam’s latest outburst against Rajapaksa , included a self plug about how good she is for the job of PM.

In fact she had a swipe at the cousin too sort of indirectly.

Madam said no one is better qualified than her. in Education and Experience.

No one can argue about it .

She gave us 12 years of Yahapalanaya.

Stopped the Cousin giving ISGA to Pirahaparan and got rid of Ranil’s Pongu Thamil as well.

She leads the cousin by a country mile..Doesn’t she?..

        Did Ranil go to Sobourne?..

    Dear Fr. Piris,

Thank you for an excellent write up of the reality that every Sri Lankan has to face in choosing the direction this country will be headed. The 5 guidelines are absolutely fundamental to choosing the right candidates.

However I have a 6th guideline which is equally vital: Any politician that is looking to be elected must not do so by using ethnic, religious, and other such sentiments to gain political mileage. Anyone who aspires to be in a position of responsibility must not be encouraged to be there at the cost of someone or some people, rather he or she has to able to contribute positively towards making a nation and not be instrumental in dividing the people and braking the nation further.

What you and I may need realise is that if no matter how hard you may wish well for a set of people, unless the people themselves want what is good, it is next to impossible to help them. That is a topic for another time.

    Lasith

Our present day SUFFERINGS were built over the last sixty years of Independence by the politicians who ran the Government Affairs and the Opposition. All these politicians never ever wanted an “enlightened” voter to be developed in the country. What they wanted all along was to “utter slogans” that “hoodwink” the voter and get into power. After achieving that “Goal”, they cared less and less for the people but for themselves. For this state of affairs, I directly blame the so called “educated”; “professionals”; “clergy” (all religions). All of them too cared for themselves even after 1956. However, I, in a way “thank” Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse Administration for having “awakened” all those “Think Tank” members during the last Presidential election. That also proved: One has to undergo hardship and suffering to understand and get awareness of the pain of suffering and that is the best way to learn.

Now that struggle has started. We even see the one time “elite” class of Professionals parading on the streets and shouting slogans for “Good GovernaMnce”. At last some have come up with the GRAND PROGRAMME of “March 12” and getting the signatures of the people and the “Political Leadership”. This “ovement” is the “white side of the dark cloud” that engulfed us from about 2010 to 2014. I hope this will gather its due “momentum” countrywide and the PEOPLE of all walks of life, irrespective of colour, creed and religion will make correct choices and decisions of the type of men and women needed to run the Government Affairs at the forthcoming election. My call to the voter is: Be HONOURABLE, maintain your BALANCE; never SACRIFICE your DIGNITY as the DECISION MAKER; never ALIGN/ SUCCUMB to your SENTIMENTS & FEELINGS; KNOW your facts/information well and WEIGH it before making your CHOICE. Then: You and I will never be FOOLED or FAILED. Then the CHOICE between the GOOD and the EVIL come AUTOMATICALLY. That is the ONLY WAY.

Mahinda without reservation is absolutely good.

Maithiri, Chandrika and Ranil are the biggest frauds and evils.

If the issue is between “good” and “Evil”, then the current rulers appointed by Sirisena have no place at all. Just replace them with good people under a strong patriotic leader like Rajapakse, who may have by now learnt a lesson in dragging his feet on corruption issues (happening even now), when he was in power.
However, no government will be able to move fast enough all infrastructure development projects, at a rate required from now to a period of 20 to 40 years ahead. People like Gotabaya, who in my view would be indispensable, when it comes to development with internal security for the people.

When you look at the events since Jan 2015, there is so much to take and learn for a better SL future. One, too much power in one family doesn’t work; inconsiderate on minorities doesn’t work; corruption in excess of multipliers doesn’t work (let’s face it, it will be a while when we fully overcome corruption in this world-so I’m saying at least don’t over do it). Two, MS and UPFA is proving that their system doesn’t work. I know it’s a short time and they do not have a majority to pass anything. However, it seems like the current government is only focusing on putting previous people behind bars and replacing them with their own people-not necessarily the right person for the job (i.e. many right ambassadors for the job were brought back to SL). This is not a good start and frankly, with too many cooks in the pot, there will be no chance of economic growth or sustainment with this government (no offense). We need a strong leader. MR is still the right person for this job if he can get his acts right by fixing family power, minority issues and over corruptions. Our youth talks about his corruption and freedom rights issues but little they know, with the current government, it won’t be one corrupt family but 100s of them. Relatively, I will take the person who actually done something to the country over an entity who’s hands tight to do anything by design. It’s not a secret that MR has done much more to country’s economic growth than any other leader since our independence in 1948. True, there are lot of debts but which country doesn’t have debts when you are rebuilding. Anyway, given MR wins this election, but continues his own merry ways; then, we will have to pray for a new leader who can really do things right to this country with the right focus! Remember though, people need to contribute to flourish a country not only the government. The conversation is good. However, let’s do our responsibilities first before pointing fingers at those who don’t. Start with finding a bin to put your trash; Start with not hating for those who have but finding ways for you to be happy; Start with not discriminating for whatever the difference is – no person is better than another – it’s all relative; after all, we are not here forever.

    Chryso Pieris SJ

The Choice Before The Country Is Between Good & Evil

Unfortunately the Choice betwwen the Country is between Evil and Lesser Evil. Where does that leave the people on the Fringes frankly in no mans Land.

    1) It is the eternal struggle between Good and Evil, Virtue and Vice, Decency and Grossness, Beauty and Ugliness.

*** This eternal struggle between Good and Evil has only come about because of the Ethnic Divide and let us not pretend otherwise. MRs RISE and FALL was due to the Tamil Factor. If you had a Homogeneous Sinhala Society it would all be lovely dovely.

    2) I met a man, not very young, in his late thirties, educated, professional and working in a bank.

*** It looks like you have got your calculation wrong. The Genneral srtike was in 1980 we are now in 2015 that is 35 years on and if he is in his late thirties he would have been about 3 years old during the strike. What a Brainy Child he was to remember all this at 3 years. I think he is a Genious and there is no opportunity for him in Backward Sinhala lanka aand that is why he wants to emigrate. Can you blame him.

Just toss the coin and you will see that millions of Sinhalese are queing up to emigrate to Tamil Eelam under COLONISATION started by MR.
    How do you expalin that.

    3) Maithripala Mahinda talks May 06 2015The above is only one symptom of a sickness in the country. And the sickness is that Evil is triumphing over Good, Vice over Virtue and Grossness over Decency.

*** I see it as a healthy relationship between MS & MR not sickness.

    4) The majority citizens of this country who are, thank God, decent and good people could not stand the stinking rot any longer and in January made the country take a U-turn.

*** My friend where were you for the last 64 years and where were these Decent Men and women. No you are wrong and let me tell you why.
The 5.8 million told the Nation you turn ( U Turn) if you want to but we are not turning away from MR. It was the Tamils who turned.

    5) As someone recently said we should not send law breakers to the parliament to become the law makers.

** * You are wrong because experience counts. Only Crooks know how not to get caught so they will make the Law to suit them.

6)Sri Lanka is a unitary state and it is a non-negotiable national policy. This is in our constitution and will always remain in our constitution.

*** My friend who wrote the Constitution and it is you lot the Sinkalams. The Tamils had no say.

    7) Secondly, the North and the East will not be merged. Finally, the 13th amendment must be ruminated on for some more time, discussed and a decision must be taken about them. These facts are now taken for granted. They are part of our national ethos. The opportunistic patriotism of the ‘bring Mahinda back’ people clearly exposes them as scoundrels. Bogus patriotism is their last refuge. They can be ignored as they are only barnacles on a sinking ship.

*** Finally you are starting to speak in your Mother Tongue. For your information let me spell it out to you.

    a) Sri Lanka is a divided Society along Race and Religious lines and that is why you have been butchering us for the last 64 years.
b)North and East will be merged and Modi spelt it out. 13th Amendment is only a start. We want to determine our own destiny.

    8) Now it is our turn to chase away all these self serving, greedy crooks from public life and from politics in this country.

*** Chase them if you want but to the North or East. It is a bit crowded.

    9) Let us not send thieves to the parliament.

*** If what you say above is correct why would MS the Man of Good Governance give Nomination to the Crook MR.

    10) The second one is about eradication of violence from public life.

The third one is for the eradication of nepotism and favouratism. “I will not vote for a candidate who already has a relative or a family member in the presidency, the parliament, the provincial council or the pradeshiya sabha.

*** Man MR is blended into all of the above and nominated by MS that means Democracy for you is dead. You have no one to vote for .

    11) The fourth principle is for the eradication of political opportunism. “I will not vote for a candidate who has crossed over from the losing party to the party in power.

*** So you are ruling out MS. Just look at his record since becoming President. The BUTCHERS, THUGS, CRIMINALS and THIEVES are still at large and roaming the Street.

    12) The last, the fifth one is for stopping apprentices, novices, fools and clowns from entering the parliament. “I will vote only for a candidate who has studied at least up to A/L in formal education or something equivalent to professionally, has experience in politics or in community service for a minimum of ten years and certainly not because of her/his popularity in sports or in cinema, or because of being somebody’s somebody.”

*** The above is discrimination. Just look at Basil he is a DIY man he learnt how to steal without any education. He is an asset to Sinhala Lanka. How can you discount him.

    13) The Parliament is not a training school where novices go to learn politics. It is the supreme body of legislators who run the country and plan for its future.

***You are right and that is where you test all your skills you brought from Hambanthotta Slumps.

Let us be big hearted and not sell our vote for bribes, for personal profit, advantage or favour either for myself or my family but for the Common Good, the good of the country and the people.

*** You cant inflate your Heart. It will burst.

    14) Let us not be petty minded and choose candidates because of their race, language, gender, caste, religion, family and other such narrow, divisive qualities.

*** I take comfort from your preachings and as a Tamil can I become the first Tamil Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
I am going to have sweet dreams.

Kalithasan the first Tamil Prime Minister.
My first act will be implement 13th Amendment
    Merge North and East
Bring back the Army Navy and the Airforce and house them In Temple Trees.

    I cant wait.

    A correction to 8

    8) Now it is our turn to chase away all these self serving, greedy crooks from public life and from politics in this country.

*** Chase them if you want but not to the North or East. It is a bit crowded.

This writer substantiates the belief among many citizens in Sri Lanka that some religious minorities are disloyal to the country of their birth, and find the its proud 2500 year old history an anathema. It is fact that some catholic priests supported the LTTE in their heart and a few by action, because they wanted to see the buddhist culture erased from the face of this country.

Where were all these pundits when ltte terrorists were killing innocent people. They didn’t utter a single word against terrorism but rather preaching about the cause of terrorism.
Now you people can look at this problem also trying to find cause.

A Father ???????? Chryso Pieris….. where were you?????
You catholic Priest should not be touched with a barge pole.

    Where were you ???
WHEN ANOTHER OF YOUR KIND SAID ” PRABAKARAN WAS LIKE JESUS CHRIST” ?
LTTE WERE SOLDIERS OF CHRIST ?
SUICIDE BOMBERS ARE CATHOLIC MARTYERS ?

SO CHRYSO….WITH THE PRIESTLY STATUS HAPPILY ENTHRONED IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD. WITH ONE FOOT PLACED IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND THE OTHER SET DOWN ON THE EARTH.
All this happens under the cloak and cover of your catholic Priesthood.

Why did you and the hierarchy remain mute like church mice? is it because the catholic Church could not permit a break within its structures? The sinhala priests recalcitrant and the silence.
Where was your mouth or the mouth piece then?
Can the Catholic church or her Priests have a national conciousness?
The answering is a earth shattering “NO”.

Hello Chryso……… Kindly mind your business close flock instead of duping your followers. And stand for a signal toothphaste advertisment will serve you better.
