The Victory Of NPP Means Peace For All

By Asoka S. Seneviratne –

Prof. Asoka.S. Seneviratne

Let it be known that the NPP’s victory on 21 September 2024 will be a victory for all. The NPP unequivocally rejects violence any time before or after the presidential election. The NPP’s unwavering commitment is to a peaceful future for the country, where every citizen can live without fear and uncertainty. This commitment to peace and unity is the cornerstone of the NPP’s vision for a better future where every citizen can thrive. Finally, it is a beautiful life for all.

Peace: The Spirit of Aragalaya

Having secured a very comfortable victory for the NPP on 21 September 2024, some opponents of the NPP are attempting to instil fear in the public, suggesting that past-election violence will be incited. However, it’s important to note that Aragalaya was a model of peace, with the entire nation united in the face of unprecedented economic hardships. The spirit of Aragalaya lives on in the NPP, fostering unity, harmony, and peace before and after the election, and laying the foundation for the new NPP government on 21 September 2024, led by Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD). It must be mentioned that peaceful Aragalaya was brutally attacked by the violence incited by Temple Tress or Rajapaksa’s political cronies.

Priority Of tThe NPP Government

Naturally, not all voters will support the NPP, and we respect that. However, the NPP’s commitment to the entire country and its people, regardless of their political affiliations, is a testament to its leadership. We value every citizen, and our goal is to foster unity and all-inclusive peace, as our country has experienced the bitter consequences of division. With this in mind, harmony and consensus are part and parcel. They will naturally be there, paving the way for a stable and sustainable economy that enhances the overall welfare of the people.

It is pertinent to indicate that the NPP’s victory on 21 September 2024 resulted from more than two decades of political life with the people and the country. As a result, NPP learned precisely what the people and the country expect from them. For the above, NPP had an array of discussions with the people and formed the economic and social policies with a vision to provide a better life to the people on par with developed countries, deal with all forms of corruption, strictly following sound governance principles and ensuring justice and for all based on law and order. This vision for a better future is not just a dream but a reality we are committed to, a reality that gives us hope for the days to come.

Given the above, the NPP government will not do anything to harm or hurt anyone for any reason but only for the welfare of all. Indeed, more than two decades of preparing with a vision is a long time, but it is worth it because its ultimate result is that the majority of the voters are with the NPP. In other words, the economic and social development policies of the NPP look after and serve the entire population in the county, not only the people who support the NPP, because it is not democratic. Indeed, as I explained previously, only a small group of voters will not support the NPP. However, after the elections, they will support the NPP because they will be convinced that the NPP looks after all equally and similarly. In short, the NPP leadership and his colleagues do not possess a low mentality. NPP has the highest degree of morality and discipline in dealing with the masses, so any opponent or political party will never come close to the NPP.

After the election on 21 September 2024, the top priority of the NPP government is to provide all assistance to cope with the increasing cost of living, help about one-third of the population that lives under the poverty line, or generally deal with all the hardships of the people, as indicated by the NPP manifesto. Parallel to the above, the NPP is committed to working with the foreign debt burden of about US$55 billion based on the benchmarks of the IMF by increasing government revenue, slashing unnecessary expenditures, and engaging in extensive export drives, etc, while maintaining the stability of Sri Laka rupee, exchange rate, interest rate and price level. Indeed, most people are convinced of the above, so they expect the positive outcomes of their welfare will be improved after the election.

The Claim That The NPP Does Not Have Policies

Given the imminent victory of the NPP on 21 September 2024, some small group of opponents or the opposition did three immoral or wicked things. First, it is pertinent to mention that before the manifesto was launched on 26 August 2024, the opposition questioned the NPP about its program and policies, while the opposition did not have social programs and policies. When the NPP launched its manifesto on 26 August 2024, they stopped talking about the program and policies of the NPP because they produced the best programs and policies that have feet on the ground and are people- and country-friendly. Following the NPP manifesto, people who were not with the NPP also started supporting the NPP, making the opponents of the NPP fully upset. In other words, opponents parties promised to give everything under the sun except headaches, but the people did not believe them. This gave mounting shockwaves to the opposition parties.

The Claim Of Secret Deals

Secondly, and following the above, the opposition of the NPP made stories that the NPP is having secret deals with SJB and President RW. The NPP responded that those alliances and coalition political movements and memorandums of understanding, including with the Somali pirates like politicians and politicians convicted by the law courts, have secret deals. Still, the NPP has no partnerships or coalitions and does not deal with anyone, secretly or otherwise. It has an open agreement, but it is only with people in the country who firmly believe, respect and accept NPP as the only political movement that they can have a beautiful life and future. This means the majority of voters rejected the manifestos of the opposition parties of the NPP.

Storymaking By The Opposition

Third, when the opposition of the NPP failed again to get support from the people, the last attempt was to instill fear in people that violence would be there after the election on 21 September 2024. This seems to be the last trump card. However, as the people have been convinced of the commitment and dedication of the NPP to welfare improvement, they do not care about such stories at all. However, it is against the law in the county to spread such fabricated stories about future violence by the NPP, particularly during election times.

Undoubtedly, political opponents of the NPP want to incite unrest.

Given the above, it is up to the law enforcement authorities to act against them to stop such claims of violence and punish them according to the country’s law.

This culture is nothing new to Sri Lanka. But Ranil who is the greedy of power started this campaign with I am the only one who risked and saved the the country and if he is not elected the country go back to bankruptcy. Then he put the blame on Sajith supporting NPP. Then Sajith blamed Ranil made deal with NPP. Like so many lies are spread by the leaders. Ranil did not hand over UNP leadership to Sajith because he wants to give it to his relatives and he did not like to give UNP to a low caste Sinhalese. If UNP was under one leadership they had a chance to get the President Post but it was Ranil’s greedy brought UNP’s pathetic death.

Ranils claim that only he took the risk. Is it right?
    On July 14th Gotabaya resigned.
“On 19 July, nominations for the presidency was called for in Parliament.[Sri Lanka

Podujana Peramuna Leader Dinesh Gunawardena nominated Ranil Wickremesinghe and Minister Manusha Nanayakkara seconded it.

MP Vijitha Herath nominated Anura Kumara Dissanayake, seconded by MP Harini Amarasuriya.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa nominated Dullas
Alahapperuma’s name which was seconded by SLPP Chairman G. L. Peiris.

Except for the matter of two people being murdered in the street, and over fifty houses and businesses being burnt in the aftermath of the Pohottuwa attack on the Aragalaya.
There is political discussion, there is intellectual argument, but there is also shameless bum-sucking.

The reference is to the offer of PM’s post by GR. SP & SF turned down the offer which RW grabbed with both hands.
      *
As for the parliament electing the President, there was no question of anyone taking risks. If at all the SLPP risked its survival by secretly backing RW against the SLPP’s own candidate DA.

“The reference is to the offer of PM’s post by GR.”
It is not the reference of the offer of the PM by Gotabaya. Yes, they did not accept the offer from Gota because it is only a Prime Minister Post of the SLPP government. Gotabaya did not say that he will offer his post to them. Did Ranil asked SP or Anura to take President Post ? Still Ranil couldn’t contest this Presidential election under his Political Party. Why? He can’t do it without SLPP support. Even now SLPP have formed a new political party, not moved to UNP. UNP is completely dead? Rajapaksa may come back again.

I am not confused and I am very clear about What I said. Horse will tell stories like this. You may love that stories. Have you got any videos to prove it? Did the horse tell Gotabaya to use Military to remove Aragalaya? What did the horse told to Aragalya? Have you heard anything from US Ambassador now? Did Gotabaya say to Sajith that SLPP support him?

The only occasion when RW accepted something that others refused was the PM’s post offered by GR. that has been talked about for many months.
If you cannot get it, let us leave it at that.
You, pathetically as always, go at a tangent to defend an absurd claim.

Does this mean the conflicts in Sri Lanka are due to JVP actions? Is that what this article’s heading means? JVP continuously creates trouble throughout the country as it is in opposition and controls powerful unions. There are elements such as Lalkantha and Tilvin, who are thugs. However, the other political parties also create trouble and conflicts during election times and before elections to achieve their victory. The only party that has not created trouble is SJB. Ranil, although he is not contesting under UNP, every Tom, Dick, and Harry knows that he is still the head of UNP, and by wearing sheep’s clothing, a fox-like Ranil does not become a sheep, but rather a crook – a cheater. He has been in the Parliament for over 35 years as an MP and a Cabinet Minister (including PM). Most of the riots happened during this period of time.

      Thanks for the video Namal!

Good Lord!…..He’s implementing the offshore investments schemes from the money of the hardworking-suffering-Lankan-Masses, whilst at the same time trying to encourage foreign investors into the country to make up for the missing amounts!

Exactly what Rajapaksas did and lost all on global upheavals. Ranil is saying however, that he will make the schemes more transparent. Transparent or not, it doesn’t make much difference – only more painful to see (at least Rajapaksas hid their vast experiment to keep the country calm).

Motherland needs the offshore money ASAP, to build the Domestic Real Sector! Only Anura or Sajith will do that, except Sajith will go only halfway and sell us too, to India to make up the differences. Anura will go the full way. Country must pray for Anura!

This presidential election is going to be the worst presidential election in SL’s history. Especially, the Sinhala Buddhist voters may have to scrap the bottom of the barrel to vote for the least damaging candidate to the Sinhala Buddhist foundation and their country.
    /
Local cher-ch/missionary schools have been controlling country’s politics from behind the scene since 1948 bogus independence. According to them, in order to become the Head of State/Head of the government, one has to be a member of the local cher ch, get brain washed at a missionary school and in a Buddhist-Christ1an sham-marrage. Even the J V p founder had to find a Chr1st1an spouse for the election.
    /
Now, all three leading candidates have contested for the presidency before and were rejected, held ministries and proven useless, have been members of the Parliament for more than 25 year and all three have shown anti-Buddhashadana sentiments.

‘When the NPP launched its manifesto on 26 August 2024, they stopped talking about the program and policies of the NPP because they produced the best programs and policies that have feet on the ground and are people- and country-friendly.’

The above statement is highly questionable. Based on most discussions I have heard, including those with economists, the SJB manifesto and blueprint are considered far superior to NPP’s manifesto because the SJB proposals are detailed, pragmatic, have a clear action plan and timeframe for implementation. However, this will not help SJB too much because their leader lacks leadership qualities, and thanks to the riffraff around him, is unlikely to have the political will to implement their manifesto. AKD, meanwhile, has the political will but without a useful plan – perhaps, he should simply borrow the SJB blue print. No need to reinvent the wheel!

All these horror stories (mostly out of fear for a change) come from the so-called “Boomers” who are on their last lap of holding positions in Governance, both in the Public and Corporate sectors.

These “Boomers” hide their fears of losing, power to a new generation called “NET GENERATION” who are POWERED to look at Democracy and Freedom from a different perspective. This “Net Generation” with their reflexes turned to speed and freedom, these empowered young people are beginning to transform every institution of modern life. From the marketplace, from politics to education to the basic unit of any society, the family, they are replacing a culture of control with a culture of “Enhancement”. This is being done at “High Speed” and they (the Net Generation) are typically different from their “Boomer” parents.

The coming election – September 21st will demonstrate how the “Net Generation” will dominate and make the “Boomers” retreat if they are not prepared to accept the NEW WORLD order (Digital, AI, IT, Social Media, Internet, etc.) that they are gradually taking over. So, all efforts to confront this CHANGE – “New World” order of “Net Generation” will fail.

Recovering the loot may be a difficult task. …… One way to recover the loot ……. ask them how they accumulated the wealth ……. prove their guilt in a court of law and jail them ……. then offer reductions in the sentences for handing back the loot. The IMF has said that the next review will be conducted after the Presidential election. Does Anura or Sajit have experience in this matter? As both of them are not mature in the economic field, the Sri Lankan currency will be in difficulties against the US currency. Anura belongs to JVP. In that way he will think on the basis of communist ideology. The IMF will not accommodate it. As far as Sajith is concerned, he seems to rely on printing currency notes. Because of this, the Sri Lankan currency will continue to depreciate against the US currency. Both of them did not clearly disclose to the people that the country should increase its production, have Gold Reserve, and attract US dollars through the tourism sector and the cost of living will increase. Anura & Sajith have also failed to mention about leaning with China. This is the current problem. It is not going to help in any way in blaming the corruptions that happened during the previous Rajapaksa period. In fact, the people of Sri Lanka have been compelled to realize this truth and decide who wins. I think Ranil Wickremasinghe is the preferred choice.

Ranil is your choice ……… but there are 22 million – 1 others, No?

“The IMF has said that the next review will be conducted after the Presidential election. Does Anura or Sajit have experience in this matter?”

Ranil has borrowed 12 billion dollars in addition to the billion odd dollars handed by the IMF. What experience does a man need to borrow money? Does Ranil has any experience in paying back borrowed money?

The nation is overflowing with people with experience/expertise of borrowing money ……. but people with experience of paying back borrowed money is as rare as hen’s teeth.

I would stop work and borrow all the money I need, if someone is willing to lend me. ……. I wish I had the county’s assets to hock/sell!

Just study how Ranil brought in all his years of experience to sell the Hambanthota Harbour. That’s the type of experience a country can do without!

Thank God, Buddha, Vishnu, Thirupathy, Nallur Kandasamy temple, ………. that AKD doesn’t have Ranil’s experience! …….. He’ll have to blaze his own trail …….. for a change …….

That might be a blessing in disguise!
