Two women who had complained that Dr Shafi Shihabdeen, at Kurunegala Teaching Hospital, had unlawfully carried out sterilisation procedures on them, are now pregnant.

Earlier they said that they had to undergo caesarean birth when pregnant and they had been sterilised without their consent. Their complaint is that despite trying to conceive for the last two years they have not been able to do so, and they suspect Dr Shafi may have carried out sterilisation procedures on them.
According to CID sources, after lodging their complaints, the CID had invited them by telephone to be interviewed and the two mothers had said: “Sir… We do not need any investigation .. We are now pregnant”

Einstein & Popper popularized theories of public consumption? Where the hell you got this crazy idea from? Yes, politics was a hot topic during their life time but both of them tried stay out of political debates as much as possible. Einstein was much more affected by politics first by Nazi Germany and second by his unwillingness become part of Jewish activism.
Building political empires was not an exercise limited to Europe; it was as old as the history of politics. The practice existed before the time of Christ. Emperor Asoka in India & Alexander in Greece are two well known example. This trend continued unabatedly until the WW ii. Even after the WW ii, Soviet union tried to continue the same tradition under the cover of helping socialist movements in other countries while taking over E Europe nearly overnight.
The idea of Neocolonialism came into vogue only after Kvame Nkruma wrote the paper, “Neoclonialism, The Last Stage of Imperialism in 1965. The irony is that Lenin saw the highest stage of capitalism in imperialism and even wrote paper titled: The Imperialism, The Highest stage of Capitalism” in 19179 (Note the similarity of both titles). Unfortunately for Lenin, imperialism felled only after the WW ii but the capitalism prospered even more. The meaning of these false explanation is Marxist requirement that communism must automatically replace capitalism at its highest stage. But in reality, the first two communist revolutions (Russia & China) were carried out with the help illiterate peasants – not workers as Marxism required. The irony is that both Russia & China no longer practice Marxism. The concept of neocolonialism is nothing but an attempt to falsify history to prove in vain an already debunked Marxism!

Excellent summary of Popperian thoughts but his views on the nature of science now has to be re-evaluated withing the the concept of ” paradigm shift” introduced by Thomas Kuhn in his 1962 book, The Nature of Scientific Revolutions”.
I do like the Popperian concept of “falsiability” but But, I have two major question regarding the way Popper has formulated the concept. 1. If refutability is the measure of strength of scientific theories, how can there ever be an “objectivity” in human knowledge? 2. How can the strong reluctance by some people to reject refuted theories be explained?
Science, like everything else humans do, is also vulnerable to influences – positive as well as negative – from the contemporary society. For example, even though the adaptation to environment by ( natural selection) organism doesn’t say anything about progress, Darwin brought the concept in to his theory b’cos the concept of progress played a formidable role not only in biology but also in political economics during his day (most still believe it to be the case). This proves that the general belief that science is an objective exercise is myth. Therefore, there cannot be a guarantee that, ” ever revised approximation to the truth can be achieved” by “critical application of scientific methods”. That is b’cos scientific methods themselves must come filtered from human brain that has evolved as a tool for survival; and not to search for objective reality!
This explains why many are reluctant give up theories (beliefs) such as religions & Marxism that are close to their hearts even when they are undeniably “falsified”. Such false theories can even become the “paradigm” of a time. Accepting the Creation theory until Newton’s paradigm came alone is one example. And then Einstein’s paradigm of relativity dethroned Newton.

It is true that no one has so far found any reason to challenge the idea that energy & mass is equivalent. But the point here is Einstein’s refusal to accept the quantum theory b’cos of his unwavering belief in deterministic causation.
Yes, science is seeking knowledge but it is also human activity which, like everything else human do, is subjected to human frailties. No scientist can ever escape the four idols of Francis Bacon that stand as barriers to obtain unfettered objective knowledge. Popper’s concept of refutability is one of the strongest proof for fallibility of knowledge. Yes, knowledge is improving but it happens in very haphazard manner.
