UK Federation Of Saiva (Hindu) Temples Object To Kader Masthan’s Appointment

The Federation of Saiva (Hindu) Temples in the United Kingdom has written to President Maithripala Sirisena expressing ‘deep sorrow, concern and anguish’ at the appointment of National List MP Kader Masthan as Deputy Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development and Hindu Religious Affairs.

In an open letter to the President issued on Tuesday, the Federation has pointed out that the appointment of a Muslim to oversee Hindu religious affairs ‘is insensitive and mischievous’. The Federation has called on the President to respond to the hurt of the Saiva/Hindu community and ‘take immediate steps to amend this transgression.’

I thought when it came to politics the temples were not the same as Sangha and Churches ( please note global). Looks like the religions, Just can not keep it self away from politics, money, influence and power.

Appe Aanduwa create controversies, then somersaults in that cesspit for their fullest satisfaction, invite the Modayas attentions and create popularity out of that and thrive of on politics with that shameless conducts.

What is the need for a Muslim rehabilitation minister North when there are two special offices severalty functioning to rehabilitate Sinhalese and Muslims? Is that the Arabian Riyal’s stamina, when even Sinhalese has only one office to colonize in North, Muslims having one Ministry and once office to Colonize in North?

Why they have to separate Hindu affairs from Ministry of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development. Isn’t it highly scientific logic to keep them together for appointing ministerial jobs?

It is only in Lankawe a medically certified mentality retarded patient in leadership of country.

        Yes, I agree.

This Kadar Masthan is a mudalali involved in wholesale business of supplying cattle meat to the South from Vavuniya. This is another contradiction with the Hindu religion.

He put a rosy story that he resigned in a magnanimous sense. With the pressures mounting up our dumbo President decided to exit him from his Hindu portfolio. How come Kadar’s story of himself resigning become important story for the media.

He should have been magnanimous in not taking the appointment in the first place or soon after before the pressures built up.

Kaalas are kaakas. They will hug anything even ugly beasts.

      I disagree with your comment.

I am glad Hindu Temples Federation came out publicly on this issue and stood against the transgression with justifiable explanation.

The Federation is a collective body and it is there to respond to the needs of the Hindus.on such matters. They have rightfully expressed their views of the wider Hindu community.

This is an effort to put things right. Hindus have no strong centralised representative bodies and the federation has correctly responded to the crisis.

Kadar might be a good man. But he should have been careful not to take on this position which he would fond hard to discharge due to his own circumstances and values and further for the rightful reasons stated in the Federation’s open letter.

I will support a moderate Buddhist or a Christian but the present day aggressive petroleum backed Islamic mission and the its extremist tendencies are matters needing moderation to be acceptable to other religions and cultures.

Kader MP too did not make his public statement soon after his appointment to justify his appointment to a controversial position.

This Religous Money Suckers ruling the Hindu Temples. This Hindu Temples one time control by LTTE terrorists Group in Sri Lanka. Never ever trust Tamils, in Sri Lanka our old generation said never trust TAMIL in front of the mirror, TAMIL who going to born and TAMIL who dead

I think the appointment quite insane.
        .
I know nothing of Kader Masthan.
        .
However, how would it have been if a Muslim of really wide learning like Imtiaz Bakeer Markar had been appointed?
        .
This is just a hypothetical question, in response to this statement by “RAJASINGHAM JAYADEVAN” brother of the much loved late Rajasingham Narendran:
        .
“I will support a moderate Buddhist or a Christian.” Well IBM is pretty rational and moderate!

    Kader Masthan

You have a website which has not been updated.

Sinhala pages contains last updated news was on 10 November 2016, the Tamil pages were updated on 3 April 2017 and the English pages were updated on 10 November 2016.

Why do you need a website?

Don’t blame the government. Blame the idiot of a ‘Gramasevaka President’. He has ruined the country’s prestige, law and order and also driving it towards a ‘Pariah Status’.

        Eternal verities

In Tamil – Mental aberration first, dire straits next.

Sanskrit – “Vinasha kale vibaritha buddhi”
Destructive times are replete with dubious thoughts.

English – Whom the Gods want to destroy, first make mad.

Instances are many closer home. JVP proclaimed in 1989, we will kill not only the military personnel, but also their families. It invoked its own annihilation.

In 1991, LTTE assassinated Rajiv Gandhi. It got wiped out in 2009.

In 2018, President in his wisdom appointed a Muslim as Deputy Minister of Hindu Affairs.

He will rue his inanity in less than two years seeing the Hindu Tamil vote burying his un-wisdom, as only it knows how.

So many Ministers, Deputy Ministers, State Ministers in widely varying subjects. Then we have Governors, Deputy Governors, Provincial Councillors. All in a small island with a population of under 30 million people. There are States & even cities in the world with similar population governed by a lesser number of bureaucrats. Do we need all these Ministries? Can’t some of these subjects handled at Provincial level?

Sirisena seems to have run out of names for new Ministries that he had to fill the ‘vacancies’ with any one available, suitable or not, for the job. Talk about square pegs in round holes. I suppose that is one way of solving the unemployment problem.

National List MP Kader Masthan was appointed Deputy Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development and Hindu Religious Affairs. Which of these is the UK Federation of Saiva (Hindu) Temples objecting to?
Another list MP Seeni Mohammed took oaths recently. Minister W Rajapaksha says Seeni had been served a charge sheet with alleged corruptive deals during Seeni’s tenure as VC of Eastern University at Oluvil. Is this as perverse?
The appointments are legitimised bribes to enable the appointees to get the duty-free limousine.

By the way, Seeni may be appointed Deputy Minister of Higher Education N & E.

In a broader sense, your argument is right.

But unfortunately, as expressed in the press release, there is serious constraints however good the Muslim MP is.

Quote: ‘Muslims and Hindus have very different religious beliefs. Muslims follow a monotheistic (singular) religion, which worships a single God, as interpreted through the prophet Muhammad.
‘Hindus, on the other hand, adhere to the polytheistic (multiple) Hinduism, one of the oldest religions in the world, with several deities and a complex cosmological framework featuring cycles of death and rebirth’.
At the time of emergence from the slumber of decades old failures of the politics of Tamil Hindus, it is important that their future is decided by their own-selves. Forceful infusion of conflicting concepts and direction will undermine the very self-progression for own betterment from/or under our compelling circumstances.
Let good parts of Islam guide us for our invigoration. For instance, I highly regard the Koja/Agha Khan Muslims and their modern Islamic way of live must be soul searching guidance for us in our socio advancement sense. They are not a landlocked nation of people – but a nation of proud and successful people who give repute to their religion by their highly respected conduct. I am trying to reflect this to some extent in my work to help us come out of our slumber.

I will Like to clarify my self, I am totally against some one being nominated to take care of some thing which is alien to them and when it is religion we are talking about culture, traditions, beliefs…..etc need to be taken into account and given the sensitiveness it should be handled with all caution. But I disagree with worship places and religious leaders getting involved or trying to influence. It should come from public, politicians and from civic bodies. If religion and politics are same then that is what you are getting from all sides.( Buddhist, Hindus and Muslims). You can witness the adversity all over the world including Lanka. What is the difference between Ganasara and Temples if both are downright playing politics instead of preaching religion. It is funny that Lankans see every issue in religious lines but when the issue in hand is truly about religion they see ?????? Facts are about being real and not being neutral or following the HERD mentality.

It is beyond comprehension that this UK Federation Of Saiva (Hindu) Temples never complained when many of their own temples were marauded and eventually taken over and run by the four-legged variety called Tigers. At least Mr. Masthan is a human, as far as I know.

I totally agrees with you Sir
This is a very Sensitive Subject

Reconciliation is important in Sri Lanka to achieve permanent sustainable peace after the 35 years of War

But this kind a Act by the Government not positively contributing to achieve the Said Aim

My humble opinion is that the Hon, Deputy Minister should kindly ask the Hon.President to change the appointment in a Peaceful Sensible Manner to Avoid Hurts, Upsets, Insult of the Hindu Community Which has Equal Status and Citizenship in Sri Lanka

This will help to avoid Politicising the matter further with Deep Divisions among the Tamil and Muslim Communities with Mistrust and Not Able to move forward with Peace and Reconciliation for the Benefit Of Sri Lanka

If the Government Not taking this as a Serious Matter for the Common Good and for the Better Bright Relationship between Tamil and Muslim Communities the Hon. Minister Should Resigns Honourably to Highlight this is a Very Sensitive Matter, not Right and will Never Positively Contribute for Peace and Harmonies Between Tamil and Muslim Communities

A National Government was Formed after 35 years with Good Faith for the Country’s Bright Future to Serve all Section if the Communities Respectfully and Equally

Unfortunately this Appointment will Never Help to Achieve the Said Common Purpose for Rebuilding as a United Country with Peace and Reconciliation.
Sri Lanka’s Deeply Divided Politics and Hostilities Between the Major Communities Need Good Faith to Move Forward.

I Hope Trust and Pray that the Hon President will take all the Concerns Raised as a Matter for Urgency for Common Good will Rethink or Change His Mind to Reappoint the Deputy Hindu Affairs Minister

I am a Practising Christian Work for Sustainable Peace Reconciliation and Harmony in Sri Lanka for the benefit of the Children, Young People and Next Generation Humbly Raised my Concern on this Specific Appointment and Kindly Seeking the Hon President to Act Immediately and Resolves this Mater to Protect the Sustainable Peace in Our Mother Land

You should lower your expectations when you deal with thugs.

Strong words like Sir, Humble, Honorable, Respectfully, Hope and Trust are not applicable to thugs in SL.

I had a close look at this “UK Federation Of Saiva (Hindu) Temples”…appears to me like a yet another diaspora organisation formed by guys who have nothing else to do but form yet another diaspora organisation ….elect themselves to executive committees and have lunch and dinner meetings..
UK Federation of Saiva Temples? very misleading. name
definition of federation “..a group of organizations, regions, countries, etc. that have joined together to form a larger organization ..”
look at the list of the federation….this is not a federation of UK based Hindu Temples….it is a federation of Non Resident Tamils of Sri Lanka owned Hindu Temples in the UK
looking at the office bearers some interesting names there that pop up every where…
……….. not sure what the motive of this is federation other than having siesta meetings…been to few of them….if the motive is to drop their infighting consolidate the number of Hindu temple and improve quality of the pooja and the priest and cleanliness …that is welcome…
some of the Sri Lankan owned Hindu temples in the UK are a disgrace , they are in the muddukus …and just one room/hall…where deities rae kept ., pooja held and food served as well…in some temples while the pooja is going on office bearers are shouting and having verbal barrage at each other
I have stopped going to Non Resident Sri Lankan owned Hindu Temples in the UK I am also not a fan of North Indian owned and manged Hindu temples….
on the other hand I welcome the formation of a joint committee of all Non Resident Sri Lankan owned Hindu Temples of UK ……but I bet this will be short lived …I am sure soon…there will be another joint committee formed by the disgruntled members who were not elected as Presidents, secretaries etc….and the cycle goes on….

You say that ‘you had close look’ and for you it ‘appears to (Federation is) yet another diaspora organisation…’. Having had a close look why could not you establish the real facts about the Federation.

Your livid goes to accuse that:

      – Federation have nothing else to do.

      – Elect themselves to executive committees.

      – Have lunch and dinner meeting.

      – UK Federation of Saiva Temples? very misleading.

      – Having given Thesaurus meaning to the word you then harp ‘this is not a federation of UK based Hindu Temples….it is a federation of Non Resident Tamils of Sri Lanka’.

      – Federation other than having siesta meetings.

      – The motive is to drop their infighting.

      – Some of the Sri Lankan owned Hindu temples in the UK are a disgrace.

      – They are in the muddukus .

      – Some temples while the pooja is going on office bearers are shouting and having verbal barrage at each other.

Then you go on advise as though you are the authority on the subject matter.

I do not want to be harsh with you as I too can castigate you on each one of the issues you have stated so hostile.

I can only offer you to contact me so that I can introduce you to the Federation’s committee members and then take you around all the Hindu temples of the Federation to get to know the true facts and then if appropriate amend yours if you wish.

Most of the temples associated with the Federation are doing exceptional charitable work in the post war Sri Lanka. You must visit those projects and get the first-hand knowledge about the far reaching thinking of the temples.

      God bless you.

There is provision for a President to be Impeached.
Is there provision for a President to be removed if he is of unsound mind as for example in the appointment of Kader Masthan to oversee Hindu Religious affairs?
The Man is truly off his rocker!

It (Federations) was a fitting rejoinder. Though the decision has now been reversed by the President. I still feel hurt and insulted. As the letter points out, no other religion can co-exist with Islam. It is not we but Islam does not allow co-existence or tolerate any other religion.

In Sri Lanka, the very existence of the Tamils as a whole is threatened by their religion due to their growing population, conversion, land-grabbing and intolerance.

    Gobalakrishnan

Well said. It is sad such venomous and absurd comments have been made by Rajash. Rajesh’s comments are reflection of his own hate mindset and are not factual account of the Federation.

Let the barking dog bark and if problems continues further reflecting his incessantly and/or the constant barking causing nuisance at inappropriate times, the response has to be to get dog to bark at the moon- particularly at full moon time. This will usually be at night when bubbles fly through the dog’s mouth and nose.

The problem is what to do about when this situation persists. Kavinda Mani or Chenthil only can give an answer.

I am sure Gobalakrishnan you will be rewarded with a one to one meeting with either My3 or Ranil. …and you can then take a selfie and hang it in all the Hindu Temples in the UK under compulsory order. Mission Accomplished?
