Haoliang Xu, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, Chair, United Nations Development Group Asia-Pacific and UNDP Assistant Administrator & Director, Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific will be visiting Sri Lanka from April 4-10, 2015.

“During the visit, which will be his second visit to the island, Mr. Xu is expected to meet and exchange views with high-level Government officials, development partners and the civil society on learning more about the emerging development needs and expectations of Sri Lanka in a new political environment whilst ascertaining the future direction of UNDP support along with other members of the UN family, in particular strengthening UNDP’s role as a key development partner in Sri Lanka. Mr. Xu will also engage in a policy dialogue with eminent civil society representatives on Sri Lanka’s development outlook.” the UN said today.
“Further, Mr. Xu will also undertake a visit to North Central and Northern provinces, where he will meet with Government officials, representatives from Community Based Organizations and beneficiaries and gain a first-hand understanding of the development priorities in the districts and further support needs. He will also visit UNDP supported livelihood development projects on the ground in these provinces.” the UN further said.

Vije Nambiar was UN representative to Lanka during war and Haoliang Xu was is the representative to developments when Tamil needs independent aid, not Chinese’s which is to nationalize the Tamils land and Ranil to Build 6 star hotels on that land. Ranil is not ready to order bulldoze unwanted building put up on the Tamils’ Land that was grabbed forcefully ejecting them and bulldozed their temples, houses, business and schools.
I wonder if these are connected. Vije Namibar flexed war to the benefit of Sonia. Now Haoliang Xu going to flex the developments to China side to the benefit of the current government? Why a person who can understand Tamils can not be send on these circumstances? How this guy plans to bring the war devastated areas back?
6 Years have passed from the time government gave promise to UN SG to take responsibility and accountability of the war. . Lankan government has yet to start anything on the promise given to Ban-ki-Moon. Nobody is talking about it because SG Ban-Ki-Moon was well entertained in Dhalatha Maligawa.
