US Dollar Falling, Gold Rising, & Cryptos Reaching High Levels: A New World Order Without USA In The Seat?

By W.A. Wijewardena –

Dr. W.A Wijewardena

Depreciation of dollar in Trump 2.0

The US dollar Index, coded DXY, stood at 98.59 in December 2025. The decline in the index refers to a depreciation of the dollar and an increase, the opposite. Thus, the level at end-2025 recorded a depreciation of the currency by 11% from its high level of 111.21 in 1971 and 38% from the peak of 158.49 in 1985. When President Donald Trump assumed his second term in January 2025, designated as Trump 2.0, the Index value was 108.2 as shown in Figure I. Hence, the depreciation attributable to his term had been about 9% [1]. By end-January 2026, it fell further to 96.16, and as a result, the overall depreciation during his second term had been about 11%. This is a massive fall of a currency within 52 weeks, and Trump had welcomed it since it will help his administration to bring back manufacturing to USA by incentivising the exports, a promise he had made in his election campaign [2]. Trump is correct when it comes to only the internal US economy, but he is faulty when one considers dollar’s role as an international reserve currency. That is because any sharp depreciation of the dollar sends panic waves throughout the global economy compelling the countries that hold dollars as a reserve currency to change from dollar to other assets, a process known as a portfolio adjustment in the parlance of finance experts. This displacement of the dollar defeats Trump’s goal of promoting US exports.

Market movement of the dollar via an index

DXY was first created by Federal Reserve Bank, the Central Bank in USA, in 1973 following USA’s unilateral withdrawal from the Bretton Woods Agreement in August 1971. Under that agreement which paved the way for the establishment of the Washington duo, IMF and World Bank, US government had agreed to exchange dollars for gold and vice versa for a fixed price of $ 35 per troy ounce of the metal. This system, known as the Gold Exchange Standard, facilitated the use of the dollar freely as a reserve currency since it could be converted freely to gold and vice versa at a fixed price. However, the withdrawal from the system made this official obligation null and void. Since then, the dollar became a voluntary reserve currency, and the US Fed thought it prudent to track its movement in the market to give indication to its users. For the compilation of the index, currencies of six major trading partners were used with weights assigned to each currency given in parentheses as follows: Euro (57.6%), Japanese Yen (13.6%), British Pound (11.9%), Canadian Dollar (9.1%), Swedish Krona (4.2%), and Swiss Franck (3.6%). In 1985, Fed discontinued the compilation of DXY handing its management to the Intercontinental Exchange or ICE, the successor to the New York Board of Trade. It is now ICE which compiles DXY and releases the data through Reuters.

Obligations of the world central banker nation

Even after USA officially withdrew from the Bretton Woods agreement, the US dollar continued as the major reserve currency in the globe since there was not any other currency that could out-beat the dollar. It continued to serve both functions of a reserve currency, namely, providing a safe asset for central banks throughout the globe to keep their foreign exchange reserves and serving as a ready medium of exchange to undertake international trade and financial transactions. Prior to 1971, USA was the official world central banker nation. After 1971, it was the unofficial world central banker nation. Therefore, USA could not withdraw from the obligation to supply an adequate quantity of dollars to meet the global liquidity requirements. The global liquidity refers to the amount of ready cash dollars needed by world nations to do their business and it is the duty of the world central banker nation to produce and supply the same. Accordingly, the US monetary policy should consider not only the money requirements of the US economy but also the money needed by the global liquidity requirements.

Earning seigniorage

But like any other central bank, this duty provides an additional bonus to USA, namely, the ability to buy real goods and services from the rest of the world at the nominal value of the dollar where it spends only a fraction of that nominal value to produce that dollar. The difference between the nominal value and the cost of production of the dollar is a profit earned by US government, known as the seigniorage. Thus, by functioning as the unofficial world central banker nation, USA is accumulating a substantial amount of seigniorage to its economy.

Suppose USA produces one dollar and buys a shirt from Sri Lanka. The dollar is a nominal asset, while the shirt is a real one. Thus, Sri Lankans make a real sacrifice while USA does only a nominal sacrifice. It is a real resource transfer to USA from Sri Lanka assuming only a nominal obligation. By running a trade deficit, USA has been doing this continuously. Thus, as at end of 2025, US dollar with a total amount of $ 13 trillion accounted for about 57% of the global reserves [3]. That was about 59% of the USA’s broad money supply. The other major currencies were far behind the US dollar with Euro accounting for about 20%, Japanese Yen for 6%, British Pound for 5%, and Chinese Renminbi for 2%. The US dollar was the preferred currency because of its liquidity and safety, stability in the market, and the wide network of financial institutions and payments systems that use it. It is these good features of the dollar which have now been foiled by the Trump administration.

Disruption of USA-led global economic order

In the post-War world economy, the global economic order was led by USA and its currency, the dollar. An economic order is an interconnected system of rules, institutions like IMF and World Trade Organisation, policies involving trade agreements, and power dynamics that govern international economic activity [4]. In this system based on rules which are enforced by a leader, all countries that undertake international transactions with each other feel a sense of safety, security, consistency, and certainty. If the leader challenges those rules and imposes his own arbitrarily chosen principles that deviate from the ones already in force, the global economic order gets shattered.

Reading of Trump economics by Singapore

That was what happened when Trump imposed arbitrarily chosen tariff rates on USA’s trading partners in April 2025, as first highlighted by Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan in an address to a special committee of the Singapore Parliament [5]. Balakrishnan, though coming from a rich but a small country, did not spare words when he criticised the USA’s new policy. He elaborated that the world had accepted globalisation as the tenet of the world order. Under that tenet, the rich country governments had allowed their manufacturing firms to set up factories in other countries to take advantage of the low-paid labour and cheap raw materials available in those countries. On the other side of the planet, the developing country governments provided all the incentives for such firms set up factories within their borders. This system which was to the benefit of both the rich and poor countries has been shattered by the new US policy. Instead of security and certainty that helped world nations to work together, the new system has created anxiety preventing the people from taking a longer-term view of their affairs. This was further emphasised by Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, when he addressed the World Economic Forum in January 2026 [6]. Noting the end of the rules-based international order, he outlined how Canada, a long-time ally of USA, was adapting by building strategic autonomy, while maintaining values like human rights and sovereignty. He called for middle powers to work together to counter the rise of hard power and the great power rivalry to build a more cooperative, resilient world. With the shattering of the existing global economic order, the US dollar was the casualty.

Attack on US Federal Reserve

Naturally, when a country increases its tariffs, its consumer prices should also increase since the high tariffs are added to the prices of those goods. This does not happen overnight but through a process of price adjustments over time. Temporarily, the country may feel safe, but the long-run inflationary pressures are unavoidable. This was exactly what was happening in the US economy. Trump wanted the Federal Reserve Bank to reduce interest rates to boost the falling economic activities. But taking a longer-term view, the Fed did not want to accede to his pressures. It led to a conflict between Trump and Fed Chair Jerome Powell. When he was criminally investigated by the US Justice Department over an over-spending of funds for renovating two Fed buildings, the world saw it as an interference with the independence of the central bank. To avoid public’s misunderstanding, it had to issue a special notice assuring that the Fed will be using the public funds responsibly as a good steward of public resources [7]. But by that time, the damage had already been done and the world central banks started shedding dollar balances and adding gold instead to their reserve portfolios.

Central banks shedding dollars for gold

As reported by the London-based The Guardian, according to a survey of 50 central banks by the asset manager Invesco, about 25 are planning to increase their gold holdings and about 33 are planning to relocate their gold held outside their borders [8]. Gold is viewed superior to dollar because it has a ready marketability and it is no one’s debt obligation like a reserve currency. The result was the surge of the gold prices in the market. As Figure II shows, at the time Trump started his second term, a troy ounce of gold amounted to about $ 2000. By end of January 2026, it has shot up to $ 5262. Thus, the gold content of the dollar has declined sharply. In 1971 when USA abandoned the Gold Exchange Standard under the Bretton Woods Agreement, a dollar contained 888 mg of fine gold. When Trump started his second term in January 2025, the content was 16 mg. By end January 2026, it has fallen to 6 mg. It is therefore, natural for central banks to shed dollars and accumulate gold balances.

Fall in real value of dollar due to US inflation

US inflation rate is also rising causing the real value of the dollar to fall. Anyone who is having a dollar must be able to buy a basket of goods and services worth of one dollar from the US economy. Those outside USA acquire dollars by sacrificing their real resources. For instance, if Sri Lanka acquires a dollar by exporting a shirt to USA, the Sri Lankan producers use real resources like labour and raw materials to produce that shirt. The US consumer get that real shirt by exchanging a piece of paper called a dollar which has only a nominal existence until it is used to buy a basket of real goods and services from the US economy. How much goods are there in the basket depends on the level of consumer prices in USA as measured by US Consumer Price Index. As shown in Figure III, the US Consumer Price Index with a value of 100 in the base year of 1982-4 amounted to 40.7 in August 1971 when US abandoned the Gold Exchange Standard. The index has risen to 326 in December 2025. What this means is that in the base year, a dollar could buy only a basket worth of one dollar. But in August 1971, a dollar had a higher market value with a basket worth of $ 2.43. This has fallen to a basket worth of only 31 US cents by end-2025. Therefore, due to increase in the consumer prices, those who have held on to dollar balances have experienced a fall in the real value of those balances significantly. With the high tariff rates introduced by the Trump administration and its apparent compromise of the independence of the Federal Reserve, it is inevitable for the world nations to form high inflation expectations about the US economy. This is one other reason for them to look for alternative methods of parking their foreign reserves.

In the last two decades, cryptocurrencies have become a popular mode of making payments and as a speculative asset. One reason for their popularity has been the loss of confidence in the dollar associated with inconsistent policy packages used by the US government. Of the major cryptocurrencies, the Bitcoin or BTC had a remarkable rally in the past. When it was first introduced as a peer-to-peer payment in 2009, one BTC was valued at 10 US cents or equivalently, one dollar was valued at 1 billion Satoshi, the split unit of BTC. By end-2025, as Figure IV shows, [9] it has shot up to $ 90000 or 1111 Satoshi. Though BTC or any other cryptocurrency cannot replace the dollar as a medium of exchange or a store of value, they have become a formidable force to attack the supremacy of the dollar and a global economic order led by USA.

What this means is that the world is moving toward a new global economic order without USA in the seat as the leader. Unless the Trump administration takes a serious note of these developments, it is inevitable for the dollar to fall from its present high pedestal.

MAGA blames the immigrants (legal and illegal) for the decline of their economy and the demise of their mom-and-pop stores. In fact it was the creation of the business monopolies by their generational oligarchy that put them out of business. But Trump has a point with the tariffs. SMEs will now sprout up in America and MAGA who are actually suffering, will have fulfilling jobs. In fact the immigrants (even the illegals) would have helped with this as they are the only ones who retained the initiative for it (like stalls selling tacos and chicken tikka wraps, and building and cleaning contractors…..jobs that require initial hard start-up work). Other countries will have to rethink their economies. A big country like China is not going to be a market for anyone as they have their own robust SMEs. The mega-monopolies they have are global ones, riding off other countries’ SMEs.
Europe and Africa have their own SMEs. Isolationist policies, but each country can now develop unto itself. Will take time, but will surely succeed in a decade. One trillion US dollars for AI, Robots, and the space projects will have to be a separate entity from the general people-centered economy. Will fizzle out eventually after the first billion is spent when the average Joe has his own business to attend to, and soon, even China will give up.

“SMEs will now sprout up in America”

Geeze Ramona, didn’t know you are into audio! …… https://sme.co.uk/

      Happy listening with OC!

This woman is living in a dream world and has probably never worked a day in her life. Can you show me where the SME are sproting like mushrooms in wet weather in America? . There are hardly any job here hundreds of thousands of lay offs in america. Trumps Tarrifs are killing the SME as THEY have to pay the tarrifs.

All that is there is the AI hype and the stupid build out for data centers. Its not like thy will ever make any money. The whole GDP growth in the USA is due to this fake AI bubble.

a14455,….Most of the layoffs are of the corporate types especially in the computer fields. Amazon alone has laid off 16,000 corporate employees since the beginning of this year. The mega-monopolistic corporate world took over many decades ago and many of the jobs belong to naturalized citizens. Hence the layoffs to automate the systems without them.

When one sees ice operating, one is very afraid that it is Hitler’s Germany all over again (I wrote a poem on it on CT a few days ago based on Simon and Garfunkle’s Sound of Silence). Yes, I have worked enough amongst these people and know that MAGA have been desperate for jobs and sustenance for many decades. One hopes and prays that Trump has a clear end-plan as is not solely according to their resentment. Trying to overturn all of this is complex especially with China in the way. Hope automated systems for the big enterprise will work differently and give support and rise to the SMEs.

What in the world are you talking about? “The mega-monopolistic corporate world took over many decades ago and many of the jobs belong to naturalized citizens”

Are you crazy.? its not 16000 amazon jobs its is close to 600000 for this whole MAGA year. They are not just naturalized citizens.

How is China in the way ? What has China done to make this situation ? This is all what this fool has created.

It is pretty clear you have not worked a single day in your life. probably staying at home while other people provide for you. (not that there is anythng worng with it) but talking like you know what is happening in the economy is possibly beyond your comprehension.

Just remember hoping and praying is not a strategy.

a14455,…it is clear that if you have worked at all, you have only been only in your own niche of immigrant/ nonimmigrant workforce. There’s so much more out there that you have failed to realize – employment that I have undertaken that has given me a far wider view. Of course it is not only Amazon jobs that have been lost. But the Amazon jobs are a microcosm of the whole lopsided employment arena of the US workforce.

I believe DTG was the most qualified option to argue with RAMONA FERNANDO. Individuals should seek the assistance of the nearest anatomists if their physical body has changed to align with other lower mammals.
I also have American coworkers who love Trump the clown. Ramona is easily misled by white racists in the United States, much as Jeppos brainwashed the lanken ignorant masses. However, we have no idea where he is now that the country has been devastated by flooding. Is anyone aware of any recent developments with DTG?

Yes bro that is true. A bag of rocks has better brains than these two. They have ebeen fed their foolish religeon and the MAGA BS. that is all they know.

I would suggest any uninitiated to actually travel to China which I did 4 months ago . I had been there 25 years prior. China has leapfrogged all the economies of the world. They have leapfrogged Japan US a Germany or any other country that you could name. and there is no unwinding the clock that Trump started in 2018.

That ship has sailed. all that is left is a bunch of fools like RTF and DTG . pining for the glory days.

Both legal and illegal immigrants built the power of the
West and modern Oil Rich , without Oil Donkey and Camel
Rich Mid East . And these immigrants run the economies of
their mother lands . The system helps sustain capitalism in
the third world and prop up western economies . Without
these Legal and Illegal Immigrants , the West wouldn’t be
today’s West . Can they deny this ? What is their problem now ?
In a nutshell , my personal view is , They Became A Greedy
world in need of more and more resources far away from their
borders . A world order itself came into existence for this
purpose and in the meantime some third world nations got
smarter and smarter to look after themselves without relying on
outside help . The numbers increase steadily giving a challenge
to the old system . Where to turn ? Top casualty is US now , like
    Headless Chicken !

And here we are, boasting about 100 billion in total GDP.
Why don’t our geniuses go and look at how a desert can be so successful while we are stuck in 2500 years of culture? If immigrant labour is the answer, so be it.

          Hello WW,
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKWqP-E9rio&t=165s
This is for you to clarify or expand your understanding of Lakmali and her general knowledge of thrivial topics.
Pacha-Kota may have only been schooled in Sri Lanka, and his incompetence is increasingly becoming apparent to those who consume thanakola. As you know, Sri Lankans in usually take that long to view things straight; knowing this to give the additional time, I am taken aback. I do not support any political parties, but my feelings about Jeppos have been obvious since the beginning: they are just foolish men and women that formed as a result of the social gap in Lanken society.

            L M ,

Something about you suddenly struck my mind .
Am I right to remember you as Leela on Trans
Current of DBS jeyaraj about fifteen years back ?
He stopped taking comments . We jumped to
C T ever since . On trans current I was on my real
name . Coming to your post , Jeppos may be
allergic to you but SLFP , SLPP , Vasu , SJB or UNP
not my cup of tea . That does not mean , in politics
in our country , I feel comfortable with an alternative
force . No , not yet . And I recognise the fact that them ,
all of them , did contribute in a certain way by
practising , proposing or opposing the actions of each
other . In that , Jeppos , in your words , have come a
long way . It’s been a hard road for them to travel .
Their talks are coming only through their training
that was and is tolerated by the country as a whole .
They begged for one term , they begged for it , in my
history of watching election rallies , I haven’t noticed
a single politician from any party , begged like that for
an opportunity . So , for me , they deserve a chance to
perform . One Ranasinghe from Kaduwela a former MP
and a Minister was famously known as ” Sereppu Supa.”
You think Lakmali worse than that ? I don’t vouch for
anyone and I didn’t even say Lakmali was Right ! All I
said was ” very good English and she knows what she’s
talking.” I didn’t judge her right and wrong . I appreciated
the way she handled the anchor . I strongly believe ” this
is what Neutrality” is all about . Thank you buddy .

WW, What a fairy tale? I thought you could count a and b. I don’t mind you supporting ex-babarians, but I wouldn’t. And the fact that I’ve been watching YUTUBE videos regarding “Lakmali” or “many of new guys”; most of them, in my opinion, are not well-informed but continue to argue for the purpose of it.
Dr. Amarasooriya did not either on her recent visit to Davos, where she could have well prepared to capture the hearts and minds of European leaders and encourage greater investment in the struggling island nation.
Again, I do not support any political parties, particularly those in my home country, but I did contribute my views in support of those politicians who have done some good work. For me, prior presidents have done both good and negative things.

OMG, you may have gotten up from the wrong side of the bed today. I’ve never been called “Leela”; I assumed avatar LEELA was the old usename for “Champa”. That’s why I gave myself the moniker “Leelage Malli” back then. Leela was then a controversial figure. And I began to despise Jeppos after losing a sandkasten friend and several others in my peer group during the 89-92 uprising. I also learned that some of them were cruelly murdered and the flesh and bones were sent to their own parents for consumption under the guise of “wild boar meat”. I subsequently traveled for Europe, leaving all of my peraphenalia at the old obesekara hostel in Pera. So I didn’t finish there.

                also with 1 2 3 . My lack of a b c still haunts me
that ” the controversial ” that day Leela is today’s

Nevertheless, Thanks, I thought you were different from other commenters who care more about arguing than about the truth. Before calling me a “former Leela,” please take time to review my achives properly. I am not interested in continuing this discussion unless you clearly understand what you are saying. Hope you will realize it soon. HT, OC and few others are more clear about me.
I stayed in Germany after completing my education, but that does not mean I am a German citizen. I do not understand the dislike some people have toward Germans. My closest research colleagues are from Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, and many of them donated to Sri Lanka after the tsunami. All the best !

          Hello Whywhy,
I still get caught out occasionally because the top right hand corner still says “Howdy LankaScot” when I post and then it says to Login – comment gone. Or it will say Time has expired for comments and then comment gone.
I usually write longer comments in Word and then Paste them in. Shorter ones I can reproduce from my own Memory.

Your reply is encouraging , thanks LS . I can sure

          o c ,

I’ll try to make my point once again through my
memory . The trillions , outside oil is , because of
the oil . It is oil they are known for and with the
exchange of oil , the West has offered a tons of
trade concessions to the oil exporters in the region .
Add to that their human rights record , freedom of
speech , harassment of critics , and modern slavery
that works for trillions . Out of the total population
in the federation of UAE , only about 11% is native
Arabs ! You think they work ? They Boss around !
You know that they work 24 hours ! Let’s say it is
about 18 hours they work ! It is more than 60 days
for a month at 8 hours a day . So , 30 days pay for
60 days work . Why can’t we talk about trillions ?
And , and , the million dollar question now , where
do you think those trillions end up ? For the world
to honeymoon with Democracy , parts of democracy
sell its souls for 30 days pay for sixty days work . We
can go on and on and on like this without stop .

            Whywhy,
The UAE is a premier global hub for the tea trade, ranking among the top 5-7 largest tea exporters worldwide with exports valued at over $236 million. The UAE is a global powerhouse in aluminium, ranking as a top-10 exporter with total raw aluminium exports reaching approximately $7.36 billion in 2024. In 2024, UAE exported a total of $1.01B in Textiles.
            I read this today:
“While the headline tariff rate for Indian goods now stands at 18 percent, competitiveness is shaped more by the trade-weighted average tariff across export categories. After the deal, India’s effective tariff falls to 10.7 percent, well below Bangladesh’s 19.9 percent, Sri Lanka’s 19.1 percent and Pakistan’s 18.2 percent.”
So, now Sri Lanka has to compete with India on exports to the US. What are our negotiators doing?

        Hello OC,
We have both worked in the Middle East, but there was one thing I never quite worked out. Why does every Arabic (and sometimes Indian/Westerners) Family need at least one Housemaid and one Driver? Growing up we had no conception of what a Housemaid did or why they were even necessary. I do bear in mind that all the Abrahamic Religions condoned Slavery, however that was a long time ago.
Much later on I did see the odd Rich Family that had Domestic Staff, but it was quite rare. My Grandmother was a Domestic in a Laird’s House and even went to London (1930s) with others of his Household when he became an MP.
If Immigrant Labour is the answer to Sri Lanka’s problems; where would they come from?
        Best regards

          LS,
I think drivers became fashionable in Middle Eastern homes because the ladies weren’t allowed to drive themselves. As for the housemaids, if you spoke to one, you would realize that it was practically a 24 hour job. Not even a docile Arab wife (or three) would do that.
“I do bear in mind that all the Abrahamic Religions condoned Slavery, however that was a long time ago.”. Not in Arabia. Slavery was abolished only in the 50’s. All those African-looking Saudis you might have noticed are descended from released slaves.
As for immigrants, they would have to come from the same places they came from in the past. Nobody talks about it, but there supposed to be a couuple of hundred thousand migrant workers already in our construction industry.
          https://oxfordbusinessgroup.com/reports/sri-lanka/2019-report/economy/labour-shortage-contending-with-outward-migration-of-young-local-talent
We certainly could do with some proper doctors and English teachers. But you can imagine the howls of protest from vested interests.

LS, during our preparatory university courses in Germany (German,Biology and other natural sciences) in the early 1990s, I encountered a large number of Arab students.
Most of them were highly wealthy, including Jordanians, Palestinians, Qataris, Bahrainis, and international students.
In addition, we had students from North and other parts of Africa (Nigeria, Lesoto, Tansania, Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, Algeria, Morocco, Guinea), Asia (Paskitan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea), Latin America (Peru, Colombia, Argentinia, Trinidad, etc.), and Europe (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland) in our common hostel, where I stayed for over 5 years. During that time, we had the opportunity to form new friendships and learn about the cultures and traditions of several countries. Looking back, I really enjoyed my hostel experience. Many people were spoiled by their own families’ money, but I had to sustain myself with survival jobs (hotels, pubs and fabrics etc) since I never wanted to be financially dependent on my father because my connection with him was strained since I was a child.

Since I was raised in Sri Lanka (2 decades), where Buddhist rites were mandatory, I assumed that the world would have been dominated solely by Sinhala Buddhism before moving to Germany. See how immature I were then !
As Islamic fundementalists, Moroccans and other northern/black Africans were difficult to work with because their ideas and perspectives mirrored those of “one-sided Jeppos” in our nation.

Regardless of the facts, they persisted in their argument. If I can’t kill a sharp as a man, then I’m not a man, according to a female Islamic fundementalist from Casablanka, Morocco.

You can see how archaic these ideas are. Even if I don’t adhere to Jainistic beliefs, I never kill an ant. But above all, I value nonviolence. Similarly, as far as I can tell, Jeppos has verbally and physically assaulted everyone in the nation except Jeppos, who are currently sitting naked. Before attacking someone, one should be able to read properly, especially in this day and age where IT records are “black and white” in front of your eyes.

Morroccans and other radicalists in our dorm debated faiths, cultures, and nations before really studying anything. The majority of my university lecturers referred to me as “the lad from Bandaranayaka’s country,” and I was held in more regard than any other South Asian student. I will tell you this: Sri Lankan Jews are likewise not forward-thinking men and women when it comes to exchanging ideas. Not only are they provocative, but they are also disgraceful.

A significant part of the English middle classes had domestic servants even into the 20th Century. It became less affordable and accessible as women were wanted in the industry.
In SL, it was common for even lower layers of the middle classes to have domestic servants for all manner of tasks like running errands, sweeping parts of the house and the garden, drawing water from the well, doing some urgent bit of shopping and collecting a child from school. The dhoby came home as did the barber. These are now things of the past but for a tiny minority. Those born after the 1950s may not remember such things.

            SJ,
I suppose you can remember the lunch-box distributors, mostly illiterate, who would pick up your lunch from home, deliver it to office, and get the plate back home using their intricate network.

It was there well into the 1970s.

Nobody ever complained of a mix-up or late delivery.

            Mr SJ,
I think it comes from English superiority complex also to their colonised countries (Srilanka, India etc). I have good friends distributed around non-English speaking Europe, some of whom are colleagues, but none of them have domestic helpers in the same way that the English and wealthy Sri Lankans do. The French and Germans do not hire domestic servants, even if they are wealthy enough to afford them. They are trained to perform tasks on their own, even at the age of over 80. My neighbours are excellent examples. They are in late 80ties, they dont even let me help with carrying their groceries, whenever I asked them to rely on my support.

        Ramona,

Can someone protest peacefully while carrying a gun in their waistband? Kind of defeats the purpose of “peaceful protest”, nah?

He would probably be alive, were it not for the gun he was carrying. It’s very easy to misjudge the motivation behind a gun, in a volatile situation. As you saw in the video, he spat and physically attacked the car, not once, but twice.

He should not have been killed (the lawyers will take care of that). On the other hand, he should have refrained from acting aggressively while carrying a weapon. Without a weapon, different story.

There are non-lethal ways to defend yourself. Such as MMA, which I recommend to women.

Lester,…..when he was killed, he was not being violent. At the first time, he was angered at what ICE was doing to people. It was a righteous rage (like Jesus in the temple✝ ). At no time did he wield his gun. All were within his constitutional rights without being murdered. But noting to beat the Jan. 6 insurrection where MAGA took machine guns with lots of ammo to.

            Ramona,
By Lester’s logic, anyone carring a gun can be killed legally. So, go ahead and kill the ICE agent who comes to get you.

              OC,..
I don’t have a gun. Even if I did, I would not murder anyone in cold blood, and my life would not be at threat with ICE. Hopefully, ICE would never come to arresting anyone of color (I carry my papers all the time like in Nazi Germany just in case). Those two brave White martyrs ensured that this wouldn’t happen. But your level of invective is amazing. Very vicious person indeed.

                Hello Ramona,
Try to read between the lines. OC is not being vicious, he is showing the stupidity of Lester’s logic. However if you are in the wrong place, at the wrong time, the typical ICE Agent won’t give a damn about your papers and you could end up in an El Salvadorian Concentration Camp – https://www.cfr.org/articles/heres-where-trumps-deportations-are-sending-migrants
Be very careful Trump is not who you think he is; there are very sinister people pulling his strings (e.g. Peter Thiel & Miriam Adelson).

LankaScot,……Yes, they want to put fear into all people of a brown and black hue. So some of us naturalized citizens with US passports who have lived here for decades might be just thrown into the pot. It all boils down to the White South African influence, most notably, Eelon Musk. Even his father said that they, the White S. Africans, fed the Black S. Africans and they multiplied (like their Whites did not multiply after stealing the land from the Blacks). I have been commenting on these issues throughout. ( Don’t get upset with me people…..I am just trying to be objective and am seeing things from both sides when I also speak for the suffering MAGA’s)

                    Ramona,

You did not answer the fundamental question. Why would a person who is dedicated to peace, feel the need to carry a gun?

Again, I am not justifying the death of Pretti. But the Left should not take him as a symbol of resistance just because he died. Rene Good is a much better symbol of resistance.

You are mistaken about the wealth in America. A very large portion of it is owned by Jews. 40% of the top 40 of the Forbes 400 richest Americans were Jewish, 8% of all billionaires, 1/4 American Jews have an income >= $200K,

I don’t see anything wrong with that, One measure of income is directly correlated to IQ and Jews have the world’s highest IQ. People with low IQ’s like Scott and OC have low incomes, They cannot escape poverty in Sri Lanka. And they are too dumb to start a business domestically. So they blame Jews and SB’s for their failures. Classic projection.

                      Ramona,

Another point. The Democrats in the US are strongly against gun ownership. The Republicans are pro-gun. So for a guy like Pretti, presumably a liberal, to carry a a gun to a protest is highly ironic. Pretti (Caucasian, M, pro-gun), is not the typical Democrat symbol of resistance. Mamdani would be a better example.

Then there’s Hindu Usha Vance….dark skinned woman, but probably a Bhramin or upper caste. She was the one who created led the University of Yale’s discussion group on the demise of the White race where she met impressionable JD Vance. Those kinds of Indians, like the ones in Silicon Valley, align themsleves with the White people and in fact sold India to them during colonization. They have zero regard for the Indian lower casts who they regard as being Black and therefore subhuman.

I believe the idea is to take US back to White pastoral farming days, with an aristocracy over it (like what German was before the influx of Jews who handled German commerce and currency). Germans exterminated their Jews, and then carried on the commerce and financial systems that they learned and stole from the Jews, and now White people sit talking about financial and bond markets like big shots that was natural to the Jews.(no disrespect to you….I know you get upset whenever I put down the Whites, but it is a small percentage…like.0.001%of Whites who cause all the global damage time and time again, that i speak about. Majority are decent, kindly, righteous, intellegent, and look nice). We hope and pray 🙏 that Trump gets rid of these awful racists shouting in his ear day and night.

                    Hello Ramona,
“Those kinds of Indians, like the ones in Silicon Valley, align themselves with the White people and in fact sold India to them during colonization”.
You don’t know much about Indian History do you?
My 2nd Gt Grandfather was present when a British Soldier shot Lakshmi Bai, the Ranee of Jhansi in the back as she was riding away on her horse near Gwalior. That was June 1858, I know for sure because I found his name in the Muster Book (TNA) at Gwalior on the date that she died. So not all of the Upper Class Indians sold out their people.
He spent 11 years in India where my Gt Grandfather and 4 of his siblings were born in Sialkot (now Pakistan). He also witnessed the dead bodies of Women and Children after the Massacre of Cawnpore (Kanpur) June 1857. Terrible things were done by both sides in 1857/58 and after. He also saw Indian Soldiers being blown apart from Cannons.
By the way Trump is a Racist and Misogynist; ask Kaitlan Collins, he really hates her for standing up to his bullying.

LankaScot,…..you have just heard stories from some vague ancestor. You really do not know the actual history of these places, do you. Not all upper-caste and upper-class Indians sold out to the British, but most did. Indeed, at first, all were against the alien foreign power, of course. But eventually when they found out that they could make tons of money with the British and build up their superiority over the lower castes even more, they aligned with the British, became one with the Whites, even though most were quite brown-skinned. They didn’t go exactly with color, but went with the eugenic brain-power that was very much in vogue at that time (previously, the Indian caste system was probably a very interactive one that cared and shared with all, and that suited India well…. although in Buddha’s time, he too saw the horrors of the caste-system). That caste-system skewed by the British still persists today. (some of our Sri Lankans are like that too)

And LankaScot,…..Is Trump misogynistic? He is probably very much like our Sri Lankan men (some who comment on CT). Probably involved with Epstein in the monetary way……Epstein network being a huge, ancient, money monopoly that cajoled impressionable young women who had fallen by the way, to sleep around with men of power before they were dumped when they reached the age of maturity (an ancient system perfected and mandated through religion by the Arabs,….although Arabs usually married girls who were virgins and kept them in harems after they had had their fun with them, and stoned them to death if they exhibited any sexuality after that…..Epstein girls were allowed their freedom and paid well for their services, although most became even more broken after that. In modern day psychology, it is wrong and also a mortal sin to coerce impressionable and vulnerable young girls for prostitution. And rightly so

And also, LankaScot,….is Trump racist? With Eelon Musk and White South Africa surrounding him, and with Indian high-caste Usha Vance, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Kash Patel pounding ideas into his head, he is thinking in terms of money-equations using their racial concepts for the next wave of American money-creation.

In the meantime, there is another plan afoot, by the racist admin., to make America White and Prosperous Again (MAWPA) : Through the International Stock Exchange. Promissory notes are given all countries around the world to place their money into the AI, Robots, and Space age (ARS). So those in e.g. Sri Lanka, who have e.g. worked in Arab countries and have some money to spend (few who freak out and insult me on CT), or politicians who took out Chinese loans at one time for futuristic investments,…..these people are encouraged by their brokers to invest in the latest ARS bubble so MAWPA can succeed. This is rather like that BRICS bubble that Rajapaksas placed all the country money on before it collapsed and country went into Great Bankruptcy. We hope and pray 🙏 NPP is not going the same way. Oh, they will be encouraged aplenty. Already Lankans have bought their way into all kinds of prominent American positions. Our suffering Motherland will remain in its dead heap.

We hope and pray 🙏 that greater wisdom will be given to Trump before the occurrence of the Great Global Collapse.

OMG, Ramona, you act like those who get irritated because they can’t tell the difference between the alarm clock sound and the spirit CREEK sound in some deserted old homes.

I’ve provided the following information for your convenience. You don’t have to worry about anything
if you haven’t committed any crimes over your decades in Ami land.

**Detain a U.S. citizen once citizenship is established

ICE cannot keep a citizen locked up just to ‘double-check’ forever.
In reality, short wrongful detentions have happened — but prolonged detention is illegal.

**Use local police to enforce immigration law (in most places)

                  Unless there’s a special agreement (287(g)):

Local police do not have authority to enforce immigration law

ICE cannot force them to help

Important reality check (why people still worry)

Even though the law is clear:

                  **ICE sometimes makes mistakes

Citizens have been wrongfully detained for hours or days

People with accents, brown skin, or immigrant families are questioned more

That fear isn’t paranoia — it’s based on real incidents — but the law is still on the citizen’s side.

If you want, I can also explain:

-What documents (if any) citizens should carry

                  – What to say word-for-word if ICE stops you

-How encounters differ at home vs. work vs. traffic stops

I hope your anxieties go away sooner!

Gosh, leelagemall,…..No, they can’t tell the difference between the alarm clock and the spirit creek sound. They prefer not to see the association between Trump and MAWPA (Make America White and Prosperous Again). You see, it’s the fashion to hate Trump (and someone will kick their butts if they support him in Sri Lanka), but they love the idea of becoming super-rich on ARS futuristic ventures (AI, Robots, and Space). How unpatriotic towards the Motherland where all their money will go to MAWPA via ARS, and not be taxed for building proper housing for Lankan flood victims and for generally building up the Lankan economy. Indeed, you would find a rather large percentage of Lankans actually buying the H-1B and even student visas for US$100,000 and more, to come in (expanding Putha’s and Duwa’s brain is paramount). And some will even gleefully go for the Trump Gold Card for $1,000,000! So, Trump knows what he is doing, although most countries in the world are more patriotic to their own.

Democrats like the CNN network are probably making a mountain of a molehill. Yet, even if those with citizenship status who are of color might be ok (and the chance of getting nabbed is small), it is difficult to see the other human beings being hauled and mauled off into detention camps and deported to places where they would probably be tortured and killed by the Cartels.

                Ramona,
“Hopefully, ICE would never come to arresting anyone of color”
As of mid-2025, approximately 3,065 Sri Lankan nationals have been identified by ICE as part of their non-detained docket facing potential deportation from the United States.
Recent information indicates that ICE has arrested at least 117 individuals with Somali citizenship nationwide
ICE statistics generally do not provide detailed arrest numbers broken down by specific European nationalities such as Italians. (Why?)
Stop being a coconut. Dump Trump.
Really, you should learn how to figure out things which aren’t publicised.

                Ramona,

Thanks. I don’t know what that person said. I blocked his comments on this website using a filter. He is just an uneducated beggar who once washed toilets for rich Arabs (along with the fake Scott). The funny part is, he would be a good fit for ICE. He and Scott (who married a street woman) are both perverts.

My original point stands: Pretti would be alive, were it not for the gun.

Investigation: The incident is under investigation by federal authorities, with initial reports suggesting an agent may have accidentally discharged Pretti’s weapon after seizing it, which may have led to the fatal shots being fired by other agent

It’s very strange for ICE to execute someone in cold blood.

                Ramona,
“Hopefully, ICE would never come to arresting anyone of color (I carry my papers all the time like in Nazi Germany”
You carry your papers because you are a person of colour. You wouldn’t get arrested if you were white. Trump (whom you support) is a barely disguised racist. Even the American origin Pope doesn’t like him.

                  OC,
                  .
I have a solution for Ramona: she can get Trump images tattooed on her face and in a few other areas where she frequently lets loose.
MARA supporters in the south and Praba supporters in the north typically employ this strategy.
The only safe path out is that. Furthermore, she or someone like her would never understand how terrible Trump is to the vast majority of people worldwide.

              OC,
              .
Lester, who tried unsuccessfully to extend his visa and ended up in Wilpaththu, may have felt uncomfortable at the time. Even if he intends to brand Indian students in his category, this hypocrite may have several anecdotes about his own immigration troubles.

            Ramona,

Righteous rage would be the man in China who sat in front of the tank.

It’s true that he did not wield his gun. And was within his constitutional rights. On the other hand, he destroyed the taillight of the SUV, as you saw in the video. So the arrest is lawful. It was definitely not a peaceful protest on his part.

            • 7
              5

The taillight was a different incident. The reason the agents went after Pretti: they told him to step back and he did not (he was blocking the road). So the justification was there for an arrest.

As for the killing, it all comes down to whether the gun he was carrying played a role. I am aware of cases of police brutality in the States. In the UK it’s different. The police are not brutal because people don’t carry weapons. Arresting someone who is armed is much more difficult than otherwise.

Did I mention MMA? MMA works. I have seen lots of videos of people using MMA to defend themselves.

This is not quite MMA, but you get the idea: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5jaDXP0u5TQ

The key is reaction time . See how fast she swings that bag. No time for him to pull a gun. She has a good punch, the first one took him out. MMA would teach her to use the legs oblique kick and coordinate her punches.

This is how real people fight. Not like the pervert “Old Codger,”, the keyboard beggar, who creates 20 ids to write porno. I bet that beggar’s net worth is not even $20 USD. Just like his wh-r 3 of a mother.

I remember once, someone jumped on my back at school. I broke their nose, full on bloody, without trying. The thing is, I am very averse to the sight or smell of blood, so I did not pursue further the gift of my hands (other than some wiring of electronics).

                Lester my darling,
Who is this old codder you keep raving about? And this Scott? Unfortunately my filter blocks everyone bot you. As for Scott’s marital arrangements, are you jealous? It appears that , considering your wee Willie, you could hardly have a relationship with a real female, let alone the little girls you were caught with. In any case, those equations you spout are hardly of interest to a normal female.
Why do you keep bragging about your “net worth “?? Money isn’t of any use if you have to get yourself off with Calculus.
With love and kisses as always. BTW, how do you know Codder writes porno if you blocked him? Doesn’t it matter to you that everyone who is reading this is laughing at you, darling?

Indian Students in U.S. Caught in Microsoft Scam | Indians In The U.S..

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzvNa_5UPjI

They called elderly people and claimed to be from Microsoft Tech Support. The victims paid with gold/bitcoin/cash to get the system “fixed.”

The irony is that even without the “fixes”, most Microsoft software is garbage. Bloated, buggy, full of exploits. That’s why Putin has no difficulty finding kids in Moscow to hack into the Pentagon’s (Azure) servers.

      Dear Readers,
This crisis must be stated clearly and without distortion:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrbhn8kaLSY
this is not about one nationality, and it is not limited to Indian students—foreign students from many countries are being pulled into organized cybercrime networks that deliberately exploit their financial stress and desperation. While struggling to survive rising living costs and searching for informal or under-the-table jobs, some students are recruited, coerced, or manipulated into scam operations that target elderly Americans under the false promise of “technical help” with banking or internet services. Criminal syndicates hide behind the legitimacy of student visas in the US and EU, using call-center–style fraud to steal life savings while insulating the real masterminds from exposure. This is calculated exploitation on two fronts: vulnerable seniors are robbed, and financially strained students are turned into disposable tools of crime. As digital dependence grows, these networks are expanding rapidly, exposing a dangerous failure in oversight, accountability, and protection—one that allows criminal enterprises to thrive under the false appearance of education, employment, and customer service.

Ramona T says One hopes and prays that Trump has a clear end-plan as is not solely according to their resentment.
Ptay to God or His representative on earth?
Surelu God has a plan and Trump is a part of the Divine Plan.
MAGA is “Make America Go Away” as seen from outside the USA.
MAGA is “Make America Great again” as seen by Trump et al.
If you (a Christian believer unlike me) were to read the Bible correctly, you understand that America is Satan incarnate, and the Wolrd has been in Satan’s grip exercised through the hegemony of the US Dollar, US Technology, US Arms, and CIA’s covert and overt activity, all known to God via the Holy-Ghost internet. So, to correct the matter, and destroy the Hgemon, God in His Mercy and Wisdom (“Allahu Akbar”) sends Trump to wreck the system from INSIDE. This is all foretold in the Bible.
So, Ramona T, don’t you see God’s plan! If you are a faithful believer, all you need to do is pray!
Bitcoins, the Manna of the modern world will shower on you, and all you need is a “blockChain” to raise oneself to heaven.

Europe watches in disbelief as Trump’s policies tear at the fabric of global stability. They do not merely worsen old problems—they invent new ones, fueled by fear, ignorance, and ideology. While Europeans act with quiet responsibility and measured wisdom, Trumpism thrives on spectacle, on white supremacist ideology, and on a literalist devotion to scripture that blinds millions to reality. Look to Sri Lanka and see the mirror: Sinhala-Buddhist nationalism dominating at the expense of reason and compassion.
Meanwhile, the developing world is blamed for crises it did not create, and Americans are distracted by myths and ancient texts rather than confronting the consequences of their leadership. Make no mistake: Trump’s wars, his trade tantrums, his endless bluster—none of this will “Make America Great Again- MAGA.” It will accelerate decline, isolate the nation, and pave the way for a future that could aptly be called “Make America Go Away Soon – MAGAS.” The world is watching, history is recording, and recklessness like this will not be forgotten.

        Hello Leelagemalli,
One of the things that could bring Trump down is the Classified Documents stored at Mar-A-Lago. Trump tried to say that he had “de-classified them in his head” so they were no longer Secret.
On a number of occasions I have participated in Courses concerning the British procedures for handling protectively marked documents [which] are governed by the Government Security Classifications (GSC) policy. One of my Colleagues that attended the Courses with me had spent time at the Pentagon and told me that the US had similar procedures and were equally strict in observance.
These are what the British maintain regarding Storage.
        Storage:
OFFICIAL: Should be secured, but does not strictly require a GSC-approved container.
SECRET/TOP SECRET: Must be kept in security containers (e.g., approved safes).

Remote Working: Working on secure papers at home or in hotels is generally prohibited without specific authorization and requires secure, locked storage.

The Laws do not provide exceptions for anyone. Trump is guilty as hell and has even tried to destroy Surveillance Footage that would incriminate himself.
Here is Jack Smith’s Testimony that could sink Trump –
