Uva Chief’s Bail-Out Ceremony: Monks Of The Lumpenproletariat

By Shyamon Jayasinghe

Shyamon Jayasinghe

It is reported that this chief hasn’t passed beyond  standard three in school. He is now Minister in charge of education in addition to being Chief. It is also stated that he was seen those days selling wade at the station.

Profile of the Chief

Have you seen the video  going round showing the Chief Minister of Uva, Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, getting bail over the police charge of his having ordered a principal of a school in his area to kneel before him? This ugly episode had been an occurrence during the era of the Rajapaksas where those in power had an easy ride with knavery. Remember how Dr Mervyn tied a poor  government official onto a tree during those days that many want to bring back? The Uva Chief is about to get his desserts after three years of Yahapalanaya. We have good reason to doubt his escaping justice from our liberated judiciary. Let us wait in hope!

It is reported that this chief hasn’t passed beyond  standard three in school. He is now Minister in charge of education in addition to being Chief. It is also stated that he was seen those days selling wade at the station

Celebration for What?

In the meantime, let us study the video and try to discern the manifest and latent expressions and implications in that. The first thing that hits my eyes, is the presence of a large crowd to “felicitate” the occasion. Does anyone anywhere in the world celebrate being released on bail? Or does this ignorant chappie think that bailing out is the equivalent to being discharged  upon not being found guilty?

I am sure the crowd is too intimidating to the poor principal who was the subject of the Uva Chief’s puerile exercise of power. The principal must be quite nervous and would have given anything to avoid the embarrassment and the potential threat to him in a  broadcast of the video.

Crowd

Can you imagine how a large crowd like this could be mobilised to back the Chief? Rural villagers consider schools as  sacred institutions and teachers as even more sacred than the institution. Are these old and outdated values today? It is a serious social problem in that case. Can an ignorant, corrupt and abusive political chief override that culture? In Sri Lanka, yes.  In India, the politician would have been assaulted. That is the difference in the Thrice Blessed Country!

The quality of this politician is there for all to see. He represents the standard Parliamentary material Sri Lanka has today. Empty-headed thugs unexposed to basic education.

Did the crowds gather at the scene because they shared the negation of values by the Uva Boss? I doubt. Although reluctant to agitate, the ordinary villager will frown at these incidents and hold their hands against their cheeks in shock or despair. Those who are coaxed to gather like these are the corrupt in the villagers and the town. This is the lumpenproletariat that Marxists speak of.In the original German, the term stands for “rabble proletariat.” According to Karl Marx in The Communist Manifesto, these form the lowest stratum of the industrial working class, including also such undesirables as tramps and criminals. These elements are also in towns and villages. By nature, these fellows like to take risks.

Australia Example

The problem in our villages is that well- meaning populations don’t want to come out in protest. Herein also lies the  fertile ground for the success of rogue politicians. Some kind of awakening and mobilisation of villages must happen if our country is to keep the political crooks out of their game.

It is all different here, in Australia, where it is easy to gather hundreds of people if something like an old and imposing tree is to be felled by authorities. The other day on Australia Day, thousands of Whites joined in the protest asking for a change in ‘Australia Day,’ as the present -day represents the day that the white settlers got hold of the land at New South Wales. Aborigines call this Invasion Day and a preponderant number of white young men and women joined in support of them. That is the beauty of social awareness!

Dilan

Going back to the Uva Chief, many more aspects cry for comment: Watch the man going about like a hero! Full of guts, pomp and confidence at a time he should be remorseful. Getting hold of a poorly paid but respectful guru or Disapamok! No, this idiot was swagging away left and right as if he was just appointed President of the country. Notice, too, that the artificially-haired Minister Dilan Perera who had lost the elections but managed to enter Parliament through the grace of President Sirisena, our new crusader or swordsman against corruption. This guy has an amazing way of dominating  others, even though carrying a weak profile. He wanted to share the glory! Watch the bloke grandstanding as though he is in charge. President Sirisena who has begun screaming against corruption should sack Dilan and the Chief together. Monks Chanting

However, the most outrageous  element in this video are the Monks chanting Pirith and tying a Pirith Noola around the hand of the Uva Chief!  Don’t these yellow-robed men realise they are sinning against Buddhism? Why aren’t there anyone to rush and throw them out with their Pirith Tool?  Sometime ago, I found some local  Diaspora Sinhala Buddhist Right wingers organising a protest petition against a Chinese restaurant naming a soup as Buddha Soup! How much more should these hypocrites go out and campaign against such behaviour of the Sanga over there in Sri Lanka?

At least the soup was a delicious one, said to give a Nirvanic feeling!

These kinds of monks are part and parcel of the lumpen proletariat referred to above. There are numerous other monks of this class who are ever ready to act for corrupt politicians. They protest over things they wouldn’t know like SAITM and the Constitution. On the other hand, I did not see any Sanga protest when the war-winning General Sarath Fonseka was dragged and put into jail on false charges trumped up by the former President and his powerful Gota; when his hard-won medals for bravery and rank were grabbed away, again by the powerful duo; when throughout three years the General had to put on prison jumpers and eat out of a tin plate.

This is life in ‘Loken Uthum Rata’ and Dhamma Deepa! Whom to tell to?

All this happening under your YAHAPALANAYA you old coot. We all knew that YAHAPALANAYA is an evil monster. You were singing high praise for it. Now that your god Ranil is about to be emasculated you have the cheek to tell the world that YAHAPALANAYA is no good. What a two tongued fraudster you are.

Shyamon, I vehemently denounce series of your continued attempt to discredit Maha-Sangha as seen in this article too. Your lack of knowledge in Buddhism doesn’t allow you maliciously target another religion.
    .
You say: “However, the most outrageous element in this video is the Monks chanting Pirith and tying a Pirith Noola around the hand of the Uva Chief. Don’t these yellow-robed men realize they are sinning against Buddhism? Why aren’t there anyone to rush and throw them out with their Pirith Tool.” It is your words which are outrageous and despicable not the act of chanting Pirith and tying a Pirith Noola. You have aimed your anger at Buddhism instead of Uva Chief. You should understand that Lord Buddha’s teachings are not selective. Whether people are poor or rich, criminals or law abiding citizens, they receive compassion and tolerance of Maha-Sangha equally. By chanting Pirith, Buddhist Monks here are trying to heel his sick mind. There is nothing outrageous there. Uva Chief should be punished according to the law. There is no question. Equal importance should also be given to rehabilitate his mind.
    .
You may not be aware as you seem to live in a cocoon, but there are Buddhist religious programmes in every prison on Poya Days such as Dhamma sermons, meditation and observing-sil to heel the minds of prisoners where even non-Buddhists take part.
    .
Isn’t there something called “private confessions” in Christianity too which is believed to be sufficient in obtaining God’s forgiveness for all sins? You may be not aware it is a healing process. Before humiliating Maha Sangha and other people’s religions, I invite you to learn about your own religion as obviously your writing proves that your knowledge of Buddhism is like a bird picking up its morsels of food from here and there.

“By chanting Pirith, Buddhist Monks here are trying to heel his sick mind”.

These yellow robed men and the huge crowd were brought in by the CM .

        Daham
It doesn’t matter whether it is a Buddhist Monk or a layman, anyone is allowed to chant Pirith. There is no restriction. Haven’t you ever heard rituals called “Gihi Pirith” and “traditional Alms Giving Ceremony to Mothers (Kiri Ammas)”?
        .
Buddhists never criticize or slander other people’s religions or their rituals. When Buddhists, who are the majority of the population give due respect to other religions, we expect people of other religions also respect Buddhism. If they are not civilized, it is the duty of the leaders of other religions to civilize their followers.
        .
Now it has become a common practice for every Tom and Jerry in addition to every Tom, Dick and Harry, who know nothing about Buddhism vilifying Maha Sangha and Buddhism.
        .
There are Devadattas who turn out to be fake Buddhists in social media with fake stories of Lord Buddha to denigrate and discredit this Greatest Religious Philosopher, his Teachings and his Followers. These Devadattas are annoyingly and even repugnantly abusing the tolerance and equanimity of Buddhists.
        .
Parliament should pass stringent laws prohibiting well organized, malicious smear campaigns against Lord Buddha, Buddhism and Maha Sangha.

What do you think of the Hora Hora scene in Parliament ? What about the Pitipana commission and the telephone calls to the hora by the judges(MPS) ? What about Mendis Special with rogues at night and talking about honesty at day ?

The problem lies here Jayasinghe . Hypocrisy and dishonesty goes far beyond Uva. Hanging on to power after so many defeats and failures has created utter moral confusion in the people. There are no standards. The people don’t know what is right or wrong any more.

Just saying brutal MR is bad and therefore vote for devious RW will not do.In truth RW is worse because he is also so sleazy and self satisfied

Is it possible to compute approximate loss of man hours in this episode of homecoming of a patriot after being unreasonably arrested and detention?
Doesn’t the crowd have anything better to do?
When our crooked politicians have so many supporters on their side what sort of protection do the honest administrators have all over the island?

Is this the first time this bully has invited a women teacher to his official den? Were there many other women who are scared to come out and accuse him?

What sort of role model this intimidating thug is trying to portray to the children and youth?

Every Buddhist must stop venerating these Yellow-Robed Men(so-called Buddhist Monks) who are sinning against Buddhism by tying a “PIRITH NOOLA” around the hand of the Notorious Uva Chief Minister ,Chamara Sampath Dissanayaka, who has not passed beyond standard THREE(3) in School .

Lumpen elements despite racial or religious in SL society today hold sway over the rest of the law abiding, peace loving, honest hard working people in the country.
This situation has come because of ruthless self centred politicians who have over the past decades succeeded in making language and religious opium as a wedge to divide and rule the roost.
With convoluted constitutional provisions, a compliant judiciary and media control and laws like the PTA, predatory politics proliferate the length and breath of the country.
So is it a wonder that a scenario such as these Prith chanting hypocritical monks and ignorant lumpen elements who revell in participating in such a show of absurd nadir that human values, common sense and intelligence have lamentably descended in our so called Dhamma Deepa?

Champa what the writer criticises is not the Sanga but the yellow-robed scoundrels like this who rush to the aid of corrupt and stinking criminal politicians just in order to give politicians a good image. These scoundrels are ruining the Buddhist teachings. You won’t find a Catholic priest who joins in such dirty and cheap publicity cover-up campaigns.
The time is come to revolt against the guys like Gnanassara. Even the Buddha asked us to beware of scoundrels who use robes. Forget how one such scoundrel who keep a Minister woman and murdered SWRD? You like them Champa? What a good Buddhist you are!!!!!!

You are obviously not a Buddhist. Buddhists never revolt against Buddhist priests. The words yellow-robed is a name given to Maha Sangha by uncivilized followers of other religions. If you don’t have a religion, it is your problem, but learn to respect other people’s beliefs.

the chinese estaurant had no business to name their soup Bhuddha soup. They can choose so many names why choose Lord Bhuddha’s.The sinhalese bhuddhists were quite right to draw attention to it.

As for fonseka not only had he to eat from a tin plate as you mention, the poor fellow had to sleep on the floor on a matress.Imagine when he went to the common toilets. This is the way they treated the war hero, the main strategist and architect of the war victory though gota and mahinda also helped.

As for the fatso in the article the less said about him the better. He was used to squatting and selling vadai so kneeling would have not been much different to him.

“the chinese estaurant had no business to name their soup Bhuddha soup.”

      You again being silly.
      What does Buddha mean?
An enlightened one or a knower. However Prof Gananath Obeyesekere believes it means an awakened one.

Do you or the militant Sinhala/Buddhist fascists own Buddha brand, including his name, pictures, portraits, what he preached, his language, his experience, ………………………………. ?

“They can choose so many names why choose Lord Bhuddha’s.The sinhalese bhuddhists were quite right to draw attention to it.”

The “sinhalese bhuddhists” draw attention to everything in order to prove their nasty little existence.

Have you heard of “Buddha Bowl” which is a popular vegetarian dish in London restaurants. It contains of Avocado, Chick Peas, Quinoa, Mixed Greens topped with red pepper sauce and garnished with sesame seeds. There are several restaurants named after Buddha in UK – Buddha Belly in Maidstone, Buddha Kitchen in Bromley, Buddha Bar in Knightsbridge and Laughing Buddha in Fulham – all well patronised.

        • 2
          0

UK doesn’t recognize sentiments of the followers of Buddhists for using Buddha’s image or name. Buddhists have written to authorities of many countries including UK to no avail. According to their laws, they are unable to ban restaurants using the name Buddha. However, in one country, I don’t remember which, the restaurant has apologized and stopped using Buddha’s name. What is annoying is why only Lord Buddha, why nobody name their soups, bars, pubs, restaurants in other religious leaders names such as Jesus’s Bar, Allah’s Soup, Om Bowl or something. Tolerance of Buddhists is abused in all over the world.

Never mind Budda bars. Have you heard of the play/movie “Jesus Christ Superstar” from the 60’s, which was openly shown in UK?
Would something called “Buddha superstar” be allowed here? If not why?
How come it is wrong to name bars after the Buddha but OK to kill people in his name?

It just goes to show how tolerant Bhuddhism is.Some Bhuddhists say that too much of tolerance is what cost bhuddhism to disappear from most lands.Just because someone is tolerant does not mean that we should take advantage of them don’t you think? If they had named the restaurants Allah or mohammed or jesus then you can imagine the bombs going off or the stones being thrown at it.

I believe that the meek will inherit the earth one day and i will be always be respectful to them and not hurt their feelings. To the arrogant i will let them have it with the words and deeds that they understand best. War or peace up to them.

              0

mecca is okay, but let them try naming it Allah or Mohamed and see the sparks fly.Even for mecca many muslims must be hurt and angry because it is a gambling company but UK government will just say they can’t do anything about it because private sector is out of their jurisdiction as to what they name their organisation as.However my point here is we should as human beings try our best to not hurt other peoples feelings unnecessarily in this short life of ours.

Live and let live is my policy in life.

Lord Bhuddha is venerated by millions of Bhuddhists. Is it correct to go and name a soup after him?Why do you want to hurt the feelings of millions of people. Why do you want to show such disrespect to a person who preached love and non violence.

Do you think it is correct if they had named the soup after another great man and called it mahatma ghandhi soup.I think we should not provoke people unnecessarily and live and let live in this short life of ours.Obviously you have different views.

There is nothing wrong with Buddha or his teachings which is the most pacific of all religions. What is happening in Srilanka is that Sinhala racism has crept into it and is bringing a bad name to Buddhism. Buddhists are tolerant worldwide because they cannot do much about it, but this is not so in Srilanka.

If you go to any part of India, either North (Punjab) or South (Tamil Nadu), Buddha is highly venerated. The Indians consider Buddha as a part of their heritage, a great son of Baratha. Similarly, in many other countries, the term ‘Buddha’ is highly respected. It is a shame that some Westerners are so ignorant to name liquor bars with the term ‘Buddha’.

How about Murugan Store selling all kind of things? Muhamed and Mohamed Butchers, pubs with names such as Cathedral, Bishop ……….. the worse kind of insult to Buddhism is the Chapter II of the constitution.

Buddha attained Parinirvana about 2600 years ago. Now you are trying to create a type of false consciousness among a section of people something that is completely irrelevant to Buddha and Buddhism.
Remember how Buddha (the awakened one) handled Akkosa.

By focusing on Lord Bhuddha you are missing the point i was making.Don’t hurt the feelings of people unnecessarily. It is not my feelings but the feelings of millions of other people who venerate this sage. Why they venerate is immaterial to this argument. We must not hurt other people’s feelings.Got the point.

    Shyamon,

Is that the way you speak of the Masses exercising their honorable rights? Lord, how you love playing the part of the snooty Lankan bourgeois! Yes, many such Lankans take the wealth of Sri Lanka to Western lands and then laugh at the lesser man struggling at home.
    *
But Shyamon, has it even occurred to you that the Chief Minister might have not actually told that principal to kneel, and she might be playing race politics as is typical of certain seperatists? Oh, but you won’t care because it doesn’t matter to you in Australia, because dividing Sri Lanka into federal zones will mean a lot more oligarchs from the Babma crowd will be joining you in Oz.
    *
Chief Minister is right to insist on 25-50% Sinhala Buddhists to be included in the private parochial school setting.

      Ramona TF,

This Principal of the Tamil school is unlikely to be a separatist
you mischievously suggest. She is of recent Indian origin (one of Thondaman’s people, if you like) These people are happy to be part of the Sinhala society they have been with in the Hill Country – for over a century If this rowdy, ill-educated thug of a CM is allowed to continue, in any capacity of responsibility, it will be only at the expense of decency and good order.

There is definitely an urgent need for an overthrow of fake, corrupt, and criminal monks who resort to political stunts like this. A rebellion among Buddhists is a need of the moment. We have had enough of Gnanassaras. The monks in rural areas are the real pious ones who are guiding their flock. Colombo monks are money-seeking and women-seeking disasters. I visited Allen Methiniyarama for an almsgiving and saw the luxury lives of monks there.

I wonder what Champa tries to portray in his comment saying that through the effort of those clergies, the Uva CM will realise his sins and come to the correct path. What an imagination? Don’t try to demean the value of Bhudhism. The crowd has come forward to to show the the strength of the CM who happens to be a Sinhalese and to create a fear psychosis among the crowd who back the beleaguered principal who happens to be from the Tamil community. Mobiilising such a large crowd was to send a strong message to the president. Dilan Perera will be simply gone there to be among the large crowd which he can’t mobilise.

Ref Sisira W. The problem is that the priests of the Catholic church are under the disciplinary control of a hierarchy going up to Bishop, Archbishop and even to the Pope. No such control go monks. You and I can put on a robe, get dane if we are broke, and rob for a living. Police protect us because we wear the robe.
Catholic priests are guilty of sexual abuse but they get caught and have to leave the robes. Monks area also abusing the samaneras but they all keep things hidden.

Monk? What monk? All I see is a robed person tiing a “pirith noola” on a bloated fat pig. Pigs will be pigs. Regarding the large crowds? Shyamon, Shyamon… you have been currupted by the civilized Aussie cultutre too much. You neeed to get some good old SL filth/mud on you. When my relatives and friends living in Australia come to SL, the simple act of crossing the road at an actual crossing in SL gives them heart attacks. Hell, it is not just them even for me crossing the road “LEGALLY” gets a “Koheda Hu—-o yanne! Ain weyan pa–ya” from the very civilized, 2500 year of cultured SL drivers. It is quite easy for SL politicans to gather a large amount of “supporters” from all over the place with a simple bottle of alcohol.

I also think Sangha Members should stop attending political meetings. Anyway, the story is that HARIN FERNANDO had created the Situation in UVA to score politically. I think HARIN FERNANADO is from UNP.. In this article, it looked you are scratching the UNPAtriotic party Back. what are you getting money or a postion. Is this article for badgering Sangha members or Supporting the UNPAtriotic party which had bankrupted the country and they look forward to offer ORUMITHTHA NADU after the election and close all the Kachcheries. then hand over the Agents job to chief minister or to the Local Council.

Oh I get it, Sangha members had gone there because of These corrupt politicians’ invitation. UNPATRIOTIC party Mouth Piece SHYAMON JAYSINGHE is pissed off. Don’t blame Sangha members. they are not doing any police here. Even RAVI THE LIAR uses Sangha members or photographs even though he is a Catholic. Dali member from yapanaya Arjun Mahendran went to Dalada Maligawa and got blessings from Mahanayakas when he was appointed. I heard, GALLEON RAVI is the Chief supporter/Disciple in the KELANI Temple. Do you criticize those too ? Bond Scam Ranil goes to mosque, What do you say they should chase out Ranil. JVP is the only honest party.

Since when chanting Pirith become a crime? It is not Maha Sangha, it should be your leader Ranil who should be tar-brushed for his involvement in the killings of 60,000 youth in 1989 according to Batalanda Report. If not for the compassion and tolerance of Buddhists, he will never be elected even as an MP let alone be the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. Anyways, he is not getting a single Buddhist vote if he contested in 2019. Oh, I almost forgot, I have already identified his newest or next bait for 2019.

I think the racist SLFP and SLPP morons should be defeated at any cost at the local govt elections. These 2 parties are a bloody menace to society. Yeah true they should be defeated and more than that UNP, which carried out history’s biggest financial fraud and UNP’s lapdog JVP should also be defeated with the equal strength apart from their treachery against their own country and its Army. Is there any other country where the Prime Minister who is directly involved in a massive financial crime continues in his post without shame? Anyways, will have to let him stay for obvious reasons, under President’s iron fist
People should not boycott LG elections but they should spoil their votes to show their displeasure over present political culture, patently obvious.

Ranil is lucky MS didn’t publish the best part of the Report. I tried my best to get that out by repeatedly stating that Bond Report is incomplete, vague and irregular but he is shrewd, probably due to legal advice they are withholding the most important facts of the Bond Report, I guess.

Chamiditha you are right. Sirisena should get a thrashing. Misbehaving monks should be thrashed then only will they stop this trend. If not no hope.

The Uva CM Chamara Sampath Dassanayake has a message here – “Look at the squad I can muster. How dare anybody challenge my impunity. Human rights? UNHRC go to hell. Misogyny? So what about it?”.
The GoSL will read the message and instruct the Police to make a hero out of him. The lady in question will have to take back everything she said or else………..

Ananda Wegoda: I would like to add: Why not by Legislation prohibit the “Production” and “Sale” of CHEEWARAY Also arrest anyone wearing the CHEEWARAY attending “Political and all other types of Protests”. Then at least, there will be some remaining to prepare and wear that robe by themselves and all ROGUES would be kept out of theses RALLIES. Together with that, Legislation must prohibit all clergies of all religions contesting in any election in the country. Law is not for ever, it needs to address the CHANGING conditions and environment to meet such challenges. Even Buddha’s Teaching says nothing is PERMANENT.

Champa is acting to her model. She is an extremist right-wing nationalist and we have had enough of these blokes who support that murderous liar and thief who stole Tsunami money. True to her type, Champa attacks Ranil because Ranil is their danger. Ranil is an absolute gentleman. See how he is silent when Sirisena is going round blasting him for nothing. Ranil has not been implicated in the Bond scam but, like her other bedfellows, Champa hates Ranil. What is this Batalanada bogus story? Champa says that, again, true to type like a parrot.. Not a cent has been lost to the country on the bond issue since Perpetual money has been sealed and is available fo government to take. Champa is as blind as a bat.

      Dr. Ransimala,

Ranil is the absolute bane of this country. He is no gentleman. If he was a gentleman he should have resigned from his post long ago.

Ranil’s silence regarding Sirisena’s rhetoric is because he wanted to keep the 2/3 majority in the parliament until the very end of this government’s term. This is not his agenda but his masters in US and EU.

        Shenali

“Ranil is the absolute bane of this country. He is no gentleman. If he was a gentleman he should have resigned from his post long ago.”

Well can you show me one gentleman who has resigned on principle and for lack of honesty? If that is a criteria surely Tsunami hora should not have contested the elections.

“This is not his agenda but his masters in US and EU.”

Whose agenda did Dr Mahinda Rajapaksa (LLD + PhD X 3) carried out from 2005 to 2015?

      DrRansimalaVidurupola
Oh yeah your absolute gentleman Ranil master-planned to drain the Central Bank at his leisure for 5 years by using his High Office but got caught red handed.
Bond Report is the second Report against him. First one was Batalanda Report.
Not a cent has been lost to the country??? You must have been in a coma for the last three years. Our economy is ruined beyond repair due to Ranil’s Bond Scam not to mention the increased interest rate people had to pay for the last three years. Sri Lanka will have to deal with the financial trauma caused by Bond Scam for decades.
      .
The sale of Magampura Port is a multi-mega commission-based decision by Ranil. Next mega commission-based decision is the sale of Mattala. I hope the President will stop the installment-sale of Mattala airport at least, although he couldn’t stop the stupid sale-and-leaseback of Magamapura Port.

Champa I agree. If one of these anti-Buddhist monks are given a thrashing there will never be a repeat of this behaviour. Christians are laughing at us. After the assassination of SWRD by a monk people went round thrashing the vile yellow robes and none of them ever came to the stage for 5 years.

If the Buddhist public does not do anything about errant monks, this virus will spread and eventually confine Buddhist practice to the jungle. Because of the social sanctity our Buddhists uncritically give the robe, crooks and racketeers are making up a lumpunploretariat along with others in the lay group of sociopaths.
This is why I expose these blokes and try to remove the humbug. Champa thinks I do not know Buddhism. Yes, she is right as I do not know her Buddhism. However, I know something deep about the Buddhist philosophy and I am invited to international conferences in this regard.
I thank all those who have participated with intelligent comments.

      Shyamon Jayasinghe
What have you exposed Shyamon? Please present your rationale to prove monks chanting Pirith and tying a Pirith Noola around the hand of Uva Chief is “an outrageous act”? Since when tolerance and compassion become outrageous?
      .
Describe the behaviour of an errant monk? Give me examples. What kind of a virus are you talking about? How could monks chanting Pirith to a laymen is considered as spreading a virus?
You are an anti-Buddhist as your writings prove again and again. A Buddhist will never use the words you have used against Maha Sangha. I am surprised a non-Buddhist who is malign to Maha Sangha is invited for conferences.
      .
You talk about having a deep knowledge about Buddhist philosophy. Forget about philosophy. First learn “basic” elements of Buddhism. Let me tell you.
      .
In Buddhism, the four main attitudes “towards others” is Metta (loving kindness), Karuna (compassion), Muditha (unselfish joy) and Upeksha (equanimity). This is the base of Lord Buddha’s Teachings which obviously you have never heard, let alone practice. It is always two ways. Maha Sangha displays these attitudes towards laymen irrespective of their social, legal, economical status and vice versa.
      .
As mentioned previously, Buddhism is not selective in showing compassion and tolerance. That is why there are Buddhist religious programmes in all our prisons. I wonder in Christian countries, do priests visit prisons and conduct regular sermons to prisoners?

Yes, you are correct Ananda. We all know what happened to SWRD by taking into the confidence the Buddhist monks..The country, whatever his weaknesses are lost a good man due to a womanizing, hooching, scoundrel of a Buddhist hora monk in the name of Buddharakkitha. I have lost faith in these hora monks-do not go to temple-do not worship them- but do my all religious activities at home. and finally wished in the form of a letter to my children not to give the Pansakoola. Has Champa not seen how Abhayatissa, Ananda, and many other political monks behave disgracing the yellow robe. We are disgusted of the whole lot. SHAME,BLOODY SHAME

You are absolutely right DPJ. This Pansakula Business by the monks commenced about a four to five hundred years ago. There was no pansakula during the time of Buddha who lived forty five years after enlightenment. Besides how can one bestow Nirvana on a another which even Buddha did not do because he could not. These buggers in yellow robes today believe they can bestow Nirvana to every crook. Best the flower offering, statue worshiping, merit collecting Nirvana going Sinhala Buddhists can do is to refrain offering alms to these Humbugs. Today what is taught as Buddhism to young children is absolutely false. Prince Sidhartha took to robes when he was 29yrs. But a young infant in robes is projected as Buddha which is a big fib. I too have strictly instructed my children not to offer pansakula for me after my death and not to bring a Buddhist priest anywhere close to my coffin. I detest them so much.
